Eddie would have just picked up his guitar 🎸 and started playing with you . ( You Did It Right Brother ). You P’ed all over them maggots! FUNK ON ! FLY ON !
@johnnyscozmicshipshowRobbins BTW, I learned how to play Michael Hamptons' version of Maggot Brain in 83. It was a gift to me from my mother, accompanied by a brand new guitar.
I guess you might know this already, since you seem like the kinda guy who is very much into eddie hazel and funk overall, but i say it anyways. There is an album called "axiom funk - Funkcronomicon" and there are songs from eddie hazel who are absolutly crazy and you should listen to them if you dont know them. I didnt knew they existed till 1year ago, i only came across them out of luck. "sacred to the pain/ pray my soul" very emotional. and there are other nice songs on that album aswell ofc!!! I'd just happened upon your video after watching another rendition of this Funkadelic anthem and maaaaaannnn, I'm an instant fan, my brother! I'm not blowing smoke, Johnny, my brother was the late Pedro Bell, the original art and slang master when these brothers were on the rise! Peace.
Thank you very much my brother it is an honor to hear your encouragement. Me and my friend Peter used to look at the album covers of the funkadelics all the time while listening to the music. Damn! I love multi instrumentalist. LOVED Bootsy on the drums and clearly Stevie Wonder, Maurice White, Phil Collins and Prince. There’s this Israeli guy on UA-cam that is an absolute VIRTUOSO playing train beats with his left hand and right hand as good as Purdie, Dennis or Billy and after a few years of watching him I stumbled upon him SHREDDING on guitar as well.

Thanks Lamont I've been at it for years until you come to the point where is sometimes you have to make it your own thing but I like to honor the original version so I try to play it like that but it always seems like you wind up doing something of your own it's still maggot Brain to me but we give big thumbs-up and credit to the originator of the thing Eddie Hazel can't nobody do it like Eddie. I like Michael Hamptons version and I like Blackbird Midnight's version too so it's like you take a little bit out of all three of them and then add your own stuff in as well. I think the funkadelics would appreciate someone not trying to carbon copy the original song because Eddie already did it. So they would probably want to see what you would do. But just out of big respect I don't want to divert From the original version. Because that's what attracted me in the beginning.
One of the BADDEST versions I’ve ever seen! Like how you added elements from Kidd’s interpretation. Fly on, brother!
