This video was like watching an archeologist's documentary! Every find was a treasured item that tells the story of the people who came before! You have such an appreciation of the history and how wonderful you are taking steps to preserve or utilize your finds! Kitty steps in the concrete... now that's priceless archeology treasure!
Thank you so much!
Leno..you are right on. It was so much fun to watch..so interesting.
Well said !! I always learn something in every one of Benita’s videos. Fascinating
What I love most about your videos on the summerhouse is hearing and feeling the happiness in your voice. You’ve found and are making a personal bit of paradise Thank you for bringing us along on this adventure. I always feel inspired after your videos to make progress on my homemaking and gardening. 👩🌾
Aww, thank you! This is a passion project for sure!
Me too!

Great video! I love that you are honoring the past inhabitants by carefully sorting, cleaning, and utilizing the treasures they left behind with such respect. You are such an inspiration to me as well in my own home projects, giving me the courage to take risks and see what happens! So far, so good 😊
Love the kitty paw-prints ❤
So so sweet, right?
That house is lucky to have you. What a treasure.
Aww, that’s so sweet of you to say!😊
There is something so special about restoring the old and forgotten treasures.
It does feel special!
How satisfying was the sorted hardware! 10 out of 10! 😁
So happy you enjoyed that like I did!
Much admiration Benita. The house and grounds look spectacular. You have done an awesome job. You can see all the love and attention. I’m sure the house appreciates the gentle restoration.
Thank you so much!😊
I love that old peg board you found! It looks great on the timbers in the entryway. So functional too. I love how commited you are to keeping so many original features. Good for you!!
That one is a gem!
I can't wait to show your videos to my Grandma. Her father was Swedish and she always thought about what her life would have been like living in Sweden. It's such a treat getting a glimpse into such history. Thank you for sharing. Your content is so informative and meaningful. Lots of love from the United States.
Aww, that's so sweet! I hope she'll enjoy watching!
I love the reverence you have for the history of your beautiful property! I enjoy your work so much ❤
Thank you so much!
Not gooseberries, they have thorns. Looks like blackcurrants.
I’m impressed with your hard work and by how methodical you are. Inspirational content ❤
They ARE black currants! Just saw that they'd ripened black! Excited to try and make tea from the leaves!
The first time I visited Europe (as a teenager, half a century ago), my little room at a B&B in England felt like a cave: it had been wallpapered so many times there were no corners or edges anywhere. Everything was rounded at wall and ceiling joins. I remember wishing I had X-ray eyes to see through it all!
I completely understand! I'm so curious to see what's behind the top layer of the rooms we haven't touched yet!
This beautiful old house is full of history and treasures
So full of history! I love that!
I love your journey in this house! Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you so much for following along!
You really did find TREASURES!! And each one tells a story…….wonderful 😊!!!
Perhaps not of much monetary value but priceless to me!
So exciting to bring "new" treasures to light in your summer home! Particularly the time stamps, wallpapers, cat paw prints, lovely old table and loom... Proof that homes have living histories - and many stories to tell! ❤️
So much fun discovering these!
What a treat to see all these treasures. Thank you for sharing, and making such an interesting video. Europeans who emigrated to Canada created farms and tools just like home. My grandparents farm looked just like this, in the end. No one to appreciate all the treasures, at that time - so sad. You are doing a wonderful service to history and showing how much has been lost in disrespecting our past.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Loved all the treasure finds and the way you have stored them for future reference for new owners. The past is always exciting to find in hidden nooks and crannies cannot wait to see more updates on your lovely summer house.
Thank you so much for watching!
Don't you just love when your old house talks to you? I get excited when I start noticing things that aren't immediately apparent. I love that you are documenting your changes as well. Do you have a mini flat bar? If not, I would love to send you one. I find it incredibly useful. And that loom!!! How exciting!
Ooh, what's a mini flat bar?
@@BenitaLarsson I think flat bars are also called crowbars and/or pry bars, with some variations on width etc. And I agree - mini crowbars are so useful!
@@katemarshall7439 @janebutz5375 I see, yes, I do have one!🛠
Mine is about 2 inches wide and about 8 inches long. It’s flat, unlike a crowbar. I use it to pry off trim or to remove the vertical “parting”strip between double-hung windows. And, it fits nicely in a tool or tackle box. Love your treasures!@@BenitaLarsson
