I have been going through the worst time of my life - unending debt, eviction and being taken to court by my landlord, struggling with addiction and an eating disorder, becoming morbidly obese from that and losing who I used to be. Whenever I play this, it puts me in at least a bit of a brighter place. Thank you, Sparks x
When life hands you an unexpected gift, accept it graciously. Thanks to Ron and Russell for giving us the gift of music that touches our heart, mind, and soul.
The most unexpected and the most wonderful gift I've received in terms of music. I discovered them with the Edgar Wright's documentary... And now, I'm addicted to them. They make my day everyday... Ron & Russell deserve all blessings from universe!!
Yep. Don't take a gift like Sparks for granted like stupid commercial radio ,(or 'private' radio as they're calling it now), in Vancouver. Run by close-minded, controlling psychopaths.
These guys in the seventies made perfect pop and now they are in their seventies they make pop perfect .......like a farewell anthem to a life once known in these uncharted times. Geniuses. Brings a a lump to my throat with every listen.
Humble and grateful "born-again" Sparks fan here. Going down a rabbit hole of Noel Fielding at the start of the pandemic in 2020 led me to the Edgar Wright-directed video for "Blue Song" by Mint Royale...which led me back to Sparks. So it was down the rabbit hole of Sparks in 2021 and what a trip it's been. It was an absolute privilege to see them in concert 2022-04-02 - Russell's voice was steady and strong in every song, Ron as well could do no wrong. Their energy, creativity, skill, and passion (and just the right amount of swing for Muff Winwood, I think!) made for a sight and sound to behold, all summed up in the love-letter spirit of this song to close the show. Thank you Ron and Russell.
I could imagine Ron wrote this for his brother Russell - they are very close brothers and have been through the grinder over the years but stay together creating great music.
Astounding talent that improves like vintage wine. These brothers are such a paradox: Influential to countless musicians, but too quirky for mass appeal. 50 years, 25 albums, over 300 songs, (all hook laden, brilliant snippets with constantly shifting styles); but only moderate worldwide acceptance. Most admirable of all? They're dogged determination to remain totally true to they're own peculiar musical visions, consequences be damned. Nothing like SPARKS. Never has been, never will be. 💥
I was curious what you'd think of the new album Larry, I too think it's one of their greatest. We're very fortunate to have Sparks still continuing to make amazing music! Cheers :)
I’ve only become a fan in the last year, but ‘All That’ might be one of the best songs Sparks have ever recorded. I’ve literally been replaying this song for two straight days. I hope when you guys start touring again you play this.
Decades ago they were really 'avant-garde'. They haven't aged a day. Simply brilliant. I am flabbergasted by the clarity and the volume of Russel's voice.
He still can reach almost as high as in his youth, but can reach deeper! Incredible! I don't know much about music per se, but just for the fun of it, it would be interesting to know how many octaves he has in his register.
When I was about 14 I would sneak out of bed late at night to catch a glimpse of an MTV program. One of those quiet, elicit nights, I discovered Sparks. The clip was from a live performance. I remember thinking at the time, "don't forget this" and I haven't. So wildly generous of you to play your new music here on UA-cam. Wonderful. So very wonderful.🎶🎶🎶🎶🧚♀️🐨🦘🦋💐
@@stuartmiller7419 Everything about them is totally original. Their sound is not like anything or anyone else. So many of the things I loved as a child/teenager was disapproved of, I'm happy to say that I didn't allow those negative voices to control my passions. Have a beautiful day my friend. Thank you for replying to a comment which I made without any notion that another person would read it.🦘🐨🦜🦋🌼🙏
Makes me think of many people I've lost the last years, especially one. All that we done, all that we planned for... And didn't have the chance to 😢😞 To lose someone special, in any ways or perspectives HURTS. When people pass in high age is often a thing you can partly handle, hurts like hell, but we can live with it. Especially if that person was sick and in pains. But when younger people (OR eldery in good shape, still strong and highly active) pass away, that is worse. They had so much left to do, to have, to give. It's not fair. And not as easy to accept for us, left here with broken hearts and souls. "Nothing stays the same as it was" ('I'm Toast')
I'd never heard of Sparks until listening to A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip on Spotify. This track instantly grabbed my attention and made me smile. It's my favourite album of 2020, and now I'm a Sparks fan :D
I discovered Sparks in middle school, in the early 80s, when a fellow student used Angst in My Pants as his choice for the drama class lip-synch assignment (and yeah, it was great). I became a fan and have always had a place in my heart for them. This song is moving and just awesome, it shines. The world needs Sparks.
Had this been the last song in the album and first listen you would think it a farewell song from the brothers - thankfully it’s not and what followed with the documentary and film answered that question - roll on the next album 💙
Been a fan since I was 14 - watched them in Southport UK live - Im now 61 they are just as good today - Id love to meet them just to say thanks for music.
Today (June, 11th) my grandmother would have her 90th birthday. That's why I think of her very much today. And now I listened to this song again and I realize, that it could also be a song about her and me. Or about her and our family. It's very interesting to realize, that this song could be interpreted in at least 4 different ways. That's very special I think.
Ron ... Russell ..... this touches my heart and with me that's not an easy thing to do :') "All the smiles and all the frowns, And all the ups and all the downs" - your music has been right there with me! As a fan "I'm with you 'til God says it's time to go" ... and thanks for always making me smile as well, you help me find my left shoe ;-) It was great to see you both and, as always, you're sounding AMAZING!
Of course, you understand it's a song about singing someone's praises because they've given you a loan; an ascerbic take on modern mores. Of course, you get that
Listened to Sparks in Berlin in the Tempodrom - it was a wonderful concert. All that is a real touching song. I was very glad to had the chance to see the Mail brothers live!
This song is so beautfiful that it hurts. Saw you guys in Berlin yesterday and you blew me off ... one of the best I have seen in my (rather long!) life!
Incredible tune. I like how Ron looks more contemplative in this video. Almost like hes trying to figure out if he made a difference. Sir you dont have to worry. You added so much good at least to my world.
Dear Russell dear Ron THANKS FOR YOUR WONDERFUL, TRUE, UNIQUE, MEANFUL, GENUINE, SINCERE, AUTHENTIC, PASSIONATE, HUMANITY, HUMOROUS, REBELLIOUS, MELODICAL, EMPHATICALLY LONGTIME TIMELESS MUSIC! !!! Discovered Sparks since watched The Sparks Brothers documentary a few weeks ago and can't stop falling in love with them. I lost my grandfather 14 years ago, this song makes me crying and missing him so much tonight.
Als ur-ur-alter Sparks-Fan muss ich sagen: Dieser Song stellt alles in den Schatten!! Selbst mein bisheriger Lieblingssong "Never turn your back ..." muss jetzt auf Platz 2. Dies ist die Hymne nicht nur für das 21. Jahrhundert, sondern für die gesamte Menschheitsgeschichte schlechthin. Wunderbar!
excellent new first song, they've done it once again. I think there is something wrong with Sparks. Ron cannot stop writing incredible tunes, and Russell's voice is as fabulous as ever. I Love these guys. Have for years, if not decades.
Wow! I was obsessed with Kimono my House in the 70s and their recent Hippopotamus is really rather good- their mix of pop, rock and vaudeville remain brilliantly inspired

