One thing that alot of people including this video get wrong about the S Pen is that it doesn't have to be charged to work, the changing is only for the gesture. Also lumafusion will be coming to the Tab S8 line is was announced at the launch event.
Agree with you on this, all these videos finds everything little thing to complain about like the spen doesnt stick to the tablet and falls off when put into a bag, im sure the same thing happens with the apple pencil but that is not mentioned. Comparison seems very one sided, seems like this video is more on the apple side than samsung
@@illusiondee exactly he never mentions alot of things and must do more research. And equally display the review examples such as let's put the iPad in the bag and see if the pencil falls of. And then test the s8 and spen . But no just complains about the s8 and only praises the iPad.

I've noticed that people who are used to iPads have no idea how to use Android to its full potential. You can basically customise every aspect of Android (especially Samsung's One UI) to suit your needs. If you don't like the UI that comes with an Android tablet, you can change it to one you do like ( like Nova Launcher). Don't like the icons? No problem. Want to change or create your own swipe gestures? Easy. Want to create/design your own widgets, home screen layout, keyboard etc ? No problem.
iPads are great when it comes to hardware and apps for sure, there's no denying that. But for the most part, it's just so limiting after you see what android can really do.

Others have stated the spen can be used with out a charge and only uses the battery with Bluetooth features.
Ipad nothing comparable to dex ipads only function as a tablet .
Ipads have very little compatibility with external monitors and for the ones it does it can only screen mirror and will have huge black bars they will take up most of the external monitor and look horrendous.
Ipads have alot of power but due to apple limiting ipad os it cannot be used to its full potential. So when you say ipad has lots of pro apps I'm glad you actually listed some because most people don't. But if I'm doing any video editing then I'm using my MacBook air with the m1 chip

I Just bought the S8, wow more than a tablet is a laptop too. The high-quality construction, great connectivity, level of customization, excellent performance, the ability to switch windows-style interfaces to be used on a larger monitor. I'm sorry for Apple but Samsung has built a masterpiece at a reasonable price.

Most reviewers are content creators. Thus they always chirp about the lack of pro- creative apps. That seems to put S8 at a disadvantage. However, for someone like me who does not use these apps. Samsung is the way to go and for anyone already who uses primarily Windows products, this is a better fit.

@Melius. C same with me. I like the 16:10 ratio for youtube and twitch. It's also better multi tasking in landscape mode, i open Samsung Note at the right side and a pdf file at the left side.
For the apps, you're an ipad user, you have been using ipad for years so you wouldn't know what are there in google store. I'm sure ipad has very clean and good apps. On the other hand, android has clip studio pant, ibispaint, medibang, etc... and other decent note taking apps too. I think ipad UI is very clean and easy to use but the android UI is widely customizable and if you use android long enough you would feel kinda restricted when switching to ipad
exactly but one needs to forget their bias and be open to what they're reviewing. I have an iPad and i try to use it to the way i would prefer and while i'm struggling to find a reason to keep using it other than for streaming..my s8 tab , i use it constantly more..

