I think Samsung Gear VR messed up my eyes. When I close my eyes I can't see.

There is no cover because the phone would overheat with all that hot air being trapped inside.
Mr Dilrd maybe they should put ventilation holes in the cover. it just looks way too naked without it :/
lolwutdavid lmaoo they actually made something like that. Not by Samsung but a different company. It works as a fan for cooling and an extra battery/charger.

I glued a small fan inside the cover. It works great to cut down on heat and steaming up the lens.
I've gone through a full charge on the battery without the phone even getting warm.
I took the fan out of an old dead laptop. It was just the right size and was meant to vent out the side of the laptop, so it pushes the hot air out the top. I hooked it up to a tiny old portable phone charger and glued that to the outside of the cover. It adds a few ounces to the front of the headset, but it is worth it. You can buy similar things on Ebay or Amazon, but I like mine better and it cost nothing but time and junk that was laying around.
my S7 gets super hot after 20 30 min and stop working , a complete failure imo

hello guys. i have question... is that controller tracking its position automatically ? I mean if i move with controller, and point on something, is same reflected in VR?... or this are just buttons ?
just curious, the gear vr has a dedicated app for youtube so the movies I'd rent or buy I'd be able to watch them using gear vr right, since Netflix doesn't always have movies available for streaming also you can't crop Netflix to Samsung's "aspect ratio"(yet) if I feel like watching on my S8+ do the movies on youtube automatically adjust to the S8+ "aspect ratio"
I want a VR headset so I can stream my laptop screen onto my S8 can I do this with the gear VR or does it just load the occulus app as soon as it's plugged in?

I saw you were looking at a webpage in VR at the end of the video - does the added ppi help with reading the text on the pages? How does the resolution on the S8 effect small objects rendered at a distance?

Question, which Oculus can't seem to answer. I have VR games downloaded from the Google Play store that I want to be able to play (for the kids)... but I can't seem to get to them outside the Oculus menu. What I mean is that, even if I have a Google Play game open, the second I plug in the Galaxy 8 to the headset, the Oculus menu overrides it and I can 'only' get games through their app. Is there a way to play games like I simply can in a cheap headset? Like, even a 'cardboard' one, I could always see games no problem.
Does this also cover your peripheral vision too?? or does it look like you are looking at a square screen

Hey. I picked up the Gear VR for my Note 8 and I've been facing issues with the clarity. Regardless of how I adjust the lens distance, it doesn't enhance the quality to what we see in your video. I've cleaned the lenses, even removed my scratch guard, but it still doesn't help. Is there a way to check the authenticity of the product? I bought it directly from the Samsung web-store. Suggestions please?
I have the Galaxy 7 Vr headset and I have never used the cover lol. When I use it for more than 20 minutes, my phone usually gives me the, "overheat" message. Not using the cover just makes it quicker for me to take the phone out of the headset. I am very happy that the new head set comes with a controller.
Is there any way at all to use the ZTE Axon 7 on this headset Its fine if there is a long process.

2 questions. 1: wtf is the point of the usb port on the headset? it can't charge the dang phone nor can I use it to tether my headset to my computer with riftcat. 2: can I connect 2 of samsung's controllers to the device for 2-handed functionality, or did samsung say 'screw you, you get only one'?
There's a game bundle or immersive entertainment bundle which we can choose with the VR offer for Samsung S8+. Would like to know from you guys as to which bundle would be the better option to go with ?

Hellz yea it overheats. Mine got so hot it melted my girlfriend. I got jealous, because I could never make her melt like that, so we got in a huge fight and broke up. She with Essate now. He's apparently always on, and always hot, and I'm just here alone with my bagel...

How does it even track the controller in 3d space? There's no sensors on the controller as far as i can see o.O
I have finally got my new gear VR. But I don't know how to put the front cover back on.
Isn't the point of no cover on the front so that the phones camera can be used as well for e.g. switching to view whats in front of you or perhaps use that image inside the 3d rendered image or other things using the camera?

Does the new 2017 Gear VR headset has the same distortion (image warping) problem as the 2016 model had? I mean when you focus on an abject while turning your head around, is the image still stretching/warping like crazy?? The 2016 model was a huge disappointment because of this distortion problem... I wonder if Samsung/Oculus corrected that. They state "The headset has the same FOV and lens size as the 2016 Gear VR but apparently now has 'advanced distortion correction technology to minimize motion sickness'." - I hope that's true. Can you please confirm? :-)

Why do the images bend and warp as I move my head in the new gear vr?? It ruins the whole experience. Its like looking through a glass bottle :( and being on acid when all outlines bend like jelly

Sort of, it will not be anything remotely like the Rift/Vive, but you can get a better VR experience.

I'm waiting for my free Gear VR and have a question for you, which is more of a concern. I wear glasses and noticed that you didn't address any adjustments for people with eye prescriptions. In my case as a diabetic, my vision fluctuates where even my glasses aren't always tuned to my eyesight. Well, my question is, does the Gear VR have a vision adjuster? Years ago, I had binoculars that adjusted to one's own vision; no glasses necessary; hoping for some of the same, thanks.

Yes apps which are specifically made for the controller around 70 apps are in development.
That one gripe you have with the phone showing on the front is ridiculous lol but to each there own. 1 percent actually place that cover over there phone. Only makes the phone hitter faster lol

I had the original Gear VR. I don't use it any more because the picture was too pixelated. It was like looking at an old CRT monitor. Is this any sharper, coupled with an S8+?
What phone you had? S8 is still 1440p, so proabably same. Your're waiting for 4K displays and higher amigo.. or get PC VR.... or just wait a lot longer. They say won't be decent till at least 4K per eye

No, that's a legit question. Obviously, Samsung won't want the controller to work with any other phone/headset combination, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. The Daydream controller has already been hacked to work on PCs. It's just a matter of intercepting and analyzing the wireless protocol.
