TSR easy? WTF MK is easy CTR and TSR are challenging. TSR I'd actually not too far off from CTR on higher difficulties. MK is unbelievably easy. Just the luck of the draw is a bigger factor. I'm a Kart racing fanatic and I definitely had to master the Team mech to beat everything on hardest difficulties. While Online I've won most races, even winning the one race I joined at the end of a sega stream, it's a game that is near impossible if you don't play by it's rules. If anything they removed rubberbanding. Atleast I didn't notice it. The original game definitely had rubberbanding but not this one and if it does they definitely toned it down to the point where it's almost unnoticeable.
The difficulty level in the Original CTR makes it very challenging, and I know that the Nitro-Fueled version you can select your preferred difficulty in the adventure mode & in Arcade mode too! I love the challenge trust me, but at times there can be a obstacle you can't master just yet, unless you practice more & you can get into the flow of the game.
I have a switch and MK8 and have no interest in going back to that game. MK for me has always been a generic kart racer and I've liked alot over the iterations of the times they released. CTR, and DKR were my favs and then games like MNR and Sonic Transformed were better than MK for me. MK is just a safe bet for a fun game anyone can play. But the others are alot more entertaining and unique for me. Making them alot more enjoyable.
Jake Play an online race in Mario Kart 8 and wait at the starting line for 10 seconds. The game will actively try to force your placement up with horribly over powered items. Do the same thing with CTR and you will lose, unless you’re more skilled than the person ahead of you. There is rubber banding, but it’s not nearly as unfair or pronounced as Mario Kart’s.
The “rubber banding” that this clueless “reviewer” mentions does not exist. I’ve outraced all the bosses by half a track on medium difficulty. Just git gud. They should’ve had someone who actually knows how to play to review the game.
Games don’t start at 10 and lose points with every flaw, they start at 0 and are judged based on their pros and cons. An 8 is still a great game, don’t get it twisted. It’s just not a game without hiccups nor is it an amazing, fresh experience to earn a 9.
Been playing it since release and I agree with IGN's score. The difficulty in this game is insane! Even on medium difficulty. I'm restarted story mode races a lot because I always end up losing in 5th or 4th place. Sometimes 3rd. I've been getting so lucky in the boss races. I can't imagine how hard it would be on hard more. The CPUs always end up passing me even though I'm power sliding and boosting perfectly. They should tone down the CPUs man lol they crazy. I've raged so hard already.
“But I often found myself just explaining how to play” is the weirdest complaint I’ve ever heard it’s basically ugh my friends were bad and that’s the games fault
There is no rubber banding. The only racers that are any trouble in adventure mode are the bosses, and as long as you can stay ahead of them (which really isn't that hard since, again, there is no rubber banding) the races aren't that bad. The only truly difficult races are Pinstripe and Oxide. Pinstripe for his constantly hucking bombs at you on a track with basically no guardrails and Oxide because he spams Red Beakers (which spin you out and slow you down for a few seconds) at you two at a time for more or less the whole second half of the track so if you don't pass him early on it can be nearly impossible to get by him. Also, a couple of the ctr token races and relic races can be pretty difficult but practice makes perfect.

To most of the complainers: this game isn't only aimed to the ones who played the original game. I've never played CTR, and I'm really looking forward to trying it since it's deemed more similar to Diddy Kong Racing and to me it was more enjoyable than Mario Kart 64 mainly due to its adventure mode. If the game feels cheap in its difficulty, it's valid to complain about it and it's not a requirement to have played the original to being able to enjoy this remake.
Viral Sigma Eehhh. I’d argue the remake isn’t as player friendly as the original. Beenox just seems to assume you know things like “sacred fire” and “ultra sacred fire”. If you’re not constantly drifting on higher difficulties, you’re going to suffer for it.
You're absolutely right sir. Compared to the original one, the only thing that makes me enjoy this game is online play. I'd still pick the classic over the new one any time of the day.
THIS was the one and only issue I had outside the weird invisible walls at certain parts. I hated that your hit box was bigger than your kart but the crystal hit boxes are an absolute troll. You don't get by getting really close. You don't get for touching it. You get basically for the crystal making contact with the character and ignores the kart. It was actually annoying to complete all the crystal challenges
I know it's not okay to lower the score for a game because of difficulty. But if the difficulty is fake (like what happened at 3:35 and 3:46), then it deserves to be lowered for that. That never happened in the original when I played. Time for the crusade to kill me now.
After watching this twice; and reconsidering my thoughts. I've came with the conclution this is a meme review on purpose for the laughs. They cannot be this misleading; spreading false information and complaining about something without even trying it; right? it's only a joke you guys.... only a joke.
i played the original when it came out. THE CPU in this game is really ridiculous, especially when you hit opponents and then somehow that same person pass you a second later with no power ups or anything, including the karts or characters who suppose to be slower than you. They really have to tweak that. And the karts feel slower than the original, it's noticeable during the relic races. I rather play the original over this for now.... until they tweak something up. I guess they did this because of all the free content for the game which is really unusual for publishers like Activision. lol
1:14 - 1:19 "And, believe me, this kart racer is wicked fast, significantly faster than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe." *plays slowest clip of gameplay from this review yet*
I have a question. When playing 2 player single race, changing controls from standard to alternative, only changes one controller. We tried everything to get both controllers on the one page, but no luck. Using 2 wireless controllers and have tried changing player 1 and player 2 around, still only 1st controller accepts changes. Any suggestions?
This game is incredible, it FEELS amazing to play and looks wonderful and so much fun content, they did have an amazing job of remaking it but not losing what made it special to begin with!
Comments from a new to the game player. In boss races you can easily win with a full lap to spare, if you know all the shortcuts and slide properly! What makes this game unique is that there is room to IMPROVE and IMPROVE and IMPROVE, and it is noticeable
My only problem is with the online find myself constantly dropping out of races. The items are kind of backwards? I would get beakers and TNT crates I’m dead last, but get catch up items in first place.
The way she complains about Difficulty you know she probably only plays 50cc with Yoshi in Mario Kart. Cause apparently racing games aren't suppose to be difficult or encourage a play better competitive scene.