This so-called review is pretty typical of those whereby a worldly life-time Apple user ventures out bravely into the unknown, purchasing with his own money, an enemy tablet and pondering the question - “... is it better than my iPad? ...”
These types of videos are becoming rather trite, as well as somewhat tiresome, and really are 99% of the time as predictable as the Earth’s rotation. We know how this experiment will be conducted, and how the age-old question will eventually, after rigorous analysis, be answered. We also know that the device in question, having been purchased “with the reviewers own money “, will be studied in its rudimentary form for a few days, then be returned the next day or week, courtesy of reigning return policy. This more often than not leads to a half-baked cursory knowledge of the device and it fails to discover its true capabilities. These types of sham reviews are generally a waste of time for one party, and a psychological feel-good boost for the other.
This reviewer has undoubtedly laid out some good positive points about the Tab S8, as failure to do so would render the review absolutely useless. However, nearly every positive is immediately countered by an even more positive for the magnificent all-conquering iPad. Let’s face it. Most Apple users are never going to admit that a Samsung product can be superior to anything from Apple. It’s just the nature of the beast. I own iPads as well as Galaxy Tablets, and happen to think that iPads are really great in what they can do. But, in my opinion, they have been surpassed by premium Galaxy Tabs some years ago.
In any comparison of Tabs with iPads, revewers always reach for the lowest common denominator. The age-old chestnuts of processing power and professional apps are an inevitable weapons in the Apple arsenal. No one argues that iPads have amazingly faster chips than Samsung, or that a few professional apps are not available on the Google or Samsung store. This being a given, it behoves true reviewers to compare functionality and features apart from iPads’ fore-mentioned strengths, considering that most users will never need professional apps ever in their computing experience . This is what this reviewer, as well as hundreds of others, fail to do. They do not spend enough time to learn about the device they are reviewing, and consequently produce a half-arsed comparison, making ridiculously stupid assumptions and leaving out fundamentally important and pertinent facts.
Leaving aside small details like SD card support, far superior file handling, way superior multi-tasking, true external monitor connectivity, Samsung DEX - some of which received cursory, but reluctant, treatment by the reviewer - the biggest trump card in the Galaxy line-up is S-PEN!
The S-pen is a true marvel of technology. It is the S-pen that makes Samsung’s S tablets the excellent devices they are. By comparison, Apple’s Pencil, is an over-priced piece of junk that has to be purchased separately. The Apple Pencil has been around for over 5 years and has had little, if any, development, Apple being satisfied that users of the pencil are so enamoured by it that no future changes are necessary. This reviewer cites its ivory-like appearance and its leaded weight as features that make it more attractive and less of a stylus, the term he applies with glee to Samsun’s S-pen. It is demonstrated in the video that the Apple Pencil is pretty-much useless as a navigation tool. The two main functions that it’s good at are writing and drawing - that’s it!
The Tab S8 S-pen, on the other hand, is full to the plimsoll with useful and amazing features. Leaving aside the remote and gestures features, the S-pen has been designed around a suite of features that helps the user get the most out of their tablet experience. Most reviewers, including this one, omit features like Airview and Air Command completely, let alone describe any of them in detail. All they are interested in delving into is the writing and drawing experience. S-pens NEVER need charging, a point that seems to have escaped the reviewer. It only ever needs charging in order to use the Bluetooth functions of remote control and gestures. As far as other functions like navigation; selecting; interpreting words or paragraphs; clipping text and images; snapping an whole web page with scrolling; glancing at web pages while taking notes; previewing images, hyper-text links and videos etc., it does all this without a single charge. In addition, all S-pens are compatible with every S device or Note phone, regardless of age, colour, size, or shape of the pen. Apple forces consumers to buy a new, more expensive model, with an upgraded iPad. Now they introduce features that only work with M1 powered iPads. The bottom line is forever in plain view.
In conclusion, if one wants to review a certain product, a lot of research and hands-on practice is vital, in order to give prospective buyers sound advice, rather than slanted, biased opinions, virtually forcing them in a particular direction. This should not be regarded as acceptable practice.
I have an iPad pro M1 rn. After reading all this shit. I’m swapping to Tab S8. Bye iPad. I love hentai games too but most mobile/tablet supported games are android kekw, so I have to drop iPad ig despite already having a windows pc to play those games, but why not have the option available. I purchased every professional apps on iPad just to fkin not use any single one of em at all HAHAHAHA money wasted af, but all goods ima just move on to Samsung so it can be a 2nd monitor for my pc as well since I dont own a MacBook and I dont see any reason why to cuz I dont do any of the professional work at all. So windows is the go to for gaming so why not pair it with samsung. I was thinking for so long whether to drop this ipad but ur comment made me decide that YES I AM SWITCHING. Thanks bro

I always find myself searching every few weeks for comparison vids to watch and read the comments on using my absolutely amazing s7 plus, and here, this comment sums up my thoughts completely. OP is correct. I have both ipad pro m1 12.9, samsung tab s8+ and ipad mini. Most of the time I am using s8+ for media consumption, note taking, signing documents, file management. The spen not only free but full of features and like the OP said most of the default usage doesn't need battery. s8+ is just much better. The only reason I will be using ipad pro is if I am doing video editing but most of the time I'll just use my Mac book pro for that.
For reading though I wont suggest using tab s8+ and ipad pro. They are both huge and heavy. I am using ipad mini for reading.
@@pj3959 I have the same setup. I also have both ipad pro and tab s8+ and I am using tab s8+ most of the time. But for reading I am using my ipad air.
What an awesome comment, sums up how I feel about these reviews and wasting my time desperately trying to find an objective one that disclosures all differences to help me decide what's better for me. I guess I'll just stick to Android as I've never used Apple products before.

