The great travel adventure. The whole time watching it, I could only think, "the average tiny 50cc Scooter here in Japan has a max speed of 60kph... meaning it can effectively outrun the Stalker." xD
I have that exact Stalker. Swapped out the LRMs for a pair of SRMs and chainfire them. Stacked double HSs and maxxed armor. You can keep up an almost constant barrage of SRMs.
11:40 I had the same thought...never actually tried it but wondered as well if getting a light mech, leaving your team a bit behind for long range cover fire and you just running in the base at 100km/h smashing stuff would work. But then, I got my King Crab with 2 AC20-BF and totally destroyed bases from range so it left my mind a bit.
That third stalker seems like too much heat management, hell, you could probably upgrade one or more of those MLs to LLs and drop a couple singles and still run cold.
I love watching your videos, since they provide me a better understanding of different build ups. Honestly I like that game a lot, since I wasn't that much into MW:online but was totally a fan of MW4:Vengeance back then (you see, for MW I am more a single player gamer, still love the Coop Possibility tho). But of course this game got some pretty obvious weaknesses as well: 1. Prasentation- I totally understand, that Piranha doesn't have the budget to drop Cinematics all the time. Still it would be great to have at least a better story presentation than we have here. 2. The missions are extremely repetative. (For "grind" missions, thats fine for me. But most of the story missions are technically the same.) 3. AI. I find myself pretty often getting mad at the AI since they keep stepping right in front of me all time. Also they keep turning their backs to the enemy from time to time (which can be a pretty dumb idea if an enemy Atlas is sitting on the other side of the battlefield). In defense missions the AI keeps running through the buildings we like to protect (if you do not tell em to stay outside, where they can end up as an easy target for a spawned enemy lance) I do not regret the buy of this game at all. I just hope, that the game is a success for Piranha and that they will have more budget for the next one, so that they are able to work on the weak points of this one. Thanks for the great "let's plays" mate- Greetings from cologne. Keep it up!
steiner scout lance would be more like 4 zeus, since its the most favored assault design of the steiner forces and its quite fast for an assault. the 4 atlas lance is more of a meme that came from the atlas being the most iconic assault mech.
Get yourself a BJ-A hero mech, the Blackjack with 6 machineguns, and refit it with a PPC and 2 ML and bring 3 tons of ammo. Proceed to solo every demo mission at any rating. Run in, spam MG on the base, and GTFO. Works everytime and is very low risk damage costs wise.
Yes it is possible. I base rushed with BROARL in his campaign in steiner. We were 150tons light on a 400 ton mission and pulled it off quite profitable
Baradul be buying and trying all the Mechs, and hire all the pilots. If I was playing I'd probably keep like 4-5 Mechs, and only keep like 4-5 pilots at any one time lol
You cant really play with 4 or 5 mechs or pilots, you need say 8 mechs min so you can have a good selection of mechs and do consecutive missions (more money and rep in half the time). I would go with 6 pilots as its annoying when 2 get killed or injured.
I didn't skip that long waltz :D Also I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your hard work on your channel and the content. You deserve way more subs and views. Merry Christmas and happy holidays from Hungary!
That Stalker 3F you bought in this episode could make for a great long range support potentially - I can see you running 2 PPCs and a bunch of LRM 10s on that thing.
19:23 why did you sell your Shadowhawk? The urbie would have just gone straight to cold storage. Which you could be using to keep your quarterlies down. Especially when you have so many large mechs, I find it easier to keep a standard group for the general tonnage I am around and keep the rest in storage until I need to swap them out. I save way more on quarterlies than the cost of refitting. However, I realise you are probably keeping them out to switch up your team comps and keep the fights more interesting that the same crew every time. Sacrificing practicality for entertainment. Keep up the good work!
The thing with the pilots becoming too interchangeable rings true, i had a very homicidal female pilot which i would have loved to keep for the unique flair she provided. Unfortunately, she just wasn't good enough. The enthusiasm for the latest Star Wars on the other hand i do not understand at all, that was the most nonsensical and scattered story ever.
