Chuks sama hi there I’m just wondering how is the laptop after a time of use? I’m buying a second hand laptop of this type and it cost 400$usd And I’m not a hardcore gamer, just playing dota2 and mabinogi so far. But if I’m getting this game i might play newer games like PUBG so I’m just wondering if it’s worth the price and for this generation. Thankyou!
So what do you guys think of the Acer V Nitro? I'll post an update regarding the heating issues on my website and here once I receive another review unit. ***UPDATE*** I have a new one in the studio. Video coming out this week! Stay tuned!****
Matthew Moniz heating is my main concern. It's such an amazing device. Could you please do a video on undervolting and sharing your results? Some people have gotten 10-20 degrees cooler cpus after undervolting.
I just bought this laptop to replace my Predator 17 and I was going to review as a follow up to my Predator 17 review but you did such a great job that I'm not going to bother. I agree with most of your points. I didn't have any issues with my screen turning off but there is definitely more screen flex than I'm comfortable with. I kind of expected it since it's so thin. I have seen it get very hot as well. Not to a point where it's uncomfortable to touch, but definitely hot. The only real issue I have is that my mousepad makes an annoying click sound when I touch it (even softly) as if there is a tiny bit of space between the mousepad and the buttons underneath. It's difficult to explain but it drives me crazy in a quiet room. I think I'm going to just buy a VX or something. I loved the predator but it's not something I feel comfortable taking to a meeting lol
Felix Nguyen , Matthew Moniz : So I've bought this laptop today and I recognized that when it was charging, the fans became really loud but when I've stopped the charging the laptop became reeeaaaaally quite while gaming. Same with overheating. I hope I could help you. :)
I've subcribed to your channel for 4 months now and i realy like your review, the duration isn't too long, detailed information and most important thing is you're an honeat reviewer. One of the example is this Acer V Nitro Video. Please do an update to this video KEEP IT UP & Thanks Matthew
One of the few laptops you can change the thermal paste on yout own very easy. I took liquid metall instead of thermal paste, now the temperatures went 20 degrees down and in my opinion it's now the most beautiful laptop.
fady haddad yeah! I have one and its amazing, good frames with the 1050 version. if Dell ever decided to make a 1060 version its game over for other budget gaming laptops
I Really Like the specs of this laptop, I am considering this one and the MSI GS43VR, This one has a pretty good specs with a affordable value, but due to the Heating issue, i will wait for the update, Great Video as always Matthew! :)
Yeah I have this same Laptop and my laptop is overheading, too. But i have to say that I had no problems with the screen and with a hot keyboard. It is just fine and what i find out is that the CPU seems to be the problem here. The GPU only hits low 80 °C. Therefore i deactivated turbo boost (CPU can only reach 2800 MHz) and that seems to help a lot. Sure, you lose some power but it feels much more comfortable.
F191984 Sadly, there is no option in the BIOS. I simply set the max processing power to 99% in windows power management. Therefore it runs 2673 MHz max and does not start intel's turbo boost
Hey! Just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos. They're high quality and just what I look for when I need to find reviews on products. I've been looking for a gaming laptop for ages, and maybe this one won't stand out as much when I bring it to uni!
Very informative video man, I've been looking for a gaming laptop for a while now. Def in the top 5. Thanks for putting out quality reviews and congrats on not making the whole thing a long, spec filled video haha
I really appreciate that you informed us thoroughly on heat problem that this laptop has. Editing nicely done and the music was on point. Keep it up. ;)
For anyone having a problem with games running at a normal or high frame rate for a while, then eventually dropping extremely, all you have to do is plug in your charger whenever the frame rate drops.
Oh, one other thing. This laptop comes with an add-on called Acer Quick Access. If you open it up it has a feature called CoolBoost. I don't know why, but by default it IS TURNED OFF!!!! Turning CoolBoost on got me another 10 degrees C cooler (that's in addition to the 10-15 degrees cooler by undervolting the CPU). CoolBoost basically boosts the speed of the fans.
