Hope you're hungry. In this episode, come along as we eat our weight in sushi and ramen, meet nori farmers and wagyu ranchers, and make some new surfing buddies along the way. P.S. if you're hungry for more Japan content, stay tuned for our next two episodes.
In this episode of DIRT, the crew road tripped around Kyushu. The food culture in Kyushu dates back to the emperors of Japan, and the Black Current off the eastern shore has shaped the island's cuisine for centuries. The DIRT team followed that current up the coastline, surfing with new friends and tasting new flavors. And with each stop, we learned even more about how the traditions we keep can honor thousands of years of knowledge-and point the way to the future.

No backflip into water on this one?
Dirt is easily the best thing to ever happen on youtube
True
I sent this to a friend after I was two minutes into the video. When he was two minutes in he told me he was ready to sell his land to move to Japan, buy a boat, and become a fisherman.
How do these videos not have more views?
First time UA-cam algorithm recommended your video to me and you brought a tear to my eye because your voice and narration instantly reminded me of Anthony Bourdain.
Yessssss! My 2nd video in and I thought, "Aww man! He reminds me of Anthony Bourdain!" The travels, the knowledge, and just feeling like you've just been taken along for the ride. 😊
As a Japanese, I really appreciate that you introduce (enjoy?) our beautiful Kyushu Island. Thank you so much.
i think 'Embrace' would be the right word here
Babe wake up a new Dirt episode dropped
Hahaha exactly how i reacted when it popped up on my home page
I have just discovered this channel, ARE YOU FXXXXING KIDDING ME???? this is the most perfect travel / food video I have seen in my life. And there are so many I still have to see. My life just got so much better . Thank you guys so much. You have made a guy from The Netherlands, that lives in Berlin Germany, so happy. THANK YOU!!!!!
Check out the other episodes, and let us know witch one is your favorite!
@@Huckberryco I just saw the Ireland one,..AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@michaeldebree4870 Love to hear it!
The way this was produced, the way you talk over the footage and the overall feeling I get from watching this is like I am watching Anthony Bourdain. Thanks for this amazing content!
Great to be a part of this. Hope to see you all in Japan soon!
I'm Japanese n live in Kyusyu.
this is the best video that explains Japanese culture. there are many video about Japan for foreigner but I feel there are subtle difference between that video and real Japan though, this perfectly captures authentic Japan. I like this.
Lived in Fukuoka for 4 years (2018-2022) - miss it daily, especially the food scene. This is such a beautifully shot film - thanks for all the nostalgia!
I cannot imagine a more humble, authentic, and simply wonderful way to showcase the local food culture of foreign places! Amazingly done!
I love this stuff but it's fleetingly brief. Given how far these people (Dirt) travel for the material, would it hurt to be slightly more in-depth? I'm sure we can all concentrate for an extra 5 minutes... Hello, nice food, goodbye!
I keep saying, "this is my new fave" for each episode lol. Aaaamazing amazing. Can't wait for the next part! Japan looks so good 😍
^^^SAME^^^ haha
This series is the absolute best I have seen for Food Travel in recent times! Keep on it, Josh!
I could forgo watching any kind of TV show for the rest of my life and just watch these mini doc style episodes.
Another little masterpiece as usual, Huckberry. Japan is most definitely on the bucket list.
Having grown up for 13 years in Kagoshima, it is great seeing it featured. So much of Japan's beauty is right outside the bustling cities. Thanks for featuring Kyushu.
Haven’t felt this involved and amazed in a show since Bourdain. It’s like Bourdain but with chefs table quality cinematography
Hard to imagine how this could be done better
I'm Japanese. Most tourists coming from abroad go to Tokyo Osaka Kyoto. Then, where is the most popular destination for Japanese? it is Kyushu.
I’m pretty fckn hooked on how elegant, chill, in-depth, realistic, and relative this series is bro
This has easily become the best cooking and traveling show
You are truly out here, perfecting a wonder of a life.
i'm shocked that this doesn't have millions of views, incredible work.
This video makes me appreciate japan more, I visited my family in nagiya last year, and mannnn all I did was cook and eat, I was a regular at lawson going there everyday getting snacks haha, makes me realize how much they put effort with their food.
I love the passion of Japanese people for high quality food. Thats why their cuisine is one of the most delicious ones on this planet.
This is the best food documentary I've ever seen. Thank you Dirt!
Holy moly. One of the most beautiful chapters yet.
Your videos are made with such heart, depth & respect. I lived there for 11 years and you made me cry

the best series on youtube. period.
We think so too!
This is one of the most gorgeous videos about Japan I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. I was clueless about this part of Japan. This video taught me a lot!
I like DIRT is one of the VERY few things on UA-cam that the comment section is a fun place to be. Such a great production, and the team keeps to their roots each episode, while progressing at the perfect pace.
Also, everyone in the comment section is extremely jealous of Rosen. What a job man lol
Can I be honest ? One of the best video I've ever seen . Love from Italy . New sub here
I said This about your Ireland video as I'm Irish i felt truly proud of your work and production. For years I've aspired to go to Japan. Watching your video I have book the flights
熊本✌️❤️🔥 Lived in Kumamoto for 5 years. Traveled all over Kyushu. So many places to see, people to meet, and food to eat. Great episode, thank you!

Supeeeerrrb work by the whole team. And with the locals, I love how much warmth comes through time and time again.
This video almost feels like a bittersweet memory. All that good food, music and moments. Thanks man.
Best one yet, brought tears to my eyes at the end, what amazing people.
Great series! Fantastic instrumental music throughout.
Through this video, I was able to rediscover the goodness of Japan.
I am Japanese, but this cut-out is just cool. You guys are the only ones who can shoot like this. Thanks.
Sensational stuff. Well done to the whole team. Looking at flights to Japan right now.
Hi Mr.Rosen and the Crew! Thank you for highlighting Kyushu! I love living my slow paced life in Okinawa riding bikes, surfing, and camping with my wife. Everything you highlighted makes me proud to call Japan (especially the southern prefecture) home. All the best.
Look out yeti, huckberry is taking over as the best storytelling brand out there!

Huckberry, can we keep these going please!? I miss Anthony B. and this is the only thing that keeps his spirit alive. Big shoes to fill, I know, but you guys got your own modern take on it. Just keep on keepin on. Please.
Glad you enjoyed Fukuoka. I've been living there (here?) quite a few years now, and despite having been all over Japan I ended up settling here in what I believe to be the best city in the entire country. By the looks of things, you weren't here long enough to savour much of what else is on offer, but at least you had a taste.
The only thing better when it comes to food and travel is Bourdain. Keep up the great work.
always love your series, keep it up...
I never felt this calm watching a yt video.
