Good stuff man, Solar is some solid gear. It's great to see a UA-cam startup turn into a huge rival to these massive corporations. Warms the cockles of my heart ❤️ 🤘
Ola, please start dressing like Nigel. You're a great guitar player, but in terms of personal style, there's a lot that you could learn from him, just saying. Solar guitars are cool!
I got myself the S by Solar VB4.6C because of one of Glenns videos. Manufacturing is flawless. Even on the budget line. I just started with guitar and can't even play a whole song. But I love the guitar. So thanks to Glenn for the recommendation and thanks to Ola and the team from Solar for making awesome and affordable guitars.
This seemingly insignificant budget guitar review was an early landmark moment in Glen's life that ultimately led to an accidental late career as a country guitar legend.
Okay, I cracked up at the metal opening into clean tones. Incredible. For a guitar whose only meaning for "clean" will be a polishing cloth, it has a lot of crisp and pretty clean tones. No one's going to play any of those clean tones, but they do sound good. Also that candy apple red is gorgeous.
@thrashefe I fail to see the relevance in any of the words you typed, both together and separately. Know what else looks cheap because it is? Your mom's weekend house calls. On Saturdays she gives 2-fors.
Taking Glen’s advice on the Mojo tone speakers has made a huge difference in the sound of my set ups. The BV-30H is amazing I bought 4 of them. I also bought 4 of the BV-30V that is also an amazing speaker! Thanks for the awesome tip not to mention that they’re a lot cheaper than some of the bigger name brands out there.
I’ve had my schecter demon 7-string for years and love that guitar. Schecter has always been such an underrated and affordable guitar company that I’ve loved for years now
Best guitar review...Ever! I've been wanting a Solar for a long time, tried winning one through Bogren, but I think this the one. Thanks Glenn and thanks Ola.
I have a mojo 2x12 slant cab loaded with a greyhound and a cream back (mojo style). You can also order it with an isolation mod . It comes with two goose neck mic holders, soundproof cover, and two XLR in and out. If you are limited by space or live in an apartment, it's perfect for that. I still attenuate with a jhs black box. Instead of an ox box, I decided to try this and am happy I did. Take the cover off, and it's a normal 2x12 for live playing.
Dude super amazing guitar for price point, totally agree. Entered myself and fingers crossed for the chance to win that bad boy. Much love and thanks for all the great content.
I recently bought the T2.6C, the tele model in satin black, and it's fricking sick! Ebony fretboard, jumbo frets, neck thru, it's easily a top contender in my collection.
Hey Glenn, as someone who worked in the music retail world for many many years, I think it would be awesome (and incredibly helpful to many viewers) if you were to have someone with inside knowledge on the business/sales side of instruments on your show.
Glenn, I love your channel and the huge amount of info you share with everyone. Great stuff on the solar guitar also, great humor. Thank you, indeed. Keep it up, stay safe, healthy, and happy.
I think Glenn forgets about how many incredible clean guitar parts there are in metal, I think of Vildjharta having a Dropbox of clean interludes ready to pitch shift and drop into sessions. The green jelly riff was so good too!!!!🤘🏼
Another great video! I barely play anymore, but I always come back for the fun commentary! I also like seeing your playing progression! Have you thought of just riffing over some backing tracks and using the best parts?
Hey Glenn, been subscribed for a long time now. I recently bought a helix and play through a PA I’ve had for a few years. I know you talk about swapping speakers in cabs, but could the same concept be applied in changing speakers in a PA or FRFR speaker? Thanks, and cheers from Ohio
That clean sound is good. Has that "Sanitarium" sound....played by some metal band.... can't remember the name. So many metal songs have clean sections.
Hi everyone! I'm a lefty flaying Vs fan, and especially solar guitars. So they exist in left handed too? Or what do you think about some alternatives like the jackson js32 rhoads V? Cool guitar and awesome video. Thanks.
I love my solar v. I got the less expensive, string through model in trans blood red for $799 i think. It’s in my top five guitars. It came perfectly set up and i loved the blacksmith strings it came with. I definitely want to check one of these out. Im sure it will be awesome. Im loving the paint on this one. I may go this route for my next one.
