Are you better off to have a 360 radiator for the gpu mounted at the front pulling air in and a cpu cooler blowing out, or just a cpu aio on top and 3 fans blowing in?

Hey man! Great video! I was wondering if you could answer a question of mine. I got my omen 45L around 6 months ago and I recently put it under my desk (I KNOW ITS BAD FOR TEMPS) but I have a 3070 and I was wondering if there is any way to get better airflow under my desk. I can really feel the heat when I am sitting down and I doesn’t bother me but I’m sure it’s not good for the cpu. I stay around 55-65 on small load and 65-80 on high load. I also wanted to ask you if you know if the omen 45L can have a vertical mount attached because I LOVE THE WAY THEY LOOK. Could you let me know your thoughts. One last thing is how do I know what kind of psu cables I need to get because I don’t like the stock cables and I really wanted to get a new cable for Gpu and motherboard!!! Thanks 😊
Im going to try it for myself and see how it goes but I am likely also going to ditch it. I am building my PC rn and have to find a new use for this PCIE Riser
Is there a version of the extension lead with shorter cables? It seems like 300mm is way too much, when you are installing the card the cables are all folded over behind it.
The only way to do this is with a vented side panel for direct air intake by graohics card fans. Or try water cooling the graphics card in its upright position. The temperature difference is astonishing.
Have you been able to solve your problem with your vertical mount? Your're right about how nice it looks and purchased a mount that allows the card to be away from the glass and I love it. Nive video. Thanks
Awesome video! Is this cable flexible enough to be plugged into the pcie slot on bottom rather on the top? If so, is there still room for other pcie cards to be installed normally?
You should really use the top slot for a GPU the bottom one won't have as many pcie lanes and you may impair performance. Tbh mounting vertically I doubt you'd get anything behind the GPU either.
@@TheProvokedPrawn thanks for answering. I indeed know that the lower pcie lanes are not as dense. I alread have a gpu in the "better" slot. So the the riser in my case would give me more opportunity to install other non-gpu cards since the gpus are dual slot sizes. Thats why I was asking if flexibility is given for my use case. The vertical gpu won't be needed for any intense work since I have the other one in the first slot. What do you think?
I have the black 220t RGB and it doesn’t have the vertical GPU access on the back of the case. There is no detachable slots on mine. I may be able to remove the slots towards the mid case, but it would set the GPU super close to the motherboard, but much further from the glass… so it may be better.
good video. related question.. i have same case, asus RTX3090 TUF (in the first PCIE X16 on top of M.2_1), and samsung 970 evo plus NVME in m.2_1 (under the graphics card) do you notice M.2 temps increase with the GPU on top? before I put the GPU in, the M.2 temp was almost 10c less than after installing GPU. I was thinking of vertical mount so came to your video but seems the GPU temps will rise if vertical mount. So either GPU rise vertical or NVME rise if GPU regular. So i'm thinking the GPU is 10x the price of NVME so i'll just leave it...
If there was a way to cut a hole in the case to add a hole or a fan into the area where the video card is it would be a fix. is the glass side "glass" or a plexi glass so it can be cut? I am having a heat issue even with the normal mount. The glass gets hot and my gpu fans spin up and down constantly with the glass door on. I removed the glass door and no more issues. I do have fans in front and top but the glass door seems to insulate heat. Its beautiful but yeah its a heat issue now. Never seen that before in a case after 25 years of building pc's.
Do u think it would be better to get a vertical gpu mount with the bracket and cable so it’s farther away from glass for better airflow or should I just use the one installed in case?
Very educational video. I just got this case in black for myself and I was thinking about mounting my RTX 3080 vertically. I'm even more hesitant than before, now ^^. In addition, I can't help but notice your AIO tubes are going to the top of it. Don't you think, as GamerNexus detailed it in a very thorough video that you should invert it, so the tubes connect in the bottom?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Excellent video! Now AIO physics makes even more sense. Thank you for sharing this. (I hope you did not take my question as an agression, that really wasn't the point)