A bit late to the party here, but in answer to best 2019 game, I really enjoyed Outerworlds for some of the best role playing gameplay in a while (as in actually role playing conversations and outcomes not running around blasting things until you are max level) and I also loved Death Stranding for some very unique gameplay and interesting interactions with the community. Only started playing MW5 about a month ago, but loving it too. Thanks for all the gameplay footage, playing this along just after I progress ahead of you, can’t have any spoilers now can I?!
you should put one or two of your mechs in cold storage, then you free up space, strip the mechs and you get to use them for a rainy day :).... i did this mission a few days ago, the port part was hard :)
I'm using stalkers as fire support LRM mech's, tripple atlas and one support. Works well :) 4 lrm15st + art and some light lasers for if it needs it. AI seems to do well enough with having four lrm's.
I was lucky to get Rifleman Legendary Killer. Thats an awesome mech. It easy can carry double AC/10 with enough ammo & 4 ml, with full armor installed. Thats a fearsome firepower for a 60t mech.
I finished the game last night. My 400 ton lance is an Anh1x anlaniator a king crab an As7d atlas and the Nightstar. For the lighter weight say 340 tons I run my anialator plus 3 awesome mechs. If I'm allowed 370 it's my ah1x the king crab and then a cyclops and an awesome. 4 lb10x solids will devastate anything on the battlefield. I literally took down the king crab in the campaign mission in 4 blasts to it's center torso from full freaking health at 200 meter's.
You absolutely can just run into those demo missions (better in raid) and take MG's or flamers to the structures then leave without casualties. In the early game I dropped just myself in a PHX-1, with dual MG's and solo'd demo's and raids for max c-bills. Toward Rep 7 I had to have backup, I used a BJ-1 lancemate, later upgraded to a RFL-1N, and it was really fun playing in a guerrilla style. now in Rep 10 upwards you need to be more careful, in Co-Op its a lot easier to keep the guerrilla tactic but AI don't cut it.
Heat management can be a feature if you want, Running a Kintaro GB with 6 srm's and 3 Mp's. 4 shots and hes out, but in 3 he takes out anything up till 80 ton.
Should try dual PPCs and LRMs on the Stalker for a long range support build. Could also go with a TAG in the side torso, an PPC on the other side and Medium lasers elsewhere. I like Tags on my AI pilots because they always have them on. Put them in the head or CT if you can to protect them since they're so rare.
While you are close to Steiner space, you may want to see if Hesperis II is in a industrial hub. Should be, considering it's the largest mech plant in the inner sphere.
put all your points into salvage, they makes way more money than repairs and c-bills. Especially late game when you get a lot more salvage points the difference is massive
Annihilators are great for most defense missions, it's just a wall of dakka. Right now I have three, 1 with LBX10 slugs, 1 with UAC5's, and one with ERPPC's, all three are fun whenever you don't have to walk anywhere. For me, game of the year is probably Borderlands 3. I really wanted Metro Exodus, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw or Mechwarrior5 to be it but they all felt too clunky to really take it. (haven't played Outer Worlds so would likely be a contender) Though I still love MW5 even for all of its glaring, glow in the dark, incredibly obvious flaws.
on earlier difficulties I was doing raids on a spider-A with the AMS dropped and an ac2BF instead of machineguns the extra armor was better than the 4 tons of missile shields it was pretty good but higher difficulties caused problems with just too much firepower
I have found that with higher difficulty raid missions, it's easier to use a light mech and have my three ai buddies in some sort of heavy firepower. I found a hero spider mech long ago and kept it in my arsenal. Seems it was a good purchase because it was far easier to run around the battlefield with that than trying to survive the onslaught on some missions. My team barely took any damage. Maybe it's the hero spider's unique loadout with the AMS but it works quite well.
i found out something helpful: use the "move to point" command on AI it makes them move and attack on their way, while the "form on me" command makes them prioritise movement over shoting. and damn that underweight drop came to cost u =( i heared it is poossible to just use light mechs, u just have to be sneaky about it and keep cover between u and the enemy mechs, if u can avoid most of the incoming fire u can tear down the base and extract before they shred u
Might want to keep a lookout for the Hero Battlemaster: 6 Energy (2 large and maybe 2 med) and 3 Missile (small I think) hardpoints, 6 DHS and 64 kph (and I think 3 engine HS slots). Could be a good brawler to go with one CQC stalker while you set up 2 more stalkers to fire from a ridge.
