This game exceeded my expectations. I was so nervous when I gave them my money with a lot of kickstarters failing but this was money well spent. Yes this is a instant classic that needs to be owned.
Instant classic for sure. And I was never really as into the “Metroidvania” style games as I was into the classic style games. But this game may be changing my mind.
I am blown away, it exceeded my expectations, and went above and beyond what I expected. I got a 4k HDR experience on my xbox one x, highly detailed environments, and that gameplay that got me into RPG'S, when I was a teenager.
By far the best review for this game. I know it's not a review it's you showing your appreciation for the game but boy do I love it. I'm really excited for my copy of the game to come in now. Thanks Johnny!
I've never played a Castlevania game before, but I bought Bloodstained today after all the good buzz. I played it for 6 hours straight and just absolutely adore it. It's fantastic, and I can't wait to go through all the previous Castlevania games after I finish it!
Dude I'm all for 2d games!!! When I first played castlevania symphony of the night back at 97 i never told myself I wanted a 3d castlevania and I went with Playstation. I had no idea of the bad n64 castlevania games. Castlevania must always be in 2d till the end of time.

As a child born in the early 80: and having some of. If not my most fond gaming memories with sotn as a teen, your sentiments mirror mind exactly and I love what you said that “this is for ME”, I feel the same way. IGA, you are the man and thanks for the hours of joy!
Woohoo!!! SOTN is also in my top 10 of all time. Also, that level up animation is so satisfying. And yay! We get to play a completely finished game in 2019!
As a fellow backer all what I can say is that this game has content. Like man, the fact that on top of the base game we are going to have more is incredible. Now the fact that I prefer classic over the metroidvania is me admitting alot. After backing mn9 I for some reason did not have doubts. IGA knows how to program and gameplay for him is always paramount. So there were factors that made this decision much more easy. But the end product is amazing. I just got the ps4 version today, waiting for my switch backer version to come later but it has been a joy to play.
I think this game is fantastic so far (I am not too far along)! I preordered it on PS4 and Switch though because this style of game is my absolute favorite! SOTN is my number 1 game of all time, and so far this is scratching the itch. Way to go Iga! Thanks for the thoughts Johnny!
I changed from a PS4 copy to a Switch copy so I'm still waiting. Sure was a long time coming! It was your original video that got me interested in backing in the first place. It feels weird that the game is launched.. it's just been so long.
An absolute love letter to fans, I turned 32 on the 17th. So many memories are coming back playing this game, I have so much more to say but I wont without writing a book here on youtube.
This game has lived up to EVERY expectation I had set out for myself and this game. God I can’t stop playing it. Absolutely love it. So many old Castlevania nostalgia trips.
I'm having so much fun with this game right now. Having just replayed SOTN about a year ago, it's crazy to see just how many parallels this game has to it. Can't wait for another!
I also backed it on kickstarter and I received my copy Monday night. I've put a few hours into it and I agree with everything you said. I'm really enjoying it, the quest system is a nice addition. It seems much, much more polished than the backer beta from a few years ago. I think bringing Wayforward on for QA was a brilliant idea.
I gave you a "like" with a smile on my face as you ended your video pointing to the screen saying, "and this proves people still want 2D GAMES!!!" I couldn't agree more.
I've watched LPs of probably most of the games, but my first experience with the series myself was Symphony of the Night, and only within the past year I believe. Almost got to the true ending before the PS4 rerelease was announced, and now I'm not so sure whether I want to keep playing with a controller I don't really like, and starting all over. Even so, it might still be just as enjoyable. Having mostly grown up with Nintendo consoles since the SNES, I hadn't bothered with most PS classics until recent years, and even then it might also because many Castlevania games seemed intimidating. In retrospect, I should have figured I'd like them, having been apprehensive about Metroid games until I tried Prime 2(still my favorite) and went on to 100% many of them. About 8-10 hours into Ritual of the Night, I already expected it to be at least decent with the basis already there, but it's exceeded my expectations for something entirely crowdfunded. There's a tiny bit of jank and some spelling errors, but otherwise seems completely solid and professional. The only gripes I might have are that I prefer how fluid the animations for Alucard were, made him seem a bit faster(not sure if he actually is), and that a lot of areas seem a bit small to account for any grinding - then again, perhaps it's a good thing they don't overstay their welcome. As an aside, I'm especially glad Hayter's found more work. Think whatever you want about Sutherland, but his performance in MGSV really felt bad to me; he lacked any passion about the role, didn't attempt at all to sound anything like Snake or put any effort into making it distinct from any other role he's played. Hayter might sound similar here, but there's enough nuance if you listen really close. I regret not backing it. Mostly for that cool case you've got, but also because I'd like to put my money behind projects like these. The only one I've backed has been The Good Life, and while I'm not expecting anything amazing out of it, Swery's a great guy and I'm sure it will have the unique quirks I like that are hard to find in a lot of mainstream games these days.