Are the rear feet removable on this case? I know that the grey front fascia is removable. I'm thinking about putting the black feet from the black version on the white version, so that I end up with a black & white 4000D. My setup is black & white, so the grey would ruin everything. Corsair customer service says that the rear feet should be removable, but it's "not recommended" for some reason...?
Looks like yes as they sell replacement feet on corsairs site, but it might be that the PSU dust filter and bracket press out a bit from the bottom and it may not sit flat on a table (plus the associair restriction on the PSU) and that's why it's not recommended. Don't worry, you should be fine reinstalling new ones and you can get them from corsairs website without buying a whole extra case!
@@GTReplayMaster Damn bruh, good looking out. 👍 Last time I checked, you could only get the front panel and side panel as replacement parts. Now I only need to buy one case, you just saved me some money. 🙌
That Corsair pcie3 gpu cable did not work with my 3070 and z690 hero had to het a pcie4 cable (coolermaster) …also I ve put extra fans on that 360 radiator to help with a push/pull
My new gpu has RGB on the bottom of the card where the fans are. Kinda useless to put it there since it's not seen that well, even on a desk. Was hoping to find some solution to this so I could show off my card. Vertical mounting could work with low temps in a case that has vents on the side for attaching some fans to exhaust some of that heat. but I don't want the fans to be too close and get melted by the gpu. heck, i even worry about my m.2 sometimes since it's so close to my gpu. Not to mention putting fans there would totally obscure view to the GPU anyways!
Same problem here with 1080 Ti Aorus. Fans are literally within 1/4 or less from the glass. Temps hit 90 Celsius just from sitting in a loading screen before a game began and I had to take the side panel off for the fans to breath. A waste of time and money. Wouldn't of purchased this case. This case shouldn't have this option because any dual slot card will over heat with this case. Corsair should be sued over this. These Taiwanese companies get away with too much as it is and it has gotten worse over the years.
Well that radiator is clearly restricting the air flow. Would be interesting to test radiator at top and pure air flow at the front with vertical gpu... Great video...
@@TheProvokedPrawn It's just a universal idea, not tied to that dinosaur ;) . If it would look acceptable, it could solve the heating issue for viewers who want to show off their gpu. I'm not interested to show off my 1060 😆.
vertical mounting GPU needs a large case and they have not yet understood it take an open mesh in front of the GPU for cool air intake. When will they light up those designers? in those glass sidings they could come up with holes where the GPU fans fit in front of those mesh holes?
good observation, I was thinking similarly. Designers need to mostly return to steel or aluminum sides so perforations or mesh intakes can allow better cooling for vertical mounting. When it comes to glass, I believe there's only 1-2 major manufacturers in Asia that do these for chassis design and if they were to implement perforations on the side panel, it would likely require vast retooling on a major scale so I personally don't think they would implement soon, unless perhaps many users directly request glass perforated side panels for this purpose or they feel they're prior investment in glass side panels has more than paid for the upgrade. I think I may have heard something to that effect about a year ago from Steve on Gamers Nexus, but don't quote me on that.
Yeah the fans are pressed against the glass, there is basically no airflow. I was looking for vidoes about this, but my situation is different.. I noticed my gpu gets super hot and the glass gets super hot even with the door on in the traditional mount. I noticed my gpu fan would speed up and down, up and down up and down. During gaming. I built a new AMD cpu based system with this case, with my old 2080 video card and I never heard this before with the old case. So I had no idea if it was windows 11, the amd cpu, gpu or motherboard, the case or what. So after suffering through that annoying issue I took off the clear glass case panel which was VERY HOT, to see what fan was spinning up and down constantly ( figured it out through the OCCT software with was a gpu fan). Sure enough the fan up and down stopped with the door removed.. I have 2 fans in front and a top fan. But it seems the way my rog strix rtx 2080 card vents heat from the card it just wasn't getting enough air flow and was blowing on the glass door. The glass door unlike metal must not radiate heat but insulates it. So I figured out issue is with the case door. My computer is silent even while gaming with the door off. I thought maybe vertical mounting would fix the issue but clearly with no clearance between glass door and the gpu that would be a worse situation for me.
You're supposed to screw in the vertical mount to the bottom of the case. You might had missed that as you put the card on the adaptor before putting the adaptor into the case. Agree with you for such vertical mount, you'll want intake fans in front to bring in cool air, and put the cpu rad as exhaust on top.
Your GPU is choking for air. This case is not big enough for that mounting position. If you’re watching this please don’t follow this advice for cases this size. Get a bigger one. His GPU will be baking after a while
I wonder if you can fit a fan in PSU tray, that would blow vertically, right into GPU. Perhaps that would require to mount a short PSU, for instance SFX with SFX-ATX bracket.
I just purchased this case and my 1080 Ti Aorus will not work vertically GPU mounted because the temps hit 90 and overheat. I had to open the panel for airflow. I wasn't happy at all.
Not recommended. The GPU will be too close to the Tempered glass, and it will literally cook itself as the 4000X has pretty sub-par airflow because of the Tempered Glass Front Panel.