I'm glad I'm not the only Star Wars fan who actually liked Ep9. My wife and kids demanded we go to see Episode 9... I was expecting a total dumpster fire. I was impressed that JJ accomplished what he did. I completely agree that there was too much shoved into a 150min film...Another 30 minutes would have definitely helped. Overall, I liked it.
You can shoot and hit with srms and AC20s well outside of their stated range, takes abit of practice, but you can deal with tanks and choppers just fine. So no, I don't feel like you need LRMs or long range stuff. But PPCs and Gauss are both glorious in this game :D
Are there any planets with different gravity? Also, wouldn't it be cool if Mechs could deploy drones, whether armed or not, or just as spotter drones? I don't think drones are in any of the canon Mech background, but it would still be pretty handy.
Boomerang spotter plane, but its piloted not a UAV. Many of my units use them routinely. Cheap, fly high enough to prevent effective AAA and have good cameras. Just dont deploy if you dont have air superiority. UAVs would make sense, but had to oncorporate video feed into game.
The Banshee-3S is actually really good, tons of hardpoints and armor, and an arm with nothing on it that you can shield with. I recommend picking one up if you see it. Not the others though.
@@matthewwolff6013 I have one in my game and it's done some work for me but I currently find myself more fascinated with a Stalker and SRM6s like Baradul has been. It's so good at blasting through other mechs. The only downsides are the slow walk speed and the high heat build up even with like 6 double heatsinks equipped.
The 3E is a waste of space and the 3M has some promise but is still a let down. Just stuck to an Awesome, 3 PPC's on chain fire and all those heat sinks, great :)
The mech name shows up in the lance selection screen before missions- when you change the mech in a slot the choices have any names that you've given the 'mech. Would be nice if it also showed in the refit screen as well, assuming you were going to assign each 'mech "permanently" to a pilot (or even without that assumption), as it makes it easier to tailor each 'mech to s specific playstyle and not accidentally refit the one you wanted as a brawler to a fire support, but forget about the loadout change and just grab the one with the name you've given for a particular role.
You can with a heavy or medium mech i do it all the time in demolition it's quite funny . But I suggest machine guns give some range . Thunder bolt is good or wolverine from personal knowledge. Something 64kph or higher is a must.
for the fourth stalker you could make an energy heavy build with 4ml and 2ll with your choice of lurms. would fit neatly into brawler stalker, lurm stalker and mixed/lore build.
Remember Bara! If you have lems, just target and let your lance deal the pain. Always make your engagements defensive. Especially where lights are involved. That way, by the time lights get to you, they are wrecked from lrm barrages and easily finished!
With re. to the HPG not giving as much "damage" to the base as some other times, I think it's tied in to the size of the base. In a small base with only a few buildings, each building destroyed takes a good chunk of "health" off the base. In a large base, that percentage has (kinda obviously) be much smaller. That being said, I'm pretty sure those HPGs count for a larger percentage than one of those small barracks or whatever they are supposed to be. Edit: Also, "we have to many 'mechs" - Talk about 1st world problems :)
yes but you use machine guns they do tons of dmg to buildings fast. keep your lance outside the base. the higher rank missions seem quite hard to pull off without losing pieces of your mech. which makes using high tier equipment pointless unless its only on your mech
What do you mean the full stalker lance won't work? The mech is so versatile. Make two your LRM Long range support, the other two the SRM brawlers. Or if you are worried about the AI support, make all three of them long range support, and set yours up for brawl!
It's squishy for an assault mech... I could not get mine to work even when driving it myself. AI would lose it more often than not and that's quite expensive.
