    I have two friends who each have some gen 3 Omni 7 green phos binos. These were the first NVGs I compared my J31s to back to back. I had a preconceived bias against the J31s and fully expected them to suck against the Omnis and most other tubes for that matter. To my surprise and that of my buddies, we all found ourselves liking the J31 image just a little bit better.

      I think they’re pretty close, at least the Omni 7 that I have access to. “Sample size of 1 “ but I have seen some pretty crispy OMNI 7s … video at least. O-7s have a better SNR So detail will be a touch better. I think it’s the color palette of J31s. That bright green does wear on the eye a little more.

      And highlight performance is much better. NNVT should be at 55 LP/mm in bright light conditions.
      Omni tubes can drop down to 35 LP/mm. Even the newest Omni tubes have terrible terrible high light performance. But it's one of the most important features in our world. Dynamic light situations are encountered more often than ultra low light situations like on mountains in Afghanistan. I don't understand why Omni tubes still have poor high light resolution

    I have to say that I appreciate that you still do content about NNVT tube. There are mixed reactions about the Chinese tubes, some says its good for the price and some says it's not worth it all but I believe it paved the way for more people to get into night vision world with relative cheap price and brand new.

      You’re literally speaking my thoughts, and these tubes have been around for a long time, I don’t know when they became commercially available but despite people’s opinion on them, they’re good for the market as a whole. Competition drives innovation. Look at what AGM has done with thermal. For under 400 you can now get a handheld thermal. … 1k a thermal scope.

      Also,… it’s what I have. Still trying to build content for the channel. I’d love to get my hands on a L3 supergain tube and gadgets but I don’t have access to that now hopefully some day.

      @@IowaNVGuy I believe you are on the right path. Your channel has been serving unbiased and genuine contents and this is what people need to see. Yes, there are definitely better American-made tubes but with China products entering the arena this should somehow drives other manufacturer to actually sells their product at a more competitive and reasonable price. Anyway, keep up the good work

      I really appreciate the content. I live in South Africa and a good NVT 7 is the best I can hope for. Not cheap by any means. $4900.00 for NVT 7 in a PVS-14 over here.

      @@bohemondi8348 I understand the pain. Getting intensifier tubes here in south east asia arent exactly cheap.For the same amount I paid for NNVT, it could get me a really good L3 white phos tube.

    They are definitely on par. NNVT puts a lot of research & development especially in NVT-4. Its the main tube for the infantry forces in China.
    I have NVT-4 tubes with 40k - 50k gain and they're definitely on par with Omni 7. But it's hard to find high SNR NVT-4s.
    Easier to find on Omni 7.
    But you don't limit yourself with those tubes. Thats the most important part. You can see the exact same thing with both of them. This makes Omni 7 & NVT-4 the best budget option at the moment in my opinion

      Agreed, right now they fit the build for what I “Need” and and most importantly what I can afford. But they got me back in the game. With the features that I was looking for.. with the caveat that they are sufficient in extreme low light. They do not excel,.. but I also have thermal to bridge the gap.

      @@IowaNVGuy what sucks is i cant find a consistant line on nnvt tubes for less than omni 7 at about 1250 at a moq of less then 5

    Man, I really appreciate the video, I think I’m sold on the Jerry’s just because I’m gonna be hiking more, and it looks like those are gonna be way easier to pick up contrast between branches and sticks and trees and stuff. The Omni seven is definitely way more clearer and better to look at.
    And since I’ll be buying the Omni seven duels from a private seller, I would be getting a better warranty with the website/company probably and they’ll hold value better then 1431 housing i think.
    I enjoyed that purple filter. I know it’s a lot different in person, so how dark was it on the first video? I think it was or maybe the second got really dark compared to the other two

    • @IowaNVGuy
      @IowaNVGuy  3 місяці тому

      Second location next to the river was vas very dark, and the timber was even darker yet! If there were leafs on the trees that would’ve been the most extreme low light you can get without actually black boxing them in a house with no windows, and no lights.

    I've been looking at the amber LLI filter for green nvg.

    • @IowaNVGuy
      @IowaNVGuy  3 місяці тому +3

      Honesty I didn’t even notice that I had the filter on until I got home from filming… had to go back out and reshoot all the locations… still same night… turned a 3?hour project into 5 lol…. But I thought the filter robbed the pvs14 of capability in extreme low light. IT DOES NOT. And it does tone down the scintillation.

    LOL, thats the Cedar river. I recognize that spot. I'm from Minneapolis but I visit the in laws in Iowa sometimes,. Next time I'm down there we should connect. I have a set of Vypers with 2600 FOM Photonis 4G tubes that will blow your mind. I also run two PVS14 Omni 7's which are high spec bridged on a pano that many like. Last night shoot up here we compared my photonis to a high spec L3 tube in very low light and only noticed a very small difference in detail out to 100 yards. Everything else was the same. Good to see you comparing NNVT to Omni's. People trash on anything that isnt what they owned due to purchase justification ego trips. NNVTs are very usable. Lots of guys run them in our night shoots. We had 40 guys last month hehe. So we compare all sorts of tubes and LAMs.

      I’ve used 2600 FOM elbit 14 before that’s as fancy as I’ve seen. I’d like to get my hands on some truly high spec stuff at some point. Even if only to review. But at the same time that’s what everyone has content on.
