I would point out for artists, Clip Studio Paint is fantastic, personally, as someone who grew up loving Adobe Photoshop, I find CSP to have every aspect of PS but they have really added to it to create software that i think is better than Photoshop. So, don't discount Samsung tablets entirely as being unfriendly to artists.

I'm not a power user so I'm seriously considering getting either an S8+ or S9+ but leaning towards the S8+. Chargers and keyboards are quite cheap so no need to spend $400 on a keyboard. Good review.

how is it so far? the 4gb ram is really a bummer for me. i am aware of the ram plus but that doesnt seem to be helping much it seems as my couple day old tablet suddenly crashed when i opened telegram. (fyi i only had maybe 5 or 6 non intensive app on background)
I have the S8+ but I also have the S7 FE, and honestly the FE performs like a flagship, it's an exceptional tablet

Oh this was very helpful. I am finally taking the plunge to a tablet. I have a laptop meant for some heavy task. But as a daily traveler, she's just heavy and poor battery life. (Totally okay, she was meant to do other task on the go and kicks.. butt!) I've been looking for reviews after some use. So I appreciate your year of rough use. I appreciate you telling the difference between the tablets, functionality, etc. Often, people just want to oversell and that's something I don't need because I have a computer for that.

I should have traded my s7+ in when preorders for s8+ were live and the difference was only like $149. Anyway, I've been using the s7+ for two years now and it's still a great tablet today.
I made a comparison between the 2 last year and was hard pressed to justify the premium price tag on the s8 plus at the time, with prices much lower now though it makes more sense.

I'm moving from an ipad Pro 11' to this tablet. It would be really helpful i you can show us a comparison between Notability and Samsung Notes. I will mostly use it for taking notes in engineering class. I already have the S23U. New subscriber bay the way :)

@yulia-8115 I actually bought the TAB S9 ULTRA. It works neat with my Samsung Phone, a real ecosystem. For note taking is great, I got a free year Notability just by downloading. The S Pent is really good, also is "free". I do miss the double tap of the Apple Pencil 2.
Guys don't worry about the nibs, I used the tab s6 lite (currently daily driving a tab s7 fe) for 3 years for university to take handwritten notes, and my parents keep using it without ever changing the nib, so... it's quite resistant!

Thank you for the review. So... I just purchased the 'S8 Plus Tablet' through Samsung. It should be arriving soon. I am super excited as this is my first tablet! 🙂 More importantly, while watching your review... You said that there is no charging cables that come with the tablet? As in I must purchase this separately to be able to recharge the tablet????

Also regarding the glitches, check the possibilities of goodlock modules. You'll surprised.. so you can easily run several apps simultaneously without any issues...
Where do you get your themes, since Galaxy Themes isn't available on tablet.

I used it as a pc replacement to write a uni project and i never needed more horsepower out of it. My setup was tablet+ Bluetooth keyboard and mouse . The screen is too small and most importantly some stuff dont univesaly work across the tablet like in windows. Most noticeable copy pasting stuff with my set up was a huge pain. It cant replace a computer but if at the end of your day ypu have access to one you can do the rest of your work while you are not at home at the tablet

I paid $570, just 8 months later. I got the s22+, watch 4, buds2 pro, tab s8+ for the same price as a iphone 14 pro max lol.

I had the charging cable (USB type C) in the box. No charging brick though, but I use the cable and brick from my Samsung phone anyway.
Do you have thoughts about reading pdf books on the Samsung? Can you take notes and highlights on the pdf?
Hey man, how do you use Notion with Samsung notes? Is there some kind of shortcut function on notion? Do you have any productivity workflow video?
I use them for different purposes but there isn't a seamless connection there - it's pretty much exporting the PDF file of Samsung notes to a page on notion. When done with something like apple notes it SERIOUSLY lowers the quality of the notes so they actually appear blurry. Instead currently for my iPad pro I have a notability subscription, which I don't need for my Samsung tablet.
Hi I am looking into buying this and I can't seem to figure out if it does slow motion video or not
I ordered the S8+ for drawing and every time I watch a review, they shred it apart when compared with iPad pro... I'm bummed, but all my other devices are windows and android and I can't deal with the new ecosystem of apple OS and incompatibility... I've had an iphone for a while before and on my god I could not deal with the file management and lack of functions.
The thing I like a lot on the S8+ though, is exactly the elongated screen, which is very comfortable when using a program with panel settings, there is basically no reduced workspace!

