HTVRONT sublimation HTV is suitable for both dark and light materials and can be used effectively for sublimation. This method allows you to avoid using two different vinyls, simplifying the process.

Hi, I am new here to sublimation and I purchased the white htv vinyl and clear as well. I did not know you had to layer the white and then clear over dark colors? I thought I could put the white vinyl over dark and then the sublimation print? Is that wrong? Thank you!
You do not need to layer clear HTV over the white HTV for this process. The white HTV provides a suitable base for the sublimation print on dark colors.
@ Thank you for responding so timely! I also have another question I ran into when I layered my sublimation onto just the white HTV vinyl, the color seemed to lighten. For example, my print was just dark orange and black and when I lifted the sublimation off the color transferred more dull and as a light orange? Any tips? Or maybe something I did wrong?
@ Thank you, one more question, when just pressing sublimation onto a lighter shirt, what do you put in between the shirt so it doesn’t transfer through?
It is the same feeling as vinyl as it is sublimated on vinyl. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/ Here is the other methods.jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
With the clear HTV, does it still have the vinyl feel, or the design feel like a "proper" sublimated print where the ink is in the fabric? Obviously you would with the white vinyl, but I'm not sure what the difference is between this process compared to just printing directly onto printable HTV and using that?
Yes, a sublimation print can be applied to cotton using printable HTV as the base. This method allows the sublimation ink to adhere to the HTV, which is then applied to the cotton fabric. This way, you can achieve vibrant designs on cotton shirts, even though sublimation ink typically requires polyester to bond effectively. Here is the tutorial with the different materials that you can use. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/

Hi Jennifer, can these shirts be washed as usual & warm or cold water ?
Yes they can!
If using a white cotton shirt, but your design has white in it, would you need to do white htv under the clear or just the clear? Thanks!
Just the clear on a white shirt. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/
I am desperate to find a hack that will work with colored polyester shirts. I need the white part of the design to show up white and not the color of the polyester shirt. Is there a hack for that?
Here you go. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
@@JenniferMaker Thanks for your reply, but those instructions refer to "cotton" materials. Are you saying that HTV will also work on polyester? Even the HTV packaging specifies that it is for "cotton" material.
I am going insane, cant figure out what setting to use on my heat press for 100% cotton, i keep getting a yellowish brown "burning" around the sublimated image. Any help would be really amazing!
It sounds like you either need to lower the temperature or time or both. WE used 385° F (196C°) and the time to 30 seconds. Make sure to press the dirt first to remove any moisture. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/
@@JenniferMaker thank you! my wife and i love your channel and page!
I'll be trying this out on a black hat, with my logo thank you 😊
Great! 😃
If you use sublimation paper, do you have to use sublimation ink, too? Thank you!
So you can use white glitter htv and not need the second clear layer for dark colors?
Also what brand of clear htv did you use
The affiliate links for the products are below the video and also on the blog post. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/ Here are the other methods you can use. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
Is it stiff with clear vinyl layer ,thanks
So, not any more than other HTV 😊🌻
This is why my customers like sublimation because it’s not stuff like vinyl but they also want dark colors until I tell them I can’t. I wish there was a better way so it would feel like vinyl. Easy subli didn’t even work for me either
I prefer do dtf hack on white cotton. The downside is can't do dark fabric unless you do a layer of hack htv + sub
@@dianachau7857 I tried that hack one time and it was so blotchy when I pressed it onto the shirt. It also left some on my film. I must have done something wrong
Love your videos! When using this method is it really sublimated meaning it becomes part of the shirt or does it sit on top because it’s on the clear vinyl? And, how does it last with washing?
It depends, we have care instructions in the notes at the bottom of the blog post 😊🌻
I wanted to ask a random sublimation question….
Can I use DTR on the white iron on and clear HTV sub sheets with color tshirts?
Do you mean DTF? We have some information about that on our blog, the link is posted above. 😊🌻
@@JenniferMaker yes, lol and thank you
I have a question, I've been watching you for a while. Do I have to use vinyl for any sublimation that is on a color t shirt other than white??
If it is a light color and has a high polyester count you do not. I have even used 50/50 and it will give you more of a faded look. Here are other options to use. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
@@JenniferMaker thank you for the info! I really appreciate it!
Hi Jennifer, do you remove in hot the sublimation paper in white shirts?
You don't want to remove it right away as it's still sublimating. Let it cool for a few minutes before removing.🥰
@@JenniferMaker thanks 💖 Do you remove it inmediatly?
Can you use HTV Ront clear sub with reg sub paper on a black cotton? It says for both light and dark?
Yes, follow the manufacturer's instructions. 😊🌻
@@JenniferMaker yay. Thank you. I just ordered some. 😁
How did you keep the white vinyl from shrinking or is cricut vinyl shrink free?
There is a little shrinkage, so you adjust the sizing accordingly. 😊🌻
@@JenniferMaker thank you so much!
Hello Jennifer, Do you have an update after it's been washed?
I do not but here are the details for washing on the blog post. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/
Does it matter which sublimation printer you use?
