I was blessed with the incredible opportunity of seeing John Denver live at the Marin Center in San Rafael (Terra Linda), CA. It was just John, his guitars and piano. It was beyond belief. I knew he was a fabulous singer, but to hear him live, no background music or singers to take away from his talent was extraordinary. I think it was after the Wildlife Concert. I've tried to Google the event and it doesn't show up. In fact I believe it was not long before his plane accident. I don't know what I did in life to deserve that incredible opportunity, but I will be forever be grateful. Marin County is about an hour and a half to 2 hours north of Monterey.
I am still listening to this beautiful love song in 2024. It helps me feel closer to my beloved wife. You see, we had a car accident in 2022 and I am dealing with overwhelming grief. This song helps me through each day

John Denver tried to tell us how to do it but it seems no one was listening. This song is the answer to every problem there is in relationship. Don't go to mental health, just do this and mean it.
Some people can’t do it. They must to treat their mental issues first. If you love someone you will treat your traumas and problems to be free to really love and give it back. You can’t give what you don’t have it.
Maybe they didn't get any further than Annie's song which is a shame as this song shows what an amazing singer he was and a talented pianist also. Rog.pacific sunset records.

@@annasteffiesolenick9732 Well, according to his book, he "had to". Throughout the book, he comes up with various explanations for his behavior. After sheepishly admitting that there had been "innocent amours" before, he cited the emptiness of a hotel suite after a concert as a reason for indulging his "romantic inclinations". The next time, it was because he had been seduced, by Jerry Weintraub's secretary, for example. Then he seems to have a need to compensate for some emptiness in his life with hedonism on tour, which includes drinking champagne and picking up women. Then, steering toward the end of his marriage with Annie, he has a semi-serious affair ("more than hello and goodbye") and makes it sound like he was looking out for someone who values him more. By the time he is frustrated in his marriage with Cassie, it sounds like: If you are doing it, I'm doing it to. -- To put it in his own words: "Sometimes you have to be more true to yourself than to your partner in order to keep the relationship healthy. For me, this is not only the greatest love song ever written, it's on the short list for greatest song of all time. His performance here is effectively spare--almost shockingly stark--and achingly beautiful. It is one of the most deeply felt performances I have ever seen and never fails to be extremely moving.
My 50th Anniversary is 12/16. I have wanted to sing FOR YOU to my bride for many years. I thank God I’ll be able to do it like JD. I love your tribute. Thank you. GMV
A part of me died when he did. I always, always loved his music. This song is my favorite of his. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all find someone to love like this? Rest in peace John.........you're greatly missed.
Visit his Memorial Garden in Aspen Colorado. It's a beautiful, humbling experience. Loved JD for his music and his efforts to make this world a better place for all.😢❤
I’m loving me some John Denver. My husband and I saw him at the Dallas state fair in 1988. He has such a beautiful voice. I listened to him in the 70’s. RIP❤
Oh John you left us too soon. Whose gonna make more sensical and beautiful music for us like the way you do? Thanks John for the unselfish talent shared we'll continue listening to you.
No auto-tune here . . . .what a heart felt, beautiful song. I feel this for my husband - we've been together since we were 15 - we are now 64. I treasure him.
Bless you both. I hope you have many more happy years together. We met when we were both 13 and now at 66 have been married 40 years next month. This song says it all.
I saw John four times in England and each time was spellbound by his pure, pitch perfect voice. He was always so very humble and appreciative of his audience. A brilliant accomplished guitarist, songwriter and thoroughly lovely guy! Love and miss his enormous talent so much!
My mom loved John Denver. I remember her balling when he was killed. As a teenager I made fun of him and thought his music was kinda lame. I lost my wonderful mother to cancer a few years ago. Now ,in my late 30's this music touches my heart and I truly appreciate the beauty and loss of John Denver and all that he put into his music. These songs will always remind me of her.
Feel the same way. I never appreciated his music until I was older, and he - unfotunately - passed away. Now I understand the beauty, simplicity but majesty of his music!! Superb!! 👍
@@Chukartramp ❣️ SHAME ON YOU, COULD HAVE JUST WROTE TO HER HOW TO SPELL IT CORRECTLY, DIDN'T HAVE TO WRITE THE MEAN THING!! Also Sad! You are a mean Person that think they are Perfect!!!