@Dragomegaman I don't know too much, because I wasn't using it for a long time, but in short it makes more sence to buy in the same ecosystem you already have, because the features and options are functioning well together and are made with that in mind. I had to use iTunes to transfer anything back and forth from iPhone e to Windows PC, and sometimes it didn't even let me. You can't use air drop to windows PC, so you can't send anything quick, you have to USB connect, get an app then manage, or send through cloud storage, websites and so on.
Another thing about storage, I don't really use cloud storage, with some exceptions, I prefer not to pay for extra storage and like to be able to use an SD card. I've also been hacked a few times so I take care to have everything valuable in a physical copy as well.
Multitasking is a thing I find very useful that iPad doesn't have.
On Android you can also I install apk... I simply can't afford to pay a subscription to every single app I use, at least not at the moment. I'm not sure if you can do that on ios.
Also, I prefer the interface and logic of Samsung products better. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up with windows and andriod, but everything is more natural and intuitive to me.
Buuuuut, I do agree that app optimisation is better on the iPad, and a lot of software caters more to Apple.
I think it boils down to what you already have, how it will work together, what will you use the tablet for with which applications. Both are great I think.
I've been using my s8+ for a little over a week now and I can say I'm more than satisfied. Btw I'm an architect and I use it for lighter drafting, sketching, file editing, managing, and so on.

I am guessing you draw on Clip Studio Paint. If so, you chose perfectly. I have an iPad Air 4, I draw on Procreate, so it works for me. However, if I were to switch to CSP, I would also switch to Samsung. I am an android phone + windows laptop user.
@Mauro Renard Yeah, I use Clip Studio, as well as a bit of Autocad and Concepts and some other similar apps. 😁 All pretty good so far!

I bought a s8 plus with keyboard case and 2 Samsung cases with pen and charger for $475. Hopefully that is a good price in these current times. Is it? Can anyone chime in? I’m hopeful I can trade it in for the Tab s9 ultra when it comes out. Everything else I have is Apple. So it’s nice to have both OS and honestly for tablet use the micro SD card slot is a must have and kills all the iPads regardless of how fast they are, especially when it comes to portable media consumption which is what most people use these tablets for.

В моем случае хотела диагональ среднюю между моделями tab s8, что бы носить с собой и в случае чего , например быть на лекции в кафе ,где места на столе мало, все равно не хватило бы денег на ultra версию ,а также комфортное использование оригинального чехла клавиатуры для tab s8 plus ,ну и работать с ним в долгосрочной перспективе :)

i bought this tab to replace my ipad pro for gaming. the problem is developers doesnt really optimized their games on this device. no way this has high ping every 5 seconds on 600mbps wifi

I myself a med student been using my galaxy s7 since 2020 till now I have had no issue taking notes and for ebooks, if u ask me I'd go with s8 plus the problem with iPad u won't get a pencil with iPad u have to spend extra 11k inr or 250Usd u'll get a free spen with galaxy tab series... plus as per me taking notes in Samsung note is way better compared to iPad....taking notes in iPad is kinda complicated also in iPad since u r student u'd know abt wps ...wps often freezes I experienced it with my sister's iPad during Slideshare .....you can also add storage upto 1tb in galaxy tablet compared to iPad's limited storage more storage more price.....with Dex u can change ur tab to a pc I'd suggest u go with Samsung though u'll get 4 years software and 5 year security updates compared to iPad its less but u'll be more productive with it I guess 😉 😅
I'd say go with the iPad, coming from a user who dabbles in both, iOS and Android, you're gonna have a far better experience with an iPad, there is no way you should pay this much for an Android tablet on Gods green Earth.
The iPad will EASILY last you for 5 years.

