Cool video. I learned more about these snipers in 5 mins than I have from those angry old guys in those hotrod forums.

cool video. good info. you probably wouldn't have had a problem if you didn't oversize your fuel pump by about 4x's what you needed for that motor.. stock 5.8's used like a 100lph pump i think? then you have an undersized return for that pump.. need at least 6an (3/8").. while i know the saying goes, "bigger is better", it doesn't always apply. you're probably heating/aerating your fuel because its cycling so much.

Thanks, and ya I fully agree. Plans are to stroke the motor and run nitrous so was more of a future choice, but didn’t realize it’d cause the current issues, oh well! However the regulator still caused the majority of my high pressure issues as you can see at the 1:15 mark of the video :)

@@streetbrwlrsmuscle8115 gotcha. it still may have had issues with smaller pump. just guessing. not sure what power you're looking to go to, but you may need to upgrade those fuel lines to 8an as well. i ran 8's on mine for feed/return with dual walbro 255's. currently turbo 302, future plans are 351 stroker with twins. i may need an additional 8an and larger pumps later, but right now, i only need to run 1 of the walbros.

Dont push on thin metal part of regulator diaphragm. It will mess it up.

Yes would never recommend doing this to a properly working regulator. Just a way to diagnose until a replacement comes from Holley :)

Great video thank you. BTW what's the name of the song in the introduction?

What were the initial symptoms that indicated you had a regulator problem? I've got a new Sniper on a Windsor 347 and the idle is really erratic once the engine gets up to operating temperature. The AFR reading tries to maintain around 13, but drops and then bumps up to 22, then surges, then repeats. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge installed yet.

To be honest didn’t have any symptoms that I know of lol just figured it out when I put the gauge on. Hmm those are odd symptoms, have you checked for RFI?

I got similar troubles let me know what fixed it I'm looking into getting a guage and fitting for the sniper so I can monitor and see if there is a problem here.

I can’t fully say. We sent my unit back to Hollley believing the problem to be in the unit, not an installation error. So far we’re still waiting to hear back from them. They’ve had it for 3weeks.

I have an issue where I turn it on it goes to like 80 to 85 psi then a few seconds later it drops to mid 30's PSI? Won't run no leaks.

Are you saying your return line is a restriction?
I have a 400lph pump and 3/8 feed with a 5/16 return and never had pressure issues. I am using the edelbrock system which has it stay at 43psi--36 at idle due to being vacuum referenced.
This is on a 489 making around 650 horse.

Sounds like a pretty awesome setup you have! Nah saying the main problem for sure was the regulator, hooking up the return did bump my fuel pressure up 4-5 ish psi, but can’t be sure until I get the new replacement regulator from Holley in instead of the one I messed around with!

@@streetbrwlrsmuscle8115 You haven't gotten it yet??
I see okay I was like I can't believe it, but I have seen weird crap like that.
I have a camaro and just used my old charcoal canister hard line to the rear. Keep on working on it, looks like a nice car!

So I’ve had issues with my EFI. Called Holley came down to them telling me I need to figure out what my fuel pressure is (cause it’s so expensive that they couldn’t add that to the EFI) so I bought the earls gauge. My pressure just primed is about 59psi with the motor running warmed up on park it was at 99psi !!!!

    • @streetbrwlrsmuscle8115

Street Brwlrs Muscle Well I contacted Holley and they were suppose to send me a new fuel regulator and fuel pump(which I don’t think I needed) but I actually just installed the new pump. They didn’t send the regulator so technically no. Now with the new pump it’s so much more quiet but throwing was passed 100psi. I need the regulator ASAP.

those internal regulator designs are junk, put an external and be done with it