No 😊🌻
Hi Jennifer! How about sublimation on dark polyester? I have some of my husband’s work polos that need an insignia sublimated. Thanks in advance!💜💜💜
Sublimation ink doesn't show up on dark materials. 😊🌻
I think she said to put white HTV vinyl under the sublimation ink… I dunno I don’t even have a Cricut yet I’m just thinking about getting one and trying to learn about projects you can do
Is it ok to just use white iron on vinyl or is it necessary to use the clear iron on also
You can use these other options. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Hi Jennifer have a quick question for you I have a epson f170 sub printer do u know if I need to use up all the epson sub ink before adding hippo sub ink or can I just add it straight on top of it ?
You don't need to change your sublimation ink, The ink that comes with it is great!
Hi Jennifer, I am a little confused about the clear HTV and the everyday Iron-on, do I have to use them both or can I just sublimate on the white HTV only? Thanks.
You need to use the clear over the white as you can't sublimate on to regular white vinyl🥰
@@JenniferMaker great, now I understand, thanks so much.
Can you try to show us how to do a Grinch tshirt? Also can we use any kind of cotton shirt?
Yes, you can. Here is another tutorial with other methods. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Could I use HTV Vinyl on Ceramics like kitchen spoon rest or a kitchen canisters?
You can easily use permanent vinyl on canisters and kitchen appliances. Here is a tutorial using permanent vinyl. jennifermaker.com/make-vinyl-decals-instant-pot/
Hello Jennifer, I have followed your tutorial video and I understand that white HTV does not contain polyester but the glitter one does. My question is, I have to print a business logo on black t-shirt and the logo is black and the writtiings are white. I don't think mecanics will enjoy having glitter logo 😂 so what should I do if I want the black to stick to out? What kind of HTV should I use I'm lost too many options !
Here are the other options that work. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/ Or just do regular print then cut. jennifermaker.com/how-to-use-printable-vinyl-with-cricut/
Could you use htvront white vinyl for sublimation for dark shirts instead of doing two vinyls?
HTVRONT sublimation HTV is suitable for both dark and light materials and can be used effectively for sublimation. This method allows you to avoid using two different vinyls, simplifying the process.
@@JenniferMaker Thank you so much for your quick response on that! I watched another of your videos that also showed sparkly htv, holographic, and glow in the dark. That was very interesting! Thanks again for sharing!
I saw your other video where you sublimate directly onto white HTV and other colors of HTV. I’m just wondering what the purpose of adding a layer of clear HTV vinyl? Do you HAVE to use clear vinyl or could you just sublimate directly onto normal white vinyl?
Here are some other options that work. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Question - are you using glossy or matte finish for the clear htv?
We have all the product details in the written tutorial linked above. 😊🌻
Matte
I have a royal blue polyester shirt that I need to put a sublimation image on....will this work? Any other tips? help please
Yes! This will work for any color shirt. 😊🌻
@@JenniferMaker it didn't work on the plue 93% poly shirt. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but will go back and do this with a white poly shirt instead
Will the design eventually crack, and peel like regular HTV?
You'd want to follow the care instructions at the bottom of the tutorial for the best results. 😊🌻
20:18 why do you need the clear if you have the white HTV?
The clear is needed to sublimate on. White is needed on the dark color shirts to show up. Here are the other methods. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
Thank you so much for great clear and detailed directions! ❤️
Glad it was helpful!
So do you have to do the white before the clear on dark shirts or can you just do the clear?
Yes on dark. Here is another tutorial with different methods. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Whats the weight like and is there any stretch? I used to use inkjet transfers and it felt like there eas a sheet of paper glued to the shirt
It is the same feeling as vinyl as it is sublimated on vinyl. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/ Here is the other methods.jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
does the vinyl leave any texture or finish difference? if the vinyl is pressed on in places where no image is transferred, what do you see?
yes you can feel/see the vinyl🥰
For the demo on the black shirt, could you use white htv instead of using the white vinyl and the clear htv?
Yes, take a look at my detailed blog post for this project, jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Hello which is best the clear matte htv or the glossy clear htv?
We used the matte. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-clear-htv/ Here are other options. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
@@JenniferMaker thanks so much love your channel💕😊
Hello Jen, do you know how long does it last?
It depends on washings. Wash in cold water, no fabric softener, dry low heat or air dry for best lasting results.
With the clear HTV, does it still have the vinyl feel, or the design feel like a "proper" sublimated print where the ink is in the fabric? Obviously you would with the white vinyl, but I'm not sure what the difference is between this process compared to just printing directly onto printable HTV and using that?
There is an HTV feel to it, since it's not directly on the fabric. 😊🌻
Thankyou So Much Very Easy And Clear. I Saw A Lot Of Video But This One Is Very Clear.
Glad it was helpful! 😊🌻
I'm having trouble with black ink smudges on white shirts after they are worn. Can you tell me how to prevent this?
Are you using the same print quality we are? I haven't had that happen with my shirts but if something needs to be updated, let us know 😊🌻
Could I use laser copy paper in place of sublimation? paper ?
Can a sublimation print be applied to cotton with printable htv as the base?
Yes, a sublimation print can be applied to cotton using printable HTV as the base. This method allows the sublimation ink to adhere to the HTV, which is then applied to the cotton fabric. This way, you can achieve vibrant designs on cotton shirts, even though sublimation ink typically requires polyester to bond effectively. Here is the tutorial with the different materials that you can use. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