@AJ i guess you are one of those who have not actually used a samsung tab s series since you used the word Andriod. I use the ipad Pro and tab s8 series, They are equally very good with user getting more value from samsung with the free S Pen and amazing productivity features that my ipad pack. Ipad has more variety for apps, but there is a Play Store app that matches the top ipad apps but is cheaper to purchase. You need to call andriod devices by their manufacturers because they are not the same quality.
The Ipad and samsung tab s8 series are equally very good. I think you should choose based on other devices you have, eg, do you use an iPhone or samsung phone. Eco system is important once you start adding tablets because an iPhone does not want to communicate with other devices. I prefer how i use my samsung devices because they dont lock you down. I can add another andriod device and still communicate with baseline google andriod features common with all of them like nearby share, messgaes split screen, etc. Ipad gives you up to 5 to 6 yrs software update, and samsung give you 4 to 5 years. Ipad is still catching up with productivity features because they are slow to release them, so in the past 5 years, my samsung tab still has more features than my ipad.
FYI - There is a persistent clock at the top... why the widget?

Everything works regardless of being used or not. The trackpad, even though less quick than directly touching the screen, could sometimes provide convenience by not having to move your hand at all.

Honestly, I try to understand why ppl wouldnt go to a book 360, instead of a tablet. You have more possibilities with the notebook, with the same size and similar price. The tablet case being wrecked in a year is a turn down, because it is expensive. I dont know why samsung makes so bad cases, my S22 ultra had this impact case from Samsung which is slim and beautiful but not resistant at all...

I use the s7+ keyboard case instead. It has the trackpad, and it covers the pen....oh, and you can separate the keyboard from the kickstand.

the tab s9 should have better speakers than the ipad amnd oveclock the new 8 gen 2 plus which qualcomm will release and make a new better keyboard case for it. then it would be better the processor and power shouldnt be same as the s23 ultra it should be more hence it would be sense in using such a bug screen with power

It holds - the new S8 plus price tag was far too high to justify the jump from almost half price s7+, over a year however the price has gone down considerably as it does for most android tablets.

Why would you keep anything in mind regarding a case with a crappy keyboard attached? The benefit of a tablet over a laptop is that you aren't tied to a keyboard that, at best, can never be more than merely adequate to the task. Instead, you can either lose it completely, or take the space you saved and get a portable mechanical keyboard. Any review talking about a tablet whose first order of business is to immediately turn it into a laptop has missed the plot.
Yeah there are a ton of great Bluetooth keyboards and trackpads.

I think i understand why despite 60,000 views, you have so few likes. Its must be because of how you inserted the sponsor, I was enjoying your review and you were happy with the tablet including how light it was and the pen and only really have an issue with the case and you sounded like you had rounded it up and asking for likes and subscribers and then you ran the sponsor. I was thinking, Well, ok, its over, short video but ok short and to the point. So, while I'm thinking this while vaguely paying attention to the product, ok not really interested, this is really going on a Long time. So, I move the mouse to go back and find another review only to notice that its only part way into the video, I watched 3 minutes of review then you insert 3 extraordinarily Long 3 minutes of sponsor. Official Samsung cases are useless. They provide zero drop protection. As someone who uses tablets on treadmills and elliptical machines, I would never use an official Samsung case.

A solid device, and although behind the iPad Pro, it is cheaper and aimed more at media consumption than pro usage, as with the iPad (DaVinci, Procreate, music software, etc.).
Not sold on DeX as it boils down to being just a windowed UI for familiarity with Windows machines. It still only runs Android when all is said and done. That makes it more like a desktop, but I buy a tablet for simplicity, not a wannabe desktop UI. Even MS with W11 moved towards a tablet UI, apparently some people are stuck in their ways with Windows and cannot escape its clutches. I prefer one app at a time, especially on smaller tablets (
The tablet + keyboard case is not lap friendly, I can't say this without sounding like a typical Apple loving douche, the magic keybord seems like a wonderful accessory to own, atleast to me, I can lie down flat, put it on my stomach, and still have a nice viewing experience. This inplementation is not done well imho.
Also, Android tablets (especially the S8 ultra is really not worth the asking price. In my experience, they're good for 2, maybe 3 years tops. Otherwise, well done video.
i'm hoping that a 3rd party will come up with something like the more robust floating keyboard case of the ipad pro.
Does the samsung tab s8+ work with apples "floating magic keyvoard"?? Becuase i just assuemd it would work considering the keyboard itself just requires bluetooth connection for any device that has Bluetooth.
