Welcome to the Wonderful World of Sparks! 26 studio albums, released between 1971 - 2023. The brothers Ron and Russell Mael are the backbone of the group, that has changed a couple of times during the years. You hopefully have noticed (if you have kept digging in this rabbit hole, which I hope you have!) these guys never stop at one place, they keep on developing, and they present such a variety of songs on each album. Pretty amazing, when you have over 300 songs in the catalog! Their first recordings were made in January 1967, at a "rent-by-hour-studio" in Los Angeles, of only one is released; 'Computer Girl'. It was on a B-side (if I recall correctly) on a single in Japan many years ago, and uploaded on YT. When Sparks released the compilation album 'Past Tense (The Best Of Sparks)', they decided it was about time to give it a proper release. It's the first song on the triple CD edition (followed by two or three songs from every album, ending with 'Hippopotamus'). 'Computer Girl' is taken from their own vinyl copy of the recordings they made, hence the comment in the description on the album; "Yes, it has scratches on it. Thank you." (Maybe something similar. It's been a long time since I read it!) 'Computer Girl', before the first "E-mail" was even sent from one computer to another! If it had been about a ROBOT girl, it would have made sense, this was in the era of futuristic TV-series and movies, and robots were popular. But Ron, Russell and their friends wrote and recorded a song about a COMPUTER GIRL!? It is said many times that Sparks have been ahead of time, and in this case, DEFINITELY. About 15 years, at least. The recording is what it is, and the slightly psychedelic tune has scratches, but as a part of history it's outstanding! Listen to the lyrics! I can't tell if there is an underlying meaning or not, but hearing the words just as they are, many of us (not being 'hackers'😅) can recognize the feeling when that d__n machine malfunctions!
Wow!! Fantastic!! I saw it complete!! Thank you!! Let the successes continue!! Please do the last dance!! Greetings from Mexico City!! I'm a fan since 1994

Over 50 years in the business, and my favourite track is from 2017! Heard the guys doing this classic on a Sky concert (on my birthday!) - MADE MY DAY!!
It's a heartwarming song
For the easily moved
The effect is all wrong
Plain to see I'm not moved
As I stand in the light
Of a shop that is closed
God, I'd love me a fight
There's no poem just prose
Edith Piaf said it better than me
"Je ne regrette rien"
Pretty song, but not intended for me
Time to put some muzak on
There were no smoky dives
Few amours, fous or not
There were no petty crimes
Foreign substances bought
There were no midnight drives
With a crime boss' wife
Need a sentence at most
In assessing my life
Edith Piaf said it better than me
"Je ne regrette rien"
Pretty song, but not intended for me
Time to put some muzak on
Drunken and short-lived flings
Montparnasse lights
Holding a hand of kings
My hunch was right
When's that night?
Edith Piaf said it better than me
"Je ne regrette rien"
Pretty song, but not intended for me
Time to put some muzak on
Live fast and die young
Live fast and die young
Live fast and die young
Too late for that
Too late for that
Live fast and die young
Live fast and die young
Live fast and die young
Too late for that
Too late for that
Think of one single night
Wants so strong you're aflame
Well, I'm sorry time's up
Sorry, nothing will change
Edith Piaf said it better than me
"Je ne regrette rien"
Pretty song, but not intended for me
Time to put some muzak on
Edith Piaf said it better
Thanks for the lyrics!!!
Thank you, Tony!

It's the first song on the triple CD edition (followed by two or three songs from every album, ending with 'Hippopotamus').
'Computer Girl' is taken from their own vinyl copy of the recordings they made, hence the comment in the description on the album;
"Yes, it has scratches on it. Thank you." (Maybe something similar. It's been a long time since I read it!)
'Computer Girl', before the first "E-mail" was even sent from one computer to another!
Another amazing song and video from Sparks!
I am so touched. Have no words. Thank you Ron and Russell!
Wow!! Fantastic!! I saw it complete!! Thank you!! Let the successes continue!! Please do the last dance!! Greetings from Mexico City!! I'm a fan since 1994
Joseph Wallace is an absolute genius!
And now he has got the recognition! 🥇🏆Best Music Video at the Hollywood Art and Movie Adwards, Januari 2019: Edith Piaf (said it better than me), Sparks! 💐🍾🥂🎂🥳
Oh this is so poignant and wistful, made me cry. A more pop oriented direction, but hey, Sparks always surprise. I have just seen the doco - hopefully now you will receive the the accolades and recognition that has been so hard won! Congratulations on your talent, perseverance, endless creativity and..and...Sparks said it better than me!
💯 percent exactly
One of the most perfect music videos ever made, and as usual a sophisticated match between the lyrics & the music. Russell sings better than ever...
This is absolutely wild visually :D not to mention the song's a banger! I'm glad I now know these guys exist ^_^
Great band with another classic.Sparks is the band that keeps on giving.Thank you Russell and Ronald.
