Hi Jay. Thank you for the videos. It helps future auxiliares. Do you know anything about the Andalucia experience?
Hi Regina! Im glad the video brought value to you. I took the liberty of finding this fb group link: facebook.com/groups/824891444303329/?ref=share I would suggest joining that group and reading through all the posts and possibly even connecting with a few of the current auxiliares to feel out their experiences in Andalucia. I hope that link helps! Best of luck.
@@Jaycation Gracias! I am writing from Panama. I am an American citizen and retired from the US Navy. Miss my Fillipinos shipmates.. If you ever make it to Panama,, shout. Hasta pronto
I'm glad you got to be a English teacher for 2 years! I bet you an attentive and enthuiastc one. What an experience to live and work in Barcelona.I have seen a few videos of yours from there.
Hi Jaycation loved it! We're always so proud of you! You're the best! Keep vlogging and here's to 10k subscribers soon!
Gracias mi madre
Yay this was so helpful! I’m thinking of applying because of you! What an awesome experience !
I can't wait for you to experience this! It will be like living my experience again through your eyes!
From Ayn's video to yours yay hope I can apply for this work. Thanks for the video! 🙂🤗
Awesome! I hope u can experience this the way i did. Such a great time!
aww, congrats being an English teacher, western style! what a talent, pinoys in abroad are very talented and educated. way to go, jay! proud of ya
Salamat! It was a fun two years teaching English. I learned a lot as well from the students. I hope others get a chance to experience it!
Oh my gosh! Is that a king's hand pin? Great content, Sir! Thank you for the info.
It is a King's hand pin Bev! Great eye! I still have it but the pin holder broke so its not on my backpack anymore and just on display in my room. I need a new one! haha
Hello Jeremiah, you've got a very nice experience, thanks for this video, I'm planning to apply as an Auxiliaries de Conversación, currently living her in Tenerife.
Salamat! I hear Tenerife is beautiful. Best of luck! What part of spain are you planning to request doing the program?
This video has inspired me to become an auxie in the near future 😊
Best of luck! You can do it. The Aux program for me was life changing giving me the chance to live in Barcelona for two years. Also learned alot about communication with the students.
@@Jaycation Thanks Jay! More power to your channel! Keep uploading vids :)
Looks like people there are welcoming and friendly.
All the teachers and coordinators i worked with were very welcoming and friendly.
So cool.😊
It was an amazing experience!
Ur vidz is very helpful ,im also interested to try to be an assistant teacher ....by the way ur skate is amazing ,i do surf skating but not electric though :D
Great video. Im planning on applying to be an assistant next year! I'm a little nervous about the application process as it seems a little stressful. Could you do a step-by-step video on the process of becoming an assistant?
Thanks for watching Noah! Best of luck with the application process... Just follow the check list on the website and you'll make it through the process. My friend Rio and I did a radio show on the process... here is the link! Hope it helps! facebook.com/RadyoFilam/videos/914956018843288/
Tim Hortons!!! Barcelona! When did this happen , I was in Barcelona this summer, never saw one. 🤔 I really enjoyed San Cugat, cute little city. Can we teach French as well?
Hi Nancy! The Tim Horton's has been there since fall of 2018. Its just kind of hidden between plaza catalunya and universitat. I even saw one in Madrid a few weeks ago! I loved Sant Cugat. You can definitely teach french! I had a couple of French language assistants in my friends group.
Your auxiliares exp sounds awesome! :) Pretty cool w/that electric skater too! haha Does auxiliares program allow teachers to work part time on other physical schools or at least online?
Thanks Stacey! It was such a great experience that I came back for a 2nd year and actually ALMOST a 3rd. That electric Skateboard was a lifesaver and timesaver for me! The auxilares program definitely lets you do other things on the side... u can work online and a lot of auxiliares offered private lessons and made up to 20 euro an hour for each session. Pretty good deal! Do you plan on applying for the Aux program in Jan?
Travel paintings come back, like your theme, and your energy, we work hard together
WORK HARD!
Proud of you bro. Are there a lot of Filipino English teachers in and around BCN? 😊
Thanks Manuel! Other than myself and my friend Rio who is also Filipina, i didnt see any more Filipino English Teachers around! Who knows maybe i didnt see them. Are you a teacher?
