Not as big of a jump as a 4070 Super was to be expected. Think this should be priced closer to 699-750, in my opinion for maximum value.

@@Hectorscarclub13I mean before the feds banned the chip, the 4090 for 1200 is honestly underpriced for what it does and offers. $1200 for the 4090 was the best valued card of this generation between all 3 brands. 4090 is capable for so much more than just gaming at 8k and getting 100 fps at ultra settings. At this point, Nvidia is trolling us.
The used AD103 is cut down too much and doesn't even end up in the middle between 4070 Ti and 4080, let alone the upcoming faster 4080 Ti.
At this list price, we should expect a good 4k card, not a 1440 card that can do 4k decently well.
The whole new lineup is still $100-$150 too expensive.

Hardware Unboxed said it pretty well: Nvidia has way more and better extra features like DLSS and Ray Reconstruction. So they can justify a higher price, and people still buy it. Don't forget that the last three years have had crazy inflation. The $800 12GB 3080 would cost $950 today. Here is your $100-$150 price increase.

    For anyone deciding between a RTX 4070 , 4070super, 4070ti, or 4070ti super
Do yourself a favor and buy either a 4070 or 4070super price range between those two are about ($580 -$650) only if you want the extra clock speed..
Don’t buy the 4070ti it’s still too over priced at about $760 $800 and only 9% faster than 4070super
If you don’t care for spending $850
Then the 4070ti super will offer a bit more performance and 4gb more vram..
But honestly the performance isn’t that noticeable.. unless you play on more demanding games then the extra 4gb vram will help but other wise just get the 4070 super you’ll save $200 and it will be similar performance..
These are just marketing schemes to get you to spend more..
I bought a 4070ti super and a 4070 ti super and compared them both on a msi Gaming x Slim and the performance was so ridiculously similar I returned the 4070ti super got my money back and kept the 4070 super… hope this helps 👍🏻

Hehe, I always like it when people say, with regards to the 4080, that if you were considering that model you might as well be getting a 4090... I don't know how true it might really have been at the 4090's launch MSRP, but at current actual prices the price difference between the cheapest 4080 and 4090 (on Newegg, new condition, shipped by Newegg) amounts to ~ a 4070 Ti (same parameters). Nothing to scoff at for most people, and that's not considering whether all cards would fit one's current case and/or PSU... (That's in Quebec, Canada btw, with the VAT included)

I was really happy with my GTX1080 for many years, and for about 20 years I always got the FASTEST card I could. Not this time as I can't justify the high end anymore due to diminishing returns etc. My GTX1080 started to get a little long in the tooth for a few games like Spider-Man Remastered. Right now I'm playing modded SKYRIM and at worse my GPU usage is 50% (before on my GTX1080 I got a few stutters due to my texture mods, but not now). My Ryzen 3000 CPU means that getting a faster GPU is problematic due to CPU bottlenecking (varies by game but on average a problem). So rather than UPDATE this system I plan to ONLY buy new games that run well on it. I only have so much time, and frankly I seem to mainly play Skyrim, Baldur's Gate 3 and a few other games that are so fun and run GREAT on my mid-range system I just have no incentive to buy another game for a long time anyway. A new monitor? Sure. A new gaming PC? Meh... assuming The Elder Scrolls 6 is good, let's see... release in 2028? Then two years to iron out the major bugs? 2030!

I'm certain your 4070 will not last nearly as long as your 1080ti did. That was an exceptional card. It leaped over its previous generation when raster was king. I predict the next gen middle class will make the 4070 not hold up well for the same, or even less money. How do I make this prediction? History. The 1080 followed a rather weak 980. Look at the 2080 performance and its price jump. It led to a 3080 with a comparatively bigger performance jump for less money. Supply is the thing that ruined that gen for us. Now, the 4080 was a desaster. The 5080 will be a bigger jump for less/same money putting pressure on lower cards as the 30 gen did. You will probably buy a new card in 2027, if you are very patient but many people in your position will already buy next year. I think. Or, maybe I'm completely off, but I doubt it. Greetings.

I found out that the ASUS TUF RTX 4070TI Super variant is $850. It’s seems like it’s decent. However the 7900XT will get a price cut down to $650. This means for $200 less I can get 20GB VRAM on a 320 bit memory bus, better raterzation performance, and better value. The drivers form AMD have improved a lot. They rarely bug out and when they do it’s very easy to fix it by simply restarting the service and or using a stable driver. Also VR on AMD has been getting good as well. I tried the Quest 2 with link cable and it worked flawlessly. Also the index also works well with it as well. So Unless I see the RTX 4070ti super get a $150 price cut down to $700 I’m sticking with AMD.

Sure, if you are 30+ years old and living with your parents subsisting on your sole income of a paper route the pennies might be important and will not be canceled out by efficiency since daddy pays the electric bill. But if techtubers insist on including it at least use the MSRP of the cards since sales come and go and something a competitor might do to mute a launch probably is not going to stick around.

I can't think of too many games where a 4090 needs DLSS or maybe even a 4080 too. So the 4070ti Super can use/need that feature to make 4K a very plausible option. The 4080 is ~2.9x the graphical performance of the 1080 (which I have now).
The 4080 also has 178% the TDP of the 1080.
Its price - adjusted for inflation - is also 178% that of the 1080.
In 8 years, my performance per buck and Watt would've roughly tripled if I assume the 4080 super would be a factor 3.0 better. Plus it gets raytracing. I'm honestly not impressed by these numbers.