A great review as always Matt, I do have a 2016 V Nitro Black edition (960 M graphic card) and it doesnt have the heating issues you encountered. Perhaps its a faulty unit. Battery life leaves more to be desired but a great screen and portability-wise really good on the go.
I have the V17 592G and also have no particular problems with heat. The fans are working hard though. After quite some use, the bezels still look ok. But the surface (yes, that making the cool noise) looks pretty scratched.
Jonathan Suniga why,oh ya Acer VX 15 is 1000$ in India n the Lenovo Y500 is 1300$,n some of the gaming laptops are not even available here, anyway I'm broken!!! 😢😢😢
Arktic Punk honestly I hate when it's thin all around and then at the bottom it has like a 6 inch bezel lol i just hate the bottom bezel being so much bigger than the rest it's not that bad on this one honestly
using v-sync might be able to keep the temperature down a bit. because now the GPU is constantly on 100% pushing 120fps in overwatch on a 60hz display.
I bought this unit a few days ago. It doesn't get hot at all when idle. It does get hot during gaming. MSI Afterburner showed the CPU reaching 92-97 degrees C. I undervolted the CPU and now it stays 77-82 degrees C. I'm anxious to see your follow up video. It seems undervolting is what a lot of laptop owners are doing to help with this problem.
Great review, Matt! The overheating and the battery life would be the deal breakers for me for a gaming laptop, which is too bad considering the specs and design of the V Nitro. I'd be interested to see if the issues were just one-off's, or they rear their ugly head again on a replacement review unit. Keep up the good work as always!
No update to your video yet? I have the Acer Nitro VN7-793-709A. I don't have a heating problem, but I don't play games to know if it would overheat in that scenario. My screen doesn't have any problems either. I LOVE this laptop.
Hi Matthew!!! I'm planning to buy this laptop, generally i like the acer company, they make good products. i just wanted to know the wattage of the power supply, and is it big? I mean, is it too much??
I have probably the first version of this laptop (Haswell + GTX 860m), and I love it. It's probably one of my favorite rigs. Your review unit might be defective. Then again Acer is touch-and-go when it comes to reliability. I once got an Acer ultrabook with a corrupted hard drive out of the box.
I think the MM updated review of the V Nitro is the most anticipated video on UA-cam! I really want to buy this one, but I live in a hot country. Probably have to go with the 6th gen Intel Acer Predator 15. Let's see how the new one works though.
Hey i was looking into the vx15 with the 1050ti but then saw this with the 1060. i love everything about this labtop but worried about defects. any suggestions for a gaming labtop with a 1060 under 1500 bucks. love your vids man keep up the awesome work. random question if the v nitro ran perfectly would you recommend this or the predator 15? thanks again
When you show us the internals of the laptop around 1:39, it looks like there a bare CPU/GPU die right in the middle of laptop, above the battery? Was there no heatsink for that? Looking at the black heatsinks at the top of the laptop, I only see mounting positions for 1 CPU/GPU die. That could be causing the overheating.
Thanks Matthew great review I think many need to do what Sammy has to do now go back and do some testing before they release.Looks really nice and keyboard looks cool just did not like the play in the display area.Especially for a gaming laptop I can see with all moving around a while gaming could be a issue.and the fact that it gets that hot. I do like keyboard looks great. Thanks love the different Products you Review Deb.
A little late, but I've had the VN7-593G-70U4 for about six months and have never experienced the problems you have had--my screen is even less wobbly/flexes less than yours. I honestly think something went seriously wrong in the manufacturing of your specific device. Being said, mine does get fairly hot in the area just above the keyboard when gaming/running a heavy workload and the charger is plugged in--not too hot to touch, but hotter than is comfortable to bear for long. With out the charger, it's still pretty hot. I don't find the heat to be too much of an issue. However, my only real complaint is the reason I included having the charger plugged in while gaming et cetera: the battery, specifically the battery life. The battery life is barely what I would consider to be decent when just surfing the web, watching youtube, and other basic shit. Through a game on or try rendering a video for very long unplugged and you'll suddenly notice in maybe, just maybe, an hour that everything looks as if the slow mo guys just took over your life. But, it's ok, that nightmare is not real. What is, on the other hand, is that the battery reduction is so steep that the 1060 decides with the rate of change this sharp, it better slow the fuck down or dem police gonna be rollin up soon, and we all know way too well that when dem haters with badges pull up, somebody dying...yeah the battery is the only shit stain on this laptop's otherwise fairly unblemished reputation (within its class/price range).