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 and Tab S8. One thing you should have compared is the on screen keyboards. The Samsung keyboard is far out better than the IPad keyboard. It can keep multiple items in the clipboard, better handwriting to text conversion that works in every app, Apple’s Scribble is next to useless, also it has Grammarly built into the keyboard so it offers basic punctuation and grammar correction (and you can upgrade to the full version too), and it has swipe typing as well on the full size keyboard not just the mini keyboard version.

@Reeha I think the handwriting to text recognition is better on the Samsung but drawing is probably better on the iPad because of programs like ProCreate and others. It is a hard choice because there are benefits from both. What are you going to most of?
@Lords _7mzawii - If you get a tablet, buy the Samsung galaxy tab s8 plus. It's a great tablet. It has a lot of functionality and features like dex mode and a s- pen. I love mine. I think it would serve you well. It's just my opinion though.

9:27 if you don't like those small black bars on the side wait till you try your iPad and connect it to a external monitor not only is ipads not compatible with most monitors but they have huge black bars and they can only screen mirror. I wonder why you never mentioned that?
You get the black bars because you are mirroring the tab... if you don't mirror it, it adapts to the display size

Yeah facts. I compared my dads S8 to my iPad pro m1. The s8 has better speakers lmao. So fkin noticable. And if s8 beats ipad pro, why tf wouldnt it beat ipad air unless air has better speakers than pro which I doubt it haha
I have the ipad air m1 and a tab s8+. When I need to use my tablet like a laptop, I much prefer the tab s8+. Samsung dex is awesome, the multi-tasking is really great. The ipad's interface is just not for me as a computer. However I do love my ipad as a tablet. I am excited to see what its like after the ipad os 16 update.

the s pen charging at the back was a structural design decision. ipads are structurally weak horizontally because of the hole in the metal chassis to make room to charge the apple pencil.
You don’t need the spen to be charged to use it you just lose some features you usually don’t use anyway. The Apple Pencil is useless unless charged. I’ll deal with the small inconvenience of the spen you speak of compared to the Apple Pencil.

I've always thought any productivity applications would be better used on a desktop or laptop as opposed to an iPad. The only productivity I would ever do on a tablet would be some sort of digital art. I know that not everyone has a powerful desktop but in my case, I only need a tablet for entertainment, reading, and digitally signing documents
Right. No serious video editing is done on tablets. Primary usecase is content consumption. Basically watching videos, which Samsung is better at because of the better screen: oled + 16:10

Ipad, cant add storage, cant run third party apps, cant install or run anything unless its from the app store i mean do a proper review and dont miss out things that are so limiting on the apple ecosystem.

Was lucky enough to snag the 256gb s8 plus on the secondary market for 600 CDN. Im quite happy with it.
For most people these are out and out content consumption devices. With that in mind, the s8 and even the newer s9 series have the SD card slot. This is a must.
Expanding to 512 gigs is very cheap.
I had an iPad for 2 months once and actually gave it away. Apple may be for some but not for me. I have had a Samsung Tab S4 for a few years and I have never ever taken a photo with that tablet. I get the S8 Plus tomorrow. With Samsung notes I have made some custom meeting templates that work well in my work environment but other than that I prefer OneNote. I cannot understand your comments about your note taking app? If it is only available to Apple then us android users don't know about it, don't want it and don't care! OneNote crosses all devices, making it the far more compatible.

An amazing review honestly. I was stuck between the two and I think I'm gonna go with the s8. It's a little bit cheaper, not to mention the s pen comes with it. and the main thing I really need it for is just to to take notes. I also have an s22, so getting an android tablet would make more sense.

