That was weirdly gripping. I especially like how the eyes on Scooty were done.
Also the fact that he just kept throwing the food on the ground rather than eating it. Superb work.
It reminded me of kids pretending to eat fake plastic fruit while playing. But here, it was brilliantly inverted (plastic kid pretending to eat real food). :-))
The eyes actually gave it a human look which not a lot of big companies dan do
@@tlamiczka interesting analogy, but I see it.
@@Jayant5k I agree, much of the emotion was from its eyes and eyebrows.
It's really insane!
An 18 minute short with an entirely 3D character. Are you kidding me? Amazing.
eyy didn't expect you here
@@DECODEDVFX I didn't see you coming
I love how character development happened in under 18 minutes it looks so bizarre but funny and I enjoyed it.
Great short, you guys should seriously consider making a full length movie.
ok
it took peter 3 years to just make this
Yep, it's Short Circuit !
@@goldwasp7222 he didnt JUST make this.
@@yaoi.hentai still how do you expect him to make a full length movie if this 20 minute short took 3 years to come out
14:07 - 14:10 is genuinely one of the prettiest shots I've seen outside of a Wes Anderson movie. Dressing him in all red was such a good move, and the score cutting out as it hits the slow-mo really drives the action in this whole scene. You get that frantic build as he's forming a plan, then it's do-or-die time and the music holds just as the audience holds their breath, in anticipation of the success or failure of the jump.
You know, I think the thing I'm most impressed by, is not actually the visuals, but something that wasn't touched on in the video on Corridor Crew at all, the music score! It's phenominal for a piece like this. I can only assume it was done using digital VST's, but it sounds as if it could've been a live recorded orchestra! And the quality of the music itself, Mr Squires is a very talented composer!
this is so incredibly kind, thank you! the soundtrack is online on all the usual streaming platforms to check out :)
@@BenjaminSquiresMusic I agree with Rhodri... great music Ben! Epic.
The music was Marvelous.
@@BenjaminSquiresMusic what libraries do you use, sounds fantastic
had a real Ratchet and Clank vibe to it. (huge compliment)
I ended up emotionally attached to Scooty 5 minutes in and I tell you when he faked dying I was about to lose it.
The quality of this short is absolutely insane, and having known how it was made... Peter deserves a medal.
Happy someone thought short circuit
Han Solo DIES?!
spoileeer alarm XD
Spoiler alert
@@christiangrafe8048 watch the goddam movie first??
I love it when someone actually makes something with all of their talent, its usually a couple of seconds then a half hour tutorial but Peter has put it all together in an amazing short film. Great great work Ian Hubert and Peter are the kings.
*Wait a minute I thought Scooty was a movie so you're telling me it took him 3 years to make this incredible short? That's dedication. Respect.* 💯💯

The CGI for Scooty is so freaking good
This guy...
How does Peter keep surprising me every time....
Bravo!
It's Peter that's how....
@@musicboybenn guy is a freakin prodigy yo
Bro, that was better than most Hollywood movies.
I watched the corridor breakdown first and I have to say… I didn’t even notice the box effects you guys talked about, despite knowing they were a little janky. They just flowed and I was immersed. Great job to everyone who worked on it!
Peter my dude, you've GOT to enter this into a film festival, it's SO GOOD!
Who needs a film festival, UA-cam matters way more. He has the best audience here
@@FreshSqueezedLightning but a film festival is where you can get funding
@@FreshSqueezedLightning Not really, a film festival could get you the eyes of the people on top
@@klipnity I understand where you’re coming from, I just generally think film festivals are a waste of time. If he entered this into a prestigious one, he could potentially get funding, yes. I’ve known many people who get so caught up on little pointless festivals that they don’t work on making new material, they just cling to it and never go anywhere. That’s 90% of people from my experience over the last 15 years, it can get attention from people, and on a smaller channel that might be helpful. But Corridor is one of the biggest channels so his platform and cast net is already massive. I’m super proud of his accomplishments over the years that just keep escalating and escalating with his talent
Festivals tend to prefer or mandate premiering rights. Since this has already been posted here, the decision's already been made by Peter to not festival-chase. Not to imply there are no venues/events who'd put this in their program now, just to indicate that Peter must have already conciously chosen Corridor YT as the primary platform for this shortener the festival circuit.
This short is award worthy for sure . Congrats Peter🌟👍
Ohh no a bot
My mind is officially blown Peter, this was so worth the effort you put into this. Thanks for sharing this with the world 🙏🏾
Usually short films never manage to pull me in. They move too fast and characters can't really develop. But scooty is so well designed and written, it feels like i've watched a full movie. This is truly a labor of love. I love this on every level
I really don’t comment much on UA-cam but the fact that this is even possible is just the most freaking inspiring thing ever. Props to Peter for doing this whole thing and putting it up here to watch for free. I cannot tell you how just crazily mind blowing this entire thing is. The pacing, sound design, scoring, cinematography, and holy crap the visuals are INSANE. Once again this thing is a HUGE inspiration, great job to all the people who worked on the short.
Now if only the story was actually captivating.
@@sdrawkcab190 Well it is a damn sight better than anything I think i could throw together.
I know Peter has been working on this for awhile and I'm so happy to finally see this masterpiece, Thank you corridor for letting him make it here!
thank the corridor!
this is insane, loved every second, so much emotion displayed in under 20 minutes!
Yes.
I think that more than anything the thing that really sold this for me was the music. That music is utterly incredible and so cinematic that it would not feel out of place in an actual blockbuster production.