Hi Jay, great and very helpful video. I'm applying to be an assistant for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year and I was wondering if you think it's a big deal if I don't have past teaching experience? Also I've had several jobs in the past but I don't know if I should even include them in the 'experiencia no docente' section. Did you include alot? I'm slightly nervous about applying and any insight would be very helpful. Thanks :)
Hi Taylor! I had no teaching experience either when i had applied and just listed my past jobs. My letter of Rec was a glowing recommendation from my boss which i think made me an automatic to get in. They really are just looking to see if you are proficient and dependable to start and finish the program so as long as you can show that in your application, i believe you'll get accepted! BEST OF LUCK! Let me know how it goes!
Great video, I am applying for the program this year and I found it very helpful! I studied aboard in Barcelona this past summer and loved it, so I really want to go back. Would you say most of the Catalonia region placements are in/around Barcelona? I am applying as soon as the portal opens. I just want to know what my chances are of being able to live there. If you know that would be very helpful. I just do not really want to end up in a small village because my Spanish is not the best. Thank you!!!
Thanks Julia! Barcelona is just amazing isn't it? I will be back in March and can't wait! So my advice to you would be to definitely apply right when the portal opens. Get your documents all ready to go and you should be good. When I applied for Catalonia, I made the mistake of thinking the portal was going to open pacific time and not spain time. I ended up submitting 9 hours late but still got places just in the outskirts of Barcelona. I firmly believe that its first come first served so if you get in, you'll get a placement in the city. Renewal is a different story, i renewed twice and each time i was place a bit further out each year. I feel u on not wanting to be in a small village or town, it would have been a shame not to live in the city! Best of luck and let me know how it goes. I'm here to help if you have more questions as well! :)
Jaycation hey I wanted to write back and say I accepted a position in Zamora Spain! Have you been there?
Whats up Jay , great clips! Would you consider moving back to bcn or prefer the states? Also being from the states, I find it overrated...
Hi! If the pandemic never hit i wouldve been spending half my time in BCN! My dream is 45% san diego 45% barcelona and 10% traveling the world someday!
Thank you for this video! I'm from the Philippines and is planning to apply with my bestfriend for the 2021 slot! May you please give the link where to see instructions for Filipinos? Thank you! 👏😁
best of luck!www.educacionyfp.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html I applied from the US as I'm a US Citizen, hopefully this can be done for Filipinos!
Hi, Jay! Just discovered you today, and I think I will stay here for a long time, haha. Keep on doing what you do! Anyway, I heard that some or most auxiliares experience delays in receiving their stipends. I read that some had to wait for as long as 3 months before getting paid! Que horror! This is my biggest concern with this program because I can't possibly imagine dipping into my savings just to survive. Did you ever experience this kind of delay? Salamat!
HI! Thanks for watching and discovering my channel. In my 2 years as an Aux i did experience a delay in stipends especially when there were protests happening. The longest i waited was 2 months. That's why i always suggest to people to have a savings account with money saved up for emergencies.
Hey jaynation, I selected the region Murcia... and I'll be there in October, tbh I'm little nervous bcse I don't have any teaching experience, I'm gonna teach the students of secondary school. Can u give me some tips? That would be great lol.
Amazing Aman! You will have a great time. My tips would be to get to know your coordinator and build a good relationship with them and the teachers you will work with. It's not so nerving since a teacher has to be with you at all times. Just speak to the kids and help them with their english. Once they trust you and feel comfortable, it will be enjoyable for everyone.
You are not going to beieve this, but years ago I had a roomate and we had taco Thuesdays and beer too. Exept this was in Tampa Fl and we would get the tacos to go and the beer from 7eleven. Salud amigo.
Taco Tuesdays is an international things! haha Tacos to go and a 7/11 beer sounds like a great night! Loved clearwater near tampa when i visited. Whats your favorite taco? lol
@@Jaycation LOL.. believe it or not is the bean taco...with extra firy sauce. That was in 1994, and one of the first things I do when I go to the US Is grab a bea taco. I lve in Panama now and planning a 2 to 3 years stay in Europe. Particularly Andaluca.. Thank you for your videos, they are helping a lot with my plans.
Hi. It is so nice bumping on your video. I wonder if you will apply though an agency or direct or is it government to government application? Thank you so much
Hi! Thanks for dropping by. I applied on the spanish ministry of education website which was directly handled by the spanish government. It was an amazing experience!
