Forgot to mention that you want to exchange Champion Gundyr’s Soul for the Prisoners Chain as soon as you fight him. Check the description for some Ring set-up recommendations, although this build doesn’t particularly rely on any of the rings too much. 3. The Great Club is also amazing for Friede as she’s weak to strike. If you didn’t want to grab the Demon Greataxe, you could farm Large Titanites from the Lothric Knight by the bonfire, grab the chunks and use that until the paired swords instead. 4. I’m really interested in what sort of difficulty you’d like to see in future DS3 runs (Early DLC/ Very Early DLC/ Base Game then DLC’s). To me, this felt like a good step up from the last video without being ridiculous, but I’m a nerd with too many hours in the game. No wrong answers, let me know your thoughts! 5. If there’s any DS3 builds or weapons you’d particularly like to see a guide for, let me know. Hope you enjoy the vid!
beat he game at SL21 +2 Cleric to get lightning arrow and bully everyone at low level invasions in the swamp. I did it and it was some of the most fun I've had playing any video game trying to figure out how to beat everything to get to it
OK. To me what makes your best guides is not the difficult runs or the glitchfests, but runs where you're having fun. A happy fishy makes for a great video. Also runs where you didn't know how good what you're using is. A pleasantly surprised fishy is a happy fishy and see above.
For the maggot monster things in Cathedral of the Deep: buy a torch. If you get grabbed by it, just whip out your torch, it will clear the maggots off of you, instead of bleed building up three times over. It's like 300 souls at the merchant in Firelink, absolutely a worthwhile investment if you're going to explore the Cathedral.
Thanks for this, those guys annoyed me. I should have tried something like that since I knew the monsters were weak to fire (as I am playing a pyromancer with a fire Zweihander).
@@paulocarvalho6480 No, the maggots stayed on me. The enemies died easily to the fire, but the annoying bleed maggots remained. Maybe I'm missing something, but there is no way to inflict fire damage on yourself to get rid of them, is there?
@@Jupiter__001_ Have a second weapon in your right hand and switch them twice. Or you can have a weapon and the torch. Even if you are two handing the sword, just switch to one hand. That way you automatically get the torch in the left hand. Do a test run and try these combinations, one of them should work.
Dark Souls III was actually the first Dark Souls game I played, and it's what tempted me to go into the Demons Souls remake on PS5 and the other great Souls games like Elden Ring! Still love it the most. Thank you for another great video, Thingfishy!

I’ve been there on my pyromancer for a while but never finished it. I’ve got Halflight, Midir and Gael left in them DLC and Soul of Cinder in the main game.
Good to see DS3 content! Recently decided to come back to ds3 after I bought both DLCs. I played the base game ages ago but only cared to finish the main story and nothing more. I ran through the entire game offline in a lothric armor set and using the Irithyl straight sword. I recently started getting into builds and online play and didn't realize how much fun I was missing out on. Now I want one more DLC and that will bring more players in. That's my dream 😔
Omg I love that you're doing a ds3 vid. Honestly Elden ring just didn't hit the same for me but I loved your guides all the same. But ds3 is my crack and your creation style is among my fave on UA-cam
If the goal is to get the Twin Ringed Knight Ultra’s as quickly as possible, it’s probably easier and faster to use +7 Sellsword Twinblades on Friede. Best weapon in the game imo and you don’t need to max them out. No Dancer early, No Oceiros, No Champ Gundyr, no Demon & no Abyss Watchers. You can fight those bosses later with the RK Twin Ultra’s which should be the goal…
Dang it you’ve done it again! Gone and made me want to give this game another try. I’ve really tried to enjoy it several times, but I eventually end up just thinking…why am I not just playing Elden Ring? It’s a curse I tell you.
Haha, you’ll love it once your through the start. Casually DS3 is a bit underwhelming until you’re into the mid-game. The mid-late games bosses are absolutely incredible. Thanks for watching, as always, DLC!
The Executioner's is definitely better overall, but if you haven't tried the Demon's, it pretty cool. If you do early Oceirus, you can get enough scales from the Untended Graves and an early run round Archdragon Peak for two +4 Titanite scale weapons if you want to have both set up by mid game. Let me know how you get on!
Just realised you're talking about the Greatsword and I'm talking about the Executioners Greataxe which doesn't exist in DS3 (Dragonslayer's) 😂. Love the Executioner's GS. Prime Gael build.
My brother - anyone that can parry that impeccably is unlikely to need a guide for an str build :) However, I did enjoy the guide and video. Most str weapons in this game are absolutely busted, the great club being the prime culprit among those. The bonks can pancake pretty much any enemy and make short work of almost all bosses too.
Haha, can’t help doing the nerdy stuff! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I was actually really tempted to carry on with the great club, especially for Friede. Such a cool weapon. Thanks for watching!
I just did my second playthrough of DS3, and I either saw the first part of this video around when I started, or I just happened to follow these weapons because I saw it somewhere else. Doesn't really matter because boy was it fun. I played through almost the entirety of the game with the Demon Greataxe, and when I got to Ringed City (first time playing either DLC and I had a blast) I switched once I got the paired greatswords. I had to grind a ton of levels for strength but it was absolutely worth it to fight and beat Gael for the first time with these swords. I gave up on Midir because I never really like dragon fights that much in these games, but I might give that a try on either the NG+ for that run or a new one. But holy moly fighting Gael was so much fun, I wish there was a boss rush mode (or bonfire ascetics) so I could replay just that fight without having to go through the entire game again first.
Technically you don't even need to fight Dancer, if u get just enough distance from the fog and enter rolling backward it will keep her AI inactive and you can just shoot arrows at her til death and get to that farm spot early.
