    I bought a 2015 Vulcan S650 for my first bike. It was light, and low enough to learn on. Bought mine with about 2K and now have over 20K 3 years later I'm still loving the bike. Does everything, and the GF loves going 2 up with our Bluetooth helmets. Can't recommend this motorcycle enough.

    Just bought this exact spec today for my first bike and I must say, I will be surprised if I ever feel the urge to get rid of it even if I get something else. If you are intimidated or put off by the 650cc engine I assure you it is smooth as silk and very forgiving. Easy to handle and cruise but still has the power in the upper rpm range making it seamless. The seat is wonderful too.

      Its a great first bike but when I got a Sportster S I told myself I’d still ride the Vulcan S from time to time. But I never did, I rhode the Sportster S every chance I got and the Vulcan S just sat in the garage. I eventually sold it.

    Superb bike - all aspects except the chain lubing without centre stand. Been riding for 60 years and age forced me to choose a bike that was lighter, lower and still fun. Down from Vulcan 800 Classic, ST1100, Deauville 750 etc but the Vulcan S ticks all the boxes - camping and touring trips around Europe a cinch. If you are thinking of one just do it, you'll love it.

    • @ragarse3
      @ragarse3 11 місяців тому +10

      @@jDot2414 Hi. Well it's a naked so fine up to 75mph. After depends on weather, temperature and wind. Ive got a cafe fairing for summer and a large screen - both Kawasaki - for winter. Just returned from 3 day tour with a mix of highway and rural roads and with a full camping load - and I mean full - and it was stable, comfortable and sang like a bird - averaging 66 mpg.
      But like all nakeds 2hrs is enough on highway for me at 70mph. Will do it easily but wind eventually gets tiresome. Ok after a break - but yes will do highways perfectly well. For me its a true all rounder and bimbles along sweetly when cruising or hustles through fully loaded on highways. A surprisingly good tourer - solo that is.

    I never thought that I'd consider a cruiser but this is on my new bike short list. Like you said it's not too 'cruisery' in appearance, and being short I do love the idea of being able to flat foot. The option of moving the foot pegs back really appeals. And you make it look really fun to ride. Great review 🙂.

I too have watched many his videos, especially the low speed skill drills. And tried my first panic stop series as he suggested got up to like 35 five and the experience is much different than 20 mph as he said it would be. Gonna drill like this for the next week or two then try at 40 mph.. Just so many tips he has offered which I am sure will make me a better thereby a safer rider.

    What I don't like is the lack of power, looking for something lightweight and that handles good.

      not worried about upgrading yet cuz i just bought the navi in february but i am researching now just in case.

    Picked up a 2021 Vulcan s a few months ago after starting out on a 2007 Versys 650 a couple of years ago, which was too big for my 5'6" 70 kg frame. Loving being able to reach the ground flat footed, and these bike are so light! Have adjusted the pegs and changed seats (which you can easily do with the Vulcan s) 'till I got it to my favourite riding position. Really surprised me how far you can lean in the twisties (not as far as the Versys of course...what a bike!) and I love the stabilty it has on the freeway. Have taken it for 8-9 hour, 2-3 days rides and you feel it by the 3rd day, but I found the stock seat pretty good. Have put some led spotlights on for better visibility, and swap the stock exhaust for a Delkovec every so often just for fun. Easy bike to maintain too. Tried a Puig screen, but took it off as it directs wind away from your body to your head, which can create instability in handling. In Australia our Vulcan s' are restricted when you are on a probationary licence, so have about 14 hp less. I'm looking forward to de restricting mine when on full licence as everyone says they are much smoother and noticeably more powerful. Enjoyed watching this video, and so many of your instructional videos, which have really helped me to become a more confident (and hopefully skilled) rider. When my son decided to get his 'L's for a bike, I sat him down and made sure he got hooked on your videos too.