Mate you should do ASMR :D Thanks for the breakdown. I suspected cooling would be compromised when vertically mounting the GPU. Perhaps with a much larger case it might be better but it's risky to me even though it looks great. With a more solid mounting option to prevent flopping about and better cooling this would be a great way to mount a stylish GPU.
Hey, interesting video however please consider making another test without the side panel to simulate a mesh one. I came for the temp differences for when it is mounted vertically and this test only accounts for a certain case type.
pretty late to the video but i have a gigabyte vision 3080 in my 4000x and idk, its a chonky card. Really wanna vertical mount it but thinking its not a good idea now. (I do have the triple intake in front and the radiator on top tho)

Hello, I have the same case with a evga 3080ti mounted normally and a 360mm rad on the front (exactly like yours, same fan positioning too). My question is if I should keep the build like that or switch it up? I use it everyday and game on it too. Temps while gaming are about 73 C
I got my 4000d Airflow two days ago and was wondering how the vertical GPU would fit. Granted I only have a 1660ti. I will see about the space against the glass before I buy the extension cable.
@Caffatigued Owl There is not much space so I'm not going for vertical installation.
Are you better off to have a 360 radiator for the gpu mounted at the front pulling air in and a cpu cooler blowing out, or just a cpu aio on top and 3 fans blowing in?
Hey man. My case has an inch of clearance for a vertical mounted gpu. Do you think this is enough. As of now in its normal position my temps are 29c idle-50c under load. Do you think it will be ok
I am building my PC rn and have to find a new use for this PCIE Riser
can you still use the existing PCI E slots for say sound card? or does the video card block it?
I expect you cannot
Is there a version of the extension lead with shorter cables? It seems like 300mm is way too much, when you are installing the card the cables are all folded over behind it.
Is there any good budget case where you can mount your GPU vertically and it won't lose performance?
XPG Invader and XPG Starker
@@uzairahmad4221 wrong. You're still up against the glass.
Nive video. Thanks
What mount did you buy?
Hi, do you think it's possible / to put 2 3070ti inside Corsair airflow 4000d?
Imma try the cablemod universal Bracket. It seats the Graphics card a bit back from the side panel. That should help airflow quite a lot.
Hello, does anyone know if the 24cm ASUS ROG Strix PCI-E x16 Riser (24cm) reaches the GPU or if it's too short?
i have the MSI MAG Z590 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX motherboard. do i need pcie 3 or 4? best regards
May i ask. Why do you need to mount the gpu? I didn’t mount mine and i get stupid posts. Where it says my gpu won’t work. But why?
Quick thing: i would switch the AIO radiator around. The tubing at the top can lead to issues that can hurt the lifespan of the AIO
Swap it around to where? 🤔 I already covered this in the other videos
Just convinced my dad that i NEED a 3060 ti for school
HOLY SH!T THE VIDEO I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR
Glad to help! Hope you enjoyed enough to subscribe 🦐🍤
@@TheProvokedPrawn Oh definitely!
I have the black 220t RGB and it doesn’t have the vertical GPU access on the back of the case. There is no detachable slots on mine. I may be able to remove the slots towards the mid case, but it would set the GPU super close to the motherboard, but much further from the glass… so it may be better.
good video. related question.. i have same case, asus RTX3090 TUF (in the first PCIE X16 on top of M.2_1), and samsung 970 evo plus NVME in m.2_1 (under the graphics card)
do you notice M.2 temps increase with the GPU on top? before I put the GPU in, the M.2 temp was almost 10c less than after installing GPU.
I was thinking of vertical mount so came to your video but seems the GPU temps will rise if vertical mount. So either GPU rise vertical or NVME rise if GPU regular.
So i'm thinking the GPU is 10x the price of NVME so i'll just leave it...
It's not something I've monitored or had problems with tbh.
hi, will a 200mm PCIe riser be long enough for this case?
same question
Does in the Corsair 275r vertical GPU mount fit a RX5600 XT?? I mean the gpu is kinda thicc and the mount is really near to the glas...😬
Would you sacrifice 30 degrees increase on the vertical mount? H510 Elite is pushing 85 degrees vertically and 55 horizontal. Love the vid!
def not worth it. use it horizontally
vertically mounted GPU look the best
i heard it affects air flow but looks dope so who cares
aesthetics > performance
Tau dependes who your talking to
Probably not worth the thermal limitations tho haha
@@connorosullivan3500 right, these people will not see their PCs last too long
will the gpu work with that extension cable if I have an amd motherboard
will this case fit the new rtx3080? seem like 2 fan is already big, so doesnt look like 3 fans will fit? x__x
Do u think it would be better to get a vertical gpu mount with the bracket and cable so it’s farther away from glass for better airflow or should I just use the one installed in case?
Yes
Does mounting your GPU vertical geduce The sag or do I need a gpu holder for?
Does it get better when you remove the glass side panel ? I mean it would lead to better air supply.

