You are such a good teacher. It is extremely helpful that you are using a heavier weight yarn, as well. Makes it so much easier to see the stitches. Thank you for this.
You are an Amazing teacher. 🍎 I really appreciate how you took us through a few rows so we could better understand the row 2 and 3 repeat. And I loved the way you taught us to change colors. You stayed with us and didn’t leave us hanging after just one or two examples. Thank you so much 👏 👏
Aside from "Ok" and "alright" FAR too many times, this was good instruction, easy to follow. The color choices for the striping look great! This pattern will be a smart choice for an absolute beginner.
You know you don't really realize you repeat all those words until it's on video 😅. I'm glad the instructions were easy to follow though and yes it's definitely great for a beginner. It's one of my favorite blanket patterns to make. 😊
I didn't notice until I saw this comment and now I'm a little curious how many others do this too because I definitely do the same thing without thinking about it.
I am a beginner or rather re-learning crochet after many years of not practicing. I’m having trouble with my stitch count. I started with 144 in my starting chain. However my rows keep getting longer. I’m not sure where I’m picking up the extra stitches. I’ve ripped out 20 rows by now. My question Is, If I start with 144 stitches, should all rows after remain exactly 144 stitches. I’m sorry this seems like a silly question but hoping you can help me out. I love this pattern and really want to complete it correctly. Thank you.
Hi there, thank you for reaching out! So I'm thinking the extra stitch is being made at the end of your row. I would recommend attaching a stitch marker to your last stitch of the row, this way you know where to make the last stitch. Also, the stitch count will be 143 for row 2 and onwards. This is because you're working in the second stitch of the chain for row 1. I hope that helps! 😊
I just stumbled across this video and I'm learning to crochet! I don't have a size 8 hook, only a 7mm and 10mm, and don't know which one to use! I tried with the 7mm one but the stitches look and feel too tight but I don't know if 10mm will be too loose.
Hi there, I would recommend making a gauge swatch of the stitch that is used in the pattern. If the stitches are looking to tight with the 7mm hook, I would definitely use a different hook. You want your stitches to be nice and flowy for this pattern. I hope this helps! 😊
You're welcome! 😊 Oh you can find all the information for the pattern, including the materials on my website. There is a link in the description box and that will bring you straight to the pattern.
Hi! Love the way you explain things! Makes it so easy to understand! My blanket is pretty stiff, does that mean I’m doing the stitching too right? Also what do you do with the extra yarn at the end from changing colors? Just cut them off? Or tie them in somewhere?
Hi there, thank you so much. I'm so glad you're finding the tutorial helpful! 😊Did you make a gauge swatch of the stitch used? I'm thinking that's why the blanket is looking a little bit stiff. You might have to go up a hook size to loosen up the stitches. Also, yes, I just cut the yarn at the end and saved them for a different project.
Hi there, I haven't made it yet in a worsted weight yarn, but I would personally go by the recommended hook size the yarn says to use. I would make a swatch first and see if you like the results. I hope that helps! 😊✨
I’ve done 7 rows so far and I’m loving reading the pattern but I’m using chunky yarn recommends hook 9 but I don’t have one so I’m using an 8mm hook and it’s looking a bit dense would you recommend I go get a 9 and start again?
Hi there, yes I would definitely recommend restarting with the correct hook size because else your blanket might get really dense. You want it to be nice and flowy. 😊
Hi there, you can find all the pattern information and the multiple for the stitch used here (you can adjust it to a queen size): jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/ 😊
Hi! Im using a 5 weight bulky wool yarn. I chained 144, not sure if my chains were too tight, but my blanket wouldve been very small if i continued crocheting from there, the length of my foundation chain (144) was less than 2 feet, and if im not mistaken the pattern said the blanket is 4x5. Ive bought the correct amount of yarn to make this blanket per the pattern, so i dont want to have to buy more if i need to make it bigger, just confused if im doing something wrong here?
Hi there, did you make a gauge swatch of the stitch used? This can definitely change the size of the pattern if there are more/less stitches. If your foundation chain is too tight, it can also alter the size. So I would recommend checking your gauge swatch and if that is correct and you still find it looking small, I would increase your hook size by one size.
Hi there, I personally would make a gauge swatch to see if the yarn would work for the pattern. Yarn weights can vary so much, so doing a gauge swatch will save you loads of time. It'll tell you if you need to go up or down a hook size.
Yes, you will have a total of 143 stitches. You want to count each stitch, including the space. Here's the pattern for the stitch count: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/ 😊
Hi there, I personally haven't made it in a baby size yet. But I would recommend making a quick gauge swatch and using that as reference to help figure out how many chains you need for a baby blanket. I hope that helps! 😊
Hi there, I used Hue + Me yarn from Lion Brand. Here is the link to the free pattern and the supplies you'll need: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
I checkd out the written pattern and I need to know.... Does the blanket size use all the yarn, so all 1918 yards or was their any left. Could you reply please??🙏🙏🙏
Hi there, you can find the material list here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/ You will need 14 skeins in total. 😊
Hi there, this stitch is made with a multiple of 2. You can find more information on this pattern on my website here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
Hi there, it took me a couple of weeks to finish this blanket. I was working on other patterns though while making this one. So depending on your speed and if you work on it consistently you could probably get it done pretty quickly. It's made using a bulky weight yarn, so those projects always go faster.
Hi there, there's a slight difference between row 2 and row 3. You're using the same stitches, just different placements. You can find the instructions for the pattern here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
Hi there, it looks like your increasing your stitch count at the end. I would recommend putting a stitch marker at the end of of the row. This way you know which stitch is your last one. This might help a lot. Goodluck! 😊
Hi there, you can find all the information for this pattern + stitch on my website here: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/
Hi there, I would recommend washing your blanket after you have finished it. I found that the blanket got a lot softer. Also, Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick is another great yarn option for this blanket.
Oh no! If you haven't worked it to far yet, I would recommend ripping back to where it started. You could also maybe add a border, but it might still look a little wonky.
Hi there, I don't have the stitch count yet for a baby blanket for this pattern. But I do have a few other baby blanket patterns on my channel, as well as my website. Here's the link: jewelsandjones.com/category/baby-blankets/