    I have the 2018 I bought used as my second bike. Saddlebags, windscreen, sissy bar, LED lights. Not as large an aftermarket as a Harley but no one has as large an aftermarket support as Harley. People are impressed when I tell them that it has the same engine as the Ninja 650. More than enough power to get you out of a tight spot if you need it. The engine really wakes up when you get it over 4500 RPM but below that the bike is easy to handle. It's a great middleweight cruiser.
    The only reason I might upgrade is to gain some more long distance touring capacity and comfort on the highway for an extended period of time. It's plenty comfortable at 65MPH and below. Once I reach 70MPH I start to get some buzz in the handlebars even with bar end weights. I may try some super heavy weight bar end weights to see if that helps that problem.

      I don’t know what bikes you’ve ridden before but the Vulcan S stock seat is hard as a rock. After 2 hours my back was aching. I checked on replacing with a Corbin seat but $600 price discarded that idea. Eventually removed stock seat and took it to an auto upholstery shop near me. They added 2” memory foam to stock foam and recovered with cross-stitched vinyl for $325. The seat is now adequate.

    I have a 2015 model and it's pretty good, easy to ride and quick, but not so fast that newbies would get into trouble easily -- the power is at 5k rpms and up, and it's not beastly even then. 50-55 mpg on the highway. However the seat is garbage for anything longer than about half an hour. If you want something for road trips you'll want a new seat, or at least a pad, and probably a windshield too.

    My wife rides a 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S. She absolutely loves it. She is 5'2" tall. She started on a Honda Rebel 300 and moved up to this after about a year. She's pretty sure she found her forever bike. We cruise all over the state of Oklahoma and we've been into Arkansas and Texas. Her only complaint is that she wants a better seat, but that is pretty common on most cruiser bikes for long distance riding.

      Sorry, I didn't see your question until now. Yes, we still have the bike. She still loves it. Maintenance is pretty easy. Oil changes are easy. I take it to a dealer for chain maintenance. It's a bit of a pain since I don't have a good way to get the back wheel off of the ground, but the shop near me will clean/lube/adjust the chain for about $20, so it's worth it.@@Abi-yt4te

      @@williamirwin4154 You can go to Harbor Freight and buy a motorcycle lift for cheap to get the wheels off the ground. That way you can clean the chain yourself and keep the 20 dollars. I'm assuming that would work on a Vulcan S but I don't know for sure because I have a different bike.

    I own a Tri-Glide due to my wife's many health issues, but I'd LOVE to own a Vulcan S. It's pretty good that you like the Vulcan S and compared it to a Harley and a Indian which both cost twice as much as the Kawaski. That says a lot.
    I like everything about the Vulcan S, to me it is very comfortable, and it doesn't have the chug chug chug of a V-Twin. I like the way it revs. Hats off to Kawasaki for putting the in line two engine on a cruiser. I WANT ONE.'
    One little note about you video, I liked it, but you use the "H" word a lot. Every time you spit that word out of your mouth, Satan probably smiles a little bigger.

    being only 5.0 ft tall this bike ergonomically is the best bike for me. The only regret I have is that I bought it last year instead of many years back. I have the footpegs adjusted, the handlebars and the seat for shorter people. It has thé best mix of cruiserstyle and sportstyle.

      Question, can you stop with one foot on your foot brake and left foot on ground? Can you reach ok, with the foot pegs being forward rather than mid pegs.

      The first ride I made I had to get used to the forward position of the footpegs but quickly I loved the forward position and I have no problems reaching the ground.

    They got the colors right. It's a shame it doesn't have cruise control. Or rode modes. That would bump the price though. So maybe that's a good thing.

    • @Rectal_Splash
      @Rectal_Splash Рік тому +1

      I had a 2018 model and I agree, cruise control would have been really nice for the highways but I don't think the power delivery and how much it was putting out really warranted needing ride modes. Relatively tame if you respect it, and even if you made a mistake and were a little too twitchy on the throttle I found it wasn't so bad you could get yourself in huge amounts of trouble. All in all, I'm glad they didn't have ride modes to keep the cost down because I feel it may have been a little wasted
      Edit: colours were great as well, had a matte black one just like this one. Was a great first bike.
