I forgot to mention the fact that there were pops songs used. They were timeless songs but they’re very distracting. Did you all get to see the movie? What did you think of it?
Animation was tremendous. Writing was decent, but lightning-paced. The licensed music was corporate and distracting as fuck.
They literally chose the 3 most well-known songs that everyone remembers from _another_ popular movie this decade and it was completely out of place.
The original score re-incorporating themes from the games was solid though.
I would've prefered that instead of playing the licenced music, they played a mariofied version/parody of it- although that might have also been distracting
It's fun, but the lack of Dennis Hopper turning people into chimpanzees with a magic ray gun makes it disappointing. 0/10. Worst movie ever. /s
As much as I love "I Need a Hero", I would honestly prefer, if they used "Practice Makes Perfect" by "Legacy X" from Mario Teaches Typing.

Bowser singing that love song about Peach had me crying.
The movie has already made over $30 million since the day it's released alone. That is how insane and great the movie has gotten.

I'm glad The Super Mario Bros. Movie gets so many praise from fans (like me) and audiences, I get that some folks may find the find not great and I can disagree. I'm glad Illumination is stepping up the better direction along with it's next upcoming film, Migration. Also I always liked Illumination and their films too. I can't wait to see more movies from Nintendo and Illumination because this is a start of a beautiful partnership.
I saw the movie yesterday and I enjoyed. I am not a gamer, but I have played Mario Kart before so I was happy to see it in the movie besides that it was good. The animation was very good, like you, I wanted to get lost in Peaches Kingdom and see the toads for myself and the way they showed Brooklyn was nice. The acting was great and I loved Bowsers singing, Jack Black got a good singing voice overall its a 8/10.

Though, I do love the cutscene from Smash where Fox McCloud and Peach are doing plot stuff but Peach gets accosted by Zelda's bodyguard; but when Fox comes back he just sees Peach and the dude having a cup of tea together on this burning airship and Fox is just like "welp, guess I'm having tea now"

Anyway, this movie may not have had the best pacing or even a story that goes beyond just being standard but I had so much fun with the small details, animation and the characterization of Mario and Luigi that I just don’t care. Their brotherly bond was portrayed so wholesomely here. As my channel name suggests, I am a huge Luigi fan so though I would’ve loved to have had him get more shining moments, I’m super satisfied with what we got at the end. Writing-wise, this movie is a 6.5/10 but in my diehard Mario fan heart, it’s an 11/10.
I just want more can we get the sequel already 💀

Movie does exactly what it sets out to do, I respect it.
Mario did get that scene where he parkoured his way threw the city to get to his job. So it did establish he had skills.
It established that he has parkour skills but not that he can do that against attacking enemies.
I dunno if “Critics are wrong” and “just fine” really track, since a ~50% RT score is what I’d *expect* a “just fine” movie to get.
Well the movie is for fans but it’s funny to hear right wing people complain about Princess Peach
Absolutely funny
Ironic since before the movie was released, right-wingers claimed it would tank because princess peach was portrayed as a feminist girlboss and claimed it was woke. After it made a lot of money, now right-wingers are claiming it is anti-woke because it was a video game movie that wasn't "political" and had male main characters and chris pratt (who was the weakest part if the movie). [They also did the same thing to sony's miles morales spiderman movies ... until it was revealed that the astv movie was made with abuse. They tried to do the same thing with ruby Gillman, the flash, and the barbie movie just because disney's live-action tlm had a black woman play ariel; but their words ran hollow because those same people that claim they want original movies and movies that are "faithful" to the white characters didn't go out to see ruby Gillman or flash and now they are mad because the barbie cast and Warner studios reminded them that the barbie movie is a barbie movie.]
Zack Snyder learned the hard way not to pander to the anti-sjw incel dudeobros because those guys wanted an uncut version of a DCu superhero movie, Warner studios gave it to them, and those same guys either didn't bother to watch it or just hated the movie. And those same guys had the audacity to be mad that Zack Snyder called them out and said they weren't real fans. Disney and the tlm crew defended halle bailey early on and called out their bluff by focusing on their target audiences and real fans of tlm. Disney deliberately mismarketed elemental the way they did because of the racist and sexist backlash Turning Red and live-action tlm got which resulted in a terrible box opening but a peak in interest thanks to word of mouth from disney and animation fans. Dreamworks and Warner thought they could get the people complaining about "woke" disney and "cancel culture" and the people praising spiderman astv and the mario movie to see their movies ruby Gillman and flash and that strategy failed because the anti-sjws are not a reliable audience. (Ruby Gillman should have marketed to children, families, and gals instead of relying on their mermaid character to pander to anti-sjws. Warner should have cancelled flash instead of batgirl.) Barbie cast and crew realized this and decided to do the same strategy disney and illumination did and remind everyone that the barbie movie is a barbie movie; implicitly calling out the anti-sjws' bluff while appealing to the gals and barbie fans.
I was not a fan of the badass peach, and the movie didn’t do much with her skills except near the end. They could made her way more silly and funny, also if they wanted the badass action princess Daisy’s right there. Her character fits that role way more than Peach, just have her meet Luigi when they were kidnapped and escape together, gives Luigi more screen time and adds to his character development.