I appreciate that they were able to put a 1060 in there, but considering how previous models have always had a 1050/1050Ti-class chip in terms of wattage (860M, 960M) instead of a higher power one like the 970M (about the same wattage as a 1060), they probably didn't plan out the cooling too well, and that's probably why it got really hot.
damn... I hope you get a new unit to review and like you said not defective... I thought I saw what I'm looking for.. The Specs, the pricing and the design... Real sweet spot for the price.. too bad the thermals are not on the mark... looking forward for a new unit to be reviewed. but this one is gorgeous....
Hey Matt. Thanks for this review. Especially thanks for the frank comment that you cannot recommend it at this time. There are just so many options available these days that you have to think twice about where you'd like to invest your hard earned cash. Being straight-up about a product also helps to look further than just the specs that the manufacturers want you to focus on. Cheers!
I've had the same display issue. In my case it was a loose connection between the display and motherboard. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but it's possible the ribbon is damaged
I would like to see a video dedicated to talking about thermals on laptops. It seems like they either run fine with a 1050 or burn you when you touch them with a 1060.
+FubarMike I just released this video. Acer is sending me another unit. I should have it this week or early next week. Will update as soon as I get it.
I have one, but I'm not seeing a disc drive...do they not have one? I keep trying to find out by searching online, but no one seems to even mention it as though they're not necessary these days... Not all games offer web downloads...
did you already get the second unit? wanna have some more information on the thermals (especially under load) of this laptop (heard everything from really good cooling to really bad cooling)
I used to have one, and the rubber plastic texture on the lid starts coming off and it's bright silver underneath which makes it look really bad. The sound was really good. Gaming was great
Ok so I had the same problem with my Acer aspire 17 Inch overheating so i repasted the gpu and cpu I also use notebook fan control with a custom fan speed profile and now my idle temp is 35 to 40 degrees centigrade and under max load 85 degrees there is also no more thermal throttling the keyboard still gets hot but it’s manageable but above the keyboard the metal strip can still get hot enough to hurt to the touch.
nice video! maybe its thermal paste as you said, could you maybe try putting a laptop stand cooler underneath it and measure temps again? this worked great on my laptop, temps dropped by 5-8 degrees celcius on CPU :)
It's way too that a laptop cooler won't even do anything. My guess is the thermal paste. I'm going to request another review unit and see what happens.
i"m actually hoping its the paste on this model, but then again i was really shocked by its size when you compared it to the other acer gaming laptop, lets hope for the best (and a non-defective screen, that would also be nice haha xD)
Love your review videos :) I recently returned a VX15 because the touch pad was defective :( Great screen, nice hardware, fast, light, ran cool...but quality control issues...come on Acer you can do better than this! I went back to MSI ;)
It could be that you got a defective one. And if there's a lot of issues in other units then Acer should fix this asap. I like how cool the VX15 is so hopefully it'll be as cool as that when the issue is fixed.
I wonder why many people don't recommend to buy 4k gaming laptop. I know that there is no laptop that can run moden games in 4k, but can't l just lower the resolution to fhd? Or it would be too blurred?
Денис Ковырков they're just not called "1080m", but the laptop version is still around 10% weaker than desktop version. And a 1080 can run some games in 4K, plus 4K can be useful for video /photo editing not just gaming
got mine "used" for 800, im guessing someone returned it right after buying it because of the overheating. I fixed it by reapplying thermal paste and undervolting the cpu
I have the 2017 version, so far it does get hot but only directly under the monitor, the keyboard is perfectly fine to use. I also have had to monitor issues.
Hello. I am interested in this laptop ( the 17 inch model with I7 7700k and geforce gtx 1050ti gpu ) and i would like to know if your cpu gets hot while gaming (95-99 celsius ). Could you please tell me?