@@Jaycation Thanks. Good luck to me. Would love to try it too. :)
Thanks for the video, got a question tho, im from Morocco and for my English Studies BA degree i needed only 3 years to get it, so will that makes me not fit to apply as an English teacher in Spain ? And if that the case, is there any possibility i can convert my Moroccan BA to a Spanish one ? Or maybe i can study one more year there or what's the deal ? Thanks for ur video again, i really want to check my chances conciderating moving there in the future.
I wish i knew the rules about Morocco and Spain for this program. U are very well educated, I believe you can find a way to land a job in Barcelona. Its just that the rules are different for each country. I would suggest getting a hold of someone in the Ministry of Education in Spain and ask them. I wish you the best of luck!
@@Jaycation thank youu
Awesome man! Just wanted to ask if there is a limit in being an auxiliares?
I heard there is a 5 year rule but not sure about that! I was on my way to a third year until i decided to go another direction. Are you applying?
I really want to. I heard nothing but good things about being an auxiliar. Could be an experience of a lifetime. Thanks for the info man
Hello! How many academic years were you able to be an auxiliar? Are you allowed to stay in Spain until the start of the class if you decided to renew? Thanks.
I was an auxiliar for 2 years. I got accepted for a third but decided not to return. I know people that have renewed and stayed, they just had to go through the renewal process as fast as possible once you get renewed. I know a few people who have done the program for 5 years. Not sure how much longer you can go past that.
Jaycation What visa did you apply for when you did the Auxiliares? And is it difficult and expensive to get the visa?
Hi there! I am currently checking out the program. The fees are compulsory right? Thanks!
Hi Ejeanne, That's great that you are looking into the program. Which fees are you referring to? I just paid fees for my visa process. There are no fees to apply.
Hi sir! Neither po jasi na may US visa ako or graduate in partner schools..
Kamusta! Taga US ako so i applied as a US Citizen. I just needed a good recommendation letter. I would check with the Philippine Embassy to see anong requirements. Hindi ako nakilila ng filipino teacher but baka meron kasi marameng pinoy sa barcelona! Good Luck!
what skateboard are u using?
Hi Sir Jeremiah,
Good day!
How to apply and where to apply specifically for that program that you are discussing? I'm really interested.
Currently Im here at the philippines.
This is my background
1. Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
2.Master in Business Administration
3.Working for 7 years
4. I Have experience in teaching in college
Would like to ask if this program is holding working visa?
Thanks
Hi Mark- For me as an american, i was issued a student visa for 9 months at a time. I'm not sure how it is with a Philippine passport. You'll have to look into it through the spanish ministry website. I believe its linked in the description. Best of luck!
I'm planning to do this program. Did you apply in PH or outside the country? Just wondering coz I'm currently living abroad. 🙃
Hi Sayk! I applied from San Diego here in the US. Took alot of planning and paperwork but definitely made it happen. With so many filipinos in Barcelona, its definitely a possibility to move there!
Hi, I’d like to know where to apply for this program? Can you provide the link?
www.mecd.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html Best of luck!
@@Jaycation This is only for US/ CANADIAN guys...
Being an Indian, am I eligible to apply..?
Do they hire non native speakers? I would love to teach in Spain but I’m a non eu nor am I from an English speaking country
They might... you can look into it at the spanish ministry of education website for details. I think its linked in the description box. best of luck!
how difficult/stressful was the actual job? I don't have any teaching experience and am a bit on the reserved / quiet side but am interested in the program
In my opinion it really wasnt that difficult. It really all about conversing with the students in english and helping them improve on their grammar. The more they hear you speak, the more they learn. I'm talk alot so students heard alot from me. You can be reserved and quiet but when in class, you definitely have to speak alot. It only benefits the students. I really wasn't stressed. It really depends on your coordinators and teachers. I was lucky to have supportive teachers with me and it made the job fun and enjoyable. The only thing i didnt like was the long commute! But thats the price i paid to live in the city.
@@Jaycation Awesome, thanks for the reply. What level of Spanish proficiency did you need for the job?
Hello, is it true thta aux program gives two-year contract instead of three? How else can I stay for more years in Spain? Do you have other options in mind? Thanks
speaking from my experience i only got one-year contracts at a time with the ability to renew in the spring. you can look into language schools or being sponsored by a company which could possibly keep you there longer. Good luck!
Jaycation thanks
How did you like the Valencia region??
LOVED VALENCIA! Honestly would have Valencia second on my list if i didnt teach in Barcelona!