A story of Friendship, Betrayal and Heists and Redemption. Truly a story of greatness!
And brunch ;)
Peter, I hope you're getting paid for what you're worth.
This is probably the single best looking vfx film that Corridor Digital has ever put out and Peter did it entirely by himself.
What about foot loose tho?
I do agree that this is spectacular but I still believe the bosstown dynamics videos are the best of corridor
The design of this cg robot is impeccable. It feels like a human, it fits in every shot, it’s the star, it looks like it’s made out of a scooter, the voice is perfect.
The fact that he did this shot for shot pretty much by himself is amazing, nice work!
I love Peter's work. This looks amazing!!! and unbelievable that it is made in the FREE software blender.
Most of the best softwares in the world is free.
And the not so free software after effects
A lot of stuff they used was not free

This is a masterpiece in every aspect possible! The lighting, sound effects, visual effects, storytelling, composing, and everything else is just AMAZING! You guys rock!
this is far better than an average marvel movie, not just the cgi but the story too
The lighting effect at the start was soooo satisfying, not to mention when he formed together within it
So many insane shots. The consistency required to make Scooty fit in for the whole shortfilm just blows my mind. It never distracts.
Peter France, from a intern to a director, what a journey.
Can't wait for this to become a Corridor CLASSIC
This is a showcase of pure talent, showing how can one person create visuals this good without any expensive budget like movies today. This is greatly done Peter!
It's not talent, it's skill. This is something you learn through hard work, and attributing it all to dumb luck is totally underselling it
@@solared I completely understand that its a skill too but to know how to do nuts and bolts in VFX can only take you so far. To have a clear vision on aesthetics and to materialize something amazing that came from your creativity is TALENT, not just skill.
No matter how much I study about writing, I will never be as good as Stephen King because it took talent to be that good.
@@frozenlicks I used to be a terrible artist, i struggled with stick figures. now I'm fine. Talent is not something that your born with, your baseline of motivation is. Not even king came out the womb writing novels, he came out of the womb determined, and so did Peter.
@@solared talent is being naturally good at something and there is a distinction between natural talent with skill vs skill that has been learned. One of the biggest factors that showcases this is the vision of aesthetic and use of different angles and cinematography to emphasis the creators skills with VFX and visuals. In this case I agree that this is talent because anyone can learn how to do this but not everyone will get to this level no matter how much hard work and dedication. People are naturally talented at other things than most people. I’m not saying however the creator didn’t work to get to this level but there is some degree of natural talent in their work
@@frozenlicks Naah bro. If you look at his previous work, you'll notice that looks a little janky and the colors are a bit off. Seeing his current work, it's evident it took hella sweat and dedication to hone his "Skill".
That my friend, is persistence and sheer fucking will. Talent can give one an edge over others, but it can't drive you that far.
And 3 years surely is a far stretch to hang on to something.
no hate buddy. I just think calling it talent is totally undermining his effort :)
I love how he just saw a robot form right in front of him but he only cares that its made of scooters
This feeling like a big budget movie, awesome job Peter so inspiring
I legit think this could be turned into a full length movie.

