My grandson who turned 36 in September loved John “Member” we bought him a little tape player when he was a toddler and a tape with Sunshine On My Shoulder on it, he often fell asleep listening to that tape. John Denver was such a wholesome man, doubt that a mean thought ever crossed his mind. He was truly one in a million.

And boy, what a great 2 days I had. I almost want to move to the mountains. I truly felt at peace there. I traveled all the way from West Central Indiana. My favorite song in 1972 in 2nd grade was his song Rocky Mountain High. I really loved Someone Saved My Life Tonight by Elton John when it came out too even though at the time I didn`t grasp the full weight of the deep lyrics. I felt them somehow anyway and still love that song.
There was so much great variety and sheer talent in music back then before it was dumbed down. Every night I sat alone in the front room with the light off with indirect light from another room coming in listening to a little clock radio in a rocking chair. Later I started sitting in my mom`s car each night listening to music.
I got a decent little battery powered radio for Christmas one year and I remember hearing Stevie Nicks for the first time in the 70s outside under the bright stars on a late summer night and it felt magical like it was coming from the whole Universe.
Music was so important to everyone back then and it remained that way for me through the 80s but in the 90s the record companies started ruining it and I remember getting angry about what was happening and Bill Clinton was 100% responsible because he destroyed real radio...local radio...independent radio. The last full album that truly impressed me was The Better Life by 3 Doors Down in 2000 but by that time radio had become too cringe to continue listening to. FBC! And FJB!

That tabloids use to hound him via articles about him being a raging drunk. Drunk on the golf course, beat up his wife, etc. Don't know how much was true, but I guess he did like the drink. Of course after he died, they fell silent...kind of like they did with Michael Jackson. I wished I could have attended a concert of his, but never got the chance.

I got to see him about 20 times in concert before he died. I still have all the t shirts. I have 2 memories. One time in concert there was a lull for a second so my friend and I shouted "we love you John!!!" And he looked over at our seats and said I love you too! ❤
Another time we were leaving the venue and saw a limo zipping by. Another friend and myself ran across the lawn to head off the limo and when we got there we waved and he waved back to specifically us!!!!

He was so lucky to have been at sea and not fighting in the jungle. We finally did bring our boys (and girls!) home, but it had been a brutal slog for everyone. We became John Denver fans soon after he started his solo recording, and stayed fans until his tragic death. He wrote and sang for all of us. RIP, friend John. 🙏🏼❤️

I miss John Denver so much. His music, his voice, his love of nature. He left us far too soon. I feel sad when I see videos of him. His death was a rough one for me. But I still listen to his music in my car on long rides. I always will.

I remember when Buddy’ Hackett was hosting the tonight show during this era. There was some sort of distraction on the set when John Denver was on. Hackett remarked “ hey cut that out! Don’t you know I’m talking to John Colorado?!” 😂

What a voice! And no background vocals. He surely was good. I thought I knew all of his songs, but that was a new one to me. In 1975, when I was 10, we got his greatest hits album. I played until I wore the grooves off!

72, my second baby was born, just got out of the baby. Went home to Oregon. So much reminds me of that time, good time. John Denver's music was such a wonderful part. So funny, our doctor was John Denver's double, it would really catch people off guard.

Me too, huge John Denver fan. I fell in love with his music on old 8 track tapes, I was around 8 years old. 53 now. This was such a wonderful performance. I was lucky enough to see him once near the end there at Chastain Park. I was walking down by the stage and he saw me, he smiled and waved. One of the best moments of my life for sure :)

I saw him that night in Chastain!! Omg! Fell in love with him at age 10 in 1974 and my heart still aches that he's gone. I joke with everyone that when I get to heaven, I want to hug him before my mom who I lost in 1992 at age 47. God Bless John Denver! He's been one of the highlights of my entire life!

@@melcrose I’m very well aware of how John died, I’ve been a commercial pilot for over 35 years and his plane crash was something I followed to know the cause. Also, the meaning of plucked is to quickly remove, which John was quickly removed from earth. It seams you are the one who doesn’t know the meaning of plucked.

I am 61 and live in Canada. I remember listening to John Denver, in my High School years. I can still picture sitting in the family room, right by the floor model HiFi stereo system, with John Denver's 8Track tape playing. I can still see that. Looking up into the ceiling, picturing the windy Kansas wheat fields. Oh, how the world lost a great talent.

Cap Center, 11/76 I was 21. My dad stood in line there the day tickets went on sale, surprised mom, sis and me with 5th row seats on the floor, the stage was "in the round." What a show. It was like a revival or something. That 12 string, and his voice. As far as concerts go and I've been thousands, this was a well produced concert. Huge screen behind him when he sang "Matthew." I about died and went to heaven that night. Not forgotten it yet.