Wow, oh, wow! Those kitty paw prints are the best for me 😺
I truly admire your orderliness and making do with the stuff you found. It may be just plain, old junk for some, but you turn it into a whole new level.
Aww, thank you so much!
I love the stories of buildings. Our little barn has all of the tractor oil changes from the 1940's through the 1970s logged on the wall. I can't imagine finding a potential Neolithic artifact! I love seeing you having so much fun with this project.
Oh, wow that's so cool!
I am an archaeologist and have worked at sites from the 1800s here in the States. Lovely to see you document with such precision and care! If you are ever removing grass/topsoil and find a well-defined, square area of darkened earth, that’s likely an old privy (outhouse) site. Lots of treasures and information in there for us…maybe not for everyone else 😅. Keep up the great work!
Will be on the lookout!👀
TY for sharing your treasures with us! It's wonderful that you have such a deep appreciation for the history of this property and want to preserve it. This place could not have fallen into the hands better stewards that will bring it back to its former glory. Under your care this property will thrive. I'm sure the neighbors appreciate your efforts as well.
Thank you, I know they do. They’re happy that someone is looking after the house😊
Your comment is soooo true and you found exactly the right words, Shiryone 👍😊👍
C'est extraordinaire les magnifiques trésors qu'une vieille maison peut révéler😍Merci pour ce partage et à bientôt😘😘
Merci! So happy that you're following along!
Such a treat to watch you and your progress. Thank you for sharing your journey ❤!
Thank you so much for watching!
I googled 1870s attire just to get a picture of what someone would have looked like walking around that house at that time. It’s just amazing to step back in time. - from US
The past owners were farmers so I’m imagining simple and practical 👌🏻
How wonderful to know some of the history of your house and to be able to continue adding to the history, for future owners of your home! 😍
I just love trying to piece all this together!
How wonderful you saved the old wallpaper ‼️ I’m an artist and would love to see all the patterns. Huuummmm … Maybe a BOOK in your future … documenting and refurbishing this wonderful treasure of a home. 🌸🌸🌸
We have talked about making one for us and one to leave in the house😊
Love seeing all the old hardware pieces you found and sorted. Reminded me of my Dad's workshop when I was a child.
I'm so glad you see in them what I see!
Restoration is such a beautiful journey! Thanks for another video.
Thanks so much for following along!
What fun--thanks for sharing all your finds. Love the table and the work bench and the loom. Great!
Thanks so much for watching me find them!
Oh my goodness, such wonderful treasures! I love old homes and I love you are documenting your finds.
Old homes have so much charm!
Thank you Benita for sharing this beautiful house restoration, and it's so relaxing to watch as well.
So happy you enjoyed it!
Oh my....what a lovely video ❤. You sure know how to calm my nerves, lol. Lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful. What great finds. I’m so glad you can use and appreciate them.
So happy about our finds!
What a lovely and refreshing video. Love your summer house, the respect for every piece of history the house is bringing to you and how you honor those treasures placing as part of your "new" decoration. Bravo!
Thank you so much!
Wow this is exciting. I love your enthusiasm for clearing up the property too! Great video Benita.
I'm so happy you're watching! Thank you!
I love seeing you bring your country home back to life, and the care you are taking in restoring what you can. Look forward to the next video.😎
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!
So many great finds. I love that you're rescuing the house from under the layers.
It’s a passion project for sure!😊
So many wonderful treasures! What a delight.
Yes, none of much monetary value but I love them!
Your house has a lot of history and treasures that you found. That's wonderful how you're keeping all of the old wallpapers in your green chest. The kitty paw prints that were in front of the wood burning stove are absolutely precious! 😺🐾
Thanks so much for watching!
So fun to watch, I smiled with every treasure you showed. Thanks for preserving and appreciating all of them, I so love that. And I enjoy the music in your recent videos very much.
Thanks so much for watching!
The weather and sky looks amazing! I love the how you have cleaned up outside making the lawn and plants look fresh. I cant wait to see what you do with the gates. All the detail against the simple backdrop should be stunning. Update us soon! ❤
The weather has been very varied. Tricky when restoring windows 😅
This is quite an adventure you are having. Thank you for sharing 💞
Yes, quite the adventure!😅
Such a lovely place you have there ! It's really coming together. So much hard work, and finding treasures. Such a happy place to be. Thanks for sharing 🥰💐🌞🏜💗✝🇺🇲

