Skip has the best life, ever! All the cows to chase, the horses to test, the cats to terrorize, long walks, birds to chase, and all the poop a dog could want 😄If you tell me he sleeps on the bed I am gonna fall over dead 🐴🐶💩🦅🛌. Nice video work, Benda!
I he doesn’t sleep on the bed but he has a bed in the house
@@WorkingHorsesWithJim Hes a very lucky boy. I feel that way about all of your animals. ❤
Skippy🐾 cracks me up 😆. He supervises EVERYTHING❣️
Glad Skippy got to "herd" the cattle today, and that he didn't get bonked by flying frozen cow pies!
So nice to see. Draft horses are sadly becoming a rare sight here in Nova Scotia. Even at the fairs.
You can tell Baron is feeling good. Love that prancing jig he has. Baron and Duke look very well matched as a pair, and Duke is learning from his big brother. When Duke gets his time in working, I think he will calm down and really come into his own.
I love how all children can find a way to play while working . Imagine these Amish boys think what their doing is normal . Fetching a load of hay with the double bunk sleigh and a team of horses in a March snowstorm and one is skiing .Fabulous .😊😊😊
Opening shot was great. Brenda, you do a great job filming. Love watching the horses. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderfulto see horses do their job. Great horsemanship. Thanks to you, Jim and Brenda.
Jim and Brenda sorry you couldn't go visit your Grandkids but there will be another day and hopefully before they go back to school. Jim thank you for letting us know how Ken did in the woods with Bill. Glad Baron is doing well. God bless you jim and Brenda while He keeps you safe 🙏
Skippy is becoming quite the farm dog, watching him get that cow out was impressive.
Glad Baron is doing. Love your videos. 🙏🩵✌️
Skippy is living his best life 💓 bet he sleeps like a baby at night lol. Scares me when he’s on the road running tho 😟
Oh spring snow lol nice to see you both today, Brenda and Jim always look forward to your videos ,makes my day . Hope baron is healing up well ….
Oh the joy of spreading manure on cold winter day .
Despite their young age the Suffolks look very compact already!
Perfect way to start the day!! I’m excited to see them go. I feel so blessed to be able to watch such a great team under the leadership of their great owners.
The phrase “great collage of manure” struck my funny bone! 😂❤
those horses worked for their corn too.........Being here in the South with it being a wonderful cool to us 73 today...I hand it to ya'll working in the weather that you have up there. lov from South Alabama.
Baron has turned out great with his work
I loved how the cowsliked the new beding. As a farmer you always have to go with the weather.👍😊
Wow - snowy Spring day where you are.. Sunny and blue skies here. (Pismo Beach, CA). Thanks for letting us come along as you do farm chores.
Now that’s a good looking Suffolk Punch team! Such incredible horses
Thank you for sharing.🐴🐴
PG here We got two channels back!!!??? Love the snow video that we expect at Christmas, January, February but not in March for Easter!!! It is a great video when you are both available.
Great to see Jim working the horses
I wish I had the energy that Skippy does and wonder how many miles he puts on in a day .... 🤗. Also, totally enjoy your channel!
Looked to me like Kenny was doing most of the work with Earl. Of course, he’s got 400 more pounds of muscle, too! Glad to hear he and Bill did well in the woods.
Now that's my idea of skiing.
My dad would say the wind blew and the **** flew!
Yep I might say that myself, haha
good day on the farm. liked how well Earl backed up and hooked right away in the beginning..skip is showing his bred jeans now with a little herding...😊 and Brenda it was good to see a different chore that gets done in the corn crib..cool..great seeing all the training pay off with the horses today.
it's been a lot of work,,but wow,they are valuable...c and s
One of the great things about You Tube is we get to see our mentors/heroes making daft little mistakes like everybody does.. thankyou
Brenda, here's a funny thing... when the corn molds on the stalk, they sell it as a delicacy for people to eat!
I guess it depends on what kind of mold gets on it.
Yes it does depend on the mold, and the exact weather conditions
Beautifull in deed! Love your sense of of humor Brenda!
Hi Jim and Brenda, you are so wonderful, I really enjoy your videos and I really want to wish you and your family health and strength and all the best. I am writing to you from Russia, your subscriber)
Rain snow here, Windsor VT, suppose to al week, love your horses little one most, haha,I I had 4 beautiful ridin ponies all my life Ana's were my heart soul
🤔Last vestiges of winter 🫣 nice heads up on weather/ chores play , Brenda on animal feed chore 👍 Skippy endearing little rascal!
What a peaceful winter video
Amen Brenda. Better to have and not need than need and not have.
It's so good to see you, Brenda!!!👋 I am so sorry you didn't get to go see the grandbabies today. Sounds like Vermont got a huge snow dumped on them. Duke, Earl, and Baron make a gorgeous team! Looking forward to seeing Duke and Earl prancing down the road with their new harnesses on that Eli is making for them!!!! I bet when Skippy goes home for the evening he is a tired puppy! He's a hard little worker running after the horses and cows. Any news yet on the sawmill fix, Jim?
