I never liked Rock and Roll , but this is Awesome !!! I am 64yrs old and this music makes me want to shout ! Come on everyone....This is the NEW GENERATION. let them shine their LIGHTS TO THOSE WHO ARE WALKING IN DARKNESS .. PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.
Revisiting this after 3-4 years, it still sounds great! A throwback to solid musicianship and thoughtful songwriting, lyrics and harmony. Bravo! Reminds me of The Band.
I thought the same thing when i first heard them, and they kind of took it in a different direction as their careers went on. Which i respect, but their later stuff doesn't speak to me as much. That said, their musicianship and talent has always been top notch. Taylor is a great lyricist as well.
As a 74 yr. old w/m, I've seen and heard a lot of music, checked these guys out because of today's L.A. Times article. Verdict...this one good f*****n band!
well i'm only 65, saw elvis, the beatles on ed sullivan. saw jimi 3 times. grew up in san francisco in the 60s. i too have seen and heard a lot of music. these guys are good.
This song popped up on one one of my recommend playlists. I had a similar reaction seven years after you had yours. This is one of my go-to feel good songs.
Me too guys, me too ... I really don't think I've ever heard anything so amazing in my entire life, and I spend all day discovering new songs every day...
Music could be the most important thing in the world to me. Not necessarily just rock 'n roll. So I feel might ears are always open to discover new musical experiences. A Facebook posting from Levon Helm's wife led me to this song. I was unexpectedly floored. To quote BB King "Mighty young to be writing such heavy lyrics" And the music is fabulous. And like I've posted before whomever shot, edited and directed this concert did a really nice job and they should be commended for bringing this band to life, visually. Because it is true what another person posted; the crowd sucks. I watch this and I feel like I'm watching greatness in the making. Hopefully I'll see them for myself in the future
I think this is still the one Dawes song that expresses their sound best. Insistent harmonies, driving bass, Taylor's compelling intensity... this is my favorite band.
@2015beast Exactly. It's Dawes. You want a fuckin moshpit? If you look at Skynyrd's performance of Tuesday's Gone in '76 or '77, you don't see the crowd moshing or jumping around. Just a general respect and understanding of great music.
Super lyrics, harmonies, delivery, guitars and drums, and evrything else, Dawes has arrived. I'm a believer.....Do your friends you really love a favor and shoot a link to this song so they can be astonished too!
this is awesome. The reason there are not more views is that it is so good. Music this good is never as popular as you think it should be. This guy reminds me of Alex Chilton.
This has been one of my favorite songs for the past few years and hearing it live just made me fall in love with it even more. What an incredible performance. Sounds even better live than on the record.
If you go to tentth row's website, they bagged it in 2009, there's no new posts, the site is still up though, just no new entries....RIP 2009 6/29/2011 Digging Dawes-Noyhing Is Wrong' 6/7/2011
Los vi hace unos meses en el Centro Niemeyer en Aviles y escuche su disco nuevo y son buenisimos.. me encanta el Rock and Roll americano que hacen.. tienen Futuro..
Who filmed this? its amazingly well shot, in my city and my favorite music venue. Whoever did needs to shoot more Rock and Roll Hotel shows. Fill me in.
Sorry to be late to the party on Dawes.. Didn't know they existed till I saw them perform this incredible anthem on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Recorded it on a Hi-Def DVR and it's never coming off. How long has it been since an emerging 4-man band sounded this good live? Maybe U2 at the dawn of the '80s?
There were moments of dreams I was offered to save I lived less like a workhorse More like a slave I thought that one quick moment That was noble or brave Would be worth the most of my life So I pointed my fingers And shouted few quotes I knew As if something that's written Should be taken as true But every path I had taken And conclusion I drew Would put truth back under the knife And now the only piece of advice that continues to help Is anyone that's making anything new only break something else When my time comes Oh oh oh oh When my time comes Oh oh oh oh So I took what I wanted And put it out of my reach I wanted to pay for my successes With all my defeats And if Heaven was all That was promised to me Why don't I pray for death? Now it seems like the unravelling Started too soon Now I'm sleeping in hallways And I'm drinking perfume And I'm speaking to mirrors And I'm howling at moons While the worse and the Worse that it gets Oh you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's starin' right back When my time comes Oh oh oh oh When my time comes Oh oh oh oh Well you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's starin' right back When my time comes Oh oh oh oh When my time comes Oh oh oh oh When my time comes Oh oh oh oh
@Ritscheman no germany and usa should join together under president ron paul. it could be called "germerica" or "americany" and we would live happily ever after
i dont even look at the dislikes unless some fucking kid points it out in the comments, who cares about that 1 person? just listen and dont let the dislike bar annoy you haha thats rediculous
best song in the last 10yrs

