I don't think it was Bing maps misinterpreting the Great Wall as row housing, I believe that would have been the Blackshark AI. They did an incredible job overall and but there is a world of land marks that will need hand crafted attention to fix.
The first temple like structure at 4:00 is "Temple of Heaven",At 8:30 those buildings are China Zun, China World trade Center and the one you tried to land on is CCTV HQ, the dome like structure at 10:33 on the top right corner is "National Centre for the Performing Arts", 12:01 the stadium is the "Bird Nest" which holds 2008 Olympics.
Yeah, you're right! He should've landed at Tiananmen Square. It's right across The Forbidden City. Beijing's Olympic Park is right beside The Water Cube (Aquatics Center). also juz some noteworthy places in Beijing.
Deanna no need to replay old memories when you and I can make new ones 😏 lol jk. I will be searching for some amateur pilot friends to fly with though when it comes out.
It's only a matter of time before a modder (some teenager on home school) devotes a thousand hours into creating a mod/addon for the great wall of China.
I'm sure people will be making scenery out of boredom for the entire earth for decades to come.. Msfs will be looking extremely sexy here in a couple years.
You should've landed at Tiananmen Square instead. It's right across The Forbidden City. Beijing Olympic Park's Birds Nest is right beside The Water Cube (Aquatics Center). also juz some noteworthy places in Beijing.
Finally someone who didn’t just visit these places , but landed , or tried to land at the sites and check em out , landing at Disney land would be cool
FYI, that football stadium you tried to land on is the Olympic Stadium. I´m surprised you didn´t recognize it by its nest shape. The Beijing Olympic Games were only 12 years ago...
Huge shame that the Great Wall doesn't really exist. I completely understand leaving out details that you won't see unless you fly right over the ground but 2 years ago I still saw the wall flying over it at 15000 ft.
Defiantly. I’m pretty sure everyone has flown over their own house/neighbourhood and though. Hmmm not quite. I have spent hours and yet to find the Great Wall.now I know why. I was suspecting it to be an elevated road or perhaps inverse river? I had a look at niagra falls a couple days ago. Urm I missed it. Just appears as a water slide not a fall at all.
In a nutshell (because it's a very complicated subject), the AI is trained with real world data to understand what is what in the satellite images. Some places have better, higher quality images which makes it easier for the AI to apply what it learned and how it's programmed by the engineers to create 3D data from it. For example, a bad quality picture of a mountain top with minimal details is probably gonna look bad in game because the AI won't recognize the details in the rocks, or the trees, or anything that could be in the image and therefore will produce a worst 3D representation of the thing.
The hitboxes of buildings seem to be pretty basic. So the the building with inclined roof has probably no inclined hitbox, so you should be able to land maybe higher on top where the helicopter landing platform is.
i went to china last year and the amount of detail everywhere especially in the old buildings is insane. Something that this sim probably will never capture. When they get helicopters in it will be much easier to do sightseeing.
Kinda surprising this sim does so badly with roads, considering the one thing X-plane has been able to do well for quite a while now (from v9 or earlier) is autogenerated roads based on OSM data... The autogen scenery such as houses often doesn't look quite right, but the roads are usually where you expect them and at least look like roads, and not just low res textures...

It'll be updated in the $59.99 "Great Wonders" DLC.
Awesome video! I love the fact that you can fly inside the stadium. I really hope they update the hotboxes of those buildings so we could do some landings on them. I know it's not exactly realistic but its a ton of fun, and I think it's going to make for great multiplayer gameplay.
You're such a great adventurer! I appreciate your efforts of experimenting all the possibilities MSFS2020 can give us. Thank you! I hope next time you can visit cities in Japan and The Philippines. 😀
A major plus point for this sim is the sightseeing aspect. This is one of the new seven wonders of the world, a unesco world heritage site and the largest manmade structure. It would be fun to fly a route following it. They could have made a repetitive unit and hand placed it. Not much to ask when they have done a similar processes to make 40k airports.
Was the Great Wall in FSX or previous flight sims? I cannot event remember. It does seem the developers simply ran out of time to include handcrafted landmarks. There's simply too many to include. We see this with the lack of landmarks in London, as well as the lack of the Washington Monument and Capitol building in DC. But it'll only be a matter of time before you see 3rd party developers include landmark addons. Asobo will surely add some themselves over time. At the very least, the overall scenery is already there, so there's a good foundation.
If you turned off damage you could probably land in alot of these places, Seemed like it was glitching out and ending the flight because damage was turned on.
China is not really allowing orbital satellites to "Detail Map " their country....that's why it sucks. My suggestion is to avoid flying in China or Russia
Hey buddy I think you should be making video news about the game. I really miss all the news about the developing and what’s going on with the asobo team!
Don't known what the patch cured but all the glitches I noticed before are still there. Taxi ribbon takes you to weird places, ground persons walk through aircraft as well as ground vehicles, switches still don't work in cockpit,
I am impressed with the stadium stunt. By the way, this is no ordinary football stadium but the Bird's Nest, the Olympic Stadium of 2008. It's a pity that you sink into the ground and then probably won't be able to land with a helicopter in the future too. (For the other nonsense you surely wasted 30 years in a labour camp ...)
How does your 1080 graphics card holding up with the new sim? I have one and I am wondering how decent it will be when I play
4 роки тому
It's quite dependent on the CPU in this game. 1080 seems good though. I've seen videos of it running on a gtx 1660 or 1070 on low/medium and it still looks great but fps is in the 50s.

@@DietCoke88 If you simply must max out all settings then don't buy this game at all because there is no card that can handle that. However... if you curb your expectations, you CAN play this game on a mid range system.
I'd say the airspeed indicator was way off in this plane during this video. It seems it was over-indicating by a mile. The speed increased way too fast after takeoff and continued increasing on the climb-out well into the yellow arc.
Microsoft need to work with the Chinese government to get an accurate satellite image of China than we can see a more fabulous Great Wall of China and many other places. In order to bring the best experience for us as a explorer.
I don't know if that matters. It's still a registered airport. Fairly sure X-plane still includes military airports, and due to the primitive ATC you can land at them without issue...
