- Gov. Ron DeSantis said he's working with the Florida legislature on an initiative that would ban public camping throughout the state in what he says is an effort to maintain law and order.
DeSantis held a news conference in Miami Beach Monday morning to discuss the initiative with Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Mark Glass.

How about making companies pay a livable wage so they can afford to pay rent in the city they work in. So I guess if you're homeless you goto jail!?!?!?
And that’s why you’re not in politics my friends…
If youre homeless you go to jail - you know how many homeless LIKE JAIL?
Here come FEMA camps.
FIX THE INSURANCE RATES!!!!!!!!
I have been homeless for a short time before and nobody knew bathed in a creek use a laundrymate camped out in the woods went to work everyday it lasted for 6 months till I bought a house
What progress?spent too much time running for president instead of helping the people of Florida this is your job
Here they go again with the bs got money for free food an free clothes an mail for the homeless but you won’t give out free job training like electrician or plumbing for the able body to get skills so they can find a way to make money to survive this is a low income problem there talking about mental health but won’t give you more than 1500 a month if you have mental health this world is absolutely evil that’s why I got no kids
Omg he is dangerous
Why is property and car insurance the highest in Florida? Why not tackle those problems and actually help people. Oh wait it's the government they could care less. 🤮🙄
We have had this problem for years, nothing new. He is well into his second term and he chooses to do something about it now? His is not doing this out of the kindness of his heart, it must be some other agenda he has. I have learnt with Ron, don't listen to what he says, watch what he actually does. Nearly every state has a homeless problem not just three states, smh
I have learned with random leftists on the internet, they are paid shills for the DNC
could be.. but the dems havent helped at all either.
@@Tracy-wr7mj The last time Dems were in power in Florida was 1999. So the Dems have no record to be judged on. Its all Republicans for the last 25 yrs. Dems can't be blamed for anything. FYI, I am not Dem or Rep.
banning camping in public does nothing to help homelessness it just makes it worse
@fladave99Some are addicts. Many simply can't afford $2-3000 per month, plus first/last month rent, plus utilities for an apartment. But many people, like yourself, don't want to be bothered with thinking.
how does it make it worse? it only effects the individual getting arrested. how does one individual getting locked up create another, seperate homeless individual?
@@boofert.washington2499 One way is the fact that major corporations (including the State of Florida) heavily rely on for-profit prisons for free labor. If these corporations get more free prison labor, they will not need to pay people to do that job. Those people lose their home from lack of income, and they become homeless. The cycle continues. If one cannot do hard labor, they will be "Baker Acted" (a multi-billion dollar industry in Florida.) People detained against their will in a mental health facility cannot refuse drugs or any other medical treatment, and the doctor (the only one who can release the detained) can petition a judge to keep the individual locked up for as long as the doctor can get away with it (no family fighting for them, for example.) So many ways to rake in the dough in that industry. The state and investors will protect and support that cash cow at the expense of other industries, costing people jobs. Any other stupid questions, Boo?
@fladave99I homeless an I’m not on drugs now since you just called all of us drug addicts if your white all of you are raycist do you agree with that ?
thanks Ron, but what are you doing about the skyrocketing property and auto insurance in florida. Its getting so bad no one can afford to live in zone a or b.. instead of worrying about texas and flying to Israel , focus on florida.
The homeless that could afford a bus ticket will most likely move to a state that allows camping if the ban becomes law.
@fladave99 because that worked so well for 40 years
Hint: unless you get rid of the reasons why people get addicted to drugs (stress, hopelessness, lack of financial security, depression) you'll never fix the drug epidemic
@@TheAircool1True, but fladave doesn't want to be bothered with facts.
@fladave99not all..lot of them are vets or disabled..yes joe allowed fentnyl to take over.

The new China
Of course he does. Dictators think that way
Fix the housing problem and you’ll fix this. Open up more shelters.
Take notes Mr. newsome
Desantis just did the wrong thing. Where are homeless people to go? They are homeless. Nobody sleeps on the street because they are having a lark. Where are they to go? Prices are more than Florida population can afford. Because of the boom in migration to Florida from people who have ruin their own states cost of housing is out the roof. Shame on you Desantis.
i think he mentioned part of the plan is to get shelters kinda like all the border crossers have been handed.
They can go mooch off you.
More affordable homes better paying jobs that the problem anyone could become homeless just one bad move you could end up homeless.
If it makes people keep moving and not pitch a tent; gotta do what you gotta do.
Or provide some affordable housing. It doesn't help to keep moving anymore because it's happening to people everywhere.
Everywhere.
When are Floridians going to wise up and vote this foul ball out of office?
Sorry pal, if you live here you are definitely just as awful as the homeless problem. Wise up? Look at California, New York, get out of here.
ok, Ron, lol...
I'd vote myself out too lol
Why is getting homeless people out of the streets a bad thing? Moron
JOBS IS THE CRUX OF THE PROBLEM. JOBS
It is about time, homeless in the streets is awful.
Homeless people need good JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS. JOBS. 🙏 ✝ ⛪ 🕊

Good morning NBC 6 south Florida!⚘⚘
Welcome home Governor
This is an insult to everyone camped on the sidewalk in Blue States. Let my people camp!
You gotta year for unemployment
Don't forget A&E De Santis(salt n pepper for that alligator 🐊)...
Not the ppl u want to sqeeze in sum incampment
Lets just outlaw homelessness instead of waiting for this to get overturned by a supreme court because both will be.
lol
DeSantis already knows it isn't lawful.
@@deborahhopkinson5243 how so? and have you read it?
@@Tracy-wr7mj Yes, and legally and lawfully speaking, it is a hot mess. It contains language and provisions that have already been struck down by the high courts. It violates the natural right to travel over and over, including an exemption for a "person," which we are not (person: a dead thing, a corporation,) but only if they are "(l)odging or residing overnight in a motor vehicle that is registered, insured, and located in a place where it may lawfully be." This is a major no-no, according to the Supreme Court. All of those legal terms are commercial activity, and a government or agency (in this case, the Department of Children and Families) cannot take away a natural right and replace it with mandatory permitted commercial activity. 125.0231 Public camping and public sleeping includes language that has elements of the legal term "camping," but "public camping" and "public sleeping" are undefined/repetitive terms in law. "Public" means government-owned. "Camping" is not just a sharing of land, but requires additional activity, like erecting a tent/structure or building a cooking fire. Both are commercial terms. Sleeping? Are you kidding me? Florida thinks it has the authority to regulate sleeping, a natural human function? My gosh, that would be thrown out of court before a trial date. Insane. And what the heck is "public sleeping?" Lol, the government can create, regulate, and own sleep? The entire thing is an absolute cluster. This couldn't stand the first challenge; they have to know that already, so it may just all be for show, but if Florida tries to enforce it upon living natural people, they could lose a lot more than money. DeSantis and Florida legislature are all-of-a-sudden doing a lot of unlawful, tyrannical actions like this back-to-back. These are not wise moves. They know they won't win in Federal court, so it must be something else. Maybe they're hoping to get away with it using mob-rule, or maybe I'm just giving them too much credit.
awesome!! 👏🏻
Won’t fly
