By far one of the best examinations I’ve heard regarding spiritual growth within a society that inhibits growth. Growth as an individual becomes impossible when you are forced to jump back and forth between spiritual and material. At the end of the day, a society can’t rob you of who you are unless you allow it to, so find peace in the chaos and stand strong in your convictions. The material is temporary but your spiritual journey is eternal.

Guys the office helped me get through the first few months of my mom's death, she died on august 1st of this year 2024 and i started watching the office on august 5th as a way to escape my dark nights. i finished the series two days ago and i've to say that i cried as if i was also part of the production, but i simply cried because with this series the hardest days i've ever spent in my life were gone. it is impossible to imagine that you can laugh in those days, but all of you made it possible. thank you from the bottom of my heart from a Venezuelan girl living in Poland. I think as far as emotional awareness and awareness of mental illness, I think those are helpful as long as we then use that awareness to reconceptualize and heal from that mental illness and to generate less of the potentially harmful emotions, like anger. Awareness alone can make you feel worse or can cause you to just think there's something wrong with your brain permanently.

The thing that terrifies me about algorithms is that don’t just track your positive responses. Likes and follows do affect it, but even the slightest hesitation to keep scrolling tells the algorithm that you’re interested. Even if the reason for that hesitation is shock, disgust, or anger. It’s going to show you videos that make you feel those things too just to keep you engaged.

The government seems just as vulnerable to corruption as corporate powers... Also, when the government can demonstrate that they are capable of managing money without racking up outrageous debt, then, maybe we could revisit giving them a larger allowance.

Thanks for this. Fully agree, and I needed this reminder. I always loved the word "Manna" in the stories of Moses. A likely carefully used outdated word/pun of the time meaning something along the lines as, "what is this?". For 40 years wondering in circles of the deseret, turned away from what was and known, towards an unkown, but promised land, surviving every day on the "bread of the Lord" - "manna" - "what is this?".