0:43 when you scratch it, it makes a cool noise......that's it I'm buying it that sold me.
lolol
Matthew Moniz I'm buy it right now
Chuks sama hi there I’m just wondering how is the laptop after a time of use? I’m buying a second hand laptop of this type and it cost 400$usd

THanks man! = )
Matthew Moniz Cool Video :) I like the style

Matthew Moniz heating is my main concern. It's such an amazing device. Could you please do a video on undervolting and sharing your results? Some people have gotten 10-20 degrees cooler cpus after undervolting.
Matthew Moniz I think Acer aspire vx has a better value..
Matthew Moniz You didn't talk about Thunderbolt 3 and is it future proofed
It's literally a hot mess.
Matthew Moniz I've been watching your videos for along time your editing is the best.
I just bought this laptop to replace my Predator 17 and I was going to review as a follow up to my Predator 17 review but you did such a great job that I'm not going to bother. I'm like checking every single day for the update video. This will be the deciding factor for me to get this laptop
+Felix Nguyen haha it's coming in tomorrow !
Felix Nguyen , Matthew Moniz : So I've bought this laptop today and I recognized that when it was charging, the fans became really loud but when I've stopped the charging the laptop became reeeaaaaally quite while gaming. Same with overheating. I hope I could help you. :)
Where is it, the wait is killing us!
Matthew Moniz What happened to the video? Is it going up soon?
So what did you buy?
I've subcribed to your channel for 4 months now and i realy like your review, the duration isn't too long, detailed information and most important thing is you're an honeat reviewer. One of the example is this Acer V Nitro Video.
Please do an update to this video
KEEP IT UP & Thanks Matthew
Thanks Artyiem! = ) Acer has ordered another one and is sending it over!
for $1200 this is a great value
It is but it overheats too much / =
Matthew Moniz faulty unit presumably? since the screen was defective it might be that the cooling isn't in point
Can you use it to fry eggs?
Just saw one in store - the screen is beautiful for the price. Shame about the heat, that's mighty hot.
One of the few laptops you can change the thermal paste on yout own very easy. I took liquid metall instead of thermal paste, now the temperatures went 20 degrees down and in my opinion it's now the most beautiful laptop.
as far as now I see that the dell inspiron 7567 is the best in term of over all performance and good price and battery do you agree?
nope for me is the Acer Aspire VX15, do you agree :)
fady haddad yeah! I have one and its amazing, good frames with the 1050 version. if Dell ever decided to make a 1060 version its game over for other budget gaming laptops
I agree. I bought the Dell because it's the only one with maintenance hatch opening that does not sacrifice rigidity.
if its not with the crappy tn panel of Dell, I'll definitely choose it over Acer VX 15.
Acer, the screen on the dell is absolutely horrendous
I Really Like the specs of this laptop, I am considering this one and the MSI GS43VR, This one has a pretty good specs with a affordable value, but due to the Heating issue, i will wait for the update, Great Video as always Matthew! :)
Thanks Jolo! = )

+NanoryTV is your model the 2017 version ?
Yeah. It's the Acer Nitro V 15 VN7 593G-77GB with an Intel i7-7700HQ and GTX 1060
Use Intel XTU to drop the voltage. Helps a lot.
How can i deactivate Turboboost?? Bios?
F191984 Sadly, there is no option in the BIOS. I simply set the max processing power to 99% in windows power management. Therefore it runs 2673 MHz max and does not start intel's turbo boost
Loved the background music, so relaxing. Great review 😍
Thanks Eviee = ) I heard you were stressed so i wanted you to feel relaxed watching!
Hey! Just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos. They're high quality and just what I look for when I need to find reviews on products. I've been looking for a gaming laptop for ages, and maybe this one won't stand out as much when I bring it to uni!
I have this laptop for over 1 year now, its freakin amazing! (the older version)
Keep it up. ;)

A great review as always Matt, I do have a 2016 V Nitro Black edition (960 M graphic card) and it doesnt have the heating issues you encountered. Perhaps its a faulty unit. Battery life leaves more to be desired but a great screen and portability-wise really good on the go.
