I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live twice. A human encyclopaedia of jokes. Made me laugh till I cried. RIP Ken Dodd. You brought laughter and happiness to tens of thousands.
Oh Ken 💖 we were 'blessed with more than our share of happiness' when you were entertaining us! How everyone loved you Ken! Being a fellow scouser, I was lucky enough to meet you Christmas Eve night 1977, as I was leaving George Henry Lee's and you were trying to sneak in, unrecognised! As a young and lovely girl back then, I asked if I could give you a Christmas kiss and you said that was the best offer you had all day! God bless you Ken, you are God's jester in Heaven! Thanks for the magic laughter you generously gave us! Love you forever Ken mate 💋💖👏 xxx

“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams
This man embodies all that is great about Great Britain. Nowadays everything is amazing, fantastic and brilliant and TV personalities are national treasures. However there is no-one like Ken Dodd for sheer professionalism, longevity and wonderful spiritedness. As funny and kind a man at the stage door as on the stage. Go to one of his Happiness Shows for a 5 hour show and you will leave aching with laughter but on a wave of joy and love. His audiences adore him because they have grown up and old with him and because his show is an experience good for the soul.I have seen him a dozen times and know some of the jokes but we keep going back each year to Eastbourne because he is unique and we feel so uplifted afterwards. Thank you so much for putting this on.
You can see how much he was loved by everyone. It's still hard to accept that he's not here anymore 😔 Thank you for the Laughs, the Tears and Happiness Sir Ken 💖
The start of this TV show, shows just how much of a ''down to Earth'', and ''touchable'' Superstar this man was. When he started the walk down the stairs of the theatre to begin the programme, he stood and shook peoples hands, talked to them, kissed them, and held up the beginning of the programmes intro music, which ran over a few times. A proper Gent, and a Legend. No other star that I can remember on ''This is your life'' has got close to the audience to thank them and say hello, as they always appeared from back-stage. Anne was a lucky lady, and now, she's a Lady in the true sense. It's a shame that Ken finally married her during his last few hours on this Earth. Sir Ken Dodd will be greatly missed by many.
I couldn't have put it better myself Digger Dawg. I never met Sir Ken but always loved watching and listening to him over the years. A genuinely funny man who was a legend in every sense. RIP Sir Ken thank you so much for entertaining us xx
Saw him in Scarborough at the long lost Futurist theatre. It was the best, and longest show I can remember. I still remember oompah oompah stick it up your jumper, charcoal charcoal... steady on missus 🤣🤣🤣
Saw him last year. His show was wonderful. He is so funny. He loves making people laugh. His show was supposed to last 3 hours but the audience would`nt let him leave the stage. He carried on for another 90 minutes. Even outside he was chatting with his fans standing outside. It was a night to remember. Thanks Ken.
Ken Dodd is a gent, good comic etc!! Kept his feet in Liverpool and very loyal to his home town, not Jimmy Tarbuck etc!! He has done more for charities than any other entertainer!! He holds the world record for tell over 1,000 jikes in 1 hour that is some achviement
KEN DODD NEVER LEFT HES LIVERPOOL HOMETOWN OF KNOTTY ASH..unlike some entertainers ..doddy was a one off..a true nice man who i got to no quite well in hes later years rip my friend sir kenneth arthur dodd..xx i love you
Hey I am also from Belgium, and was born in Antwerp city....I always have the greatesd respect for people like Ken Dodd because they do the most important job in the world, they make people laugh and thats what we need in a world like this! The UK had a lot of great comedians....even Stan Laurel was born in Great Britain and he was the biggest of them all! Here in Belgium we dont have that much tallented comedians...The best we had was Gaston and Leo and Holland had Toon Hermans, André Van Duin...and thats it Hoeray for all the funny comedians, they will always be rememberd by the public
i cried within the first three minutes of this video - due to absolute look of sheer surprise, appreciation and happiness in kenn dodds face. what a modest and unassuming man, a true star. i love the guy, he deserves a knighthood no matter what!
Loved him. AS a kid grew up watching him on TV...just a unique and genuine character...you just couldnt not love him...just brilliant...authentic and I believe a gentle and kind soul. Being such a believable person...was his mark...a good good man xxxx

An outstanding showman and the quintessential professional in every sense. So glad he lived a clean life and wasn't caught up in that filth like the others.
I was so happy when I heard Ken Dodds "love is like a violin, in the Disney Live Action Remake of Cruella, he is know for his comedy, but he was a remarkable singer and was the third biggest selling artist in the UK in the 1960s quite am achievement by anyones standards
an absolute legend.. he did a gig at telecom buildings some 25 years ago, he came on at 950pm and went off at 230am, non stop comedy, they took a bloke out who could not breathe for laffing, doddy you are a national treasure and i cant wait see you at Victoria Hall in Hanley in 3 weeks.
Such a great man, such a great comedian .. such an AWFUL accountant. Just watching him shake hands as he came in reminds me of the story many theatres around the UK will tell - that no matter how long it had been since Doddy played that theatre he remembered EVERYONE'S name, childrens names, favourite colour, favourite joke .. he was a try master of music hall theatre and will be greatly missed. A legend and I am so proud to have seen him live.
I recently carried out some work at Kens home and his wife was lovely I only seen Ken once but he was exactly how I thought he would of been (a Legend) Morning Lads he said Morning Ken....eh How do you get a fat girl into bed?? Big difference between these comedians and current ones. These guys were LOVED 🥰 They weren’t condescending, patronising or sneering. They went for the laugh and not hand clapping of agreement.
Thank you so much for uploading this!! Saw him live about 10 years ago - incredible! One joke after another and not one swear word. Rang my wife at 10.30 pm as arranged for her to pick me up from the theatre and had to tell her that the show was only half way through. A legend in his own lifetime.

He must've shook the hands of every row as he walked towards the stage - on BOTH sides !. Today's 'entertainers' just dont have the same ethics !
An outstanding showman and the quintessential professional in every sense. So glad he lived a clean life and wasn't caught up in that filth like the others.
My Favourite Comedian of all time. Doddy was not of this world. 🙏🏽
You'd just switch Doddy on like a light and off he'd go. Brilliant one off entertainer !
Ken Dodd reflects the QUALITY of Comedians that walk the boards in those days. They were Comedians!!!!!!!!
Dodd is a great Welsh surname. The Dodd family definitely have the Welsh look and features. This has to be the best "This is your life" ever.