Before watching this video, I am going to assume the video will end with the iPad is better because that's usually how these type of Apple user thing goes..Will edit after 11:34 for confirmation.
VERDICT:
Mostly a fair review so i'm surprised there. Ok for dex mode, you need to go to settings> advanced features > samsung dex > and enable "Auto Start when HDMI is connected"...this would give you two screens essentially, one is samsung dex and the other the tablet one...otherwise, it will just mirror the screen to the tablet aspect ratio...hence why the black bars.
Also , of note, Luma fusion is coming to Android; the only question is when? that, you got to get on with the devs...I have both the iPad Air M1 and s8 tab. Personally, I prefer the Android , the ad blockers actually work the way i expect it to and if you get Kiwi Browser, it allows Chrome Extensions, albeit not all of it work elegantly.
The issue with notability and apps like such is the reason why I always go for a multiplatform type app rather than an exclusive one...also, for video editing, Power Director isn't bad, it's not luma fusion but it's not bad for the Android side of things. It would be nice to see more productivity apps updated on Android side or at least, have competition that is really good.
As a tablet, i think iPad is what it is but for a pseudo-PC/tablet, I think the S8 tab wins...but if you're stuck on an exclusive app, either you try to find alternatives or stick to what you have.

@@pubgshorts4555 for me, it's the s8 tab but if you're into something a lot more "simple", a lack of a better word, the iPad. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I would say I'm quite surprised by how Samsung did things despite google not giving a damn about tablets until recently
@@pubgshorts4555 i would say Samsung products tend to be quite good quality for a slightly lower price than apple ones are. An other good thing about samsung is the amount of things you can have without really paying the company (ie using free note taking apps like OneNote that syncs on any device , or if you are a student Anki is free on android as opposite to apple , for example). I think you can also expand your tablet's memory with an SD card , which you can't do on apple devices without paying for their subscription

Actually the 11 inch ipad only has a 3:2 aspect ratio which is closer to 16:10 compared to the 12.9 inch ipad which has a 4:3 aspect ratio
I just ordered a brand new S8 for €500. Black Week deal. I was interested in getting iPad Air M1 or Ipad Pro 11 M1, but Air is €300 more and Pro 11 twice as much. Make is a no brainer.
But I can say one thing, iPad Mini 6 blows everything above 7" and below 11" out of the water. Just saying :-)

Google need to do more work on a tablet version of Android and encourage developers. Samsung's DeX is a band aid for Google's failings.

I own a Galaxy S22 Ultra and an iPad Mini 6. Sometimes, i feel like I should have gone to the Samsung tablet route to experience the galaxy ecosystem. However, in this video, it seems like you also use Google services to sync your files. Do you think it's okay to have a diversified setup such as a Samsung phone and iPad as a tablet?
Its kinda the same with me but i have an iphone 13 and a tab s8 as a tablet (could’ve bought the ipad air 5 but the s8 is better in literally every thing ) i see no problem in having a mixed setup as long as you’re happy with ur choices i have an iphone as a personal phone a samsung as a tab for uni and a Huawei GT watch .

I don't get how people would say Ipad OS is ahead of Android. I bought a iPad 9 2021 two years ago. Apps like Brave do not work as expected sometimes. File manager is very bad! I have to find my VPN app to disconnect it instead of just having link to it on the top. The only thing that iPads have which Android tablets used to suffer from was the rapid aging of hardware vs software. iPad 9 has Iphone 11's cpu which is ridiculous but it still runs ok.

@@luisvaldivia6898 I use my iPad for business and streaming. I use my Tab S8+ mostly for streaming and entertainment. I feel that the iPad Pro is in a different league of its own when it comes to business. I really like them both 😊

Ipad lasts more than 7 years. Does samsung last this long? Most of the expensive android devices start pissing after 4 to 5 years. Apple is restrictive that's why they last more unlike samsung. The minimalistic features with strong M1 chip keeps the ipad strong for decades. Writing from my 2017 Ipad. It's been 6 years without a single lag.
@@souravsingha1363most samsungs can last at ~10 years. They're not as flimsy or poorly built as Apple products.

The thing is, I love ipads BUT you can emulate on samsung tablets and also, Dex is amazing for when you don’t have your laptop… that’s why I own 2 tablets lol
so as a long time ipad user and someone that switched to the galaxy tab a few years ago my stance is that they are both pretty good. Only thing i really miss from the ipad are the 3 finger gestures that would let me switch app or go to home. While everyone talks about the ipad having more power user apps it never really applied to me since my tablet was just a recreational device, in fact the galaxy has much better manga reading apps (my main use of tablets)

For me, it was a biased review I have ever seen. You are more compatible with apple ecosystem. You are fond of apple. So, you weren’t a neutral person to review or to compare.