Man, I'm 55, I hope that I can live long enough and work hard enough to write a song this transcendent. This is High Art people.
Been almost a decade since your post. I hope you did just that! ❤️👊🏼
You can do it brother.
Revisiting this after 3-4 years, it still sounds great! A throwback to solid musicianship and thoughtful songwriting, lyrics and harmony. Bravo! Reminds me of The Band.

Jesus I knew about these dudes 9 years ago but didn't give them the chance they deserved until the last few years. I wish I would have
When a band sounds just as good or better live it shows that they don't pull any bullshit in the studio. This band is the real deal. Bravo.
As a 74 yr. old w/m, I've seen and heard a lot of music, checked these guys out because of today's L.A. Times article. Verdict...this one good f*****n band!
How are you doing all these years later?
ATO has by far the best artists under their label, Dawes, My Morning Jacket, Drive by Truckers, Ben kweller just to name a few
Best band in the past decade. Excellent.
well i'm only 65, saw elvis, the beatles on ed sullivan. saw jimi 3 times. grew up in san francisco in the 60s. i too have seen and heard a lot of music. these guys are good.
William Baldwin I envy you!!
I will never forget how hard this song hit me the first time I heard it.
This song popped up on one one of my recommend playlists. I had a similar reaction seven years after you had yours. This is one of my go-to feel good songs.
Me too guys, me too ... I really don't think I've ever heard anything so amazing in my entire life, and I spend all day discovering new songs every day...
Just found out about this band through Live From Here minutes ago. Lyrics, musicianship, and heart all on full display here.
As did I yesterday evening. Fantastic along each parameter you list.
A decade old. But they still got it. Can't wait to see them live. I missed them when they last passed through my town.
He's flawless live....this is tripping me out.
I seen these guys in a dive in Dallas tx. They opend & closed with this song.
Opened and closed?!?!
+Jack Ward yea.. It's was rad. Made me wonder why more bands don't do that. Ha
cant understand why thisband didnt get more attention....WXPN thank you

Wow, it's been a long time since a song has hit me this hard. Count me as a permanent fan.
I think this is still the one Dawes song that expresses their sound best. Insistent harmonies, driving bass, Taylor's compelling intensity... this is my favorite band.
They're pros. They love their craft, they work at it, and they're good at it. Too many bands/artists don't have those qualities.
@2015beast Exactly. It's Dawes. You want a fuckin moshpit? If you look at Skynyrd's performance of Tuesday's Gone in '76 or '77, you don't see the crowd moshing or jumping around. Just a general respect and understanding of great music.
Actual music,WOW
This song, this live, everyting perfect here and even better than the studio version, just the purest manifestation of art
Super lyrics, harmonies, delivery, guitars and drums, and evrything else, Dawes has arrived. I'm a believer.....Do your friends you really love a favor and shoot a link to this song so they can be astonished too!
so did i. they stood there. so fun to watch
Best version
I love this band
NEVER gets old.
somehow I imagined these guys being older. Their sound is mature and polished. good stuff.
"I have seen them 7 times, they RULE!!!" - Adam J. Berti
A brilliant band
this is awesome. The reason there are not more views is that it is so good. Music this good is never as popular as you think it should be. This guy reminds me of Alex Chilton.
this video should have OVER 9000 VIEWS!!!
Just saw these guys in Boston. Awesome. So awesome.
This has been one of my favorite songs for the past few years and hearing it live just made me fall in love with it even more. What an incredible performance. Sounds even better live than on the record.
Holy cow. I heard this first on Public Radio and could not believe my ears.
A friend just said: You got to here this band.... He was right, very nice! Lyrics are good, groove, kick back music. I like it!
Lordy how I love them and this song
Muy buenos los vi ayer en Aviles en el Centro Niemeyer con Jackson Browne y me encataron!!
Me encantan Dawes y Jackson Browne tambien
I LOVE THIS BAND AND THIS SONG!!!
Great song, awesome lyrics
Everyone should put this on Facebook so their friends who know nothing about music can finally learn about it. I did.
wow what a great song!
BONNAROOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT
Very cool! Awesome live performance.
starting at 2:19 to 2:34, his vocals give me shivers!
Natural talent.
dude, i mixed for these guys tonight at casbah in san diego. so good. and yeah the album doesn't do them justice. so powerful live.
You still engineering? That was a lucky show you got to run house for!
just beautiful !!
EXACTLY! it's sooooo close!
That crowd ovation should’ve been so much louder, they crushed that song
...agreed. The crowd kinda sucked.
wow he nails that note every time
amazing!!

