  • Blood Coagulation, also known as clotting, is the process by which blood changes from a liquid to a gel, forming a blood clot by a process know as Hemostasis.
The mechanism of coagulation involves activation, adhesion and aggregation of platelets, as well as deposition and maturation of fibrin.
Coagulation of blood occurs through a series of reactions in three main stages:
    STAGE1: FORMATION OF PROTHROMBIN ACTIVATOR.
STAGE2: CONVERSION OF PROTHROMBIN INTO THROMBIN.
STAGE3: CONVERSION OF FIBRINOGEN INTO FIBRIN CLOT.
Due to the activation of group of substances, which are necessary for clotting are called clotting factors.