Hey Jeremy, I really like both the 11 and 12.9" options! But my current pick would be the 11" because of its portability (I still do most of my intense work on my 14" MBP.) Honestly the micro SD card slot alone should turn way more people to apple than it does. My 128gb on iPad fills up in 30 minutes these days. $30 I get high speed storage that you can’t even tell the difference between internal.. want an extra 250gb on iPad? No worries that’s only $300 more.
They both have their pros and cons to both. I’d use apple if their prices and storage weren’t such a rip off. Samsung in mid tier is far superior than standard ipad and controller support actually works so Apple not as good for gaming. But their app support is one of the few features that really makes a difference

My wife has an ipad with an apple pencil while I have an s8 plus with the s pen and the s pen wins for me easily as the apple pencil feels like I'm scraping plastic on a glass screen (duh) but the s pen has a rubber like tip that creates a very light amount of friction which makes it feel much more like an actual pencil.
Should I buy Samsung s8 instead of iPad then ; keeping in mind that i am going to use it exclusively for note taking ?
What is your overall experience with Samsung. I feel ipad is over budget for me as Samsung ' s 128 gb is cheaper then ipad. Plus their are no charges for spen.
@@aayushisharma8875 I know the iPad has some apps that some people really like for note taking that aren't available on android but personally I've enjoyed using the tab s8+ far more. The apple pencil is $100+ and the iPad doesn't have a 120hz screen unless you opt for a much more expensive option. The s pen is cheap to replace too and samsung care is only $5 a month

The s pen is the one who should be better but isnt. Reasons why it isnt: the diameter and weight of the s pen makes it feel cheaper and more fragile. The tip is actually fragile. So it can break. The worser part of this is that samsung doesnt include the tips in the box and dont sell it officially.

I think you don't know what you are talking about. The plastic tip in all S-pes is simply a short, wire-like piece of plastic with a small knob at one end. It has the strength of a short piece of plastic. I have dozens of replacent tips, but have NEVER had a need to replace a tip on any of my 20+ S-pens, which I have been using since the first Note phone in 2011 and first S-pen capable tablet shortly thereafter.

i have tab s7 and am currently using an ipad just to test it out and MY GOD! the ipad feels so perfect in my hands, i wish samsung would make a tablet that actually feels good to hold.
My tab s4 was amazing to hold. Once they switched to 90deg. angled bezels the experience is much much worse til you get used to it.

Move from either operating system to the other and you're going to miss apos you're used to.
Never owned an apple product but I want an iPad 10th gen because of a few reasons, battery life, 4:3 aspect ratio, smoothness and because the price has come down a lot I will use it in work to watch videos and nothing more the only app I'll need is just a browser.
And any android tablet has way more functionality than apple's but I'll be good with the bare basics

1. Ipad air sound better than s8 ? 😀 nonsense. Even in theory ist not possible, since ipad air has 2 speakers, s8- 4. So no.
2. Spen doesn't need to be charged to work, so you can leave it on side as much as you wanted. Charging needed only for Bluetooth gestures.
Since I'm using s series tablet and ipad pro 12.9 pretty much daily, I have to admit, that in most cases samsung is better. Better software, better windows management ( it support floating window in tablet mode as well), spen integration is miles ahead compared to Apple ✏️. Regarding the apps, not really true, there is painter which is batter than procreate for most users , lumafusion always seemed like operated app, since there are a quite good free tools as vn for simple editing "on the go". Seriously video editing on tabled is a pain, so non of them will change laptop.
Overall is you can choose only, samsung is better.( and sorry I'm comparing ipad pro, not a air, with a poor display, and huge bezels,)
I'm pretty sure ipad air has 4 speakers and tab s6 kite has 2 speakers as well, still sounds better than tab A8 with 4

I'm actually excited for the Android 12L to be available on my tablet (if it will that is), i saw the taskbar options, pretty sweet but with that, why would i need samsung dex once it's there. I use infinite painter too. I've tested procreate a bit on a test unit before but not long enough to have a concrete opinion so I will say, it looks good . i agree with the video editing stuff, it's sitll better to do it on a PC/mac than on the tablet, for now.
i mainly use my iPad Air M1 for watching netflix now...glad i got it very cheap with coupons. Otherwise, i'll have buyer's remorse now. Would be nice to get the full power of the M1..thinking of jailbreaking if it's available but i'm trying not to, since it's still under warranty.