This is basically what I would expect from a triple A film. Literally flawless, and it’s such a great story too!
Peter is one of the best vfx artists alive. This film is gorgeous.
Short films often mess with your emotions and can be brutally sad. This teased it in a way that I loved. Amazing short film!
i can’t imagine a movie about scooters could make me this emotional
Peter is extremely talented. Really good script too. I love scooty!

when the directors, photographers and producers come before the cast in the end credits of a movie, you know that's gotta be a good movie.
Everything about the sound design in this film is PHENOMENAL. Major motion picture studios need to take notes.
The use of the leds and the brake pad eye brows really added to the emotion of scooty! what a brilliant and lovable story :)
Awesome, really
It's not a groundbreaking story, but every little detail is so well executed! The aesthetics are just so nice and the effects, how can someone even do that by himself? (Three years of work, I guess, and everything that came before that)
Like, what? a fully CG character!? That's such a high effort, and it is really movie level VFX
It's also incredible that out of such a simple concept you could get so many emotions, and be so fun to watch, and still manage to present something like that in a free platform. This work is actually very inspiring man
Inspiring is the perfect word. This is going to convince so many people that they can do it too.
Peter and his team are not humans... This production is out of this world!

The quality of these shots and VFX is just insane 💪

I love this! Absolutely feels like Peter's style too! I'm so impressed that he built a full CG character out of scooter parts! It's wild that a character like that can be basically entirely generated at home. CGI has come so incredibly far and it's so exciting!
The “What am I jake?” from scooty hit on a different level 🥲

Shortest 18 minutes I've experienced, lol. It's really well made.

This. Is. AMAZING. It has so much character and such a tight plot! Reminds me so much of Short Circuit with how animated and emotion-packed Scooty is, but so much uniqueness!
Good that this channel does not seem to be hacked!
Scooty shoving food onto his face whilst consuming none of it was fantastic
Amazing how you made such an expressive face with such simple elements, and in general Scooty looks so incredibly grounded and realistic! Bravo Peter, your talents and determination never cease to amaze.
Wow, just wow. Another amazing creation by Peter that is just unbelievably well done. Amazing props to everyone who worked on this project.
I watched this on the Corridor Digital website but it's still been in my recommended feed every day.
Figured I'd come through to leave a like and a comment here as well, because it's just that good. Scooty deserves it.
This was so amazing but a thing that I noticed was that scooty didn't have eyebrows from that one scene where he is first seen. A very brief scene and is nothing compared to the amour of work and detailing that this has. Peter is truly gift, a prodigy even.
I watched mostly to hear how this sounded compared to the usual Corridor feature and this really stands out. Great job Cody and Peter and of course the sound mixing team. No complaints from me and really enjoyed every bit of it. Also great job on Scooty's voice, it's hard to make a robot's voice sound interesting, have variance that's interesting, and is still perfectly intelligible.
Oh man that was soooo good. I love the way Scooty's eyes twinkle when he talks. It brings so much life into the character. I love the funny part with Scooty not actually eating the food. that made me laugh. Overall, the best short film I've ever seen.
WOW! Great VFX! Isabel Mazzolini, phenomenal job as DP!!!
Holy cow! This is amazing, Peter! Definitely deserves the attention it's getting and more! #10 on trending right now, and I hope it gets higher because more people need to see this. Well done, man. Well done.

This was so fun to watch! Not only was I fully believing everything I was seeing becauseof how great the cgi was, but the story was really amazing too! I ended up loving scooty and caring about them. I want to see more adventures!
Considering it took over 2 years to make I unfortunately don't think that it's going to happen.

So glad I caught one of these master pieces fresh out the oven!!
This short felt like I watched a movie it was paced so well and each scene felt needed and some of the coolest effects I've seen
after watching the digital review on this, the server box interaction wasn't even the hardest part. When you go frame by frame its easy to point out every single issue with something but start to finish this is a very mindblowing masterpiece
I love the fact that Scooty smashes food into his face and throws it away like he ate it.its just so funny
This is actually incredible, cant imagine how hard peter has worked for this result!
Awesome job guys! Every frame looks like it has something going on.
It’s actually just one guy; Peter France.
Scooty is the key to all of this, if we get Scooty working, because he's a funnier character than we've ever had before
