I am 80 yrs young now & I've always loved John Denver! ❤❤❤ his lyrics are beautiful & have touched me in so many ways❤ I can't wait to see him again playing & singing his music on the that grassy hill in heaven with my childhood friends ❤️ ♥️
This man was so much ahead of time, it's unbelievable. I recall that he was looked down on, but people just didn't realize how much he cared about the environment and nature. He was a gift for all to enjoy. A humble man, that was grateful for the gift of talent given to him and loved to share it. RIP Mr. Denver.
I don’t recall him being ‘looked down on’...But, maybe it was the crowd I hung with. I became a fan when i first heard his music in ‘71. My brother in law, a green beret, played all Denver’s songs in his Gibson guitar and serenaded my sister with them. Darcy Farrow was a favorite he’d sing to my sister. Later, they named their only daughter Darcy!
I got really sick. I don't know my future. But my wife has been there for me and my kids. 28 years. I'm not giving up. Just think I have more to offer. This song explains it so well . What a treasure.

Charlene. Thank you for sharing John’s music with others. Please know that in doing this, you are helping to heal others, often without even being aware. I am a retired social worker and a long time JD fan. I was blessed to see John 16 times over the years and always felt the healing quality in John’s voice. For many years I counseled my clients who were stressed to “take two John Denver songs and call me in the morning “. It’s amazing how many of them responded positively to John’s voice and continued on as fans. I still listen to him everyday to balance my psyche and remember what is really important in life, especially in these chaotic times. The vibration of love and compassion in his voice, and the deep meanings in his words always touch my soul and provide healing. I consider it a privilege to share this aspect of John with as many people as I can, in my efforts to help heal others and help make our world a little better place for all of us.

I love and miss John Denver. Rest in Peace, John . God bless you. I saw you in concert 3 times in Hamburg, Germany, 1982, 1986 and 1992. These are the best concerts I ever heard. 😢❤
I’m 43 now. Had this song on my parent’s record as a child and thought it was so boring. Now it hits right to my soul as it did my mom and dad back then. When it came out, they they were 21 and probably didn’t get it either.
I'm 44 and when I was a young teenager I dug out my mom's records and rediscovered his gift. Mom used to play them when I was a kid and my gosh did it soothe some of that teenage angst when I started listening again. Then he died shortly after 😢

Yes absolutely. I have over 3000 albums of all genres, but that's the one I'd grab in a fire or to take to a desert island. An utter masterpiece. I just regret never seeing him live in concert.
I'd read interviews with people who worked on his albums and they said he'd do 3 takes of a vocal, but each one could've been the one you put on the record.
I saw him play for over three hours at Michigan State University early in same year he was tragically killed. As I recall, he played that show for free, donating the proceeds to charity as he often did. I still tear up at Cats in the Cradle, over 40 years later. RIP
I do karaoke and on my playlist are Annie's song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Sunshine on My Shoulders, Country Roads, Rocky aMountain High and Poems, Prayers and Promises. I love his music and songs.😢
I like to imagine myself in the audience at this concert. I had this vision meeting with him and tell him how much his music means to me. I also picture myself telling him
I have asked my family that if they hold any memorial for me when I die, they include this song. It captures my attitude to dying perfectly. I did not do or accomplish a lot of things I would have liked to, but it's been a good life all in all and I can leave with no regrets.

Every once in a while I always come back to this song. It's really crazy how universal music is, I am an African man, but this song right here always makes me stop and think about my life, life in generational, the past and the future.
A lesson in living in full appreciation of the moment. Yes, you look back and forward. But in thinking that, reflect that you are just there - in the moment. Then pass the pipe and be grateful that you've had a toke. That's all it is.
Just a great song that he sang with so much feelings just a great guitar player and has a beautiful voice thank you John for wonderful memories you have gave us.💚💚💚💚🎵🎸🎵🎤✌🏻👏👏👏❤️
His music was always so filled with passion and joy. It is truly painful to watch his videos, yet it’s an exquisite pain. What a tragic loss, losing him so young and senselessly. He had so much more to share. RIP
His voice just got richer over the years. Every iteration made a song sound less like a performance and more like a personal conversation. Also, losing the glasses made him seem far less like cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch. Big, big help.
Lump in my throat.Much deeper than the studio version.Anyone noticed during the ending? He altered the lyrics from passing the pipe around,to watching the sun go down

His music was always so filled with passion and joy. It is truly painful to watch his videos, yet it’s an exquisite pain. What a tragic loss, losing him so young and senselessly. He had so much more to share. RIP
Heavenly personality put into music rest in peace kind and gentle John
His voice just got richer over the years. Every iteration made a song sound less like a performance and more like a personal conversation.
Also, losing the glasses made him seem far less like cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch. Big, big help.
Lump in my throat.Much deeper than the studio version.Anyone noticed during the ending? He altered the lyrics from passing the pipe around,to watching the sun go down
Yes I did. He also did that at the three concerts I was so fortunate to see him sing live. A part of me died the day John Denver died...

@@andrerieumaastricht9811 I was and still am a great fan of your fathers music. Your father's music kept me from committing suicide June 21, 1979. I was 20 years old. "Sunshine on My Shoulders" came on the radio just as I put a gun to my head. As I listen to his voice and to the words to the song I put the gun down. Today I am a great grandfather and never thought about suicide again. The news of your fathers death struck me very hard. I then thought back to that day 18 years earlier and began to weep... God Bless You Henry John Deutschendorf "Denver." 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
@@docholliday5439 wow, you must be a hard time to have thought of suicide
Message me on my email or add me up via hangout, I love to know, how my Dad's music must have helped you.

I Miss JD so very badly 🥲 .. He gave so much to me in my youth
Great Voice! Gone way too soon! Nothing like sitting by a fire, no noise just the fire popping and cracking and sipping on a glass of whiskey.
So pure , so thankful , so truthful, sticking to the roots , ladies and gentlemen the legend John Denver ... it's rare to find this kind of songs.
seen this man many times when he came to australia and took my dear departed mum and dad and witnessed a human treasure that was beyond the stars his voice was like a rembrandt painting superb just superb was lucky to have seen him and so sad to lose him so tragically life is truly not fair
He gets life perfectly.
When I feel low and down, thinking about my lost brothers and sister who all died half way through their lives JD singing his songs always picked me up, tragic JD died tragically half way through is life, God Bless Them all.
Miss his spirit on the rock 🌎
This month was the end of this beautiful music, truly miss this beauty, love for the environment and care. We will never have such a wonderful performer like John again.

Woke up with this song on my mind, so here I am listening & singing along with John again.
One of my favorites by him. Such an incredible man & musician!

A song and a singer never to be forgotten. My heart does miss a beat when I hear you John.
I was so enamored by John and his music, his phenomenal voice since I was 12 years old back in 1974!!
A beautiful song about Native Americans sitting around their camp fires telling their stories while passing the pipe around. Brilliant!
This is an autobiographical song about his first years in Aspen
Not exactly, but still brilliant!
I suppose native Americans do this, but so do the rest of humanity.
What a fabulous song. This was a great concert. What a talent! RIP John.
Gosh i miss him❤❤❤
My father introduced me to JD when I was a little girl. The two of them are so wrapped up together in my thoughts. He’s 75 now and fighting lymphoma with all his might.

How we could do with John now! RIP . Your music will live forever.
