Dawes - When My Time Comes (Live from the Rooftop)
- I’ve sung this song so many goddamn times and you would think I’d be another cliche guy-in-band that wants to tell you how the thrill is gone and I don’t wanna sing it anymore. But I’ve always felt the audience made it feel like the first time every time. Might sound corny but I mean it. Every time a room lights up w the final chorus I feel a deep gratitude I don’t get from anything else in quite the same way…but all that made it tricky to sing this song to no one on a roof. But I think it was the memory of all the shows we had under our belt, all the memories of this song and all the future times that felt threatened all the sudden that made this feel supercharged. I hope you can hear it somewhere in there.
Dawes is:
Taylor Goldsmith - guitar, primary vocal
Wylie Gelber - handmade bass

Trevor Menear - guitar

Same bro
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to this song before, brilliant!
This band should be so much bigger
the mixing on this is absolutely superb. kudos to whoever mixed this (and incredible performance!).
1. Are we able to buy the full show somewhere? 2. I like how Trevor looks like he just rolled in off his bass boat.
Both guitarist are playing fingerstyle. Oh yeah. Lose the pick, people.
No auto tune forever! I'll never tire of your Laurel Canyon sound!
Beautiful. I’ve never listened to (or even heard of Dawes). I was reading an article about actress Mandy Moore and looked to see who her husband is. Taylor Goldsmith has a beautiful voice. I will definitely look for more music.
it’s insane the amount of amazing songs they have
I love this song so much… thank you for this moment.
Hey guys!! I've heard you yesterday in México and you are Amazing!!!
Love the passion in his voice. Amazing song. Can’t stop listening to it.
There's a new band on my faves list. Wow
I just saw you yesterday in Monterrey opening for The Killers
you were awesome guys
I just discovered this song a few months back and I have no idea why I had never heard it. I still don't know.... It's fucking brilliant
I love this song!!! Hope you will come to germany - then my time comes
Saw them in Berlin 2 years ago
Most songs are just simply not better recorded live, this was an extreme exception. Way better than the production version.
I can't begin to count how many times I've lost my voice singing this song at Dawes shows. It's why I now always have cough drops at their shows- so I can sing for the whole concert. If you have not seen them live, Go! They are as good as it goets. A new tour starts in March of 2023 and tix are around $40. It's one of, it not the best deal in rock and roll right now. They also have an amazing and very welcoming fan base. You can make friends in the GA queue before they even open the venue.
Everybody needs to experience this song live.
Echo that!!!! Saw it with Marcus Mumford singing with them. Feels like yesterday.
Past few times I’ve seen them live they haven’t played it
✓
A cover band of my friend's plays this live. They play it like this and it's just so incredibly moving. (I'm not comparing them to Dawes but instead testifying to the song's power)
It's Dawes' anthem. Nothing like being in a show with 500+ singing the chorus in unison!
This is all so beautiful!
Anybody else want to hear the Boss Bruce Springsteen sing this song with dawes? I feel his spirit in the way Taylor is gunning for those chorus notes.
Outstanding song, vocals an music. Love these guys!!!!

This song recharges me so much
Que duro suena en vivo super fresca 👌🏻❤️❤️❤️ i love it
That vocal is a little harder in your 30's .
Was just thinking how it probably kind of sucked for them because they’re so used to the crowd doing the work on that.
No auto tune is beautiful. Lay it all out there, leave it on the field until you can't. Vocalists can make adjustments later in their careers, so I expect the guys to crank a good while longer.
...is this that sweet Laurel Canyon Sound all the cool kids are talking about?
I absolutely LOVE this song ❤️
Saw them play in Guadalajara, awesome band!
Such a beautiful song. Keep singing it!
What a band... Timeless
makes me teary eyed every time…sheesh
Got some Springsteen in there :)
I'm in f*cking love With this song since I heard it first time before The Killers in México, guys! Your live shows r amazing!!!!!!
Would love to hear you beautiful guys share this on Skid Row. Great song! Thank you .
Talk about killer chorus and interesting lyrical content! Top song!
Hi babies, i saw you in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, i love u guys! And too love The Killers
Have only just discovered this amazing band. Are we that backward in Aussie land. My apologies.
How do you get this sound on a rooftop.
Saw it live at Moon River in Chattanooga front row, will never forget the energy of the crowd shouting the chorus at the top of their lungs. Keep rocking!
I do software testing. "Anyone who's making anything new only breaks something else" made this instantly my theme song.
Not ever band can match a "Born to Run", but you sure did! Studio, Live, in my mind--always a hit!
What's that Gibson he's play. Fire it'd? Love the sound.
Try as I may, I'll never be able to hit that note in the chorus the way Taylor does.
What Rooftop?
Love this song
Well done.
dawesome
I had never seen them live…he clearly means it…every last syllable. It gives you hope.
Great band!
GUYS COME ON.
Better and Better... Thanks for the ride!
Taylor channeling The Boss!!!!! FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why am i seeing that tele and not hearing it!?
This. Is. An. Awesome Song !!
Very jealous of the coodercaster
Damn. I love this band.
Lindo demais
I love these guys.
Great mix
I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to this song because it was my introduction to Dawes so so long ago. That being said I can look past some of the vocal variations in the verses but god damn Taylor can still hit the notes when it matters! Love hearing these guys and can't wait to see what's next.
Bravo 👏
superb!
Love
The journey this band has taken is far away from the heart and soul they used to have. I used see them 5-6 times a year, basically as much as possible. In the past 4 years they have drifted away from the musical/songwriting perfectionists they were. Makes me very sad to see what they are now (care more about physical impressions and dramatics than the pure musical joy they had earlier in their career). PLEASE FIND YOUR TRUE HEART AND SOUL AGAIN!! Where did it go?!? I know you have more to give! Don’t let others influence your musical heart!!!
Are you ok ? WTH
Write some new stuff man
jeez Taylor.... maybe go a bit less "overboard" on the high notes next time.... I love the song, but this was a bit too much...
Good gravy that’s a bulls#it comment.
@@FromTheRightAngle no need to be nasty, I have the right to voice an opinion
buildup of vanity. worst version of this song ever