Thanks Ted! = ) I have another one coming in shortly. I'll update everyone soon!
I have the V17 592G and also have no particular problems with heat. The fans are working hard though. After quite some use, the bezels still look ok. But the surface (yes, that making the cool noise) looks pretty scratched.
Hi just want to ask, did your laptop's top surface finish chip off after some time?
Just wanted to say keep doing what you are doing because your videos are fantastic. Also, that scratching noise tho
Thanks! = )
I got the Acer VX 15 because of your review :)
+Jonathan Suniga ha glad I could help : )
Jonathan Suniga why,oh ya Acer VX 15 is 1000$ in India n the Lenovo Y500 is 1300$,n some of the gaming laptops are not even available here, anyway I'm broken!!! 😢😢😢
What year is this? Just what are those bezels??!!?!!?!?
Arktic Punk 2017
Arktic Punk 2048
Arktic Punk 2006
Arktic Punk honestly I hate when it's thin all around and then at the bottom it has like a 6 inch bezel lol i just hate the bottom bezel being so much bigger than the rest it's not that bad on this one honestly
im watching your video for a long time. your editing is the best.
Thanks Farhad! = )
using v-sync might be able to keep the temperature down a bit. because now the GPU is constantly on 100% pushing 120fps in overwatch on a 60hz display.
Great Review. You really lay out all the pros and cons professionaly in your reviews 🖒
Thanks man! = )
GPU Temps?
Pros and Cons?
GPU Temps were steady around 57 degrees.
how much you undervolting this laptop
-0.100 V
is it better to use now?
so when are you joining team crispy? haha, I love seeing how far you've gotten in editing and shot composure 💚
+Mushy Titan haha probably never my shot quality is still potatoes compared to theirs
gotta start somewhere! you're getting there I think lol
Mushy Titan haha thanks Dan! How's everything been with you ?
Matthew Moniz busy. Graduating high school the 17th of may so mentally I'm a mess
Mushy Titan oh man congrats man! Time for the next chapter of your life. Are you going to college or university?
Great review, Matt! The overheating and the battery life would be the deal breakers for me for a gaming laptop, which is too bad considering the specs and design of the V Nitro. I'd be interested to see if the issues were just one-off's, or they rear their ugly head again on a replacement review unit. Keep up the good work as always!
THanks James! = ) I already spoke to Acer, I have another one coming in!
Damn, $1300 for a GTX 1060, 16GB Ram and... i7-7700HQ
Not bad!

Of course nothing compare to a Desktop but still good for a laptop
Ya prices are getting better for good performance
Very fair review, and almost reaching 100k subs! Best luck to a fellow Canadian :)
Nice another Canadian! Thanks Jeff = )
Jeff Yu my name eh jeff!!
The overheating problem is a deal breaker.
I lost it at 'impregnated by an angry alien'. Good job with the review, as always.
haha thanks!
Great Job Matt!
love the way you shoot
Thanks Mayank = )
4:36 I think you mean...
RUN'IN IN THE 90s!
(It's a new way I like to be)
No update to your video yet? I have the Acer Nitro VN7-793-709A. I don't have a heating problem, but I don't play games to know if it would overheat in that scenario. My screen doesn't have any problems either. I LOVE this laptop.
Nice video, man. I really like your reviews like this one. They are fair, informative and crispy. Keep up the good work and have a nice day. :)

Would you recommend this for content creation too?
Great content and quality, very professional ,subbed :)
Awesome, thanks man ! Welcome to the channel = )
Love your videos mate :D keep your channel going ^^

THanks Chris! = ) You're the best! More videos to come!
Man... its the only must watch review...GREAT JOB. Wasted some time on others so called "reviews". THX
I think the MM updated review of the V Nitro is the most anticipated video on UA-cam! I really want to buy this one, but I live in a hot country. Probably have to go with the 6th gen Intel Acer Predator 15. Let's see how the new one works though.
haha it's coming soon just waiting for it to come in!