Fellow backer here: I share your sentiments with SotN. Bloodstained has not only delivered but improved upon that old masterpiece. I am loving this game (yes, already beat it. yes, getting ready to wade through all the demons of hell once more).
After 54 plus hours playing With the Main history completed, and every easter egg, achivement le secret done... With every rank 9 grade 9 shards. With every item as it for materials, food, equipement, weapons and quest. I can say this game is pretty good. I'm not even tired of that at all. Hard and nigthmare área being a blast yo beat.
Glad you love it, I do too BUT for those of us that started the game before the 1.02 patch...that patch has now juggled some chest id's and you start coming across chests you've not opened yet already being open. Basically, you need to restart fresh to fix it - the devs already confirmed that every fix they tried would require a new game to be started so it seems unlikely they can patch it in any way that would allow the old save to be usable again. The bug is made more game breaking because it's messed up chests with key items that are needed to progress...so if you're already playing from a pre-patch save, just bite the bullet and restart because it will affect you at some point and you'll just be wasting your time continuing on your current save.
I didn’t even know this was in the making, but if I had knew, I would have supported it. But I’m going to support it now, by buying it. It simply makes me so happy seeing a game like this come to life in the way it has.

Huge Castlevania fan here, been eagerly waiting this release since forever. I'm on work leave next month and Bloodstained is going to be my entertainment of choice for that time 👍🏻
Im so happy this game is much more polished now. Those guys at WayForward rly finessed the backgrounds. Gives me a lot of hope for R-type Final 2. Hope that doesnt take 4 years though.
I'm a huge SotN fan as well, when i saw the Kickstarter years ago I immediately backed it. It has been a long wait, but yes... it was worth it. Really enjoyed what I've played so far.
When I backed this, I made sure to get both a Physical and a Digital copy, because they didn't need to be on the same platform. A Steam copy for at home, and a physical Switch copy when on the go, or during breaks at work. Not that the Switch version is out yet, but if the withdrawal symptoms are this bad after only one day of being out, I think I made the correct long term investment.
I kickstarted it as well, played Circle of the Moon (loved it), got my Steam copy, been streaming it all week. Love it. Got stuck a couple of times. Love that. I'm going to be kind of sad when I finally beat this game.

I’m loving the SOTN feels this game is bringing back to me. Definitely worth the wait.
I’m playing this in 2022 and it’s still getting updates and getting better the more I play!!!
Dude I'm all for 2d games!!! When I first played castlevania symphony of the night back at 97 i never told myself I wanted a 3d castlevania and I went with Playstation. I had no idea of the bad n64 castlevania games. Castlevania must always be in 2d till the end of time.
nope, 2D formula has long gotten stale, going Souls-like would be the best thing for Castlevania series
Bud I just discovered your channel. I'll tell you first vid I watched was this one, searching bloodstained reviews. I recieved a link how I quit smoking. Watched that. No bs I am an decade younger than you but have been smoking 20 years. In my mid twenties I was a heroin dealer/ user. Before I got clean been 12 yrs btw I was doing a ball a day at least.
Cigarettes on the other hand I would say for me ar least is harder to quit! Every store that sells nutrients has them! Wtf.... I am taking your advice and way of inspiration. Froze my debit and credit cards today in Tupperware lol. No cash and a 3 day weekend coming up. I bought bloodstained to keep my itchy mind occupied this weekend. Ur an inspiration man I'll do this. Gross fact crunched numbers and when I quit I can afford a new car payment with the difference. Keep up the good vids bud. I watch a few retro reviews and holy hell you looked worse than I did on the dope. Cant wait to see how I'll look after i drop the store bought tar. U seem to be a great dude keep up the vids! Wish me luck.
Hey thank you! and good luck!! Quit for yourself no one else!
@@HappyConsoleGamer For sure. I got this just wanted to let u know a simple vid will motivate a life change. Much appreciated keep it up man. Well done.
Probably the only Kickstarter who get huge success !!!! Good Job Koji Igarashi sensei and this is the game where I don't mind buy it for my PS4, Xbox one, Switch and Steam.
Definitely isn't
Is this game a worthy successor to Castlevania?
Me: Looks as Lords of Shadow 2
Also me: *YES*
I feel exactly the same way, and I'm glad you love it. Bloodstained is amazing, and this is the perfect love letter to SotN.