When John sang this beautiful song at the Waikiki Shell at Kapiolani Park in early 1997, I don't believe there was a dry eye anywhere in the audience of people in lawn chairs or sitting on beach blankets on the grass in front of the stage. I think that even the birds in the park may have stopped singing to listen to him. And I have often wondered how he could sing it with dry eyes. And then, that October, he was gone from us forever. But thank God we can still see and hear him sing those beautiful songs like "For You", on video so good that it is almost (but not quite!) like being next to him on that stage. We miss you, John... 💔💖
John Denver was so underrated. I think he had one of the greatest Voice next to Elvis Presley. John Denver has such a great voice and he was so unique. Very hard to find nowadays
I beg to differ; I believe John's voice was better than Elvis'. He has a greater range and uses it. I always felt that Elvis was holding back when he sung. He had a bigger voice than he usually showed.
One of the most under-rated LOVE SONGS in the history of humanity! ... Ok, I would also say exactly the same thing for his song "Perhaps Love" as well !!!
Yes! Perhaps Love is a little sadder though. My husband sang this to me at our wedding--today he e-mailed this to me to remind me. I'll admit, I forget sometimes how lucky I am!
My friend just introduced this to me. We have not met yet but we share music and I am so touched by these words. Never heard this one growing up with J Denver.

For You (John Denver songs)
Lyricist/Composer: John Denver
Just to look in your eyes again
Just to lay in your arms
Just to be the first one always there for you
Just to live in your laughter
Just to sing in your heart
Just to be everyone of your dreams come true
Just to sit by your window
Just to touch in the night
Just to offer a prayer each day for you
Just to long for your kisses
Just to dream of your sighs
Just to know that I'd give my life for you
For you, for the rest of my life
For you, all the best of my life
For you alone, only for you
Just to wake up each morning
Just to you by my side
Just to know that you're never really far away
Just a reason for living
Just to say, "I adore"
Just to know that you're here in my heart to stay
For you for, the rest of my life
For you all, the best of my life
For you alone, only for you
Just the words of a love song
Just the beat of my heart
Just the pledge of my life, my love, for you
As John got older his voice got better.
Only for you for the rest of my life ❤
I just heard this for the first time. How beautiful. Thank you John.
This one IS 🎉the BEST
He had one of the most beautiful voices in the world. So sad he died so young.
The range of topics cover, kindness and care moreover the compassion I Agee with you 120%❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For me, this is not only the greatest love song ever written, it's on the short list for greatest song of all time. His performance here is effectively spare--almost shockingly stark--and achingly beautiful. It is one of the most deeply felt performances I have ever seen and never fails to be extremely moving.
Agree. What a beautiful song this is.
My 50th Anniversary is 12/16. I have wanted to sing FOR YOU to my bride for many years. I thank God I’ll be able to do it like JD. I love your tribute. Thank you. GMV
Amazing,pulls on my heart strings...x
Amazing...pullson Lynne art strings...
Agree with you!
Love you John miss you muchly❤😊
The best love song ever!!!
Loved JD for his music and his efforts to make this world a better place for all.😢❤
I so agree
Amen to everything you wrote.
I never thought about how incredible his voice was. This song really shows how talented he really was 😢
God bless John Denver xxxxxx
Greatest love song ever written
So Beautiful!!❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful song.!!! SUNG BY A BEAUTIFUL SOUL!!!😆😅😄
YES HE WAS.....😢🙏💞💫🌟
Such a beautiful song of expression of love for someone!
I miss him
I’m loving me some John Denver. My husband and I saw him at the Dallas state fair in 1988. He has such a beautiful voice. I listened to him in the 70’s. RIP❤
OMG! It doesn't get any better than this....:His voice, piano and violins...Perfection!
Indeed, even me, his voice and the impressive acoustics of his piano and violins drives my emotion into an overwhelming passion of his music.
The most beautiful love song with so much love.
Perfection. Yes. That's it. Not many achieve that mark. This did. Thank you for saying it.
