Just buy a chassis and source the parts yourself. I’d much rather choose my own parts than use the cheap junk most kits use that’s just going to get swapped out anyway. And it’ll probably perform better and mine ended up being a lot cheaper too.
I'm in the process of building a Meus MB18 with mostly Meus and Injora parts. There won't be a single Traxxas part on it! Building a rig from the ground up just takes a lot of research and planning to figure out what will and won't work well together, and you'll probably still have to modify a few things, but solving unexpected challenges can be part of the fun too.
Luckily there are a million chassis’ to choose from. Building a few from scratch is so much more rewarding and you get way better performance. I fear a builders kit would come with very cheap parts, or cost an arm and a leg
I never understood the distaste for the stock electronics package on the ascent 18. Its brushed, makes PLENTY of torque (these guys are just used to cruise control brushless stuff where you dont have to throttle up for different loads), CRAZY runtime with the stock battery, stock servo has plenty of oomph, and the "whining" that people complain about is minimal in real life. With some cheap / free mods to move weight around the ascent 18 is a great truck. Get some injora steel links and driveshafts and you really dont need more than that to have a super durable capable lil crawler.
The HPI venture also struggled at the top of the Escalator. Good thing the rear bumper on the Ascent doubles as a wheelie bar. Will be fun watching you improve this truck with aftermarket goodies esp. as aftermarket parts already exist. Concerning the course, it may be good to do a "maintenance" update to the indoor course to start 2025. I love the consistency of your indoor course but I think the Escalator and Hells Gate ready for some textured bed liner (Maybe even the steps, but I think the wear on the steps improves the course). Idea is a bit of a "how to" focused on returning a course to its former glory. Then re-run a few trucks that recently struggled, and maybe a few more favorites, to establish a new base-line and demonstrate how the impact to performance. I would love to see a new "element" added to the course (I'm thinking a challenging return road/downhill to follow the climbing elements). Last thought is the addition of a timed loop, "Top Gear" style, to measure vehicle performance against the clock on a repeatable test track (apply a timing penalty for Hands of God) including a magnetic scoreboard (or two to separate stock and modified) identifying the order of finish for each participant which could be re-visited as new vehicles are tested or improvements are added. Love the channel. Keep the videos coming.
I like your idea and would like to add on, another idea that would be good is to run the trucks with smaller batteries than the stock ones and relocate them to the slider or somewhere near the front, reason being the ascent 18 doesn’t need brass or a change of electronics to see it improve and if the idea is to promote to consumers how to save money or better said redirect where they should spend then this is a good demonstration. In totality the biggest priorities are metal wheels and softer tires and using smaller batteries when attempting more technical obstacles the exceptions would only be people who prefer aesthetics over performance resulting in being more inclined to a trail truck
The foams seem way too stiff. I put a injora purple viper in my ascent and it works really good. No cogging, and the motor can spin so slow that I can read the words on the outrunner. It is pretty fast,it would be a good power plant for the scale scout. Put some injora 58mm mud paws on it!
It definitely needs the same "free" mods the OG Ascent 18 benefits from. Battery up front, ESC on the skid, etc. Needs all that weight up front to counterbalance that giant booty 🤣
GREAT VIDEO 👍👍 YA I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I OPENED THE ASCENT 18 TRUCK AND HOW SMALL IT IS FOR 1/18 .. I KNEW IT LOOKED SMALL. NOW THIS SCOUT LOOKS GOOD. CRAZY ON SIZE DIFF. 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

Man, sooo many RTR 18th and 24 scales.... How about us builders! I wish there were options for kits to build yourself. Great breakdown of this unit

I know right! I bought the ascent 18 for my son and now I want to build one but not buy one just to take it apart and replace every thing

@@flyr19it’s so much more rewarding then just buying a basic kit. Especially since most things in the kit will get replaced anyways.

Oh snap! Finally a 1/18 with a decent body on it🤘🏻
How bout the k10 or the f150 on the trx4ms those not decent?
@@outdoorsdaily2576the f-150 high trail has a lot of great detail same with the fms lc80 1/18
This truck is pretty cool. I do like how Redcat gives you adjustable shock mount locations

I've been holding off on this mini scale stuff... but I'll get this
Ordered up a green version this morning. Now I'll watch the video to see what I'm getting into. Being I live in AZ, I love supporting Redcat.
Geez! All these new releases. I like the one.Im gonna go broke.
I had a scout 2 years ago, I really want this. And a spare body to make look like my old buddy.
Venture18 took the spotlight this Dec. Imo.
this truck was in your hpi video. sick truck! love your channel! keep on rcing!

It look so good with the sun setting behind it. Great review
Amazing video! Love the new upgraded look of the body.
These look so good! Well done Redcat!
These rigs take 3s no problem. Been running my OG Ascent on 3s since release. The electronics can handle it.
This one has a great look to it.
I was waiting for years red cat to lunch the Ascent 18 international scout. My only bad is, it's not hard body but I can live with that.

I always thought of the Deadbolt as a Scout. If i was into scalers i would buy it.
I like the looks of this one 😊
Cement the coarse with the fabric drop cloths won't take long will change course a little but make it much better
Nice body but prefer the green one myself. Great review, thanks 👍🏻
Awe man that is sic i need this to add to the bigger one
From a viewers point of view I would like to see some updates and maintenance on the indoor course.
Very cool! Diggin all the colors!🤘💯🔥

I'm sold
Where’d you get the trees background on your course? Asking for a friend 👀
Will a Flysky G7P bind to this esc/rec?
OH AND “ NEW SUBSCRIBER “ 😁😃🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
How is the drag break did they fix it

don't rework the course just add some more texture on the big hill... and then make a second one.. :)
Way to ruin my day. Now i need it
Price point the same as the ascent 18?
$150 if you follow the link in the desc.
$150...
@mikestrobel4210 ty kindly!
How does this have lights but same electronics?
The lights are plugged into the usually unusedCh3 port.
Nice Nice
Wish it was cheaper and a different body
Wow! I can only pray now that they are going in this direction for an Ascent Fusion 18....wishful thinking.
Of only it was straight axle
Sweeeeeeeet
Been asking redcat for this for over a year! Finally!
The whine everyone says these trucks have must be at a frequency i can't hear. The trx4m on the other hand is bad
🤦🏼♂️ The TRX4M is NOT bad....I have a few of them & have been enjoying the hell out of my TRX4Ms!
Ascent 18 is so bad. I hear it from 4 to 8pm every night lol
