@@kassandrariemersma7902 I think Loretta is more talented. She has the country voice down pat and Crystal doesn't. She's more, I don't know. She doesn't even have an accent and their from the same family and grew up in the area.
I agree, but I first heard Crystal Gayle when this song was on the radio in 1977, and I fell in love with her voice without having seen her. Of course when I did see her that clinched it, and I became obsessed with her. I saw her perform live in 1978. She sounds live exactly as on the recordings. I read recently that this recording of Don't Make My Brown Eyes Blue was the first take. They said that's perfect, that's all we need.
So glad that you did this reaction to Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.. "Talking In Your Sleep" and "Half The Way" are a couple more great Crystal Gayle songs....
Deep classic country gold. So smooth n silky. Sultry even. A fun note she has or had the longest hair in the industry. Literally ankle length and beautiful.
She was my childhood idol. I could sit on my hair because I tried to grow it out as long as hers. I would tuck it under my pillow before I slept because I had a weird fear someone would come in and cut it.
My cousin designed her clothes for years.... she would pile her hair up in a bun and put on shades and never be reconized. My cousin ask her once if she wore it up at night while she slept. She said no her husband liked it down. My cousin asked her if she was worried she would wake up some morning and he would be strangled 😆😅😂
As a little girl my mom had me convinced that she was Crystal Gayle! She looked just like her and had long hair just like her 🤣 one of my favorite singers 💖
That ionic opening piano riff is unforgettable. 45 years later. This was from a period in the 70s when there was crossover between genres. The radio was turned on in the morning and turned off at night. Never had to change stations,
This song was HUGE!!!!!! Pop, country and America’s top 40. She is so classy and had the most beautiful hair( her signature) it was down to her ankles. But, I loved and love this song.
This song takes me back to mid-August in 1977. It was the 1st song I heard on the radio in my parents car after getting out of the hospital for viral meningitis. It was a week or so before my 7th bday. I have loved the song every since.
Dang, BJ was on top of his game on this one. Live club sound. I never thought of her voice like that but she would have killed it at the coffee house. Asia has a good ear too. She picked up that Jazzy beat instantly
Crystal Gayle is and was so beautiful. I remember when I was 7 years old I had this album and it came with a fold out poster with her hair down to her ankles. THIS IS HER SIGNATURE SONG. Good memories. Thank you for this walk down memory lane.
Loved this song when it first came out and thought it was beautiful. And then after hearing it on the radio about 20 times a day, every day for a year or two, I grew to totally dislike it. Haven’t heard it in years so it was nice to hear it again.
I 💜This Song(My Is Crystal And I Kinda remind people of Her .) My Friend though My Mom named after her ( I was born 1977 when this song come out and she was popular!)🤗🙆♀️🤣🥰🎶💃
To me it sounds like Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston. The song you were referring to was The EnVogue song Giving Him Something He Can Feel. It has that smooth soft RnB vibe to it.
There is a mind blowing drum solo in this video with the best audio recently post in Feb 2021 (Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Karn Evil 9 1st impression, part 2.Cal Jam 1974 Remastered by Rudenko Arthur) Palmer gets a real workout throughout the song.
I met Chrystal Gayle once just after she cut a demo tape in L.A. It was 1975 and her and her fiance stopped in Yuma, Az to listen to a group who were singing original songs. Between the sets the were playing Fats Domino songs. Her fiance wanted her to dance but she wouldn't go. When I found our she was a singer, I told her one of my cousins worked for Carlos Santana and another's husband had a band and they'd play the northern circuit around Portland. Then I asked her if this would be good lyrics for a song and wrote her a poem on the spot. She was impressed, she said her father wrote songs but couldn't do it so quick. How'd I do it? She showed me her agent said she had a $1,000,000.00 voice. She could go low then high without pausing or her voice cracking. I told her my grandfather wrote poetry and my sister writes poetry but I don't read poetry at all. I just make up my own songs walking or driving along. I think it's genetic "Where'd you get your voice?" She gave me her name, Gayle Webb, and said if she ever makes it in Nashville look her up, Nashville needs lyricists, my poem was like a ballad. Well, I was drunk and so was her fiance and we almost got into it. My buddy took my keys and drove me back to the Marine base. For three months, I searched high and low for her. I loved her music and looking her up in the dictionary I noticed her real name was Gayle Webb. Then it all came back to me. I wrote her but had gotten no response. I did find out she married that guy who used to beat her until another singer with a black belt in karate laid him low. 300 people people were there but when the cops came, no one saw nothing. She divorced him and married a nicer guy who was in Tennessee politics. She could have been the love of my life!
I really like the early songs by her. Wrong Road Again. I'll Get Over You. I'll Do It All Over Again. This Is My Year For Mexico. She was more country at first then shifted to smoother crossover types of songs.
She was just absolutely huge for a while, and then just faded away. I don't know why, but with her talent she should have become a megastar. Listen to her rendition of "Cry Me a River".
You should listen to the ultimate rough smooth combo ...Tom Waits and Crystal Gale duet. Its like a Dragon and Unicorn playing beautifully with each other.😎😉
Dear god this bro just doesn’t have the vocabulary to express his feelings and thoughts behind this song. Thank god she a saint for believing in him and not full on correcting him.❤
She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Hear me out. If you've ever heard Marilyn sing and do interviews. Well She has a New York accent but when she should mask her accent and Crystal does that when she sings to the point some words have an odd accent. And also of course they both have a playful charm that makes you fall in love with them when they sing and perform as well as a very light and soft non-power voice. They float lyrics, absolutely no growl or anything. AND the longest hair in music history. haha
Please react to "Half the Way", a more up tempo hit from Crystal Gayle. And her hit "Nobody" has some clever sassiness that may appeal to your subscribers. Love your channel ❤ Edit: "Nobody" may not be Crystal Gayle's song. All I could find on UA-cam was someone named Silvia. Still a good song 🎵.

Crystal Gayle is Loretta Lynn's baby sister. In the beginning of Crystal's music career, she was on the same record lable as Loretta Lynn, _Decca Recards._ I believe they wanted her to sound like Loretta Lynn, because she sounded way different in her earlier years in the early 1970s than she does with this song, like you can do a reaction to her first hit song from 1970, _"I've Cried The Blue Right Out Of My Eyes",_ and compare the two.
The thing I remember about Crystal Gayle was she had hair down to her ankles...
Last time I saw her in concert (just a few years back), she still did. Amazing performer.
she is about as talented as her sister Loretta Lynn. That's a lot of talent in one family
I did not know they were sisters or I'd forgotten about that
They are also first cousins to country artist Patty Loveless too. Lots of singing talent.

This was a huge crossover smash in 1977. It was everywhere.
She has such a beautiful voice! Her duet “Just You and I” with Eddie Rabbit is really good too! 💜
She's so underrated, a beautiful voice
Such vast differences in Crystal Gayle and Loretta Lynn styles. Loretta’s is raw and down to earth. Crystal Gayle’s is sophisticated
Oh dear! You really should have chosen a live video. She was stunning.
That's what I was going to say, her eyes, that hair all the way to her knees, wow.
Yes!!!! With that gorgeous mane… down to her calves!

One of my favorites is *Take It Easy* , from her 1980 album *These Days* . It really shows the power of her voice.
