  • In this video, we take the RX1E electric motorcycle for a spin on the busy freeways of Los Angeles, California and see how far we can go in Comfort mode. The RX1E is a new electric motorcycle from CSC Motorcycles that promises to deliver speed, range and affordability. It has three modes of operation: Eco, Comfort and Sport. We chose Comfort mode because it offers a balance between performance and efficiency. We wanted to test the real-world range of the RX1E on the freeways and see how it handles different traffic conditions during rush hour. Watch us ride the RX1E and find out how much fun we had and how far we went.

Thanks for doing this video showing how the bike handles highway/interstate speeds. The range is still great. Between this and the first riding video you have shown this to be a real world usable electric motorcycle, which is what people want/need. Looks like you were having a lot of fun too!

Thanks for the positive feedback. It is an incredibly fun machine to ride. Handles like a proper motorcycle should.

I get taking the luggage off for weight savings and aero but if I'm going to highway commute on it I'd want to keep the luggage on and be hauling a laptop and some rain gear as well. Nice video though thanks.

Gosh I want this bike so bad, I gonna save up for it. I choose this too be my first motorcycle.

This is pretty impressive. Certainly adequate for normal commute work and you can actually go to work and run a few errands without running out of juice in the battery. I have purchased a lot of CSC motorcycles in the past and I am impressed with the value/quality. My latest is the RX4 and its better than most. Currently dreaming about the RX6 but will definitely track the RX1E.

I'm suprised you went over 30mph on an L.A. Freeway. You should try it on a Tuesday at 3am so you can actually move. Did Eddy Grant buy one of your bikes? Or did he just donate his song?

Would be curious to know the range at a steady 70 mph. According to your GPS, your top speed was 68 mph and your average speed was 36.1 mph. That might be freeway speeds for LA but not real freeway speeds.

I really want one of these. I outgrew the TT250 and wanted to get more capable in dirt, so I had to look elsewhere for a cheap dualsport. There will come a day when I can afford an RX1E so I don't have to commute on knobby tires or feel the air-cooled engine on a 115 degree day.
An RX1E is going to seem like a rocket! I am also eager to sneak through the desert on one.

Can’t wait till they get here. Any chance you can give a closer look at that charger set up? I’m curious about it as I may look into charging at work as well as home. Hoping that picking up a second charger will become an option.

Yes, we will posts some close up pics of the charger on the CSC Facebook page. Look in the comments under this same video there. Yes, we plan to have a supply of chargers available.

Looks fun! Good highway range. Is the City Slicker discontinued?

    Serious inquiry:
Can the CSC RX-1E handle a daily 1 hour (each way) highway commute?
Some city streets, on and off of the highway, but a large portion at highway speeds (65 - 70mph), recharging while doing a regular workday (8 - 9hrs) and riding same route back home.

In comfort mode (65mph) on the freeways surrounding Los Angeles we are achieving slightly under 1 mile per percent of battery consumed.
60 miles at 65mph should not be a problem.
Give us a shout (1-800-884-4173). We would love to provide more details about our tests and results. We are very pleased with the capabilities of the RX1E.

I'd like to see a comparison between the RX1E and a Suzuki Burgman 400 or Yamaha XMAX. Can you do a video on the RX1E in a cold city like Boise or Denver as a four season rider.

What speed do you recomend keeping it on the freeway for best range? really thinking about getting one, will probably just find a good speed and put on cruise controll

Are you allowed to pass cars straddling lanes like that? Reminds me of guatemala. Thought it was illegal in the states
