What he said as a outline is so damn true. At 21 I was running a hotel and the only reason I had success was because when things became so hard and extremely difficult I persevered through all the hardships. Everyone would always ask me why I do it and I should just quit but I didn’t and I was able to make so much money and learned what it takes to succeed in this world even when everyone doesn’t believe in you. I saw wisdom, courage, vision, determination and conscience all compounded in here. A truly born leader. 'A seat at at the table' is never given, it's earned.
Just heard this excellently conducted interview. Rich veins of intellectually stimulating, sage epithets effortlessly flow out of Chamath's mouth, littered with casual profanity for shock effect (and maybe to relate more with folks on the West coast?). Folks can choose to focus on the negatives - like his recent insensitive remarks about the Uyghurs' situation in China - or take the positives on how to generate assets or run a business for the long term, giving honest answers when asked a question and not forgetting your roots and ultimate purpose of life (i.e to give back to others and our planet). I do not agree with everything he said (eg. amass wealth quickly right now so that you can 'help' later) but there were numerous "Aha" moments for me while listening to this person. Thanks to Stanford GSB for sharing this with us!
The law of giving is life force energy that comes your way after the act, it’s karma in the spiritual realm. The more you give, the more you receive! it’s one of the best laws of the universe!
Yes and no. It often has the opposite effect actually, meaning the more you give of yourself the less you receive because you are often perceived as unworthy or not to be taking seriously, at least in my stuck-up country. I've been both completely selfish and selfless in my life, and although it always feels better to be selfless, it is when you're selfish that people acknowledge, respect you and flock to you. It should be the opposite but it's not. I think it has something to do with people loving challenges and their own need to go to someone else they perceive as worthy. It's a dirty game at the end of the day and nobody really cares unfortunately unless it's in their self-interest.
Chamath draws my memory back to 2018 when I first met Mrs Tracy Britt a well known bitcoin and stock exchange trader. She taught me the ethics of trading I know today. I met her at a conference alongside Cham in UCLA
Hey someone talked about researching and trading without professional guide...huh! I laughed at that, because you will remain where you are or even incur huge losses that will stop you from trading, this has been one of the biggest problems to new traders

40:40 “how do you keep that from corrupting you?” , excellent question which aged better than “I want the money”
Wow, this man spits out so much truth in such a raw and direct format, it is crazy. I don't understand why was the crowd laughing so much, because I assume many of those things he meant for real. There shoulf be more people willing to use their brain, and not letting others influence it. Oh and shout out to the moderator, she was brilliant.
Man what a guy... After so much time, I heard someone, who was just amazing yet very simple. Simple Personality, Simple Thoughts, Excellent Brain.
Watching this in 2021, he totally called how the world works and we are knee deep in shit. Get the money and make new rules!
He’s calling out open society foundation and how they are moulding the world as their ideology by buying media, politics, local Govt, movie industries, video games etc.
@@ugotserved911 I disagree. As he's stated, he's probably one of the few individuals who has witnessed what's behind the veil and boldly reported on what the top 1-5% are doing in order to control the masses. He made it clear that in our world not just our counties, those who control the money flow controls the narrative.
Street education teaches you to survive. Can anyone tell me what the point of higher learning is besides making money for businesses? The education I seek is to break my generational trauma not to join the rat race.
@@raykeziah4218 that’s exactly how open societies foundations operates. George soros. Charlie rose interview in 93. Rest is history. U know they own wikimedia. That is, Wikipedia. They fund john Hopkins. U know that hospitals pivotal role today every day at 8am and 12pm and 8pm. They also fund thomson Reuters and AP among others. George soros has a world view. He wrote a book about it. So like chamath said “why not” (putting it simply obviously ) soros also decided the same. Again, Charlie rose interview in the early 90s.
@@raykeziah4218 and to ur second point. Do it. Do it as fast as possible. The world is changing beneath our feet. Systems may change. U may never get a chance to escape the rat race in the future as that opportunity we take for granted in a capitalist society will soon be deemed a privilege only for a certain ruling class. Change is coming. Adapt or die right? Cheers. Wish u the best. Get that money!
@@ugotserved911 I didn't know that. Thank you and to your success as wellm Cheers!
One of the most inspirational and honest interviews. Chamath and Elon to me are the greatest leaders of our time.
What a great time to be a click away from Chamath interview. He's really awesome
Cheers to the moderator for being a smart and sensible one, and cheers to Chamath for giving so much insight for free here. This is the true value of youtube :)
Love all those spacs, that made investors really happy, thanks chamath
Chamath is just a talented speaker. Listeners can't help but get absorbed in his talking points like a sponge in water.
i’m definitely a fish swimming in his world views
His beliefs are solid. He even participated in the wall street bet. r/gme. He proved that the financial regulators are controlled by the people in power and is rigged against us normies. Lmaoo SEE CNBC. CNBC SUCK. Paid actors in Journalism. You can't trust joursnalist as they are bound to Rules and Regulations. Do a little research than following some dumb news agency.
Over 100 000 + foreigners know who this man is. But not at least 100 Sri Lankans ( Chamath's country ) don't know a thing about him. So sad !!
I agree with you hardly any Sri Lankan's knows about him, so sad
I hope to one day be able to give "gifts" in the ways he does.
Hope we can brother
@@RahulKumar-ng2gh You can gifts in a smaller way. We have bought clothes at Target and gave those away to a school district, give $5 tip to a server, there are so many ways to be generous. It's about scale.
Christopher you can start small. The gesture/thought matters more than the amount.
This guys is my new hero
Watching in 2021! Descriptive and engaging
When others fall away, that’s exactly when you double down and power through.
Capitalism is built on comparison and competition. Not necessarily healthy to have internally but if you lack these, you’ll never be able to truly thrive financially and rise above those in your age group at the very least
what are you doing now
26:13 "you have to decide how much of your intellectual independence you give up. And don't think 'oh not me im a f*cking genius I go to Stanford!' You're the _most_ likely to be f*cking fall for it. Because you've been checking box your whole God damn life. No offense guys"
As an undocumented immigrant, Chamath embodies everything that I ever want to achieve. He’s a force to be reckoned with. Thank you for inspiring me and for keeping it G.
reporting you to ICE.

I'm gonna save it and watch again and again
love all with the positive comments! this guy is what we need to do as earth dwellers. give jobs, give jobs, pay well. this African based woman did a great job at moderating. chamath is my intellectual son, I am so proud of you.
Listening this 10th time. Growing closer to fundamentals everytime :)
i am writing down notes
How brutally honest is this guy? Hard to find people like these.
Not sure if capitalism is the best way to go. However as far as using capital as a force for innovation and change, Chamath is a fucking legend. Time will tell if he can execute and bring positive change.
Cathie Wood and Chamath Palihapitiya will be the greatest investors of the 21 century.
Absolutely
@Mike F Because ARK , that's why.
More profound than that meets the eye! Very honest and an outlier!
@@True38 respects brother, if you have a chance check out the book the seven spiritual laws of success. It explains everything flawlessly!
Money can't buy happiness, but apparently it can buy the space and time needed to grow self confidence and self awareness.
Well...
@@frankjohnson6631 Already working with Tracy. This is my second month. She's quite Impressive I must say.

@Adorno Garcia I don't Invest an exact amount but I started off $1,400 the first time and reinvested $3000 this time yielding a profit of about 10-15% weekly
Wow. Stumbled across this interview. But it was a great listen.
Must be nice knowing this guy doesn’t care at all about the Uyghur Muslims since it’s “below” his line. He supports genocide and denies anything is even happening in China.
I was looking for the interviewers name. She did a great job, KUDOS