Superb Video Matt !!👍👌
Looking forward to your update video!
Thanks Felix it shouldn't be too much longer =)
Same laptop here... I repaste my laptop and CPU temperature is only 43 degree idle and reach around 80 degree during CS GO at very high setting.
mine reached 100C during CS Go... I'm pissed off with that
Hey i was looking into the vx15 with the 1050ti but then saw this with the 1060. i love everything about this labtop but worried about defects. any suggestions for a gaming labtop with a 1060 under 1500 bucks. love your vids man keep up the awesome work. random question if the v nitro ran perfectly would you recommend this or the predator 15? thanks again

The alien joke hit the nail right on the head xD Love your videos!
lol thanks Paul!
does this still heat ? should i buy this , heard it heats a lot
Which should I buy V nitro or Helios 300?
Helios 300 the v nitro overheats way too much
I appreciate that they were able to put a 1060 in there, but considering how previous models have always had a 1050/1050Ti-class chip in terms of wattage (860M, 960M) instead of a higher power one like the 970M (about the same wattage as a 1060), they probably didn't plan out the cooling too well, and that's probably why it got really hot.
Probably! It's also possible the thermal paste wasn't applied properly. I have another unit coming in! I'll update this one shortly
Love the laptop, great video Matthew! 👊
Thanks Shahriar! = )
Your welcome :)
So is acer v nitro better or hp omen with a budget of $1250??
damn... I hope you get a new unit to review and like you said not defective... I thought I saw what I'm looking for.. The Specs, the pricing and the design... Real sweet spot for the price.. too bad the thermals are not on the mark... looking forward for a new unit to be reviewed. but this one is gorgeous....
+Jerald Guevarra I know! I will for sure I'm at the Acer event right now I'll ask for one
Looking forward to it dude... Keep it up!, Oh that USB 3.0 Thunderbolt is a godsend.
Cheers!
You're welcome Heinrich! = ) Glad I could help!
i'm now in line yo buy the 7567 with the ips panel coz its so much cheaper. So one more question, 7567 or v nitro???
I've had the same display issue. In my case it was a loose connection between the display and motherboard. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but it's possible the ribbon is damaged
You can undervolt the CPU if you wanted
What's up with the screen when you move it? Is it fixable or simply just a defect?
defect of this unit
Everyone says the same: Overheating is a problem with this one. But then again it's a problem with thin computers over all..
I would like to see a video dedicated to talking about thermals on laptops. It seems like they either run fine with a 1050 or burn you when you touch them with a 1060.
great Review Matthew
Thanks Sharaajuon! Hows everything with you?
everything is going great, love relaxing and watching your vids! hope you and ur family aree doing great
Mine is still running like a boss! Except its battery has gone bad and I have to keep it plugged in the whole time I use it and it does get a lil hot
Hey Matthew, Is there any chance you can do a review on the Razer Blade 2017 14″? I'd Really like to hear your opinion on it!
Yup = ) I have it in the studio ! Stay tuned
Did you ever find out if yours was indeed defective. I checked your site and you don't mention anything.
+FubarMike I just released this video. Acer is sending me another unit. I should have it this week or early next week. Will update as soon as I get it.
ok sorry i didn't see the video date lol
hello Mathieu!! can I remove battery while playing games ? ?
I have one, but I'm not seeing a disc drive...do they not have one? I keep trying to find out by searching online, but no one seems to even mention it as though they're not necessary these days... Not all games offer web downloads...
did you already get the second unit? wanna have some more information on the thermals (especially under load) of this laptop (heard everything from really good cooling to really bad cooling)
Yup! Expect an update this week
Cool, looking forward to the update video, there's a great sale on these laptops atm here in Aus and I'll get one if thermals are good/okay.
+Matthew Moniz i cant find the update video
hi great video..it sure gets hot..i had a question though..can you replace the video card? my screen start flickering today..B(
I compare between lenovo y720 & Dell 7567 UHD. lenovo More expensive by 190$ what do you think
Still using my as my daily driver. Love this laptop.
Do you also a Problem with overheating?
