I am Japanese national, but I have been living overseas for many years, and I have never been to Kyushu, nor Shikoku regions, and it is so great to see someone like you travel places which have not been promoted as much as Tokyo and Osaka regions! @@PowrAl Interesting question.I'm Japanese and we usually never tend to eat big cut or heavy amount of food.I think there are several reasons:1)Our stomach is basically small(this applies to other Asian people).2)Aesthetic issues. It is very important in Japanese culture how the things looks so nice.Something massive is just an object and an ingredient and there I find no techniques or elaboration. I am always astonished by thick-sliced fishes on sushi rice of abroad everytime I see on internet🍣,this is fisherman's style not for fancy restaurant.All in all "big" food is thought to be country-style and wild in ways good.I dream of eating big cut meat🥩 but not often and every weekend,just wish it one time in a decade😀.

I am Japanese. A lot of foreign people come to japan recently. Unfortunately, they go to McDonald's often. You can see a lot and various restaurant in Japan compared to Europe and US. Please try to go to many restaurants! I think you do not feel uncomfortable form staff in almost all of restaurants , even if you are other countries person. By the way, Unagi is famous and traditional food, so you can see everywhere in Japan. However, I recommend expensive one in a Unagi specialty restaurant, because you may feel fishy in cheap shop.

Japanese people prepares their foods with so much passion. Not just the presentation but the touch of their culture is with it. I never had japanese food that i didnt like..Ive tried many cuisines from other countries as well but nothing compares to Japanese cuisines/foods/dishes.. From their soups to their main courses to their snacks...its all amazing.

Thanks for triggering my memories of a visit to Fukuoka 20 years ago. It was my first taste of Japan and a week-long exposure to the local foods. I had what was described as the fast-food version of eel. Your description of the experience in your first clip was so reminiscent of my own. I still try to order Eel Don at every opportunity here in the US, but it is never quite the same as my memory of Japan!

He seemed to enjoy the actual alien fish a lot but I gotta say those look totally different and it wouldnt have occurred to me to call them BOTH alien fish

I love Japan! I was there in 2017 and enjoyed lots of sushi, ramen, Japanese tea, beautiful manicured gardens, and parks, and even bought beer at vending machines, lol😜, and everything in between - not to mention the place is so clean. I'm really looking forward to going back again. 🙏

Eel is my favourite fish . In the south of Italy we eat it in two ways. Or in tomato sauce made with olive oil garlic (and fresh parsley in the plate) with spaghetti usually around Xmas or in the oven with potatoes, a dash of olive oil, bay leaves black pepper and lemon. Also sometimes grilled when the eel is very big.
I love ice cream when it's cold outside :). I love grilled unagi, it is one of the foods I love eating. There use to be a market here in Honolulu, Hawaii that sells it in a bento bowl but they stopped a few years back. The unagi was pretty good but wasn't as perfect as what is shown in this vid. This just make my bucket list even longer. =P

Mark-san, I mentioned before I used live in Japan. I envy you now much more than when I enjoyed your previous SeaShells in Fukuoka. While living in Japan, I discovered Unagi, which the Japanese enjoy their tradition. Unagai didn't appeal to me when they were alive, but shockingly having tenderness, refined, buttery, and rich flavor, I fell in love with it. Ganso Motoyoshiya is 5-Star Unagi Resturant? Japan was food (Umami) heaven, which other American friends and I always said about Japan. Not just sea foods but Matuzaka & Kobe beef, pastry, cakes, deep fried foods, Sushi, Coffees, etc. Thank you, Mark-san. You have a beautiful family.

I'm from this small city, called Yanagawa. Currently I'm living in Spain and I've visited many places but I really miss my hometown. I'm so happy that a very famous yotuber came to Yanagawa and Kyushu, where is one of the less touristic islands in the country, so you can feel a REAL and traditional Japan. And most importantly, Fukuoka and Kyushu have the best meal! Trust me, the guy who also lived in Tokyo and has been to the mayority of japanese prefactures.
Wish more people showed the same love and respect for different cultures like this man . Love watching this with my daughter thank giving us the opportunity and experience

I love grilled unagi, it is one of the foods I love eating. There use to be a market here in Honolulu, Hawaii that sells it in a bento bowl but they stopped a few years back. The unagi was pretty good but wasn't as perfect as what is shown in this vid. This just make my bucket list even longer. =P

Yeah these Japan videos I concur are great! I try to stay adventurous but would I do that raw alien fish 😅 not sure. But that eel, rice, and sushi all looked phenomenal! Great vid man..💙

Mark-san, I mentioned before I used live in Japan. I envy you now much more than when I enjoyed your previous SeaShells in Fukuoka. While living in Japan, I discovered Unagi, which the Japanese enjoy their tradition. Unagai didn't appeal to me when they were alive, but shockingly having tenderness, refined, buttery, and rich flavor, I fell in love with it. Ganso Motoyoshiya is 5-Star Unagi Resturant? Japan was food (Umami) heaven, which other American friends and I always said about Japan. Not just sea foods but Matuzaka & Kobe beef, pastry, cakes, deep fried foods, Sushi, Coffees, etc. Thank you, Mark-san. You have a beautiful family.

I'm from this small city, called Yanagawa. Currently I'm living in Spain and I've visited many places but I really miss my hometown. I'm so happy that a very famous yotuber came to Yanagawa and Kyushu, where is one of the less touristic islands in the country, so you can feel a REAL and traditional Japan. And most importantly, Fukuoka and Kyushu have the best meal! Trust me, the guy who also lived in Tokyo and has been to the mayority of japanese prefactures.
Wish more people showed the same love and respect for different cultures like this man . Love watching this with my daughter thank giving us the opportunity and experience