Glad there was some hay/straw there for you to fall backwards on in the barn, Brenda! Could have been an ouchie! :)
Such hard work in cold winter. “Ole man winter” til ???
Beautiful horsemanship.
I so enjoyed Abby’s posts! She’s taught us all a LOT.
MURRAY is smiling!
Jay is great with problem-solving.
Carolina rain 🌧️ is what I have to adapt to
here.
Best wishes for Easter! He is risen.
I’m struggling with gathering necessary information. I’ve never done it myself before!
Much joy and blessings…..
Hi Judy!
@@WorkingHorsesWithJim
Hi right back. Love what you do!
Amusing to see boy sking behind the hay wagon had for gotten pictures of relatives way back that had nothing but horses to farm and ranch with but had a percheron they used to ski behind in the fields
Loving your videos can hardly wait for spring chores 😊❤
Find the videos so relaxing. Thank you.
You gotta change skippy's name to Rocket seems like that guys goes full tilt back & forth running extra miles & he just dose not give up....Whish I had a half of his energy !! Excellent video as always you gotta luv farm life !! Thankyou !!
Hey, where is everybody!! second! We used to put used oil on the apron chain to keep it from freezing to the floor, but you still had to check it or you'll be pitching it off!
Hi Jim and Brenda ! It is so pleasant to see your young horses learning and working with Ken and Baron. They are so beautiful ! By the way, where is Skipy staying at night ? He seems to be a good farm dog !
You are getting snow , here in southern New Brunswick Canada we are to get up to 120 mm .of rain Thursday to Saturday morning .
Just a thought. Make a compost pile and spread it from there
The North Country lets go of winter on mother nature schedule.
Your horses are all beautiful! Brenda is funny! I live in FLORIDA don't think i could handle snow!
Manure with to much hay/straw is hard to spread. We used to run the beaters fast and the apron slow, gives bearers more time to shred it.
Boy Barron has a muscular look about him. Logging muscles
Very cool
Brrrrr🥶 it looks cold!
Just have to give props to your puppy. Such a good dog . Loves the horses and doesn’t bark! What’s the trick ? Lol
Poor man fertilizer is snow Jim & Brenda, keep skip out of the mud for sure . 😊
In the winter we would put single truck chains the spreader
It was interesting to know what you use the corn for.
What a great job and loved the video 😘👍🏻💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻
If you gotta break that muck up with the pitchfork, why not just load the spreader with the fork?
Winter is having its last hurrah! Skippy is showing definite signs of being a cattle dog.
I love these videos, so different to the usual city lifestyle.
Snow laying on horses a sure sign they are cosy warm, any rising heat would melt the snow.
Greetings from Australia.
Thanks for sharing
Hey Jim and Brenda, what great exposure to the manure spreader noises and skid steer loading the manure . Then later working Baron and Duke in the afternoon. Brenda is right that Baron and Duke are great matched team of Suffolk Punch Horses.
beautiful pair
So glad Baron 's problem was not life threatening..Brenda, so sorry you couldn't go visit grandchildren ..you'll get there..as always prayers and blessings
👍👍👍
I could be wrong, but in my opinion you would get better traction with the manure spreader wheels if the tires were reversed. As it is now, when the tires lock up the 'V' of the tread is facing forward so just fills up with mud rather than shedding it therefore losing all traction. The tires on a tractor are correctly in that orientation because the tractor wheels are driving, so if the tractor wheels spin the 'V' tread will shed the mud to the side but on the manure spreader the opposite is happening the tire tread just fills up. I enjoy your videos!
great info to share,,we didn't notice
I honestly love your videos ❤
we had 21" if snow on satday and sunday hi from maine
😮
Sorry you weren't able to travel.....very soon instead, I hope.
New meaning to tired of shoveling the S!!!!!t
love all your videos-lots of memories of when i grew up on our farm also my gpa's draft horses how many miles does skippy put on in a day?
Is Skip getting enough exercise? 😅
Jim could you give us an update on your sawmill engine
Thank you
Regarding the manure spreader .
Is it possible to run the beaters without moving the conveyor ?
Is it possible to engage the conveyor while moving ? IF so you could keep the beaters going and engage the
conveyor as the beaters cleared .?
Baron has more pronounced muscles in his rear due to age and longer working time.
would it be bennificial for time sake of clogging the spreader up to just take the hay/straw clumps and put on a pile outside to decompose and spread at a later date?
Always enjoy your videos. I’ve been wondering if you chose Suffolk Punch horses because they are shorter and easier to harness as you get older. I grew up on a farm and my grandfather and father both used horses until the 1940’s. They had Belgians
Hi Jim where do your horses lie down? Thank you.