Oh John you left us too soon. Whose gonna make more sensical and beautiful music for us like the way you do? Thanks John for the unselfish talent shared we'll continue listening to you.
The best Song
WOW. Unbelievable talent. Words fail me right now.
@@hemmay The most beautiful song I've ever heard. The lyrics are wonderfu. I love it.
Artemio Balderas Yes, totally agree. Don't think it can be bettered.
Blessings to you both Mollie!!
We have been together since May 1968, wife and love this song
I saw John four times in England and each time was spellbound by his pure, pitch perfect voice. He was always so very humble and appreciative of his audience. A brilliant accomplished guitarist, songwriter and thoroughly lovely guy! Love and miss his enormous talent so much!
He was one of my favorites singers. Jst found out last nite frm UA-cam. Thank you.
Soooooo wish I'd managed to see him perform live. He was my mum's favourite singer and absolutely one of mine. His songs never fail to move me.
Miss him so much. Angel voice
Love him so much
My mom loved John Denver.
WELL SAID !!
Should've learned from momma how to spell correctly, bawling.
G. J. M. Stupid comment
Feel the same way. I never appreciated his music until I was older, and he - unfotunately - passed away. Now I understand the beauty, simplicity but majesty of his music!! Superb!! 👍
@@Chukartramp ❣️ SHAME ON YOU, COULD HAVE JUST WROTE TO HER HOW TO SPELL IT CORRECTLY, DIDN'T HAVE TO WRITE
THE MEAN THING!!
Also Sad! You are a mean
Person that think they are
Perfect!!!
This is why I've been listening to john Denver for fifty years
Best concert I have ever been to
Everyday i listen to his songs, he's my favorite until now!
Me too! I will never stop listening to his music. ❤
My favorite John Denver song. Played it at our wedding. So beautiful...and true! Thank you, John.
So beautiful, another timeless song by John Denver RIP❤
Just to say I adore,,all the rest of my life only for you...
My wife and I saw him at the Waikiki Shell in 1987, great concert at a great venue
I loved him so but something tells me that he was much better at singing about love than actually living it out.
John Denver sadly passed in October 1997.
He was a true talent
@Conrad in Hawaii ....John died in 1997...NOT 1994 !
What a beautiful song . What a tragic end to a great singer and writer
He was decapitated upon impact and died instantly. So sad. He was only 53 years old.
Souls in 1997.
Princess Diana and John Denver.
I love him and can't stand that he is not here with us. He left us his music, his heart. You are missed John...
Just might be the MOST beautiful love song EVER.
Keenan Warner It IS!
If it isn't it's a close second. Thanks for all the wonderful memories John. God bless and rest in piece.
Yes
It is!
Exquisite indeed. I like to think that as he sang this his thoughts were of Annie. Such a beautiful voice.
Agreed🙏🏻
Indeed!!!!
Yes
Yes!
I've never heard this song before until today. Brought me to tears. Absolutely beautiful! And those high notes!!!
Me too and I don't mind admitting it. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy." - Ludwig van Beethoven
"Music is an agreeable harmony for the honor of God and the permissible delights of the soul." - Johann Sebastian Bach
My friend just introduced this to me. We have not met yet but we share music and I am so touched by these words. Never heard this one growing up with J Denver.
He Wrote this song for his last wife Cassandra.
Sung beautifully, but with so much pain. John, searching for love. Never truly finding it. So sad.
This song deeply touches my soul and my spirit...
It's like going to a different time and place..
Magical song!
With voice like this, how could I not believe in God or in Heaven. This is it, the voice of an angel.
How beautiful is that? 46 years into my marriage and John Denver is still the soundtrack of my love. RiP John
I've been a John Denver fan my whole life. I dont know how I missed this one. What a beautiful song, by a true artist. No electronic gizmos, pure talent.
Wow! well said......a loyal fan
It's one of his best I believe. Powerful.
Me too. Can't believe I didn't hear this one. Annie's Song was my go to song for feelings but now this is on my playlist.
Me 2!
He wrote it later in life, 1988 I believe and performed it for the first time at the bicentennial celebration of Australia's founding.
My special song , love forever in my dreams