How much is the average/typical rent in Barcelona or Madrid for one room?
anywhere from 250-500 depending on the area. I paid 300 a month and was pretty much 10 minutes walking from the center.
Random question: how old where you when you did this? And how old where most of the people you met that were also doing this?😊
Alot of Auxiliares were in their mid to late 20s. Mostly people already graduated from College wanting to live in Spain.
Jaycation thank you for answering... I have wanted to do this but I have not gone for it yet. I am a teacher and I felt I was getting “old” for these types of opportunities but now I ser that I am within the age range😮
im in 30s already... am still qualified?.. 😐😀
Hey man... I hope you reply!
I'm from India and about to be a graduate ( B.A in English literature) yet it's been delayed due to Covid 19 situation. Can I apply for this program as well? P.S. - I checked out the application guidelines and I don't think I can apply.
Hi Musharraf- i hope all is well. I dont really know much about the visa process for India as well. Im sure there are other ways you can become a teacher in spain. Have you looked into language schools there? Best of luck!
@@Jaycation What are the other ways through which I can become the teacher..?
Hi! Do you still work with them or do they have limited years? Thanks
Hi Rei, I worked two years in the program and got accepted for a third. I decided to turn down a third year as the school i was assigned to was too far from where i lived in Barcelona. They don't have a set limit in years i believe. I know people that did the program for 6 years!
Jaycation wow! Thanksa lot for this respond. You’ve been very helpful.
What visa did u get when doing this program? How long did you get to work?
The spanish government granted a student visa up until may 31 when the program ends. After that the US Passport becomes a 90 day tourist visa if you decide to stay longer and travel
@@Jaycation Thanks, I got an Australian passport can I still apply to this program? Or is for North Americans only.
Im sure you can! I met french, UK, Canadian assistants in the program. I dont see why Australia would be any different
Can we renew the visa if your contract is over? If yes, do we have to find a new destination, school, place?
How can I apply for English teaching in Spain?
Apply through the spanish ministry of education website. Its in the description box. Good luck!
Is Barcelona better than Madrid?
Hello are you eligible for permanent residence after x amount of years? I'm interested
Hi! I heard there are ways to become permanent residence which would entail renewing for the program and living in the same place for 4 years i believe. I haven't done it myself but do know people that have and got permanent residency. Hope that helps! Best of luck.
How to apply abroad sir?
U have to apply through the spanish government www.educacionyfp.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html
How long was your Visa approved for? I heard that some get approved only for the few months during the program and others get approved for a full year
Hi Breanna, In my experience i was approved up to May 31st where then my student visa became a tourist visa which allowed me to stay 90 more days as a tourist. Working as an Auxiliares de Conversacion they processed me as a student visa and not a working visa. Still don't quite understand why but they do it for all Auxiliares. Are you planning to do the program?
@@Jaycation yes, I'm hoping to. I'll graduate with a teaching degree in May and hope to go next year. I was just concerned about having to go back to the US to reapply for a visa if I choose to keep doing the program in the future.
How long is your contract sir?
Contracts were from October to the end of May. Just about 8 months.
@@Jaycation thanks. Additional question, is it renewable?
1,000 euros? is that enough for living expenses?
depends on your way of life and how its spent! I had a savings account and other side jobs to make more money but for 16 hours a week and a less hectic schedule. 1000 euros isnt bad at all
Sir pa help po...i want to apply abroad english teacher po after my college po....may i know sir the FB account of the woman sir i want to apply teacher after i graduated sir💕
The job is through the spanish government. Not sure how it is for philippine citizens. I applied through the US program via this link www.educacionyfp.gob.es/eeuu/convocatorias-programas/convocatorias-eeuu/auxiliares-conversacion-eeuu.html good luck!
@@Jaycation thank you so much sir💕
😂😂😂
why are you crying?
Is it possible to live off 700 euros a month?!
For working only 12 hours a week, i made it work. I would work with coordinators to schedule me to work only 2-3 times a week which would clear up weekends for travel. As for the 700... 300 went to rent, the other 400 was for everything else. I also saved up some money beforehand and offering private lessons for 15-20 euro an hour to students, teachers and people around your city can earn u some extra money if youre willing to do them. Are you looking into the program?
Okay great! Yes, very interested. I wish I had known about it earlier this year or I would have applied for this fall. I’ll definitely be applying for the 2021-2022 school year though!
Thats awesome! Good luck! Do you have any cities in spain you’re hoping to live in?