@@shaggyrogers637 Yes he is but he's still a pretty big dude. (Big not Fat) I noticed that guitar on him looks like my 3/4 hybrid and I'm definitely not tiny myself!😁
Glenn, I'm a newer viewer/subscriber but I really gotta say I love your vids and guitar reviews and please for the love of all that is unholy- don't stop playing "The Metal" that song rocks. Much love and well wishes.
Your strap-on test actually got me thinking about something: I’ve been getting into building guitar bodies for fun lately, currently working on a short scale bass to go with a neck that was given to me. A big inconvenience I’ve had in recent years is my upper back gets crazy score after about 20 minutes of playing standing up. I’ve been designing the bass to have minimal material, hoping that the lighter weight will make it easier to play longer. Currently, the top half of my template is something like a Tele or Gretsch Electromatic style with no upper “horn”. Now I’m second-guessing this design because there might be some advantage to having an upper horn hold the guitar closer to its center of gravity, preventing neck dive. I’m not able to attach the neck at this stage of the process to test out how it feels. I’m wondering if you have any insight on this since you’ve reviewed a frak load of guitars. How much does the position of the strap seem to affect neck dive, and do you think that matters as much as total weight for the ergonomics of the guitar? Love your show, it’s one of the few channels I pay any attention to \m/
what is the riff he is playing at 7:39? I've never heard it before and Glenn is making it out to be the most iconic riff ever. It's basically Smoke on the Water with a turnaround.
Saying your guitar playing sucks and then hearing you hit cowboys from hell with all the pinch harmonics makes me feel like I need to practice a lot more...
Great tip with the Mojotone...👍🏼 I put a BV-25M 12" in a self made cab and run a Blackstar HT5R MKll into it- vast improvement to the built in speaker....👌🏼🎸🤘🏼🎸
Man, that's a sexy axe! I'm not really into red or shiny, but it looks GREAT! Seems like a good piece of equipment for the price-point as well. I'm on the Schecter train for now, but I'm going to be keeping my eye on Solar now. The new basses look pretty baller as well, so if I do give them a shot, it will probably be one of them.
most people watching guitar reviews arent exactly guitar heroes either. When I see you play a guitar it is a lot easier to imagine how I would play it compared to watching some guitar wizard who shreds up anything
Yooooo they finally came out with the linear edition speed holes! About time. They've been riding the standard speed holes for years, nice to see they finally updated them. Way more sleek.
You didn't adjust the individual height of the pickup magnets; I don't use humbuckers with covers because they don't allow that adjustment, and I do it on all my humbucker guitars. It does make the sound more even. It takes another tweaking of the whole pickup height and slope, and then maybe one more magnet fine-tuning. Quarter-turns are accurate enough, and the magnet setup avoids excessive shriek of dullness. When the height is right, and it surprisingly takes only the final quarter-turn, the string suddenly sounds very full and satisfying.
i remember when mojotone only did amp kits i still play my lw power tweed twin i bought and built from them almost 20 years ago maybe 20 years ago, they have come along way
Your guitar playing is definitely improving with each video! One thing that will help you with playing more complicated/faster riffs cleanly is not wrapping your thumb around the neck as a default, even in low positions. If your wrist is in a more neutral position you'll require less effort to lift/drop your fingers and will find your playing cleans up a lot very quickly.
Glen you should get a set of Mojo Tone Greyhounds and give them whirl. I bought 4 of them and loaded them into my Mojo Tone 4x12 cab and they are awsome.
If you have any info on duty or border services fees from this, or previous SOLAR guitars, 10:34 I would be interested. Hard to figure actual cost in CAD when conversion rate and shipping are just part of the total.
I love that they included a Jimmy clip! Every new guitar should come with one. Or I'd also take those velcro wrap things too. Also, locking tuners are a requirement for all guitars. Many players these days consider them as a minimum spec.
I think it looks great, sounds good and price is fair enough, I tweek all of my guitars with parts if I think something could be better or to my taste. so the price is very fair.
Glenn, the reason people ask how it sounds clean is because even metal guitarists play clean stuff sometimes and it's nice for possible customers to know what it sounds like in different situations.
Much love man, glad you dig it