@@michaelferrand no. I've had that question a lot. And saved that video for this exact use case 🤣 I was so grateful to Jayz2cents for making that video. Let me tell you.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Now I see why 😅
So,...how about a horizontally build PC placed horizontally on your desk?.....does that do any good?!
so im gonna be building my pc soon and i have te same case as in this video. my 3060 is a triple fan one and im wondering if itd fit better if it was vertically mounted. since i am also using an air cooler
That Corsair pcie3 gpu cable did not work with my 3070 and z690 hero had to het a pcie4 cable (coolermaster)
…also I ve put extra fans on that 360 radiator to help with a push/pull
My new gpu has RGB on the bottom of the card where the fans are. Kinda useless to put it there since it's not seen that well, even on a desk. Was hoping to find some solution to this so I could show off my card. Vertical mounting could work with low temps in a case that has vents on the side for attaching some fans to exhaust some of that heat. but I don't want the fans to be too close and get melted by the gpu. heck, i even worry about my m.2 sometimes since it's so close to my gpu. Not to mention putting fans there would totally obscure view to the GPU anyways!
I have this 4000D and Asus Tuf 5600 xt triple fan. but when i vertical mount it. the GPU is so close to tempered glass.
Indeed. Alas I don't have a 240 I can test with :(
CAn you suggest me some budget cabinet that already has customized gpu slot, I'll then buy gpu riser cable separately
Thanks for this. You just saved me $50.
Glad to be of assistance
Thinking of doing this with my 3070 X TRIO. Will the performance be just as scuffed?
Quite probably
If i get a GPU vertical mount bracket would that work? Then move it further from the glass, so the airflow is better?
Quite possibly
let me know what one works here..
Could you test a silly question ? How would it look if you put a rectangular mirror inside to show off the gpu ?
I'm afraid I can't do that. It's been ages since I had this setup.
Can i use a 10cm 90° cable for the 4000d
Airflow
So I'm considering this mounting position for my GPU with the 4000D but if I have a 3x fan GPU would it just be better to buy the 5000D?
no the 5000d is only slighty larger theres no other benefit from it
@@justcanaan Appreciate the reply thank you :3
@@El_Mouse np happy to help
You're supposed to screw in the vertical mount to the bottom of the case. You might had missed that as you put the card on the adaptor before putting the adaptor into the case.
Agree with you for such vertical mount, you'll want intake fans in front to bring in cool air, and put the cpu rad as exhaust on top.
Yes yes yes yes. I said most of this.
I baught a riser. It doesn’t work. The riser mounting holes are miles away from liking up with the pcie on the card.
im thinking of getting cablemod vertical bracket for my h510 elite
I have the same case, can I mount a zotac 1650 super twin fan vertically
Another great video
Thanks for watching
its possible make push n pull on the radiator in this Build ?
Nope
Your GPU is choking for air. This case is not big enough for that mounting position. If you’re watching this please don’t follow this advice for cases this size. Get a bigger one. His GPU will be baking after a while
Hence why the conclusion was not to...
I wonder if you can fit a fan in PSU tray, that would blow vertically, right into GPU. Perhaps that would require to mount a short PSU, for instance SFX with SFX-ATX bracket.
Maybe?
I just purchased this case and my 1080 Ti Aorus will not work vertically GPU mounted because the temps hit 90 and overheat. I had to open the panel for airflow. I wasn't happy at all.
Can i vertical mount my MSI rtx 3080 ventus 3x OC on Corsair 4000X????
Not recommended. The GPU will be too close to the Tempered glass, and it will literally cook itself as the 4000X has pretty sub-par airflow because of the Tempered Glass Front Panel.
Hi, this is for those who having compatibility issue - NO DISPLAY
CHANGE SETTING IN BIOS:
PCI-E x16 from AUTO to GEN 3
In my case works ASUS TUF GAMING X570 - PLUS WIFI and Powercolor Radeon 5700XT RX RED DEVIL
Going to try the set up with the 240 AIO up top and see if the thermals are better, going to take me a while though, can't get my hands on the ryzen 5900x currently....
I'd imagine they would be.
I wouldn’t do it because of the heat but that wobble is pretty bad too lol
The wobble was just user error. There's a screw in the box to mount it properly to the bottom.
Falto atornillar la base de la gráfica!!!
Mate you should do ASMR :D
Thanks for the breakdown.

I can only do videos on what I have.

pretty late to the video but i have a gigabyte vision 3080 in my 4000x and idk, its a chonky card. Really wanna vertical mount it but thinking its not a good idea now. (I do have the triple intake in front and the radiator on top tho)
Do you had to leave the case open when you put the gpu verticle?
If you watch you will see quite an increase in temps. Having the door off could help.
1:10 That GPU sag though... I understand why vertical mounting can be better than horizontal because of GPU sag, but definitely need the right case for it.
or you can just turn horizontal your whole pc case, it works too
