@@TheLawnCareNut I call it lawn pollution & wicked evil run off. I've never in my life seen so many products used in my life. How much of this is cash to trash ratio and cash to evil run off ratio??? Any scientific mathematics on those facts yet ?
Around 7:45 we get a eye level view of the lawn. I noticed your mower blade is sharp. Nice clean tips sir. Point out the positive does that make you positive? Point out the negative does that make you negative? Hmmm. I want to thank you for igniting this passion/bug/sickness LOL into my life Allyn. I am really enjoying the community and all the learning!!
This year I've been totally into my twice per week mowing. I use a battery mower on Saturday morning, then edge. Then I come back on Wednesday with a reel mower in a different direction, then edge. I"m a full lawn care nut!
Raphael I mowed my grass Friday and I had to mow it again today!!
👊👍
Battery and reel, that is awesome!
You should do some drone shots and flyovers comparing lawns and showing results of products

Dude, I can’t get enough of your content. It just keeps getting better and better. I have tried to film things for different uses. I have limited experience editing etc. but I know how much work it is. Your a real natural behind the camera. Keep it coming! Many, many thanks!
3 things we have in common 1 love a beautiful lawn 2 I am a photographer and 3 love a good stogie at the end of the day. Love your info thanks
That's a good easy mathematical way for most people to remember the measurements on the sprayer. Your typical homeowner's don't know those simple math analogies of how the measurements of the sprayer works thanks for explaining that for a lot of people.
Those Hydretain demos blow my mind every time. I remember the one you did with the plugs a while back. Great product.
it's pretty cool for sure!
Your content has been a Godsend for me. I love the Lawncare guide ebook you sent me. I recently had a new irrigation system installed and boy did it wreak havoc on my lawn. Bald spots, surgery lines etc. Any suggestions around that Al?
I just put down Air8 the day before yesterday, then RGS and MicroGreene yesterday. We've got 1.5" of rain in the part of Tulsa I live in, so I'm looking forward to the results!
I did the same in Edmond. I hope this morning's storm washed it in but I suspect a lot washed away. My lawn program has been on hold all year due to these storms. Looks like I timed the first big app of the year a couple days too early :(
Good to see Tulsa in the comments!
@@blakekeeton4487 What up!
@@koomo801 I hope that's not what happened... I'm only maintaining a 1.2k ft front yard with this stuff right now, so if I need to re-apply, I will, but I'm going give it a few weeks to see if the iron greens it up. Then, hopefully, I'll know from that.
Glad your Son is home and getting his chef skills in Chicago! They learn some fine arts cuisine there. All this is going on while you are ground pounding in 90° plus days on the lawn... (LCG) Lawn Care Grunts! Hoorah!... But really proud of you and him for being an intact military family, that take grit! You got it Sir Allen. Shout out from the midwest, Hooah!!!
Thank you !! Cheers!
Great suggestion to fill tank with water after adding the solution. I use an Ortho sprayer and put in enough solution to cover 2,000 sq ft and fill the rest with water. I set my sprayer at 6 ounces and then spray horizontally across the lawn and then vertically over 2,000 square feet sections. The cross-coverage ensures even distribution, and the tank is emptying out as I finish.
I feel like I went to science & math class all within 21 minutes & owe you tuition!
Received my Hydretain the other day. It did indeed smell like success, and I haven’t even opened the bag yet.
thrower down!
I can’t get enough of your AWSOME videos and info
Allyn, you gotta try REVIVE over Hydretain. About 1/3 of the price, has iron and has saved my lawn in the summer heat for the last two seasons I've used it. Comes in a liquid or granules and customer service is FANTASTIC. After emailing them, I use 32oz of Revive in an ortho hose end sprayer. No dilution, just fill to 32oz mark , set to 4oz and covers 1,000 sq feet. Helps to green up the lawn with the iron and allows water to penetrate the soil AND the price can't be beat compared to Hydretain. Be well, love your podcast too! Tony
I have heard of them - def worth looking at! thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the Hydration topic! I just applied some to my front lawn... thanks for your families services
I used milo for a couple years and love. This year I switched to screamin green. OMG best fert I've ever used!!!!
The lawn looks beautiful, you wonderful nut!