Team sonic racing got an 8.5 as well.....
Bruh Sonic is better imo ;)

Crash Team Racing: Challenging
Mario Kart: Moderate
Team Sonic Racing: Easy
Tsr is not easy
Outkast Gamer okay I get tsr seems simple but it can get difficult when you don't cooperate friends...don't get me started on the cpus
MK, luck is the only thing that beats me. CTR, I'm actually top tier and am one of the ppl who don't let ppl finish lol. But I sometimes get stiff competition on the top end.

Ps well more coco cuz she’s my favourite character
Mine too! I hope you liked seeing her for most of this video. I had to switch to Cortex because he had more balanced stats and it helped with certain tracks.
Crash is like the mario kart ripoff with half the framerate. Crash is an average franchise at best.
If Mario kart didn't exist and wasn't as successful as it is today games like this wouldn't exist. Mario kart will always be the king of kart racing games.
I’m gonna make a super crazy statement here so watch out!
I think both CTR and Mario Kart are amazing racing games.

aazo5 true, both are fun. I just prefer ctr because of the characters. I grew up playing both games but crash, cortex and other crazy characters somehow were more appealing to me:-)
Sonic r is a mastapacee
Bosses are not rubber banded plus there's a difficulty option. And it's laughable that when she's talking about how fast the game is and the power sliding mechanics the footage shows her driving like a snail. This is the kind of reviews that make IGN a joke.
Honestly if I had a choice between Mario kart 8 deluxe and this game I would chose CTR in a heartbeat.

Congrats you're in the minority
I’d take whatever’s available, but I say Mario Kart is better for extended sessions. I did NOT miss snaking.
I watched this review twice just in case I missed something but your complaint is literally that it's too difficult lol. Also just because Mario Kart came out first doesn't mean it was better. CTR is far more enjoyable in every aspect.

Pinstripe is cheesy AF. Booses get stat boosts, Oxide in particular is maxed and cheesy AF.

Challenging powerslide mechanics ?
Challenging if you dont know how to count to 3
The difficulty level in the Original CTR makes it very challenging, and I know that the Nitro-Fueled version you can select your preferred difficulty in the adventure mode & in Arcade mode too! I love the challenge trust me, but at times there can be a obstacle you can't master just yet, unless you practice more & you can get into the flow of the game.

The best Kart racer ever is here !
Finally a worthy kart racer for non Switch owners who were missing out on Mario Kart, including me!
Saahil Harisinganey I have a switch but still have played Mario kart lol
I have a switch and MK8 and have no interest in going back to that game. MK for me has always been a generic kart racer and I've liked alot over the iterations of the times they released. CTR, and DKR were my favs and then games like MNR and Sonic Transformed were better than MK for me. MK is just a safe bet for a fun game anyone can play. But the others are alot more entertaining and unique for me. Making them alot more enjoyable.

Diddy Kong racing needs a remake . Or remastered
Oh c'mon, rubber banding is a cheap trick to ramp up the difficulty. I thought that is a thing of the past 😬
I was able to stay passed the bosses. Pinstripe though gave a lot of trouble.
She mentioned Mario Kart a lot in this review...
It's almost like ctr was originally a Mario kart clone

To most of the complainers: this game isn't only aimed to the ones who played the original game.
I've never played CTR, and I'm really looking forward to trying it since it's deemed more similar to Diddy Kong Racing and to me it was more enjoyable than Mario Kart 64 mainly due to its adventure mode. If the game feels cheap in its difficulty, it's valid to complain about it and it's not a requirement to have played the original to being able to enjoy this remake.
Don't worry it's not. Newcomers can enjoy CTR assuming they played a racing game in their entire life.
Viral Sigma Eehhh. I’d argue the remake isn’t as player friendly as the original. Beenox just seems to assume you know things like “sacred fire” and “ultra sacred fire”. If you’re not constantly drifting on higher difficulties, you’re going to suffer for it.

i played the original when it came out. I guess they did this because of all the free content for the game which is really unusual for publishers like Activision. lol
