You should check out some of Jack Wolf’s slip joints. If you like this Tactile knife, you’d enjoy the Jack Wolf’s. They also make sweet locking knives.
That rex smock was a great buy, congrats. I’ve been avoiding temptation and not buying any more knives for a while but I think that smock will be the one I regret not buying the most.
I LOVE slipjoints and this one is stellar! STILL wanting to get into jack wolf knives bad, but my funds aren't helpful with that. This might fall in that category....
I love JWK. Most of the JWK come in s90v with the exception of the steel series which has 14c28n and steel frame for $100 less than the titanium. 14c28n has really high toughness like magnacut but s90v boasts the best edge retention of the 3. I'd say definitely try JWK before you spend $50-150 more on this. The new Big Bro Jack has a steel series option that'll give you the same fit & finish of the rest with cheaper materials. The only issue people tend to have is the spine of the blade is a bit sharp but you can get used to it and it can aid with opening the knife,
Also they are made in China but you're supporting an American business owner. Ben Belkin Is a class act who is very in tune with his community and often deals with his customers directly. I had an issue with my first JWK rusting, probably my fault, he gave me his phone number and we spoke. He is a very stand up guy and a large part of the reason I keep buying from JWK. Not to mention the build quality on the knives is still fantastic.
I would guess the average skip joint enjoyer has a pocket organizer, like what Tale of Knives make. Oh, yeah, and it’s a nice looking knife, but the only slip joint that’s ever intrigued for me bigger money than a Swiss Army SD is the Advanced Knife Bro Stump Lifter cause he does damn good work.
I’m not sure why companies don’t make a slip with a clip 🤷♂️ I like the quiet carry but it sold out before I could get one. I’m not sure I’ve seen another on with a clip on the scale
@nachoisme Serge knives got them, but they sell out real fast. Spyderco has a couple, just not traditional looking. Heretic has one for like $1k lol. They are out there. Just hard to find. Urban EDC may have one
My biggest complaint of modern slipjoints is the lefty complaint. I understand the market for left handed knives is a fraction of right handed, so for frame/liner locks etc, I get stomach the lack of availability. But it seems crazy to me that makers take an inherently ambidextrous design and make it favour right handed people when they add a pocket clip or don’t include a double sided nail nick.
I always use the ball of my thumb to close a slipjoint! And that's the right☝🏼I think it a little to dangerous to use the index finger! You the only one i know that closes a slipjoint that way…fact it is rather cumbersome
I disagree completely. It's a pretty basic pocket knife and there are plenty of better knives to be had for the same price, but if it works for you, that's all that matters
@@RAID5_Aestheticnot answering for the other person but I am less willing to pay larger amounts for them because of opportunity cost not some objective value. I’d rather spend more money on fixed blades or locking folders. This one does look cool though 🤔
Also, that’s a nice knife. But if I’m going to get a slip joint I can’t afford the price of this one. I will get a many wasp in s90v. I could buy six of those for the price of one of these. Lol Also don’t like the accent on this one. Thanks for the review.
Slip joints are not a good first knife for kids. My first knife was an Uncle Henry. My kids’ first knives have all been liner locks or back locks because of that one scar on that one finger.
you actually arent closing the knife in the best way possible. for closing your left hand pinches the butt of the knife then your thum and pointer of your other hand pinch the pivot and you use that meat inbetween to close

There's a certain beauty and simplicity in slip joints. Not my preferred carry but love to collect them.
Go ahead and put together the playlist called I don't like slip joints but I like this one. Lol
Good review. I own one and like it now but had a hard time overcoming the price I paid for it. I'm glad I bought it.
12:05... "Why don't I just cut up hotdogs in the morning and pour milk over it and call that cereal?" 😂😂
best first knife=blunt tip fixed blade (got one for my 5yo. We just used it to carve a walking stick w/ a slingshot on top out of a sapling)

Kinda looks like an angry duck.
Now i can't un see it lol
@Shay-dn7cz I can't decide if it's the old mighty ducks logo or darkwing duck
@@kylemayer8486 mighty ducks superhero spin off cartoon lol 😆
I am not big into slip joints either but am interested in this and would love to see a review of the upcoming spyderco nand
Just ordered the Serge Slip4. It would be nice to hear your thoughts on that one.
Got the rex 45 smock and the pm3 lw released at midway usa. I grabbed those two for Christmas and my bday. 🙌 😎 love spydercos.

@lumntoob999 I love both. And some 15 v that didn't sell out on 10 mins?? I'm in. I don't have a pm3 anyway. I love My pm2

Oh damn. Nevermind 😢
I’m AMAZED you don’t have an Archer review(that I can find). It seems like an ideal complex knife
My only modern slipjoint is a JE made New York... it has the same vibe...
I drop it in the pocket almost everyday as a second blade
My only slip joint is a MBK Iron Horse and I love it!!
How's "the walk and talk"" feel?
How would you compare this to a jack wolf. I've been eyeing those

the SLANDER on back pocket carrying is wild bro
Lots of people like slip joints. They just need clips. Check out Serge knives for slips with clips!! Queit Carry got one as well

The buck 110 is a slip joint and one of the best kives you can get for the money

Love simplicity. This needs a tanto tho
Hey Mickey -Get yourself a slip. Accessorize my friend.
Unless it’s a custom, 350$ for a slipjoint is a hard nope from me dawg. I could see the appeal though
Should a slip joint be cheaper than a non slip jointed knife?
@@RAID5_Aestheticnot answering for the other person but I am less willing to pay larger amounts for them because of opportunity cost not some objective value. I’d rather spend more money on fixed blades or locking folders. This one does look cool though 🤔
They do assemble each one and adjust the blade to make sure there is a seamless transition from spring to blade, but I hear ya
Is that a slipjoint in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
I do like a strong stop. And I do not want a blade anywhere near a blowie. That’s just me though.