Hey Allyn. When your son helps you film this week, drop the rear wheels one notch lower in the rear for the HRX for better cut quality. It will even out the factory rake compared to when all notches are same.
Good advice. Interesting for sure ! You're not setting me up for disaster are you? 😅
The Lawn Care Nut never sir. You always gave us great advice. Also, commented to Castleberry about using a hose end foam cannon for next products. The cannon used for auto detail. Have a great time with your son!👍👍⛱🍹☀️

Lawn looks awesome, thank you for sharing. I always get so much out of your videos. 👍👍😁😁
I just did my first blackout of this here in Texas. I had been doing 3oz per 1k once a month but the heat was doing a number on the grass so I did 20oz per 1k with some liquid revive on top and WOW the results were amazing. I think I'll be doing one more in July since I love the greening without the top growth.
thrower down!
I got a bottle of Hydretain and sprayed it on my lawn. I live on a corner lot and it's kind of a pain in the ass to water in the summer. The small tests you've done with it are impressive as hell.
Agreed. It surprised me too. Cool stuff and a Florida based company which I like.
First. I love the results you show from the Micro Green during your blackout periods.
AvE fan here too. I see you picked up some of Connor's dine and dash plants.
That’s awesome I have ordered your cool season guide and Bio-stim pack, My lawn loves you, I am a true believer of N-EXT products, and your tips and methods,
hoorah! thanks bro
So, you water in your Micro Green right after you apply it? I thought it was supposed to sit on the blades of the grass because it works as a foilage application.
Am I understanding this wrong?
It’s like you read my mind. I was just wondering about some dark green up.
Lawncare nut I was thinking you Ryan Knorr and Connor Ward should have a three way fun competition. All of you decide what type/brand and purchase a manual reel mower (same type so it is equal) then pick a section of you yard for the competition. (Side lawn whole front whatever you like) who ever is able to get the best looking lawn with that mower wins! It will truly be on each of you to perform your best not just how well the mower does. Then the subscribers can vote! At the very least I think a lot of people would watch that series I know I would!!!
Lcn wouldnt win by default you shouldnt cut saint Augustine lower then 3.5 inches. I scalped mine at 2.5 inches and literally felt the grass ask me why I would perform such heinous acts.
I’m definitely seeing longer color retention form Carbon-X ... it also kicks in a little slower 👍🏻
Love the tank cleaning trick with Air8. Lawn is looking great!!
Thanks bro

He is an expert edger too!
Can you use the micro green with superjuice?
Perfect timing! Just did my micr8 combo app Friday. Great update!
Good evening, Thank you so much for your help! I will try these!
I waa going to comment that putting that Hydretain treated potted plant next to the A/C compressor would dry it out quicker because of the heat from the compressor. However, because the treated plant looked better than the nontreated plant that speaks well for the Hydretatin even more so. Nice demonstration, Allyn!
Even better then ha ha !
Hydretain sent me some product to use as well. I'll be putting it on half my backyard and the other half untreated to see how it compares. Video coming soon.
Awesome... Just what I needed! Be well and stay encouraged!!!

I think my wife thinks I have a lawn obsession. Started watching your videos this spring. Purchased the cool season guide, biostim pack and carbon x. Would you reccomend green effect and micro green prior to fert apps? Thanks for the videos!
you are ready to spray and pray for sure! If you are applying fert like Milo or CarbonX, you can spray down Air8 on top to help everytihng settle into the soil. RGS and Humic12 are also good in conjunction with fert apps. MicroGreene can be used between apps to extend the color. Here are some more ideas: drive.google.com/file/d/10a_eARmRFPPRU1PP9Bre1hJY2Brt-PMN/view
I’m sure by now it’s been posted, but air 8 is the one next product you can’t tank mix. It’s not that it won’t mix, it’s that air8 uses a long process to get it to a very specific ph. If you change the ph, you don’t get the bond breaking performance. Not sure on the science, but he’s a smart dude, so he probably based it on average city water ph. I believe it’s slightly caustic 👍🏼
Would CarbonX add any value at the time of reseeding? I've got about a 500 sqft patch that I will be killing off and reseeding this fall with TTF and KBG and really want to give it every advantage. Thanks! I've been a weekly LCN watcher for a few years now. Your tips have made a huge difference to both my lawn and myself.
what is ttf and kbg?
Can I add some additional iron along with this product?
Can you tell me how often you run sprinklers please?

After putting out Milorganite in mid April I applied Scotts Green Max in the middle of May. Boy....did the combo work well. Nice healthy green lawn(centipede). Suppose to be able to apple all seasons except winter so may reapply early July. I'm located in central MS fwiw.
Thick lawn with little to no weeds is mainly all I care about. Greener is a bonus, but Im slowly turning into a lawn weirdo so who knows later on lol
Can you use the 0-0-2 micro green with the new Double Dark granular?
“Skookum as frig...”. A fine Canadian expression.
Ah yes, it’s an AvE expression I see on your T-Shirt. Makes sense - he lives near me. The trades around here have a particular vocabulary fans of that channel would find recognizable.

Definitely awaiting the detailed instruction/review of the Chameleon hose end sprayer (what I currently have) and the Chapin.. I usually set my Chameleon on the 1 or 2 oz setting and take my time...?