That Macross jacket
I got my copy a few days ago and haven’t had the chance to open it. I’m glad to hear everyone is very happy with it.
I cam
for the review But now I need to get that Robotech jacket.
An absolute love letter to fans, I turned 32 on the 17th. So many memories are coming back playing this game, I have so much more to say but I wont without writing a book here on youtube.
Faith in the game industry..........RESTORED!
Just kidding, great video man. Happy you are enjoying it too.
This game has lived up to EVERY expectation I had set out for myself and this game. God I can’t stop playing it. Absolutely love it. So many old Castlevania nostalgia trips.
just noticed that with these glasses you look just like Gus from Recess (except the beard) lmaoo
Backed this for 150. Was so glad I did. I was worried about how it would be after the kickstarter games before. So glad Iga proved the critics wrong.
Wayforward stepped in and SAVED this game. I'm predicting this will sell best on Switch
2 massive Switch Bundle Giveaways going on right now! Plus a retro mini bundle giveaway contest!
What a horrible day to have a job. (I stole this joke). Yes!!! The game trailers alone have made this game worth it, haha!
You sir.... are amazing. Great line.
Agreed I got one hour in before bed liking it so far
hahahahahabha the same i thought!
I'm having so much fun with this game right now. Having just replayed SOTN about a year ago, it's crazy to see just how many parallels this game has to it. Can't wait for another!
its such a great looking game - sooo smooth too!
I can't wait to get mine after work today! Might call in sick tomorrow.. ;)
Do it!
As someone who didn't back this game, thanks to those that did. I'm having a blast playing this one. I hope you enjoy the perks you got for backing.
WHAT A
HORRIBLE
NIGHT TO
HAVE A
CURSE.
I gave you a "like" with a smile on my face as you ended your video pointing to the screen saying, "and this proves people still want 2D GAMES!!!" I couldn't agree more.
Another game to add to my list. I’ll be broke for the next year after buying all these great games coming out. 😭😭😭
To me it kinda looks like an HD version of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles but looks to play somewhat quicker.
Fellow backer here: I share your sentiments with SotN. Bloodstained has not only delivered but improved upon that old masterpiece. I am loving this game (yes, already beat it. yes, getting ready to wade through all the demons of hell once more).
One of the biggest lies on video game top 10 list is that Super Metroid is a better game than Symphony of the Night
Wow, tough choice... They're both masterpieces. I'm not a Nintendo guy at all but Super Metroid really is all that (and so is SotN).
After 54 plus hours playing
With the Main history completed, and every easter egg, achivement le secret done...
With every rank 9 grade 9 shards.
With every item as it for materials, food, equipement, weapons and quest.
I can say this game is pretty good.
I'm not even tired of that at all.
Hard and nigthmare área being a blast yo beat.
I gotta wait for delivery, so guess I'll play Curse of the Moon until it arrives. Konami execs crying like anime fans on ritual night...!
Did it live up to my expectations?
Nope.
It SURPASSES THEM.
I didn’t even know this was in the making, but if I had knew, I would have supported it.
But I’m going to support it now, by buying it. It simply makes me so happy seeing a game like this come to life in the way it has.
5 hours? It only took me 30 minutes to know that I was in love.
30 minutes? I aint played it and im in love
Bloodstained was worth the wait. David Hayter? Robbie Belgrade? Dude, MICHIRU YAMANE AND AYAMI KOJIMA?! This game couldn't possibly be any better.
If only it had been sprite based🤦♂️ I just hate the fact, That the 2D 3D ish graphics make the gameplay really clunky💯
Agreed!
@Braiking Boss i agree.. would have loved saturn-esque 2D sprites oozing beautiful animation!
I understand what you mean about that. But, no need to worry in this game. Gameplay is optimized to the max.
SOTN is definitely one of my all time favorite games, and bloodstained is my favorite new IP of this generation.
“I’m always happy when games are delayed”
...and the lie detector test determined that was a lie.
You are not the father!
something something a delayed game is eventually good
Franklin Bolden - /pretends to be shocked
i got the game and it is amazing, the people I am streaming it for are hooked as well. I am about 3 hours in and it has the full SOTN feel, music, and exploring. I wish i could of backed more as I was only able to afford the digital backing. The game is a solid 10/10
it's freaking amazing played yesterday for 7 hours and loved every bit of it!
Love this game been playing non stop for two days. I hate that none of the big gaming sites are not even covering or reviewing this game.
I purchased the game yesterday 6/18/19. And I just stop playing after 2 hrs: it brought a huge smile in my face. I love it !!!!
Love this game! Even more amazing is that it came out on my birthday.
Got my Switch backer copy on the way, and preordered digitally as games this good deserve to be available to access 24/7.