Time to rename your Merc outfit: "Baradul's Stalkers" 🤔😳😄 I HIGHLY recommend you keep your Stalkers as LRM fire support, ESPECIALLY when loaded with DHSs. The A.I. will prioritize aggressiveness and engagement distance based on loadout. Your SRM/MLaser build keeps getting torn apart because the A.I. charges in for toe-to-toe engagements, but can't maneuver fast enough at close range...much the same problem as in MWO. The DOWNSIDE to LRM heavy Stalkers is with how often the enemy spawns directly behind them. I found that 4 LRM10s on chain (6 tons ammo), 4 MLasers, and rear armor around 25, gives you a VERY scary, and stupid effective Stalker, that NEVER suffers crippling damage. If you want Assault brawlers with DHS, stick to your Atlas, Highlander, Battlemaster, and Victor (the latter two are pretty maneuverable). The Highlander is pretty sick. BTW: Try the UAC5, Dual LLasers and Dual MLasers on your Marauder. I REALLY think you'll enjoy it. 😁
The AI always favors closing as long as it has any close range weapons. To make them keep range you need to remove all close range weapons. LRM's are very bad overall with the current way things spawn in closely and most fightes end up as knife-fights.
is there a simple way to see the detailed state of our lance by cycling among our mechs using the Q key? right now I clic Q and see one of them, but can't cycle among them unless I manually target each of them with my reticule.
So a suggestion for you, maybe decide which pilot you will assign to a mech first and then build the mech based on the pilots skill set. Of course you may whatever you like but I am suggesting for Is for A.I pilots.
It would have been amazing if they added actual melee brawling into the game. It would add a whole other layer of play to certain mechs like the centurion or grasshopper or dragon. but i get how that mechanic might have been tabled because of resource limitation in developing the game
When you're in a conflict zone it's ok to repair mechs that have taken armor damage... the extra cost isn't THAT bad. And it will let you linger longer before having to hit a hub. Save mechs that have lost limbs/weapons for that.
Armour damage isnt too expensive, just watch out for the % in the zone you are fighting, it could be 45% or 300% extra, gets really expensive when you start replacing parts and would suggest going to a hub if you are short on cash and repair there.

yay for the 3F! my second assualty mech I bought. It carried me thru some very tough missions. I run 2 large lasers, 4 mediums, 2 srm 4's, 2 lrm 10s
I have that exact Stalker. Swapped out the LRMs for a pair of SRMs and chainfire them. Stacked double HSs and maxxed armor. You can keep up an almost constant barrage of SRMs.
Cul-puh-bility is the phenetic pronunciation.
Baradul is nothing if he isn't accurate.
Love your channel!!!!!
Archie is down.... Meg and Harry are not amused.....
;-)
That third stalker seems like too much heat management, hell, you could probably upgrade one or more of those MLs to LLs and drop a couple singles and still run cold.
Oriente is a major industrial and political center/state in Free World League.
Oriente, Regulus, Marik and Andurien are the big 4 for the FWL.
Mordhau was my Number 1 of the releases this year, i also played through Banner Saga this year and was completly hooked by it.
But of course this game got some pretty obvious weaknesses as well:
1. Prasentation- I totally understand, that Piranha doesn't have the budget to drop Cinematics all the time. Still it would be great to have at least a better story presentation than we have here.
2. The missions are extremely repetative. (For "grind" missions, thats fine for me. But most of the story missions are technically the same.)
3. AI. I find myself pretty often getting mad at the AI since they keep stepping right in front of me all time. Also they keep turning their backs to the enemy from time to time (which can be a pretty dumb idea if an enemy Atlas is sitting on the other side of the battlefield). In defense missions the AI keeps running through the buildings we like to protect (if you do not tell em to stay outside, where they can end up as an easy target for a spawned enemy lance)
I do not regret the buy of this game at all. I just hope, that the game is a success for Piranha and that they will have more budget for the next one, so that they are able to work on the weak points of this one.
Thanks for the great "let's plays" mate- Greetings from cologne. Keep it up!
Stalkers are light Mechs? So you're a Steiner I see.
Steiner scout lance best scout lance.
Holy coincidence, I read your comment just as he said that stalkers are light mechs
steiner scout lance would be more like 4 zeus, since its the most favored assault design of the steiner forces and its quite fast for an assault. the 4 atlas lance is more of a meme that came from the atlas being the most iconic assault mech.
I did a few lone wolf raids and demolitions in a Locust LCT-1E. It totally works, and it's cheap.
"Here comes Johnny!" Great reference.
Yes it is possible. I base rushed with BROARL in his campaign in steiner. We were 150tons light on a 400 ton mission and pulled it off quite profitable
One thing for using a lot of weapons I found very useful. chain fire srms for heat and pulse lasers if needed.
