Many times in real life there are people, or... ( better said) people has behaviours and you dont know how to stand then anymore, but they are humans beings after all, and I noticed that often something very rich and deep comes from the experience of treat them, even if in the right moment was a big annoyance! I love the complexity ♥
See its funny too. Walter could have grown a back bone without turning into a garbage human by the end too but sadly his hunger for power and money took over along with his ego. Didn't think of how his son or wife would feel about it and he also didn't tell them he had cancer right off either. So he was already a selfish man. Love hearing discussions of characters! Edit: I also love villains who are believable as villians. It seems more realistic in Walter's case.
Actually, the opposite is true. It explains the complexity of his psychology, far greater than he just turned into a bad guy. You can literally see the change in his eyes, when Heisenberg is present. Watch the scene where he’s taking off his sweater when he says “I am the one who knocks”.
@@Tim21189it doesn’t add complexity to his character at all, it actually removes it. If all his actions could be summed up as part of some mental health problem, like Dissociative Identity Disorder or Schizophrenia, it takes away part of the blame from Walter himself. He shouldn’t be given so easy an explanation. It almost excuses his actions to say he was mentally ill. In truth, there is no “Heisenberg”, not really. There’s just one man, Walter White, whose personality changed the more he made terrible decisions. By the end of the show, he does indeed seem like a totally different person. But that’s because his values changed, his inhibitions loosened, he became callous, learned to put himself before others etc etc. He didn’t suddenly developed multiple personalities, he just developed as a person, in a bad way… the moment he got the cancer diagnosis, he began a journey of personal change. Mostly based around getting revenge against the world and making up for all the things he didn’t do in his life so far. Personally, i’m a totally different person now to who I was 5 years ago, but that’s not because I dissociated from my younger self, I just grew and changed. That’s just life. But then some people never go through huge leaps of personal change and development in their lives, many stay mostly the same throughout the majority of their adult life. So it makes sense why Walter’s transformation would look like a split personality to them.
The dichotomy isn't literal. Walt doesn't have some sort of split personality disorder because he's able to remember his actions as "Heisenberg" rather than mentally forget them as "Walt." He actively chooses to dissociate from his actions for reasons of pragmatism and some degree of suppressed guilt, but it isn't two different personalities. Walt and Heisenberg are quite literally the same exact personality.
