Hi Caroline, Ive only lived in 4 houses in my life, we moved to our current home in 2013 and like you, I pinch myself everytime I drive into the proprety as I'm amazed i live here. Its 120 year old Edwardian villa looking out to sea in Whitehead, N.Ireland. To say this home feeds my sole is an understatement, from its still intact period details, to the views, I feel so blessed. Enjoyed your Vlog, its prompted me to put together a photo book of memories from places I lived, thank you 😃

Thanks for sharing Caroline! I had a fairly nomadic childhood due to my Dad’s job in The Avon & Somerset police force and prior to my marriage in 1988 had lived in 8 police houses starting in Taunton in 1963, Radstock, back to Taunton, Weston-Super-Mare, Bath (2 houses) & Chipping Sodbury, then Yate (in South Gloucester)! I have foggy memories of the early ones like you, but many happy memories in the latter ones! Since marrying we have moved several times adding 4 more houses to my list lol, our current home is the longest I have lived anywhere in my nearly 58 years and I think it will be our forever home!

I am from an army family so have had 10-15 homes in different countries. So I’ve never really become attached to the houses as we moved on every two years.I bought my first home in 1992 aged 25 yrs then my next in 1997 and in the following 10 years moved 6 times as I used do do them up and move on trying to pay my mortgage off by the time I was 40. I managed it aged 39 and 11 months ! My favourite is my current bungalow and I plan to stay long term .

Lovely video Caroline, my husband was a Devonian we had a friend who lived in a thatched cottage it was lovely but I don't think there was a straight wall or floor in place. You have been lucky enough to live in some lovely homes it was a very interesting chat to sit and have lunch to. We spent every summer when the kids were at school going down and staying with Keith's Mum I know these narrow lanes very well I absolutely hated them in the dark. Take care. 🐸x

Hi Caroline, I really enjoyed this video, I really don’t have much attachment to houses either. My mum and dad lived in the house I was born in until my dad died and eventually mum had to move out into social housing and had a ground floor flat. Mums died now too though. I think I moved possibly 8 times and think we are now settled. Thank you x

Only ever lived in one family home which is where my father still lives my mum passed away 19years ago this month but he thought he was OK to maintain it... Meaning my sister and her husband and daughter when she is home and the 2 beagles could move in (crafty). It has no meaning to me now lovely memories of my mum and I as there was a woodland and stream right outside the back gate but when 1 was nearly 4 the devil spawn was born and I got out as soon as I could. Well you can't choose family caroline

Hello Caroline. Thoroughly enjoyed - as it told us about your life as much as where and when you lived in the various houses. Thank you. (Will definitely check out your life before YT video). A friend of mine moved to the house next door! (terraced house scenario). I have only lived in 5 houses - 2 of those were whilst working abroad (Budapest and Paris). I experienced a tinge of sadness at saying goodbye to the main family home this year (where I ended up caring for my Mum who had V Dementia). I moved in May (after a 9 month selling nightmare) saying goodbye to some happy but many unhappy family home memories. Am happy that the new owners of that house are now knocking 7 bells out of it. The shell will remain, but the changes within will almost 'erase' some unhappy memories and the move has provided me with the opportunity to write the last few chapters of my life (I've had my half-time orange after all !). I may swing past the family home if and when I go back (am 127 miles away now).....maybe . x Loved the orange gonk and Frog Cottage stories ! x

Hi Cariline, thanks for this, it was a bit of nostalgic fun and memories, especially your times living and working on the cruise ships, I could tell you were very happy at that time by your body language, also the cottage with your 🐸 ornaments and hanging basket outside the front door, how lovely, I used to collect them years ago to. My friends who live in Cornwall gave their home a name, so when I write them that's what I put on the envelope, I've only ever lived at houses/flats with numbers so I'm always telling people about what it's like to live at a house like that, I'm into all that stuff, astrology, numerology, feng shui.
We live at a number nine, means leave your troubles at the door and it's probably the only home I've lived in were I've felt settled strangely enough, although I followed some of the feng shui of having your living space a certain way by introducing plants and coins behind the front door etc.
Anyway Caroline see you on your next vlog, take care, love to Ashley, William and lovely cat Ron xxxx 🏚🛖🏡🏩🛳⛴

Loved this one, think I will do a journal page for the houses I’ve lived in, similar to you that I haven’t really had any emotional attachment to houses I’ve lived in as an adult, but my parents are still in my childhood home and my son has a bedroom there that was my bedroom. I’m a few miles up the road from Ponty and remember it being a polytechnic 😁

I’ve lived in Leeds and London, then moved to Glasgow in 1991. I’ve lived in my present flat since 2004. I now want to move to Gourock or near there.

Thanks for sharing Caroline ☺️. I have no attachment to houses/homes for myself but did really really struggle when my brother and I had to sell our family home when mum was living in the Care Home. My mum had found it impossible to sell the family home after my dad had passed away many years previously. My personal take on that is that she felt closer to dad and wanted to stay. I wonder if some people become more attached to houses/ homes if they’ve raised their families in them. Xxxxx

As for your family home where Mum is, if you are anything like me you will have a big sook when you can no longer go there. I see my parents house where I grew up every day and it makes me so sad despite the happy memories. I can still picture being in the garden with my Dad and his shed, everything. Now he has passed it’s a happy sad challenge seeing others living there.

Thanks for this - it was really interesting and I guess to be expected given Ashley's line of work! It made me stop and think, and as it turns out, I have lived in 15 different houses, and in 5 different countries. We have never done any renovating - think that would have been disastrous for us, although we did build on a screened-in porch in one house. I meet so many people who are fascinated by the fact that I've actually lived other places . I'm a Brit, moved to Canada at 19 (not by choice, although I did like it, except for the cold), then to Australia (God's country!), then to the US, to Hong Kong, and finally back to the US. I would move back to the UK in a heartbeat, and would love to visit Australia again. Hong Kong was the time of my life, and was absolutely incredible.

I feel somewhat deprived 😂 I have moved once and I am 52. I moved out of my parents house at 24 and have lived in the same house ever since. We were lucky we were given some money and also saved money to move into a forever home. Looking back, part of me wishes we had pushed ourselves to move to a bigger house but part of me is glad we have paid off our mortgage. We have no children so a 3 bed decent size house is more than enough for us but sometimes wish we had moved to the seaside or country.