LCN, any way you can make a video with tips for us Southern Californians with bluegrass/ rye/ fescue mix lawns?
Why haven't you switch to a Bermuda, St Augustine, or another warm season grass. Definitely would save you water money for more fert. Plus reduce water usage. Just a suggestion.
You should check out Allyn’s protege, Jake the Lawn Kid, on UA-cam. He has a cool season lawn and has a lot of great advice in his videos. Allyn’s older videos when he lived in Indiana, is also a cool season lawn. They are also worth checking out. Also, his Lawn Care Guide for Cool Season Lawns is helpful. I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area, following all their advice and the downloaded guide has made a huge difference in our lawn. Also Allyn’s reviews on mowers made me realize I had the wrong kind of mower for my lawn. I watched all his mower reviews, which helped me understand what to look for when I decided to get a new mower.
I imagine because of the lack of humidity. We get a lot of heat, but no rain, and no humidity compared to the Mid and Eastern Southern states. We typically don’t see rain until November.
@@minoutv7347 California is a different animal I think. But if I was in southern California, I would definitely be go with a warm season turf
Czr S It’s a crapshoot at best for that area. I looked up the zone chart, while Warm Season Lawns are recommended for areas 11-12, so is Tall Fescue KY-31, which is what we have. Going through the severe drought, with severe water restrictions, we watered once every 10-12 days, our KY-31 stayed somewhat green while other lawns went completely brown. When watering restrictions were lifted, it came right back. The best thing to do for that area is to look at what is growing well in the immediate area, neighbors lawns, parks, business complexes. And, if you are able to talk to some gardeners in the area who went through the drought we had three years ago, ask them how their lawns survived with severe water restrictions.
Before I knew anything about lawn care, I got duped into buying a bag of super juice. I still have about 3/4 of the bag left. Do you think I would harm anything by loading up my bare spots with it in the dry form (then watering it in)? My bermuda isn’t filling in the bare spots very fast so I was thinking it might be a good way to make use of my $80 purchase without having to go through the trouble of mixing and spraying it.
I would at least mix it in a bucket of water and dump it that way
The Lawn Care Nut Will do, thanks!
Wow! How often to apply hydretain to maintain during the summer months?
hi ,where do you bought these product .?
Nice! I will definitely be putting down some of that MicroGreene. Thanks!
Does Air8 interfere with your layer of Prodiamine ?
No you are all good there. Feel free to spray away.
Totally addictive to lawn care
It's important to note that your setting of 4 works with your water supply's pressure only (flow rate, actually) - someone elsewhere with a different flow rate will have to do some trial and error.
Same goes with the Ortho Dial-n-spray...there's really no easy way for homeowners to convert "x ounces per 1000 sqft" to "okay, what now". You have to do some experiments. In the end though, if you know you need some number of ounces delivered to your particular yard area, you have to just ensure that you have used up all of it at the end...as a result, walk quickly first, and judge whether you should slow down or speed up based on what's left in the cannister.
Hey Al, how hard do you think you'd be dominating at your last home, or even the one in Indiana now that you have GCF products in your toolbox?
Pretty hard I bet.
First! Great work. Do you think the south Texas sun and dry heat would hurt the grass if it's darker?
No just keep it irrigated
Thanks a lot. Just got a new house and with help from you, I'll be making the neighbors sick. 😉 Keep up the great work.
Add a hydretain tag to this video. Even more impressive is the plant with Hydretain was sitting right next to your central air that was probably dumping heat on it.
Another great vid. Thank you, and thank you to your son.
When will you be able to ship these products to Idaho I really want to use this products. I am currently using similar stuff just not green country fert products it's very frustrating to see other companies stuff available in Idaho please let me know please
I bought some Humic/Fulvic/Kelp blend and also some Sodium Laurly Sulfate powder from ebay. It's very cheap to use it this way. Paid maybe 30 bucks for all that stuff, and it's probably enough to last a few years.
Sounds like fun
Rewatched this video, glad to see you have FiOS, but you have the old 612 ONT, you need to get upgraded equipment.
God damn I love your lawn it looks amazing and reminds me a little of my buffalo lawn here in sydney!
Hey Allyn, I just got the Chapin pro hose end sprayer. I used it to put down 64oz of Air8 over 12,000 that was a job. Sprayer worked well, but when you swing back and forth it also twists the spray pattern, kind of a pain. I'm going to see if I can come up with a removable wedge to stop it. Otherwise it worked great, sprayed well, no clogs with the screen in. Waiting for your review. Happy 4th!! Have a stogie and a mow! Peace...out! Ken.
I'll be testing it this week myself. Thank you for the tip !!
Is fall also ok for a liquid iron treatment?
