When I see so called comedians on TV, and so called singers on TV, I thank the Lord for Ken Dodd, and U-tube that he can still be enjoyed today. Thanks for posting.
Ken Dodd is he last of the great music hall/variety performers from an era long gone. That's what accounts for the extraordinary range of his talents. Quite apart from his knockabout humor which was very English in style he was a considerable tenor and sang many a memorable ballad. I was a regular listener to his radio show in the early sixties. People like him are nothing less than an everlasting national treasure.
I used to listen to his BBC RADIO shows here in Ireland in early sixties with the regular catchphrases, like "wheres me shirt", "they can't touch you for it",etc. On one occasion, the show had an Irish flavour......This motorist pulls up to Ken and asked,"whats the quickest way to Kilkenny?".....Ken replied "just push him over a cliff!" Kilkenny is a small medieval city in South east Ireland, probably the smallest in Europe and has a fabulous castle open to the public. It was made a city by Royal charter hundredes of years ago
One of the funniest men in the world and what a great voice. Was so surprised last weekend my 8 year old nephew was staying with us, when we watched an audience with ken dodd and my nephew actually put down his IPAD and sat laughing his head off at Ken! Proof that good comedy is timeless :)
If you're a bit down in these strange times, play this clip and start your day with a smile, I still do,often, and it does me good- thanks Sir Ken, you are still with us
I was very privileged & fortunate to watch this truly gifted man perform in Bexhill around 30 years ago. Gig planned for 2 hours, but it was nearer 4 by the time Doddy finished his seminar. Beautiful memories, beautiful comedy, a beautiful man.
Not many comedians can make other comedians laugh - here's the greatest comedian OF ALL TIME - making everyone laugh....a very rare talent never to be heard again.
he is the brightest and greatest spark to happiness that i have ever had the privilege to have seen and to be quite honest there should be no dislike button
I first saw Ken perform live in Blackpool when I was 10. I saw him a couple of years ago in Plymouth and he had tears rolling down my legs all over again! I wrote him a letter thanking him for such a good show and I got a personal reply. An absolute legend.
Mr Ken Dodd how this year of 2020 during the Coronavirus Pandemic could we of done with your wit and humour! Even this video lightens mood all these years on from when this was first recorded. Thank You for the tickling laughter 😀
I'm always impressed with how good his vocal abilities are. He has terrific breath-control, great intonation ... can start a note bang on pitch at full voice, very well placed sound and a nice tone. A very underrated singer, in my view.
Magnificent sir Ken Dodd there will never be another great comedian who will ever make everyone happy and laugh again not like daddy sir Ken was and still is simply thee very Best comedian in the world and boy how much we all miss you sir Ken Dodd RIP now 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
What a genius. Talented beyond belief. If ever you are down watch this. Works for me every time. Doddy and Freddie Starr both have the same effect on me. Two brilliant Scousers.
Please put more and more of Ken on U Tube he's just the great, brilliant, fantastic, talented and a the only one left who really makes me laugh and cry. So if HRH is watching please give him a knighthood for the British public he's the top.what a man keep going Ken we are all behind you.and thank you
Absolutely brilliant! I saw Ken at the Liverpool Philharmonic a few years ago, within seconds of appearing on stage he had destroyed the audience into fits of laughter, and this continued for the next five hours. even at the age of 80 he is still performing 4 or 5 times a week, if you havent seen him already, you must GO!!
Stand-up, you cannot beat it when it's good, and goodness Ken was good at it. No stopping him, wind him up and off he goes And what nobody realises - well, perhaps they do - is what a very fine singing voice he has
I met ken again recently in Blackpool and he is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. His show was sidesplitting and the voice is as good as it ever was. His Knighthood is long over due
I love this so much, have played it over and over. My husband and I went to Ken's show at Eastbourne recently, we had never seen him 'live' before. I can't hear Ken's Cuando calienta el sol too many times, I'm totally addicted to it. Desperately hoping there will be another opportunity to go to another of his shows. What a lovely lovely so talented man.
Ken Dodd had a beautiful voice. Absolutely beautiful. It always seemed incidental to him, his comedy coming first. But to watch him in full flow of comedy, and then fot this beautiful voice to burst forth. Just heartbreakingly beautiful.
I saw Ken live in Liverpool a number of times many years ago. If you were in the 'last house' you had to make sure you had alternative traval plans as he finnished when he finnished which was normally at least an hour longer than was billed. I was usualy more concerned about breaking a rib from laughing so much than missing the last bus.
I seen Ken for the first time live at the Glasgow Pavillion 2 weeks ago it is and will be one of the most memorable and happiest memories of my life. It was amazing to see a real comedy legend of such calibre and energy perform to such a high quality. ONE OF THE HAPPIEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE..TOTAL HAPPINESS
I'm 67, and this guy had the audience "IN HIS HANDS" from when he first appeared on stage - period. This talent is now long gone, Bruce Forsyth, Des O'Connor and Les Dawson springs to mind for us "out of touch pensioners" as we're labelled. I'm a Bowie fan but bought records (vinyl) by Matt Munro, Dean Martin, even Telly Savallas (IF) which I still cherish today.
When Ken Dodd went on tour he packed them out and you could be guaranteed to see some of the biggest stars in the country in the audience. He was the one that made them all laugh. He was the entertainers entertainer. Pure genius!! ❤

Happiness was the song that I chose to play to say goodbye to my beautiful lovely gentle fun-loving Dad at the end of the church service - Ken Dodd has a most under-estimated singing voice of our best loved comedians, listen to "Tears" by Ken Dodd, a beautiful voice, as was Don Estelle, fantastic tones...all the best to the entrants on talent shows but they will never be remembered x