He puts so much oomph into the second verse... sick
Live > Studio for this song! (Plus the drummer's funny faces hahahaha)
Very nice version of this song. I saw these guys in Knoxville last year and they sound teriffic live.
This is why I always have cough drops in my pocket at a Dawes show.
Dawed Damme! I should have been there!
Excellent song, sounds like Im hearing the dobie brothers for the first time!!!! When they sing in harmony!!!
Props on that mad solo at the end, didnt see it comig,, great everything

The drummer looks at his drums like I look at pies and wonder "who will be eaten first?"
cant wait to see this band at the folkfestival in rhode island. Fuck. im so exited
Excellent song, sounds like Im hearing the dobie brothers for the first time!!!!
Positively inspired lyric.
I swear I heard this song on a TV show about a month ago. Like a scifi series. any info would be helpful! Love the song!
the way the present them selves when they play was enjoyable and funny, but they make damn good music
Caraca que musica 💓💓😍
There were moments of dreams
I was offered to save
I lived less like a workhorse
More like a slave
I thought that one quick moment
That was noble or brave
Would be worth the most of my life
So I pointed my fingers
And shouted few quotes I knew
As if something that's written
Should be taken as true
But every path I had taken
And conclusion I drew
Would put truth back under the knife
And now the only piece of advice that continues to help
Is anyone that's making anything new only break something else
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
So I took what I wanted
And put it out of my reach
I wanted to pay for my successes
With all my defeats
And if Heaven was all
That was promised to me
Why don't I pray for death?
Now it seems like the unravelling
Started too soon
Now I'm sleeping in hallways
And I'm drinking perfume
And I'm speaking to mirrors
And I'm howling at moons
While the worse and the
Worse that it gets
Oh you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's starin' right back
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
Well you can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's starin' right back
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
When my time comes
Oh oh oh oh
I love Taylor's folks inflection on the last chorus
Fucking awesome.
Woow ,I just knew about this band . How ?
@Calbuttss yea live is awesome
@brandonjames88 I agree this song is amazing.
If you have to ask and propagate negativity, you don't get it. Taylor Goldsmith is a wonderful songwriter, singer, and person.
Dawes
Who knew Charlie Day could rock so hard?
i was wondering the same thing. Do people not appreciate/like this song or are they unaware
of it?
@acespade87 saw them in concert, they do
bad ass
like the guitar solo
2:20 Is the best
Fucking love James Roday.
You know that you are singing along with the chorus
They are rather good aren't they :-)
He sings like he's a preacher in a pulpit. Can't tell if I dig it or not.
Taylor is preaching truth, with some guitar slaying and lyrical prophecy
"And if heaven was all that was promised to me , why don't I pray for death?"
Jessie Eisenberg on drums?
Glad it's not just me!
Griffin looks like a BABY in this video.
have you checked out the drummer?!?!
Fender vintage tele through a VOX AC30... I'm down...
that's quite a lively crowd there
It's like nirvana off drugs
And a million times more talent.
I get an Elvis Costello vibe from the singer, love this band
@Ritscheman no germany and usa should join together under president ron paul. it could be called "germerica" or "americany" and we would live happily ever after