@@JewelsandJones It does! thank you!
Such a great idea about the stitch marker!❤
Knowing the 143 is very very helpful since I couldn’t get a stitch count 144 for each row. Kept getting short one stitch. 😮
I can only crochet with stitch markers! It makes it so much easier to know where to put the hook at the beginning/end❤
AMAZING ❤
Thank you! ✨
Stunning!! Does this stitch have a name? Thank you for teaching
Thank you! Yes, this stitch actually has a few names. So it's known as the linen stitch, moss stitch, or granite stitch.
I just stumbled across this video and I'm learning to crochet! I don't have a size 8 hook, only a 7mm and 10mm, and don't know which one to use! I tried with the 7mm one but the stitches look and feel too tight but I don't know if 10mm will be too loose.

okay, alright 😁
😊
So, for example, if we want it to be bigger, we can increase the number of chains?
Yes. You want increase by a multiple of 2.

what do i do with those extra yarn that we cut off? Like it’s still there to i cut it shorter and tuck it in or what?
Hi there, yes, so you want to weave in the yarn on the sides of your work. Then cut the yarn when finished.
could i make this with a size 6 yarn?? would i need to change anything ?? i.e the hook size, amount of chains/stitches??
Hi there, I personally would make a gauge swatch to see if the yarn would work for the pattern. Yarn weights can vary so much, so doing a gauge swatch will save you loads of time. It'll tell you if you need to go up or down a hook size.
After the chain of 144, row 1 and all others should have 143 stitches? Are we counting the chain between each stitch?
Yes, you will have a total of 143 stitches. You want to count each stitch, including the space. Here's the pattern for the stitch count: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-striped-moss-stitch-blanket-free-pattern/ 😊
How many stitches can I use for a baby crib blanket

what kind of yarn do you use in video ??

This brand is out of the white 😔 is there another brand that has a similar white? I have the other colors lol
I personally haven't tried it, but what about Joann's Big Twist Natural Blend yarn in the color Winter White. It kind of looks similar to the color.

Have to start all over for the second time now 😮

Oh no! Did you check your stitch count?
aren't row 2 and 3 the same????
Hi there, no they are not the same. So you are going to repeat row 2 and row 3 to create the pattern, but the rows are different. 😊
I wish you’d have shown how to take care of those loose ends 😢
Hi there, thank you for tip! All remember to do that in future videos. ✨
I’m making this blanket but the yarn is very itchy
Hi there, I would recommend washing your blanket after you have finished it. I found that the blanket got a lot softer. Also, Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick is another great yarn option for this blanket.
@@JewelsandJones is there something that could be added to make it softer like coconut oil or vinegar?
Somehow I added chains and my blanket looks wonky! Ughhhhh 😢😂

Is the 143 stitch for a baby blanket? If not, how many for baby blanket? Thanks!