This is such a great song. Sparks newbie. The trailer for The Sparks Brothers doc is what sent memory flashing of SNL & of Ron eating a sandwich while playing on The New Music on CITY TV Toronto in the early Eighties.
"Thanks for the loan" breaks my heart every time.
Who else wishes they had a better view of Ron's books? 😍
Excellent comment
Me too!❤️👍
They have never lost their Spark
It seems only the coolest people gathered together here to praise the best band of this planet The Sparks.🤤
"Please help me out I can't find my left shoe" just epitomises the beauty of this song.
These brothers been grabbing the world by the short and curlies since the late 60’s.
A day without Sparks is a day wasted. If I meet anyone who doesn’t know that, this is the video I send them!
I have been going through the worst time of my life - unending debt, eviction and being taken to court by my landlord, struggling with addiction and an eating disorder, becoming morbidly obese from that and losing who I used to be. I hope things are getting brighter again for you. Music is so, so important, it's my medicine too. ❤
i hope you are getting better, greetings from Mexico

Happy Birthday, Russell! Thank you for all of the years of great music, with more to come. You are loved. Yes, Ron is too! 😃❤
Fabulous Mael brothers 🎉❤🎉🍾🥂🙂♥️
I don't know why, but this hits me harder than anything in a long, long time.
I could imagine Ron wrote this for his brother Russell - they are very close brothers and have been through the grinder over the years but stay together creating great music.
Yeah it really feels like a retrospective on their career together, I love it so much.
Couldn't have said it better
Edith Piaf probably did tho
Guaranteed 😘
Just went to comments to write the exact same thing… beautiful lyrics.
And do you imagine?
Made my day.
The joy in Russell’s singing is such a joy to watch and listen to 😊
What an Anthem for Life, Loss & ❤ May you live FOREVER Sparks😁

I have been a fan since 1974 and I think their latest album is one of their best and this song is also! Thank you Ron and Russell! :)
Hey , this one's a lovely tune ! 🤓👌

I was curious what you'd think of the new album Larry, I too think it's one of their greatest. We're very fortunate to have Sparks still continuing to make amazing music! Cheers :)
Yes great 2 icon music legend I liked all that
Utterley agree... put a smile on my face... refreshing... only equalled, for my money, by Bowie: Black Star... ohhh..such a
loss...
Currently taking care of my dad with severe alcohol addiction. This song is my therapy.
i hope you'll be better now.

One of my favourite sparks songs.
Thanks for all Dear Ron and Russell; Everyday Today is less Dark with your Music. So long "Young Boys".
The melody, the lyrics, Russell's great voice, Ron's imperturbable face, all that makes me addicted to this song.
imperturbable! Yes! ❤️
What an outstanding song and video!!! A pandemic anthem!!!
I have been a Sparks fan since 1973. This is probably my most favorite songs of theirs & I love alot of their songs & albums

This may just be the most joyous song ever.
Musical perfection! Geniuses!
