3 difficult and hard problems any consumer product has to deal with...
    1) How do you get people in the front door.
    2) How do you get them to an aha moment as quickly as possible and
    3) How do you deliver a core product value as often as possible.

Surprise! We built this core technology and company 20 years ago and our updated digital product and business plan hasn't changed all that much. We just had to have the tenacity and courage to wait for the window to open And by golly we were tapping at every window and door we could think of to see if it would open. We went up against others, even Nestle (who bought their way into the deal and NEVER serviced their promise, btw). Our path to success is practically unheard of! But that courage and dedication is finally starting to pay off.

Who cares whether Chamath is likable or not! He is one of the most important speakers that we've had at a GrowthHackers Conference because we can all learn a ton from this guy. I don't think anyone can claim there is a more impressive growth story than Facebook has had. He and Alex Schultz are the guys who led the charge to make it happen. I personally love the passion with which he makes his points. The only thing I've ever heard him say that I didn't violently agree with is that "Growth Hacking is BS." But that's just an opinion about a term...

    • @seanellis1037

Justin - Except that I coined the phrase and I'm a marketer. Growth hacking is about taking a direct response marketing approach and applying it to every step of the customer journey. Us marketers have never been trusted to do that in tech companies. It requires a coordinated effort across multiple disciplines.

These guys confessing on record must be tried in court and given a timespan to rectify their mistakes failing to do so, should be put in jail. Look at what the world has come to, if u exploit / trick someone for a $100, u'll be arrested. Here are these shameless rich buggers claiming on record that they exploited millions and they are celebrated!.
If they do something substantial to mitigate and rectify their mistakes they can left free or even awarded, but if they fail they must be punished as they were responsible as they claim in the video for what social media has become today.
But I do appreciate what seems to be a change in his ways. But I can't fully trust him without further scrutiny.

I feel like this happened with the UA-cam algorithm. UA-cam doesn’t update the algorithm with anecdotes and gut feeling, they test ideas and if the metrics increase they implement them. Problem is they didn’t realize they were optimizing a decision from years ago. The algo team was stuck in this feedback loop for their product thinking they had analyzed to such an extent no one would have the resources to compete. Then Tiktok comes along and disrupts the industry. Now my UA-cam feed is flooded with 30 second clips as UA-cam updates the algo to compete. It’s annoying as fuck but I’m glad TikTok came along to disrupt because UA-cam’s algo was causing creators to appease the algorithm and it creates content that’s fucking similar and annoying. You have the algo team make updates and a million users creating trying to figure out what the algo wants. So is the algo team making something that the market actually wants or are they fooled due to creators doing a good job pumping the metrics. I think UA-cam had a good idea, it took off, they optimize the algo thinking every increase or decrease in metrics is a direct result when there are actually a million variables why retention and viewership is actually changing. Then TikToc slips in and BAM, fucking algo collapse. Complexity on complexity of “why the fuck does our algo promote this shit again?”.