Have y'all been following EngelsCoqchShop rebuild of a old (pile of scrap, basically) horse drawn manuer spreader?
Yes and Dave Engle is a perfectionist . Would drive me to drinking,if I was around him for a long time .Cheers😊😊😊
These are the first Suffolk Punch horses I have seen in the U.S. Please tell us their story.
Hello l was wondering are you guys going to sell Bree because you have a new colt coming
Could it help to lower the speed of the bottom chain so that the spreader rotors can grab less at a time. Can the bottom chain run backwards or be stopped so that the rotors can be emptied. Love that dog that apparently can't walk, I don't think I've seen that :-)
We used to put a tire chain on the drive wheel to help it to keep turning, it provides just a little more traction than a plain tire. But Jim's way works too, good to take a fork with you to save a walk back to the barn and back, that was my job, ah ha, "go get the pitch fork".
Ground driven manure spreader . Only operates one way or speed , that I know of .It's good that tires slide ( no sheer pins ) that I know of , bets busting beaters and gears .😊😊😊
On the unloading wagons I have known, there is a gear wheel which is pushed by an arm and when the arm is pulled back, the sound you hear on the video comes. The bottom chain is advanced in jerks corresponding to the sound. The distance the chain moves in each jerk can be regulated with a handle. Maybe try pulling the handle, you start the bottom chain with half, so the handle stands 45 ° instead of 180 °. It is possible that it is different on wagons drawn by the wheel, but the gearbox on the side of the wagon is similar to the ones I know. Otherwise, excuse my comment.
Your absolutely right about adjusting speed of apron and beaters by dropping ingagement leavers . I always dropped leavers full open on the ground driven manure spreader because I wanted that manure off and back quickly for another load. Apron chains would brake sometimes and I could turn the air blue as I forked the manure by hand as I unloaded spreader to fix the apron .Some other commenter think Jim should hand fork his manure onto the spreader so manure will not jam beaters. They are absolutely right . But I'm with Jim and will use the skidsteer. Your comment is fine. P T O spreaders a different machine . ( power take off). I will leave this for now . Ah farming us great fun as long as Jim and Brenda are doing all the work .
Good morning Jim with horses When do you plan back at PSC wood job
maybe Monday
Thank you very much Would like to come meet you and your draft horses I have been around draft horses all my life at PSC
Also have some harness for sale that I do not horses any longer
That was cool the Amish guys having a bit of fun skiing🙌🏼Have a guestion. When the manure is mostly straw/hay…can you not just stock pile for a year for it to compost, then spread it? That way it won’t plug up your seeding equipment etc? Baron and Duke did very well, like pros, like they have been working together for a long time. Good job skippy in helping dad move the cows. Good job Brenda in knowing your manure spreading distance in taking the videos👍🏼It is like I am right there ready to duck when Jim first turns on the spreader🤠Good video, good job to all involved🙌🏼👌🏼👍🏼👏🤠🇨🇦
@WorkingHorsesWithJim HI Jim I went out to your horse logging job today at PSC off of Rt 86 Have a treat horse your horses Please contact me next time you will be at PSC Thank you Ed H
❤😊
Brenda could have got the skid steer.
Horses were in the way
At 17:00 stand back Brenda. Ha
Great video as usual do you ever have a problem with bears etc and other wild live just out of interest 👍
Did I miss an explanation on why he didn't slow down the bed chains? My understanding is that would have helped not clog up the spreader
???? Poopsicle !! I love it.
How far are you from Vermont?is it a long trip?
Wayne .Google maps . Moira N Y to Vermont . You should get all the info you need .😊😊😊
What did you find out about the sawmill engine. Were you able to fix it or did you have to get a new engine?
Marvin Sign up for Brenda's free newsletter . Published every Tuesday morning at 6am .😊😊😊
👍🏽👍🏽
I love them"whose baron, your dogs what I had too Australian shepherd Australian collie mine was,,good dog, angus cows??oh were looking to get a rig like your yellow, will ya tell me what kind it isn't is where you got it please thanks mare
Isn't there a husband and wife manure fork😂
I use to pile up, go through a heat, ,Kills weed seed! Breaks down
I think if you loaded the spreader by hand, you wouldn't have had a clog.
Your right .😊😊😊
delivering political promises to the field
Got it!
Bah ha ha ha!
They have no boundaries...
To coin a phrase...
To cheeks on the same backside...!!!
Same here in Australia...
Geographical location is no longer an issue...
Bkessings to all ❤
Trump is now selling Bibles .Hummm.😊😊😊
Is this reality? There are no subtitles in this video, I tried several times, but it doesn't work
My husband got round bail once fear patches I never let him eat it, I think it takes goodness out of hay settin in rain snow like that fear horses don't you??
I get a kick out of that dog! He runs just far enough ough to not get steps on by the horses ! He loves to run.
That crappy oat straw should have been composted instead of spread!
Frustrating work I sense Jim was a bit tetchy.