So happy you enjoyed it!
Love your adventures! Have fun and enjoy the treasure hunting!

I truly appreciate how you are adding to the history of the house with your notations on the back of things.❤ And the hardware you found and sorted!🤩
Thank you so much!
I loved seeing all the changes and finds. Thank you Benita!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing this magnificent journey with us! It is absolutely magical watching you bring it all back to life ❤️
Thank you so much for watching!
Lovely video! I have a soft spot for historic homes, and being of Scandinavian descent your property beings back warm memories of my grandparents farm in North Dakota, US. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching!🇸🇪
Really enjoyed this! Can't wait to see what's next.
Yay, so happy you liked it!
One of my favourites so far. I love discovering old metal pieces and have a drawer unit full of them. This was very satisfying to watch 😁
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Everything you do is bringing order and attention. It is also very satisfying to watch. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching!
Ah, the lovely table! I’m pretty sure it’s an old card table. We have a similar one, with a hinged table top.
It’s folded out when used for cards (or more likely, fika 💕), and doubled up when used as a narrow wall-hugging table. Our table top pieces were badly bent over the years, so we use it with only one piece, just like you are.
The top is rotated 90 degrees when folded out, using the plug-like mechanism. That way it’s more sturdy than just folding it out onto the extra leg.
Thank you for clearing that up! That plug bit really puzzled me!
@@BenitaLarsson My mom bought an apartment 35 years ago in Norway, with treasures in the attic storage 😊 So the tables basically have the same provenance.
Great finds Benita, loved your tool collection. Wallpaper is exciting to find too.Great job clearing your garden 👍🌸.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ah, so envious. I always dreamed of having a house with a good size courtyard like that. Anyway, I'm so happy you bring us to see the treasures. I was even more excited when you open the workbench drawers and see those screws. I keep saying "Aaaa.." every time you show those old stuff. Idk why, but it makes me happy. Thank you for giving your time and effort to deliver this video. Hope you can keep them coming, Oh, and remember to keep yourself healthy too. Greetings from Indonesia.
Kindred spirits for sure!
Benita, it was such a joy watching you lovingly sort and display your “treasures” from the workshop. Your content is very unique and oh so charming! Thank you so much. ❤
I’m so happy that you enjoy it!
Danke Benita, für deine Führung in eurem tollen Haus. Es steckt so viel Geschichte darin und Überraschungen. Sehr schön.
Danke! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Benita, you are definitely in your element. Now I'm curious what you will do with that old Swedish Sofa!
I am! It feels uite rotten to be honest but I'm hoping to salvage some parts to perhaps use as shelves. The back might be a headboard?
The RESPECT and CARE you and your family have demonstrated in the purchasing and refurbishment of this house is laudable. A woman after my own heart. Treasures INDEED ☺. Thanks for sharing your work!!! -V
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing your passion with everything that relates to this old house. It is a fascinating series.
So happy you’re enjoying it!
You are so appreciative and respectful of the house and all of its treasures! It takes a lot of love, care and patience to restore something like that! Looks like the house has found its perfect owners! The kitty paw prints are my favorite! 🥰🐾🐾🐾🥰
We do love the house so much!
So beautiful and fun! I hope I'm Swedish in my next lifetime! 🇸🇪
So glad you enjoyed it!
Tack för extraordinärt läckert innehåll!
Men tack snälla, vad gulligt!
So many treasures! That is lovely!
Yes, it really is!
Such wonderful treasures Benita! ❤
Thank you, they are!
What incredible finds and progress! The hooks and table are tied for my favorite pieces, but that little box by the chimney is such a delightful hidden treasure. The transformation by the electrical box is lovely and very impressive and gives me inspiration to maybe finally tackle some of the overgrowth around our house. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
Tack för att du delar! Så spännande att få följa med i renovering och inredning av sommarhuset.En riktig pärla ni har hittat.
Tack för att du hänger med!
I always suggest that you live in a home for a year before changing the landscaping. You never know what will pop up! Clearing and trimming all the trees and bushes is necessary not only for access but it helps the plants too. But you know that. What interesting things you've done uncovered. I'm sure you'll find something very interesting to do with those iron fence pieces. Maybe a base for flowering vines or tomatoes? Anyway, lots of work but very worthwhile.
Yes, I agree with that!
No need to go to the gym, you are getting a great workout at the summer house! Thanks for all the updates Benita. This is so nice to watch as it comes together with all its treasures ❤ 🏡 🔨
Haha, working out gets me into shape so I CAN do this!🤣
Amazing finds, wow is right!! All those tools and metal parts in the sunlight were just art in this video. So beautiful-- you can make anything so appealing. Thank you for these and all your videos. They are so well done and so calming.
I’m so happy you enjoy them!
What an amazing way to chronicle the history of your house! I am really drawn to those primitive peg strips! Congratulations, this will be a special place for your family 😊
It’s such a special place!
Lots of work but seems like that is your hobby and passion. So many stories hidden in an old house ❤ Thank for sharing with us 🥰
Such a passion project, this is!😊
Thanks for taking us with you on this amazing, adventurous discovery-tour, Benita! I watched this video with tears in my eyes because I felt deeply moved and touched. How blessed you are to see the beauty in all these items, plants, inscriptions and all the other traces of the past! They ARE REAL treasures and you understand and honor their very special, important value. How wonderful that you document, preserve, restore and implement all these things! Your house surely sighs up in relief that its history, its soul, its little secrets and the lives that were lived in it are not just „erased by renovation“ but respected and treasured so lovingly! Well done Benita, well done - I‘m impressed in each and every possible way 👍🥹👍 Love from Germany

@@BenitaLarssonI bet!
So many hand forged iron pieces in that drawer-- lovely!

LOVED this episode!
Yay, I’m so happy to hear that!
Looks like a whetstone - sharpening stone. And black currants. 😊 The house is so wonderful, as are your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, I think it might be! And also yes, they ripened black!
You have just uncovered the beginning of this ongoing excavation! So much fun to watch.
So glad you’re enjoying it!
Love this. 💗 We’ve found a range of items in the garden of our old Czech farmhouse, including neolithic pottery shards (as per archaeologist neighbor) & and a rusted bayonet. Gives me enormous perspective & keeps me humble about my moment on the land as I plow up the potatoes.
Those are such great finds!
This was one of my favorite videos of yours! Thank you for sharing the boys of history of your property. It was so interesting.
