My favorite guitar is a 7 strings Ibanez RG made in Indonesia, but whenever I find an american or japanese guitar for a good price, I take them. I see them as an investments as they are not manufactured anymore and most manufactured products tend to lose quality as the years go by.
You might say "guitars are not the best investment" and I'll surely understand, but I get to have fun with them in the meantime.

I like the fact that he walked outside to the end of his driveway, walked back and guitar was still in tune. it's not just humidity outside alone, It's the change in temperature and change in humidity from what is relative to inside the studio. I'm still impressed with the evertune no matter how it explains out. If it's winter in Canada, I'm sure it's not 70 degrees fahrenheit with a relative humidity of 10% once the guitar is outside it acclimates to conditions and those conditions alter tuning in my experience. With tremelos the extremes are even more pronounced than a fixed bridge.

As a guy with 100 and some odd guitars floating around the house, I can tell you the only thing I have that's American made is a 1960 Gibson that was my grandfather's and I had Grover Jackson custom build two guitars for me several years ago. I have never had any issues with Cort guitars. Then again, I also grew up a fan of the Japanese guitars from the 70s and 80s like Burny, Greco, Tokai, Aria. I have tried some American guitars and have had my best luck probably with Fender as far as bang for the buck. Gibson and Paul Reed Smith domestics are just beyond what I am comfortable paying. I will just continue being happy with my Chinese, Korean, and Indonesian guitars.

Hey Rick sick guitar! What pickups and switching does it have? Also frets? I wish you did that in the gear breakdown. Not saying that’s the reason I don’t want it but just wanted to see it being addressed in the vid

I biught a Cort Yorktown semi almost 20 years ago. I replaced p/ups with Bare Knuckle Stormy Mondays, renewed pots and added Grovers. Recorded so many sessions with it. Cost me the equivalent of 600 bucks, I could have of course bought a Gibson 175... I'm glad I saved the money to go on a nice vacation or two out East. Great review.

I have been eyeballing a Cort guitar for quite sometime now. I have had good luck with Ibanez for a long time and have been worried about choosing something else. I’m glad you did a review on this. 👍

I've had the KX700 (6 string version of this) for about a month now. So nice to never have to tune it. Mine isn't that heavy. Wood is variable, so... I liked it on Reverb so I could go back and find it and within hours the shop messaged me with an offer. I paid about half of the price you mentioned. I'm guessing the 7 string can be found cheaper as well. Also, you can tweak the tuners (Evertune calls it zones) to where it plays just like any other guitar for bending. Or, you can set it where you bend all you want and it won't change the note. Great for rhythm tracking. Just play with it a while and you can get it however you want it to play.

I had a cort 7 string back in 2007ish that played shockingly good. The first thing I noticed was the excellent fret work. No "new guitar fret feel". The best trick I learned from a luthier when I built my end-game guitar was to work the frets and fretboard as if it had been played for years. The Cort had that feel to it. Totatally stock and it played and sounded awesome, never changed anything on it. Sold me on Cort. Off to the bay to see if I can find another one!

I’ve always loved Cort guitars. One of my first real guitars was a Cort Neck Thru Flying V Effector (Gibson 80s Knockoff). It was so heavy, but it had this beautiful mahogany wood, a hard shell case, and a flawless fret job. It’s one of only a handful of guitars that I regret selling.

I remember when you could buy Cort guitars from the Sears catalog way back in the day. My guitar buddy ordered their flying V version in brown with gold hardware and it still ranks as one of the best guitars I have ever played.

Hey GLENNNN!!!! - Old subscriber here to remind you that not everyone who watches virtually everyone of your videos is a metal player. Yes I like some metal, but I am always interested in knowing what the guitar sounds like without any effects what so ever (preferably directly into the board and EQ'ed flat) - That said, you're right about this guitar. It's GORGEOUS....Love your videos (keep 'em comin')

I recently won a Cort CR300 in a giveaway from DOD/Digitech, and it is a BEAST! Granted, they did upgrade some things (Kluson locking tuners and Righteous Sound pickups) but the base guitar itself is super well built. And they already do a lot of work for Ibanez, which is probably my favorite guitar brand already.

My neighbour was a rep for Cort recently, and I sold a fair few about 15 years ago in the music shop I worked in. Great instruments and they got better and better. I got to play a load of the newer ones and if I didn't make my own now (and own an array of others inc Gibbos, Rics, Fenders and G/Ls) I would have got a load of them.

I'm a huge fan of Cort guitars. In the early 2000s to around 2010, Cort had their top level custom-shop luthiers build Masterpiece series instruments - up-to 50 of any particular model. For some they didn't make more than 25. As a result, they're as rare as hens teeth - however I've managed to play some and they prove that Cort has had the skills and capabilities to build top level instruments for a long time. They've always built budget guitars well, however over the last 20 - 30 years, Cort have lifted the quality of their entire line-up. They're a great guitar builder.

Cort makes some really good stuff. One of the guitarists in my band has an older one, I also played in a semi-well known Polish prog band years ago and the guitarist rocked a Cort. And recorded with it. No issues. I had 2 Cort basses - unfortunately, one of them developed a nasty neck twist, but it was a cheap 2nd hand one, so, well, I can blame it on my shitty luck. Cort has just released a headless 5 string named Space and I WANT ONE. In green.

I had a nice Taylor GS Mini, but it lacked bass and it was small for me. Beautiful guitar nevertheless.
Sold it and bought a cheaper Cort Earth, I love it and I have been using it for gigs, rehearsals and recordings.
Nothing too fancy but a great working instrument, sounds beautiful, comfortable satin neck, reliable and stays in tune perfectly.

Weirdly Cort's own guitars seem to have more QC issues than the brands they build for though. Or at least that was the case a few years ago. I have a Cort GB75JH bass that has a off-center bridge for example. And that was after I sent the first one back because someone (seller says it was the factory) managed to put a chip in the poly lacquer that went all the way down to the wood. Preamp is a little anemic as well sadly, but other than that a good bass.

Cort is a oem manufacturer that besides their own brand, they produce guitars for other brands like Ibanez or PRS, and their own models are very good price/quality wise. That's a killer guitar, less than 1k € on Thomann, amazing guitar for the price.