Oh damn you finally have CarbonX in stock! Just ordered a bag! For future concerns is this how it will be when it comes to stock?
Will hydretain help with an irrigated lawn that gets regular watering? Not sure if its necessary with an irrigation system.
Spray and pray! Hydrotain is no joke. Pretty cool!
Was Carbon X discontinued? I can't find it anywhere.
I was a bit skeptical about this stuff. After stunting a portion of my lawn with Celsius i could not get it to bounce back for no money or effort in the world. I was about to resod before i decided to give Nxt products a try. Air 8, Humic12 and RGS every two weeks at 6 ounce and i can litterally see every week the change. I waited for summer heat and try to spray before a rain session. I am a believer now and wil buy some to stock up just in case there is some shortagr or something
👊🤘
Using GreeNe EfFect 7-0-0 in the summer here. I already have the other stuff down in the soil via Humic DG, RGS and Humic 12. Maybe next go round I'll try the 0-0-2.
Hey Allyn, when can we buy NEXT products in Cali? I bought them last year but this year has been a no go.
It’d be cool if on the before video when you apply anything you walk down with camera on the left side of the yard and after a week or so on your next video you walk down the right side and as your doing so you add in the clip of the before video to show a comparison and kinda half screen it. I’m not sure if it can work that way (I’m no edit expert) but that’d be cool.
Ps. I believe you can do that
It's hard to tell if the effect was more product, or partial shade vs. full sun. The "after" segment shows the Hydretain plant partially shaded by the A/C compressor, while the very stressed plant was in full sun. The sun variable may be significant if there is a lot more direct sun on the control plant than the treated plant over two days. If Allen repeats the test with the treated plant on the right and the control on the left with the same result, then it would support that Hydretain made the difference, and not the shady area vs. sunny area.
AC unit suck moisture out of the hydretain plant putting more stress on it. Yet it still remained hydrated. The stuff works. We used it when I was working for ChemLawn toon
Greetings, thank you
Just did another round of DD yesterday
we need more info about how higher pH lawns/irrigation water impairs absorbtion of nutrients by plants, iron especially so.
Anyone ever find iron doesnt green up root or foliar? You probably have a pH of 7.5 or above....yep 7.5 doesn't seem so high does it?
This is the reason LCN has citirc acid in the spray (as a chealator aid) it helps bring the pH below 7.5 for a foliar spray.
when is the video of the Chapin hose end sprayer coming out?
I wish i could buy just (1) 1 gallon, or (1) 2.5gallon container of any of the NEXt products. A $30 bill here and there is a lot nicer than a $70-100 for me.
I get that it's not near the ROI when packing, just a bummer for us sometimes :D
16:32 just so you guys know that HDX bucket prob started out clear...
Bro, what’s the reason I can’t get Next products in Oregon? Need to smuggle a few kilos in
joeh1818 “People” in charge of your state.
John Myers yeah I get that and unfortunately those people only care about the interests of Portland vs the rest of Oregon. That aside I’m more curious of the specific rule/law/ordinance that restricts The Next products. We obviously have other fertilizers available but why is this one not allowed?
Im in the same situation in WA. Sucks... Anyone have success with an alternative?
Pretty sure it has to do with heavy metal content or testing.
@@Shaun878 how about using Plant tone? I use it on my lawn. I reside on the east coast. Not sure if will work in your area.
Is this product ok to use on tall fescue in Oklahoma lawn
sure is, all good.
Rainy season? Surely you jest. It's been super dry and I have the dead spots and dry irrigation pump to prove it. I have put 1/2 gallon of Hydretain and I believe it's saved a large part of my yard. It's essential along the concrete, i.e gutter, driveway & walkways, as those areas heat up and dry out first.
Depends on location.... common sense man

It's pretty cool for sure
Put down malorganite before rain. it rained 4 days and my yard had mushrooms! Now that the sun came out I mowed and it looks almost burnt? Fungus? It didnt seem to green it up at all. More brown now.
What kind of turf?
I hear ya godfather that milorganite doesn’t even come close to the carbon X . If you start pushing that carbon X the way you did with milo ,
Matt is going to have to round up a whole lot of chickens. Great video as always
what do you think about using a Hozon Siphon Mixer to add chem to my lawn
Cool concept but over my head
Love the AvE references.
what height did you mow at?
How can I move down there? Lake Effect in western New York sucks
Is the liquid app a better deal with the rain than a granular? We're getting like 7 inches in one day rain, and it just seems like it's washing out any granular application. I haven't yet tried the liquids, but am planning to invest soon. Last year we struggled for water and I was irrigating regularly, so I had a decent granular slow release that dominated.
Liquid gets in the soil quicker for sure. But with 7" of rain you would still want to wait.
great video, but can you please get to work on how to stop or suppress zoysia grass that has invaded my beautiful blue grass, thanks to a old neighbor that no longer there, that stuff should be illegal
