I went to a John Denver concert in 1974 at UTEP in El Paso Texas. I was 17 and we were in a small room with about 50 people. I will never forget how his music and innocent personality impacted me. Over the years I attended 3 more of his concerts, each one bigger and better than the last. A brilliant light went out the day he died, but his music and his legacy go on forever.
I’m 63 now... when I was 18 I survived a bomb blast... I was in a coma in a London hospital. My girlfriends mum used to come sit by my bed after work on the way home and play John Denver on tape to me... Over the next Six months I came back slowly... learnt to talk, walk,, feed, simple things.... John Denver has stayed with me all my life, I strum his chords, badly, sing his words , a little better... He is with me always... As is Evelyn too... Thank you both... ! And the Doctors and Nurses of the Royal Free....! Respect...!

It's 2023, and I'm still here listening. Thank goodness for UA-cam... It's the closest thing we have to a time machine. Hopefully, John Denver's music will be heard for years to come... Happy Sunday 🕊 Thank you for sharing! 💖 John Denver always did have that calming peaceful voice... that always brings me back here. I just needed to hear it today. 😌
Sigh. Yep. I feel that way too. And what a voice, what words. I'm 69 and miss him from his glorious 1970s. He was a gift. And, yes, he is great to listen to for Escape!!
I went to two John Denver concerts in the seventies. Never saw a better natural performer. He established a rapport with the audience that most performers can't or don't try. From all the many concert footages and people's memories of his concerts, he spent a lot of his life on the road. I hope he got back from them as much as he gave, which was a lot.
Im sorry that you were taken from all of us too early . This guy will never forget you and your won derful voice. Rip Denver . Your music and legacy will live on .......
What a wonderful song. I had never heard this song called “The Gift Of You” When he mentioned the prodigal son, I knew this song was a reminder of my son. Thank you Lord for his return to me.
Some of the loveliest words ever written are stars in his songs - loss, love, longing, they're all there. As Bob said, nobody writes or sings like this any more. 💔💔💔
I love his honesty, he absolutely owns up to his shortcomings, there is no song that he made that blames his wives. He was a man of integrity. And I’m grateful for the songs he made near the end of his life that talk about Jesus.
I met Denver at a restaurant (Andres of Aspen) in Aspen while filming a tv show. We asked if we could do an interview for our Christmas show. He respectfully declined saying he didn’t do any interviews while at home. We respectfully appreciated his answer. He was nothing but cordial and very nice and spoke with us for a while. He was particularly excited about an upcoming tour where the stage was in the round (rotating). I saw that concert in Houston and it was great! I have always loved his music. He was a great songwriter and musician. And a very nice person.
I wish I was a boy and a singer like John Denver.. I'm 16 now and He's my Favorite singer, his songs really touched my heart.. I can even say that songs before are better than nowadays.. I love you John and Rest in Peace 😢 I wish I have lived before just to meet you but it's impossible.. I hope I'll see you soon if I can come to Heaven.. Continue singing Mr. Denver the Country Boy. Until now I always watches his Videos on YT..
It’s not impossible to meet Him. You need to know, people don’t die, just our flesh disintegrates. We keep the people we love alive on exactly the way we are right now.
You dont have to be a boy to sing John Denver. I did it Many times and i am 43years Old. My dream is to do what i love and sing John Denver. And i even bought a Fender Black guitar ❤️
John denver's voice DEFINITELY improved with age. He was absolutely a better & more expressive vocalist by the 1990s....very tragic that he's no longer around, but thankfully the music still lives.
I'm 51 now and I knew he was angel sent from heaven then when I was a kid. Miss his voice forever. There are only so many angels in this world he was one of them!

I grew up listening and watching John Denver on tv. He is one of my all time favorites. There will never be another like him!! At 63 I was blessed to grow up in the 60s and 70s! Those were the best days of music!
John Denver is a creatively inspired writer of magically simple songs. It is a talent few ever achieve. His voice was a clean fall of snow on a hillside and few artists ever match voice to composition like him. I liked his music when it came out. I love it now.
I was never a fan during his peak years but grew to love his music as I, in turn, grew! I remember this song when it was released and even though I loved it then, THIS live performance is so much better and the string quartet is what makes it so much more beautiful - He also sings it a little more tenderly. This is truly a beautiful song!
Words can not describe the feeling I have for John. He blows me away. The voice and lyrics touch my heart and soul. John you are loved and missed greatly. Your music lives on forever.
