Grew up on a 500 cattle feedlot farm. The JD 730 had a JD 45 loader, JD 520 pulled a JD 44 Spreader, and JD 4010 pulled a 54 spreader. Those two spreaders were heaven. Originally a tiny little JD ground drive spreader, and a JD N spreader. The aprons would always break and you would have to hand pitch the spreader empty to fix it.

I had six brothers, there was never a fight to see who got to haul manure... Maybe to see who got to drive the 4010 if you had to haul; but not to see who "got" to haul.
I was unaware of how simple the loader went on the JD 520. With that being said, I am curious as to how it attaches to the rear of the tractor. Would love to see a video with more in-depth discussion as to attachment of the loader.

I remember working for a neighbor milking cows and cleaning out the barn, he had a 620 and a model 40 spreader with the hydraulic endgate. I was 15 the first time he sent me up the road to spread the load man I was 10 feet tall and bulletproof couldn’t of been any prouder if he’d sent me to town in a new pickup! When i was 6 yrs old my father used an A with that same loader,to dig out a cement swimming pool ,that had been filled with dirt .He also used a 40 crawler . I helped on the farms but my uncles had all bought newer loaders ,so i myself ,never got run a 2 cylinder jd with the old loader. I got my hrs in the seat though on those A s n 60 s ,mowing hay with a 469 New Holland haybine n pulling big hay wagons n jd 216 chuck wagons loaded round full with hay n corn silage !
Really like your attitude would not mind helping you on the farm if I could I believe every person in suburbs and cities should work on a farm especially a dairy farm for at least a year
Awesome. Can't imagine running a loader on a narrow front with hand-clutch. You're good. Did you have to rebuild your 520 or 620? Did you run into any challenges in doing so? I have a '43 H, which I love, but have had a hard time getting everything to seal up well after rebuild (had to overbore .090).

Now that brings back memories of summers on my Grandps farm. He had John Deeres like those and we worked them. I've spread some manure in my day.

Loaded a lot of manure with similar set up on my daddy‘s old 720!! That 520&620 are both pretty slick.