Nice review👍🏽
Thanks Brian! = )
I can get one for 600 dollars is it worth it?
I used to have one, and the rubber plastic texture on the lid starts coming off and it's bright silver underneath which makes it look really bad. The sound was really good. Gaming was great
Damn that sucks.. I know the plastic silver is supposed to come off in order to open it up but the paint shouldnt
Red back light.... sooo... they still don't get it?
Was it just a coincidence that its black?
Ok so I had the same problem with my Acer aspire 17 Inch overheating so i repasted the gpu and cpu I also use notebook fan control with a custom fan speed profile and now my idle temp is 35 to 40 degrees centigrade and under max load 85 degrees there is also no more thermal throttling the keyboard still gets hot but it’s manageable but above the keyboard the metal strip can still get hot enough to hurt to the touch.
i dont have the display problem and the laptop is just cool all time, no matter what
Hmm ok it's the 2016 model. Im curious about the 2017 model. But I'm leaning towards my unit being a lemon.
Matthew Moniz I bought one of these 2 weeks ago. Only difference is the CPU on mine being an i5. I have neither overheating nor display issues.
that laptop looks good
GREAT vid Matt
Thanks Hardik! = )
Matthew Moniz welcome as always
nice video! maybe its thermal paste as you said, could you maybe try putting a laptop stand cooler underneath it and measure temps again? this worked great on my laptop, temps dropped by 5-8 degrees celcius on CPU :)
Hey,
Thanks for the review! Just a reminder - you didn't update the info about the overheating.
I did. Theres an entire video on it. You can find it on my channel
Love your review videos :) I recently returned a VX15 because the touch pad was defective :( Great screen, nice hardware, fast, light, ran cool...but quality control issues...come on Acer you can do better than this! I went back to MSI ;)
+Jon nice which MSI model did you get ?
Matthew Moniz I got the MSI GS73VR :-D love it!
I just ordered the new Asus gl702vs. I wonder which one of the two laptop Overheat more
I really like Acer, great value for the money but I get the impression that they don't run the tightest ship when it comes to quality control.
It could be that you got a defective one. And if there's a lot of issues in other units then Acer should fix this asap. I like how cool the VX15 is so hopefully it'll be as cool as that when the issue is fixed.
It's totally possible! YA, the vx15 runs well and the predator runs super cool
Overheating has been an issue since this laptop was launched, make sure to get a cooling pad with it or you'll burn your lap...
I wonder why many people don't recommend to buy 4k gaming laptop. I know that there is no laptop that can run moden games in 4k, but can't l just lower the resolution to fhd? Or it would be too blurred?
there are laptops with gtx 1080m
there are no longer m-versions of gpu. Anyway gtx 1080 can barely run games in 4k.
Денис Ковырков they're just not called "1080m", but the laptop version is still around 10% weaker than desktop version. And a 1080 can run some games in 4K, plus 4K can be useful for video /photo editing not just gaming
I think the 17 have not the problems with overheating.
That is the coolest laptop i have ever seen. And nice voice by the way
Thanks man!
i think the flex on the lcd might be lose if its shutting off when you move it
I have the NITRO 2016 which also becomes hot like crazy. I don't know if it overheats but I can't keep it on my lap after some gaming of GTA5.
got mine "used" for 800, im guessing someone returned it right after buying it because of the overheating. I fixed it by reapplying thermal paste and undervolting the cpu
I was searching Matthew and this laptop an hour ago on Yt. What a coincidence.
ha! That's awesome perfect timing
It has the perfect finish to check for camera moire and aliasing
haha big time..
I have the 2017 version, so far it does get hot but only directly under the monitor, the keyboard is perfectly fine to use. I also have had to monitor issues.
GPU Temps?
Pros and Cons?
Pros, can run almost every game max settings with large fps. Cons, heavy. GPU temps id have to run some tests but def not that hot
Hello. I am interested in this laptop ( the 17 inch model with I7 7700k and geforce gtx 1050ti gpu ) and i would like to know if your cpu gets hot while gaming (95-99 celsius ). Could you please tell me?
cataluttt Buy another laptop