I didn't skip that long waltz :D
Also I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your hard work on your channel and the content. You deserve way more subs and views.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from Hungary!
I didn't skip either, it is just part of the game!
That Stalker 3F you bought in this episode could make for a great long range support potentially - I can see you running 2 PPCs and a bunch of LRM 10s on that thing.
Really enjoying the series, keep it up!
Ah, the Rifleman, my favorite heavy mech. It mounts RACs so well. . .
Best game of the year nay decade.. Battletech! After all MC2 is what brought me to your channel/stream originally.
Baradul, you can sell a mech from active storage, pull a mech from cold storage to active & sell that then buy back your initial mech at no loss.
A better salvage and pilots mod is a must for this game.
Toward Rep 7 I had to have backup, I used a BJ-1 lancemate, later upgraded to a RFL-1N, and it was really fun playing in a guerrilla style. now in Rep 10 upwards you need to be more careful, in Co-Op its a lot easier to keep the guerrilla tactic but AI don't cut it.
the hero blackjack has 6 machineguns and either 3 flamers or 2 med lasers and a ppc/large laser...that is my building destroyer.
Oriente is a territory within FWL space, and the last e is silent as far as I'm aware.
Heat management can be a feature if you want,
Running a Kintaro GB with 6 srm's and 3 Mp's.
Pretty sure it was five head shots in a row using the Gauss Rifle while playing Battletech. Rifleman always had a spot on the team.
The writing in this game is in desperate need of more linebreaks. :D
on earlier difficulties I was doing raids on a spider-A with the AMS dropped and an ac2BF instead of machineguns
the extra armor was better than the 4 tons of missile shields
it was pretty good but higher difficulties caused problems with just too much firepower
My friends and I have wanted UAVs available many a time in MW5. :D
@@Artificer1911 Technically the 3rd person cam and freecam are counted as "Camera drones."
Table top, the 3S can destroy any assault or heavy, period. Best mech in the game stock.
Flamers/machine guns are a very viable choice on destruction missions😉
Hell yeah i am going to watch episode 9 today.
If you want to run multiple Stalkers so you will need lot of spare parts. I had 2 in my lance and i had to replace weapons a lot.
That's why I dropped my Stalker after a few missions having it completely stripped or even destroyed. I tried long and short range builts.
Large energy mounts...use ppc lrm fire support stalkers and 2 brawlers
yes but you use machine guns they do tons of dmg to buildings fast. keep your lance outside the base. the higher rank missions seem quite hard to pull off without losing pieces of your mech. which makes using high tier equipment pointless unless its only on your mech
Time to rename your Merc outfit: "Baradul's Stalkers" 🤔😳😄
I HIGHLY recommend you keep your Stalkers as LRM fire support, ESPECIALLY when loaded with DHSs. The A.I. will prioritize aggressiveness and engagement distance based on loadout.
Stalker lance = so slow we get storytime with Baradul! :D
I would make the Stalker 3F´s srm Brawlers and the H the LRM supporter with maybe 2 lrm 15 and 2 Lrm 10
is there a simple way to see the detailed state of our lance by cycling among our mechs using the Q key? right now I clic Q and see one of them, but can't cycle among them unless I manually target each of them with my reticule.
If you have all mech bays occupied, use cold storage or sell.
does anyone know if his stream is father along than his youtube play through? I want to see his first experience when he completes the campaign.
And the Urban Mech was put into cold storage and never seen again. 🤣
Well, stalker has large energy hardpoints so u could do lrm large laser/ppc build
What is the website that you use to see what the load out of the mechs are? Great video you have taught me alot for my play through.
It's Sarna.net, really good place for Battletech lore.
The light mechs are like hyenas, chewing your ass off, nasty but quite effective.
I saw a J. Edgar just under 7 minutes in...how the heck did they get hover armor to work in here, but still a big issue in HBS Battletech?
rip Sumire
27:00 why didn't you sell the VA and the Urbie to get the slug thrower?
He didn't want to strip a mech just to sell a mech. He mentioned that he made a mistake not selling the Urbie while it was in his inventory.
The Blimp Brigade!
