Modern society has made people (especially women) forget that humans are are basically like animals too, with natural instincts that they are not always able to control, being males of females, when it comes to sexual natural instincts, turning violent etc. in certain situations. If you forget that kind of thing, you will say something like 'wear what you want' but you would be naive and putting yourself in needless danger that could have been easily avoided.

Fighting back is key, do the crazy, go bolistic, get over the top angry, turn into a demented animal and scare the crap out of your attacker. They expect an easy prey not a violent, loud and angry crazy person.

Santa Monica / Brentwood area has a very high population of crazy homeless people. I used to work there in the mid 2000s and had to call the cops on a weekly basis (at least) bc there would be some crazy person in the store. It’s only gotten worse since then

There almost seems more to this story, wondering if it was personal and not random. Obviously a super wealthy neighborhood, random, shirtless white dude who doesn't look strung out, running through the neighborhood like he's jogging. That father must be feeling 100 different emotions with a newborn, especially with it happening while he was right there, he was looking very vigilant. That parental protective instinct is powerful. So glad she was able to fend him off.
What a harrowing and unbelievable thing to go through at such a tender time. Those early days of taking a newborn out into the world are already cautious ones. She would still be healing from giving birth and walking is one way many new moms heal and strengthen. The sexual nature of the attack, as well, is especially disturbing. I hope to God she doesn't have a scar and have to look at the memory of that every day in the mirror for the rest of her life. As it is, she has to take care of these injuries alongside taking care of her baby, which should be a precious time of falling in love. I hope they catch that lowlife. CA is such a nightmare, there are no safe places anymore, and I've been sick of this state for years. Costs $20K to relocate to another state and it's too expensive to be able to save that kind of money.
In this day and age, the attacker doesn't have to know the victim. He's probably been watching her. He probably has mental issues. There are more and more unhinged people out there doing crazy, random things.

I had a lady ask to hold my baby and she would not give him back. She kept saying; "I can't have babies and you didn't deserve one." I had just had a C-section and called for my husband. He got our baby back, but I will never let a stranger hold any of my babies again. This lady got punched. It's very scary. You don't know what to do for a second. Glad she is ok and the baby is ok.
